A very nice spot for lunch. my friend and I met and sat outside under an umbrella. I really like the restaurants on Holly St. just a really nice vibe off the main boulevards. We both ordered lunch specials with iced green tea. I think it's from the powdered green tea as it's a bit opaque, nice flavor. I had the tempura and sashimi special for, my friend has salmon. Come hungry as the starters will fill you up! The specials come with salad and miso soup. The tempura was a meal in itself too! The sashimi was my "dessert", I ate it last because, you know, it's cold already! Very generous portions and I admit, I ate it ALL

Came for a birthday celebration and the place didn't disappoint. We order part of the happy hours items and entrees. We ordered the chirashi bowl, octopus salad, two hand rolls: spicy tuna and mix sashimi roll. We ordered two more rolls and that definitely hit the spot for two. Place was super clean and lit inside and we chose to sit inside since it was getting chillier outside. Overall the place is amazing and definitely will be back for more

New vibe and still great food! There's now a dj playing jazzy but funky dinner music. My favorite dish was the shitshito peppers roll. It's a main dish but be sure to either get it as an appetizer or include it in your dinner order. The sparking sake is also a must have.

What a cute restaurant! We walked in around 5:00pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables. The waitresses were so nice and helpful. We ordered an SCS roll, 911 roll, spicy tuna crunch roll, love at first bite, and crunch roll, tuna sushi, salmon sushi, albacore sushi, a black garlic tonkotsu ramen, gyozas, and a spicy tuna hand roll. There was a Sunday happy hour deal where some sushi were buy 1 get 1. Some hand rolls and special rolls were discounted. Every single dish was yummy! The ramen soup had so much flavor with the chewy noodles, the gyoza was crunchy on the outside and meaty on the inside, and all the fish from the rolls and sushi tasted fresh. They accept inkind app, which can discount your meal even more. Overall, for the price that we paid, food was delicious and well worth it. Definitely coming back to eat here again.

Found this place on the InKind app and this "Cute Devil" roll was probably one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had! All the staff was super friendly and very attentive. Me and wife also tried their black garlic ramen with pork belly and that was also really good. 10/10 highly recommend Mama M Sushi!

If you just realized you haven't followed me yet... fix that. I'm basically your love life's location scout. Now, Mama M's? Well, for starters, she's got that "I'm not like other girls" energy. The moment you walk in, it's giving romantic dinner vibes with someone who actually listens. Each table has its own sleek little lamp, kinda like a modern-day candlelight situation that whispers, "Tell me your secrets." Your vinyl seats in the back need a little refresher but other than that, the dining area looks inviting. Let's talk food. Would I come back? Oh, absolutely YES, even if it means driving 1 hour and 45 minutes like I'm chasing down an ex I should've never let go. Hah! The sushi's fresh, the vibe's intimate, and the whole place feels like it knows how to treat you right. Dear Mama M's Management: IMPORTANT Please don't touch that Happy Hour menu. It's the kind of thoughtful, emotionally available gesture we wish more people made. It's priced like someone who understands that not all of us are dating hedge fund managers. This was a great experience. We were able to walk in on a Friday night and were seated right away. The service was great and the servers were so sweet. I got a sake and my husband got a Kirin light bottle. We shared a veggie tempura appetizer. Mostly carrot but one giant broccoli, onion and a couple of green beans. The dipping sauce was excellent. I got the gyudon with a poached egg. So good. Also came with broccoli and carrot so not so meat heavy. My husbands spicy tuna bowl came with salad, soup and edamame. Great deal. Will be back for the delicious food and service!

Due to a credit card benefit, I was able to try out Mama M sushi. There are street parking and a park age garage close by. Surprisingly, they have a happy hour menu for Sunday evening. We wanted 8 pieces of salmon sushi and thought we need to order 4 orders with 2 pieces each. But since it's BOGO free, we only needed 2 orders. The server was nice enough to cancel the extra one. We ordered a variety of rolls and they are delish. We ordered gyoza and edamame for appetizers and they were great. For dessert, we had mochi ice cream, one mango and one green tea. Since plenty of people were here for the happy hour, the servers were quite swamped, but understandable. We will come back for this amazing restaurant!

Dined at Mama M Sushi for the first time and would come back again. I enjoyed the nigiri we ordered and also the crispy rice. I wasn't amazed by the roll we ordered, but it wasn't bad either. I will say it's just because I'm super picky when it comes to sushi! We ordered a couple pieces of Toro, and for the roll we had the Albacore Fever. The Toro was the perfect cut and I liked the fresh wasabi that was put on top. The Albacore Fever roll wasn't anything special to my husband and I, but I did enjoy the sauce it was paired with and that it was wrapped in soy paper. We wanted to order this trio of different Tuna nigiri cuts, but they were out. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended the Black Snapper - it was sooo good! It had a little sear on it which my husband and I both enjoyed. My only complaint was it was pretty warm inside of the restaurant which makes me kind of weary since they're serving raw fish. The restaurant is small as well so I would recommend coming early or making reservations! The staff were very attentive and kind as well. Will come back again to try other things they have to offer!

Mama M Sushi is such a great little hidden gem in Pasadena. The space itself is pretty small and cozy, but the service is fast and efficient. I definitely recommend making a reservation, but even if you walk in, the line moves fairly quickly since the kitchen is constantly sending food out to tables. We came here for DineLA, and I'm so glad we did--everything was incredibly tasty. The A5 Wagyu Nigiri was hands down my favorite: rich, buttery, and full of flavor. It honestly just needed a tiny touch of salt to be absolutely perfect. The sushi overall was super fresh, flavorful, and clearly high quality--you can really taste how good the fish is. I also loved the vibe of the place. They had a DJ spinning some really good jams, which added to the whole experience and made the ambience feel fun, lively, and welcoming without being overwhelming. Definitely worth checking out, and I'll for sure be back again.

Overall, it was a good experience. We ate some tempura shrimp, the sushi lunch special, and my parents had one baby back rib tonkatsu ramen and a sushi lunch. It's a cute, well-lit, and quick place. Overall, the service was great and prompt, attending to all our needs.

I had high hopes for Mamma M Sushi. It had decent ratings and was just around the corner from a meeting so it was the perfect place to grab a quick lunch. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table. The ambiance is nice and the menu is loaded with impressive pictures of their food. We went with two of the lunch specials. Our meal started with a delicious bowl of miso soup. Next uo for me was tempura. It was nicely cooked with a crispy exterior. My only complaint is that the container of dipping sauce was about 1-1/2" across so it was difficult to dip any of the tempura pieces in it. I also had to request a second dipping sauce as there was not enough in the little cup. Our main courses arrived quickly. I was impressed with the plating but not as impressed with the fish. The slices were so thick and many of them were chewy, not the tender, soft, melt in your mouth sashimi I've received elsewhere. I had to leave some partially chewed pieces on my plate. But other than that, we enjoyed our meal and the service was very good. Before we left, I needed to go to the restroom. And that is where things went downhill. I could not believe how disgusting and filthy the bathroom was. The light switch was covered in nasty fingerprints and stains, the top of the urinal had not been cleaned nor had the mirror which had visible stains and splatter marks on it. It made me sick to my stomach and I will not be returning due to the pack of cleanliness in the restrooms. That was a complete turnoff and unacceptable.

Mama M Sushi has been around for a while, even before the pandemic, and I've always wanted to try it. I finally got the chance recently since they accept inKind app payments. I ordered the $35 tempura and sashimi lunch, while my friend went with the $34 chirashi bowl. I have to say, the tempura wasn't freshly fried--it was clear from the breading that it was store-bought and frozen. The taste was decent, but for a $35 meal, I expected better. On the other hand, the sashimi was delicious and came in a generous portion. That said, I thought my friend's chirashi bowl was the better choice. Overall, I'm still giving them 4 stars because it's a small, family-run spot with attentive and friendly service. Just skip the tempura.

Definitely a Hidden Gem in Pasadena!! Recently started coming here and the sushi is soooo good! The Albacore Blossom has been a favorite so far and the BBQ Short Ribs are a must try! Tried the Crying Tuna Roll this time, loved the crunchiness inside and the chili oil adds a nice flavor! The tonkotsu Ramen was just ok, def not as flavorful as other tonkotsu ramens I've tried. read more

My wife and I have been eating here for years. Service is great, always someone to check in on us. The only sushi restaurant that does it right. It's an absolute vibe. Small and cozy with occasional live music. We will enjoy this spot until the earth stops spinning. read more

Wow What a disaster Nothing that the " Business Owners " pictures relay the trash you are going to get served I should of started by using the restroom first This would of totally explained the absolute disappointment I was walking into Oh Yeah Dinner for 1 $140 is freaking dollars I couldn't eat it and actually am fighting this review from noodle St a block away Ok Where do I start Whenever you see Yelp reviews from a 9 plus year old establishment and the 1st several hindered pictures and from the " Business Owner " Run!! What a total freaking joke There was nothing from the pictures ( that's how I decided to order ) that matched the dump that landed on the table I. It was great here. My friend highly recommended the place and it was a good time. We got about 5 of their specialty rolls amongst the 3 of us and we were nice and satisfied with that. Was it the best sushi I've had around this price point? No, but it's in my top 5 in the mid-range category. I highly recommend their specialty rolls as they do have pretty good portions and nice presentation. read more

I was born and raised in the Valley where Sushi Row exists on Ventura Blvd., so moving here a few years back has made it hard to find a good place in Pasadena. I blindly ordered from this place a few months ago and was really impressed by the delivery alone. I finally came here with by best friend irl and was impressed by everything. The staff is so nice and warm. The food is fresh. It's so hard to pick what's my favorite. This and Matsuri on Green Street is my pick. read more

I usually come here on Fridays and I've had the ramen (delicious but a bit more sweet than savory) and multiple rolls here. Service is fast and friendly, great quality food, and nice portions. The ambiance is nice and relaxing and the decor is beautiful. I work just a few blocks so definitely will keep returning! Been here a handful of times and never a bad experience. read more

I enjoyed the sushi here, got a few tuna appetizers and an Omakase set. The sushi was fresh but not stellar. Ambience was nice, came for week night dinner and we were seated right away. It was busy for a weeknight but still inviting enough to enjoy dinner with great company. Service was friendly. Bottom Line: I would like to try more sushi places before coming back here. read more

Grabbed dinner with a friend here and we were both pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We ordered the ocean wrap, chicago roll, salmon carpaccio, and amazon roll. Also tried their scallop, mackerel, and unagi nigiri. Everything was fresh and oh so delicious. Orders came out quick and service was good. We didn't get our miso soup until we asked at the end of our meal. I've never had miso at the end of my meal but it wasn't bad, just on the saltier side. Prices were reasonable for the quality; our bill came out to $116 for two. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good sushi in the Pasadena area! read more

The prices here are is a little pricey but the quality of the sashimi is superb! I got the poke bowl and scallop, ikura, and uni bowl which so fresh and I love the sauce that came with it. Service is attentive and plenty of parking structures around the restaurant. read more

Kept telling my sushi cravings to lower their expectations in the current Covid climate--only to be pleasantly surprised. For $15, the Salmon Donburi was two thumbs up from a salmon lover. With 7ish pieces of salmon laid on top of sushi rice topped with ikura, the salmon donburi definitely was a good ratio. Took a chance and ordered Say Fish $13 and Salmon attack $12 despite the low reviews. Eight pieces each. Good quality and quantity. The garlic chips on the salmon attack really enhances the flavors. The tempura was amazing!! The batter and temperature control was perfect! All in all, like another Yelper said: "we kept saying it was so good after every bite." 10/10 would come back. I really like this place. It's on a quiet street in old town and has a small outdoor patio. The food is solid, I really like their non rice options so different from sushi. Their rolls have really playful names and I appreciate that they have a nice range of vegetarian rolls. Their soups are super tasty. Definitely on rotation for our home. I would recommend eating here vs take out as they have made mistakes or missed items. The servers here are nice, not super proactive, but they bring things when you ask. read more

5 stars because the staff were super nice and patient with us as we couldn't decide what to order! The baked mussels are delicious and i would go back just for that. The salmon belly literally melted in our mouths and was delicious, highly recommend for any salmon lovers. The playboy roll (subbed soy paper for seaweed) was such a fresh roll. The lemon added on top worked perfectly and tasted lovely. This place is easy to find and walkable from a lot on the other side of the street. The ambiance is very cute and inviting, but not over the top! Great location, great staff, great food! read more

I love the food and the service is great but for some reason the prices are not what I expect them to be. It's not a cheap place. Every time I go there I end up spending a lot more than I thought but then again the food is really good so I am conflicted. Hoping I will be able to hit happy hour more often since I can't seem to afford its real prices. read more

The ambiance and decoration is great at this restaurant. Very chic and modern with comfortable seating. The service was splendid. I really liked the bento box. Every item was delicious and it is always nice to get a little bit of everything. The barbecued ribs was sweet and flavorful. A little bit tough to chew. But nothing this chomper can't handle. I had higher hopes for the baby back ribs ramen but it was very average. read more

In an area with a large number of restaurants this one is a must for anyone who loves sushi! The Cute Devil was absolutely delish. A bento box with salmon rounded out the best meal I had in Pasadena. Really adored this lovely sushi spot in Pasadena. From sushi to bento boxes, love that their menu is quite extensive. The quality and presentation of the dishes we ordered were outstanding. I love the ambiance here as well. It was quite peaceful, really good spot to enjoy delicious Japanese dishes. Enjoyed a nice lunch on their outdoor patio today. Perfect weather for it. Had the dragon roll, mixed tempura, soft shell crab, and a bento box and everything was delicious. Great service too. Maybe on the pricey side but that is expected in Old Town. Will definitely come back. read more

Food: -Flaming Gyu Maze-men (last item under the ramen section). This is a no broth ramen. I have pretty good tolerance and I thought it was super spicy but so delicious! -Dynamite was good but nothing special. They let you know it takes 20 minutes to prepare but it arrived at our table in less time! -Crispy rice was good. I loved that the rice was warm but the tuna was cool. -SCS roll was generous and yummy too. There are so many rolls to choose from but I would order again. Outdoor Dining & Service: They are primarily indoors. They only have one outdoor table so call ahead to reserve it if you want to dine outside! They offer hand sanitizer at all the tables which is a plus for me. There was a small wait outside for diners and to go orders on a Friday around 7pm. Service was speedy and attentive even though we were outside and they were busy. Parking: There is street parking and some loading space in front if you are doing a quick pick up for a to go order. Small parking lots next door at corner of Holly/Fair Oaks and another on Electric Dr behind the restaurant (which is on a super dark alley so I don't really recommend). read more

I woke up several hours later after dinner (the only thing I ate that day) and had to puke my guts out. This is my 6th time and here and every time prior has been on point. But this time I did feel a little odd eating the shrimp tempura. Boy, did I pay the price. I'm never eating here again. And 30 min later I'm puking out my guts again. Great. Now that it's out of my system, I feel so much better. Ugh I think it was the calamari. read more

Decent sushi place a few streets down from the busy Main Street. We stumbled upon this place because we were tired of the long waits on the Main Street. Love they they provide hand sanitizer for each table. They were slightly understaffed in waiter staff on a Wednesday dinner time. The food was pretty yummy. Especially the rolls. The crab hand roll was not that great though because it was over powered by the sauce they use, can't really taste the crab. The yuzu ramen was not flavorful enough. I'd come here again to try their other rolls! One tip is I wish their bathrooms looked cleaner. read more

When we sat down the first item I saw on the menu was the spicy edamame. A lot of restaurants have it on their menu and it's either not spicy or good and this was excellent. Let's not ruin the sushi review with vegetables: 1. They have really good sushi. I saw the reviews on yelp and I know the quality of sushi in Pasadena and their sushi is really good. 2. They have an expansive menu, there are a ton of quality options. 3. The service was excellent, we really appreciated the extra care and attentiveness. We'll be back again read more

Food is mediocre not that fresh but okay for American. Service is okay. Ambiance is bad since there is no air conditioner only few fans and some small flies you need to pay attention not landing on your food. I may debate next time for the poke or this place. read more

We LOVE Mama M and everything she has to offer. We've been ordering take out for over a year! The truly take pride in making sure your order is correct. They have never messed up one of our to go orders in the year plus that we've ordered from them every Friday night. They've gotten so used to us, they remind me of nuances in our order when I forget! Their staff is knowledge, professional, and very friendly! They made us feel like a part of their family. When we were able to finally sit inside, it even furthered our love for this establishment. We order differently for take out. So now, we were really able to put their sushi skills and freshness to the test! And we were blown away! Their fish is so good! From the octopus carpaccio to the hamachi uramaki roll and sushi specials, it was all delicious. If you're ever in the area, they are a must try! My first 5-star review of 2019 and well deserved too. With a plethora of AYCE sushi restaurants in California, something that does not exist in the Midwest, it's nice to go to places where that's not an option. Sure, the bill is higher but the presentations (that AYCE typically does not have) are a feast for the eyes prior to savoring the superior quality fish. Located on Holly Street not far from the center of activities on Colorado Boulevard, we parked in the Green Street structure and enjoyed the short walk to the restaurant. It is wonderfully intimate inside. Dark lighting creates a sense of calm, which is important when eating so that food is enjoyed to its fullest. Although small and nearly every table for four was occupied, we only had to wait a few minutes before getting a small but well situated table in the back. High, white, padded booth backs lend a touch of class and comfort to anyone who sat there. I deferred to my lovely lady and took the chair. The menu is extensive and the daily special board was nearby and nicely illuminated. Toro for $12? Hmmm. We proceeded to make two separate orders. The first round had only one cut roll with rice so while the delectable tastes of the Salmon Carpaccio, Beachs Nude (Albacore filets), the baked mussels (finely sliced and a wonderful sauce) had ranges of flavors and textures, we weren't full. No problem, the menu has what seemed like over 50 possible cut rolls to choose from so two more rolls and Toro Sushi put a nice cap on a fantastic meal. All throughout the dining experience our server was sweet, attentive and friendly. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant. They are closed on Mondays and also have a happy hour between 4:30 and 7pm. Hours of operation are flexible, they close at 9:30pm Tuesday through Thursday and ar 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

Hamachi crudo, was lacking sauce they may have skimped on it but was able to use table side soy/wasabi. Now, it's been a good few years since I've had miso soup, and I've never really been crazy about it, but this... this was some damn good soup. Liquid umami. Then the bulgogi and rice came. He then brings another waitress who tells us it should have come out already, and then another who tells us completely different information (i.e. it came out with different fish). Overall an unpleasant experience. Would not be back again nor would I recommend this place to anyone, especially since they made such a big deal out of $10 nigiri on a $800 bill.

He always makes us laugh and smile and improves the entire experience. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does as a chef and puts his whole heart and soul into each dish. Jesse also is quick to answer any questions we have regarding the food, especially with how to reheat certain dishes at home later. The staff at Uovo is incredible and you can tell they want you to have the best experience. The environment has always been welcoming and kind. Further, the staff is extremely accommodating with any and all allergies/food restrictions. My mom is vegan and I'm vegetarian, and that has never been an issue at all. We've never left feeling bloated or sick once. If there is a long wait during the rush hours, their staff upfront is prompt and alerts you immediately when your table/seat at the bar is ready. Oftentimes, the wait they tell us is usually longer than what we end up actually waiting, so they're all very efficient.

Her wine recommendations were spot on and paired perfectly with the food. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does and wants guests to have a great experience. I didn't even think to take pictures because I was too busy enjoying the meal, which probably says a lot! Between the food, the wine, and Julianna's wonderful service, it ended up being one of my favorite dining experiences in Pasadena. Can't wait to come back.

There's areas of the cafe to get your own water and return your tableware. We got the matcha soft serve latte and matcha mochi parfait. I appreciated how noticeably strong the matcha flavor is in their drinks. The matcha soft serve latte came as a large portion, so it was quite filling. Even larger was the matcha mochi parfait, so I'd recommend coming here hungry. The soft serve had good quality and mixed well with the matcha. If I visit here again, I'd be interested in trying out their curry.

I ordered the hojicha soft serve with warabimochi and mochi balls. The ice cream was satisfying and smooth, but I felt like it lacked that rich hojicha taste I was craving. For reference, I love Midori Matcha's hojicha soft serve and see that as my gold standard. The toppings were delicious though! Both mochis were delightfully soft and chewy. Staff was very friendly. It is a new space, so it is clean and modern inside. It is not a large space though, so you might have a hard time finding seating if it's busy. You order at the counter or tablet then find your own seats. I recommend coming during non peak hours if you want to dine in without the chaos of finding a seat.

Soft spoken and kind, we were very at ease with him. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the couches are very comfortable, which was a huge plus. The ginger ale is made in house and is many tiers higher than Canada Dry. We ordered the Panda Beef and the Panda Inn Special because it was our first time there and why not? Lean in to what their specials are. Both dishes were amazing. The Panda Inn Special featured large plump bites of lobster, chicken, and shrimp, with a medley of vegetables and smaller pieces of pork. The Panda Beef was shockingly amazing with crisp and flavorful slices of beef. We finished up dinner with Chocolate Lava Cake and the Warm Rice Pudding, the latter of which is also made in house. Both were a very great end to the dinner. Other notes that were very appreciated: - the checkbook and how nice it looked -they took the parking ticket with the check so we didn't have to go validate it ourselves - white rice is free? - the bar had an automatic wine glass shiner that was fun to look at - take out bag has a very luxury feel to it

Not the best choice of names for a restaurant, but I decided to try this place out tonight. Aside from it being 85 degrees, and getting slow service from the waitress considering there was one other table, the food was good, but not great. There is an abundance of different menu items to slow your decision making process that is for sure. Nothing that we ordered was undesirable, yet nothing was so good that it was scarfed up right away. This is definitely a more americanized version of sushi, but sometimes that is what you are looking for. I wish the prices were slightly lower and I would plan on coming back but now I guess its just a consideration if I happen to be in that part of town. read more

I should have paid more attention to the name BAD before I drove all the way there. The place it's REALLY BAD, bad service, bad prices, bad location, no parking only if you are lucky you can find one street meter space, small place and all the tables are so close that you cannot have a private conversation, THEY CHARGE FOR GINGER this is super bad and also super cheap. I am allergic to shrimp and crab and they did not want to make any substitutions due to my allergy. I will rather drive a little more to go to Little Tokyo where I can get the real sushi and not attitude. read more

Woah mama! This amazing little spot puts a lot of effort into crafting their sushi. The rolls are inventive and packed with fresh ingredients, and the attention to detail is evident in each dish. My co-workers and I came here for dinner, and we were seated right away. There was great selection of rolls and appetizers we could choose from. I got the SCS roll per the server's recommendation, and I really enjoyed it! Portion size was large compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to. I expected around 6-8 pieces, but it was a long train of 10 rolls! I would definitely visit again. read more

Came here a week ago with my friends to try out this place in old Pasadena. It wasn't crowded but the food quality is great. Some of their rolls taste much better than other Sushi places in the area. Prices are a little bit expensive but you pay for quality of good food. Will come back to try other items on their menu again. read more

If you are going to have an acronym like BAD your sushi better be far from BAD or BAD meaning good and this place was just BAD meaning BAD!! They get 2 stars for presentation and because it wasn't disgusting. The food was lacking so much flavor. It was disappointing because it looked so good. I wont be back. read more
