We had dinner there last night and it was delicious! We ordered 5 different rolls and didn't leave any leftovers.

I've only done take out. Finally found a sushi place in Pasadena that pleases me. Fresh, great variety, some creative choices.

Great spot for sushi lovers. Great service and the chef's selection was terrific! I recommend the tuna belly.

I'm surprised that there weren't too many people when I came in with a friend for a weekday dinner. We had tried to get into Osawa, but there was an hour waitlist. This place is pretty decent. Pretty good customer service and pretty good food. I ordered the edamame, baked mussel, Cute Devil roll and Albacore Fever roll. The crazy rolls were tasty. -I really enjoyed the baked mussel; they minced up and really pack that mussel into the pool of ooey-gooey goodness. This sushi bar looks like a casual sushi bar. BAD Sushi is a horrible name. It stands for "Best and Delicious" but that's just a stupid idea. It's not stupid, however, to send out 50% off coupons to entice people to try out a new restaurant. My first visit at lunch was less than impressive. They have a variety of lunch specials and mine was miso soup + 2 pieces of sushi + one of their rolls for something like $10. I picked the yellowtail and salmon which were both fine and the SCS roll, which was essentially a shrimp tempura roll mixed with a california roll and a sweet sauce. The roll was so ho-hum. Ho-Hum isn't what you should be thinking with a sushi restaurant that has pages and pages of crazy rolls. Those crazy rolls should amount to inauthentic bursts of flavor! It took the 50% off coupon to lure me back. Can we talk about the Eel Garlic roll? It is insane! Eel and shrimp tempura are inside, with the shrimp tempura adding a nice textural crunch. On the outside, you have creamy avocado and green onions. The roll is served with two sauces: ponzu and butter. Yes BUTTER. It tastes so ungodly good because the meatiness of the eel and the butter makes you feel like you are eating a steak. This is one of the best crazy rolls I have ever eaten. The other two rolls were the Say Fish (tuna and cucumber inside) and your choice of fish outside and the Albacore Lover (spicy seafood and cucumber inside) and albacore, avocado, and fried garlic outside. Both tasted disappointingly similar and the structure of the rolls was not great, just kind of fishy and loose. If it wasn't for the Eel Garlic roll, I probably would have given BAD sushi 3 stars for its mediocrity. The Eel Garlic roll is so brilliant and so delicious that I know there is genius behind that sushi counter and I am on a mission to find those other delicious crazy rolls. read more

Lets just start by saying if that the freshness is definitely on point. If you want QUALITY over QUANTITY, this is the place to be. Food is delicious. Delicately prepared by Chef Jack was just like being prepared at home. Just melts on your palette so lightly makes you want more. The specials are a must. Staff is exceptional! Super friendly and makes you want to return sooner than later. Never a shortage of smiles, service and cleanliness. Parking isn't hard to find, there's a parking lot right across the street. Easy to make order through online and pick up the take out! They have many good sushi options plus they have some ramen and other option meals. Even they do have lunch special too! I forgot whats the name of sushi, but it was so good sushi, perfect flavor and right amount of rice. So far my favorite Japanese place for rolls in Pasadena. When my friend wanted to eat at "Bad sushi" for good sushi, it was initially pretty funny- but I am glad we came here. The place wasn't overly busy, and they were accommodating to our large party. I tried several rolls which I really enjoyed. We came partially during Happy Hour (before 7pm) which gave about $2 off per roll/dish. We really liked their Calamari Tempura- nice and flaky, flavorful covering to well cooked Calamari in a nice tangy dipping sauce. Their "Crying Tuna" (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, with a mild fire sauce), Spicy Tuna Crunch ("Spicy Tuna with tempura flakes and Unagi sauce) were both amazing. After enjoying those dishes, we even splurged on regular priced (post-happy hour) on getting their "BAD Salmon Roll" (crab inside with salmon outside) and "Albacore Lover" (Spicy tuna inside topped with albacore). Highly recommend- so many interesting rolls and dishes. They also have the traditional main dishes/bentos to try to if that's your preference. read more

The prices are average (that means not cheap since this is sushi we are talking about. This place is more for the California roll crowd and not the actual sushi connoisseurs. The menu is primarily various mayonnaise infused spicy tuna concoctions. My biggest problem with this place is that the sushi rice is pretty awful. Sushi rice is the unsung hero of "sushi." Sure there are those that prefer their fish served as shashimi but to get the full experience you need to pair the delicious fish with the wonderful white stuff. With just the right amount of tanginess, consistency and firmness...Sushi rice elevates the bite sized morsels from good to heavenly. The salmon teriyaki was dry and lackluster. The udon was average and my recommendation is to look elsewhere for your sushi fix. read more

My family came here for my Mom's birthday and we had a great time. The service and food was both great and the bill for the 4 of us (alcohol included) was only $100! We had... Spicy tuna on crispy rice - AMAZING! So good that we ordered a 2nd round before we left. If you only order one thing, order this. Tuna tower - The flavor was really good but this dish was hard to eat. The wonton crisps were so thin that they kept breaking into smaller and smaller pieces whenever I tried to scoop up some tuna. I ended up eating this with my fingers because I couldn't get the wonton crisps to cooperate. Regardless, I would order this item again. Spicy edamame - Delicious! I don't know why this is called spicy edamame because there is zero heat. The most prominent flavors are garlic & butter. (My two favorite things!) This is another must order item. Dragon roll - Good, but nothing special. It tasted like every other dragon roll I've had at other sushi restaurants. 911 roll - My favorite roll of the night! My mom and dad aren't a fan of spicy food but this roll isn't as spicy as the name would lead you to believe. If you can handle the spiciness of a spicy tuna roll, you can easily eat this roll too. B.A.D salmon roll - This is a baked salmon roll that is slathered in B.A.D sauce. The roll was so saturated with sauce that it fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Not only was this roll hard to eat, it also missed the mark with flavor. As a group we all agreed that this was the only item we didn't really like. Albacore lover - This was another great roll! My husband isn't a fan of albacore but even he devoured this roll. The spicy tuna, fried garlic, and sauce all tasted great with the albacore. This roll is very light & fresh; something you could order if you're on the verge of being full but want one more item... Currently the restaurant still has the old name out front: BAD Sushi. They are in the process of getting everything changed over but our waitress wasn't 100% sure when the new sign was going to be put up. The inside of the restaurant is on the small side but I think that's pretty common for a sushi joint. Overall, the decor was nice and the staff friendly. There is metered street parking right in front of the restaurant and plenty of parking structures/lots nearby. The restaurant accepts credit cards and you can call ahead to make a reservation (but I don't really think that is necessary). This restaurant is conveniently located right off of Colorado in the heart of Old Town. The next time I am in the area and a sushi craving hits, I'll definitely be back! read more

It's kinda funny that what I enjoyed the most here was the seaweed salad and the tempura ice cream. I ordered the Cute Devil after asking for a recommendation from the server. Their menu has a lot of variety, so it's great in that aspect. However, the Cute Devil was not so great. It was very rich. The description does say that it's shrimp tempura and spicy crab salad inside, and raw fish and more spicy crab salad on top. Too much creaminess from crab salad, bleh. What caught my eye in the picture was the raw fish, but the slices of fish were rather thin (disappointing because I was looking for that freshness), and the tempura was SUPER crispy... like way too crispy... like "where's the shrimp at?" too crispy because all I can taste is crispy tempura batter. For that reason, my friend and I were debating whether or not to get the tempura ice cream, expecting it to be super extra too crispy like the shrimp tempura. But fortunately, the tempura green tea ice cream was delicious. The dough was lightly crispy on the outside and slightly chewy overall. The ice cream was creamy... it was a good way to end the meal. Hm, I don't know if it was mentioned on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant, but they give you a discount if you pay with cash instead of credit card. Had I known that before, we wouldn't have ordered like fatties. We were short on cash by a couple bucks (and therefore too short too tip also), so we ended up paying with credit card. Love the name of this place. It stands for Best And Delicious ... but it's funny all the same. It's in a good location in Pasadena .... not as crowded as it is on Lake or Colorado. It's still close enough to Old Towne though. The sushi was good. There is a limited selection of both Sushi and Sake, but all your classic favorites are there. Overall decent quality, not too expensive and good ambiance. It's not a huge place though, so it may get crowded easily on weekends. read more

We choose this place because it did not look overly packed in Pasadena on a weekend. When we tried the rolls, that is where they truly shined. My wife said he favorite was the white tiger. It had a great balance of flavor. The sauce added a boost of taste that mixed well with the soy sauce and wasabi. We also ordered the fire snow and both my wife and I were pleasantly suprised by this roll as well. That roll had a good amount of heat, but the slice of jalapeño is something I enjoy. Now that summer is here, they really need to fix their AC system. For now, they just have fans everywhere, and it was uncomfortably warm when we had dinner there on a Saturday night. The place was quite busy, but I wonder whether Make Music, Pasadena had anything to do with it. Unfortunately, their tables arrangement isn't the best, so make sure you grab a table that is not on the servers route. I found their prices fair and their menu quite diverse. To my liking, there was a little too much of tempura everything - I would prefer more of healthier choices. But everything we had was quite good. I had Cute Devil (a little too rich) and my friend ordered the BAD roll (again, too much of deep fry, but the spicy tuna served with the roll was absolutely delicious!). The food deserves 3.5 stars, but with a little sloppy service and no air conditioner it was just an ok experience. read more

We stumbled across this place about 4 years ago and it was an instant favorite! It's the ONLY sushi place we go to now! Chef Jack and his wife Joy are amazing and so is the rest of their staff. With the Corona Virus quarantine we decided to do pick up sushi, which we have never done before. And the sushi was just as good as it always is when we dine in! The sushi is always so fresh. The Playboy Roll is our favorite and highly recommend it. The salmon sushi is also amazing! We tried the hamachi uramaki roll for the first time tonight and it was really good! The SCS roll and crying tuna are some of our other favorites. And as strange as this sounds, their house salad is amazing! We have come here a few times for date nights and group hangouts. The food is really good. I'm not a fish person so I always opt for the Bento Boxes which I love. You get a lot of food for a decent price. My whole family loves all the sushi. They have a great range of different flavors. They also have good deals on beer. Nothing like filling your tummy with excessive amounts of sushi to forget about the rain on the weekend. We started off with appetizers. Since I was craving takoyaki, I decided to order it. It was ok here... not as dressed up as other places, but the octopus was good and the bonito flakes were excellent. The tuna tower toppled when our waitress was setting it down, but that was ok. It was very delicious. The Salmon Attack was alright... just sushi with bits of fried garlic on top. Not my personal favorite. The Naughty Girls was quite sweet, but I enjoyed it. I forgot the name of it, but it was a baked salmon roll and that was very good. By the time my Rock over Roll came out, the mayo explosion had settled in. There was a LOT of mayo on this roll and although I love mayo, the takoyaki and baked salmon roll already had a lot of mayo, so I was feeling full, but it was quite a good roll. It's a nice change of pace from always going to Gin's, and it used to be Cha da Thai as another Yelper had previously mentioned and back then, their sushi was pretty good as well. I'd definitely come here again and try other rolls! Great and attentive service and we got 25% off at the end (possibly for the waitress toppling our tuna tower?) and that helped out a lot.
