Mama Noodle is located inside Duke Bakery. I have always wanted to try this small eatery but never had the chance until this last Sunday. My husband and I were in the area and decided to try Mama Noodle for dinner. When we arrived, no one was at the register. The employee at the Duke Bakery register asked if we were looking for an employee to help us and we told her yes and so she went to the back to let the employee (whom I suspect is the owner) know that there are customers at the register. At the time, it was around 6:20 pm when we came in. The employee came out and told us that they actually close early on Sundays at 5:30 pm. But he was so kind to say that because he is still here (as he had said he was cleaning up in the back), he can serve us. He did tell me that he only has noodle left though and the burger items are not available (which was perfect for us because we only wanted the noodle dishes). When we started to order, he actually said he wanted to make sure that he had enough noodle left to fill our orders of 2 bowls. He looked and said that he did (make sense since this was well after closing). So we ended up ordering: Spicy Beef Summer Noodles, $13.75 prior to tax- This dish comes with a side of vinegar that is meant to mix with the noodle dish to break up the thickness of the sauce and rich flavor of it and help it all work together. My husband enjoyed this dish and didn't think the dish was too spicy (I didn't have any because I do not eat spicy foods). He thought the noodles had a nice chewy texture. But he did feel that the portion size was on the small side. Signature Summer Noodle, $10.75 prior to tax- My dish also came with a side of vinegar. I really liked this dish. That sesame sauce in the dish really was delicious and the vinegar was a perfect addition to mix in. I really loved the texture of noodles and found them to be bouncy and had a great chew. I liked the sliced cucumbers in this dish to also give it some freshness. I actually felt like the portion size of this bowl was perfect for me but I am a smaller eater than my husband. ------------------------------ (Total= $27.07 after tax) We paid via credit card but was surprised to see that there was no ability to add tip because we really wanted to give tip since this employee was more than happy to serve us even though he had been closed for almost an hour. However, there is a small tip jar by the register but we did not have cash on us (but hope to the next time we visit). Because there are a few tables here (originally was part of Duke Bakery that I just assume was to encourage customers that wanted to eat their baked goods on the spot), we decided to eat our meal here. And while we were removing the lids on our bowls, we were surprised that the employee came over quickly to give us each a cup of ice water. Honestly that was so thoughtful of him, especially after he decided to serve us well after closing (but please note that I cannot guarantee that you will be as lucky as we were to come after closing to be able to order food). This customer service that was shown to us truly went the extra mile (Something you don't see nearly as often anymore) and really means so much to me. I definitely see myself coming back here again many times in the near future. read more

I tried this liangpi spot in Arcadia and really liked it. The noodles tasted fresh and had a good chewy texture. We ordered the sesame sauce liangpi, mom's flavor liangpi, and spicy beef tripe liangpi. The sesame one was smooth and nutty. The mom's flavor one was sour, spicy, and very refreshing. The beef tripe one had more flavor and the portion was good. It's a small place, but the food was good. I would come back when I'm craving liangpi. read more

I've been coming to Duke's Bakery pretty often and recently noticed they have a small restaurant inside, so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is pretty small, so service can be a little slow at times. They're known for their liang pi, which is one of my favorite cold noodle dishes, so I went with the Signature Summer Noodle Salad. The liang pi noodles are thin with a nice chewy texture. The dish comes with cucumber and tofu gluten, all covered in a rich sesame sauce. They also give you a side of vinegar which helps cut through the richness and balance everything out. Once you mix it all together, it becomes a really refreshing cold noodle dish, especially on a warm day. I have to say it was quite good and definitely satisfied my craving. The beef roll had a perfectly crispity crunchity flakey green onion pancake wrapping a bit of flavorful, juicy, umami, shredded beef. My experience with Mama Noodle was a bit of a rollercoaster. I initially tried to order through an app, but my order was rejected. When I decided to go in person, I was told they were busy with a large order and had to wait about 30 minutes. I returned at 11 am and was finally able to place my order for the Signature Summer Noodle Salad and the Crispy Pancake with Braised Pork. Despite the rocky start, the food was worth the wait. The Signature Summer Noodle Salad had excellent flavor and felt incredibly refreshing--a true summer dish. The Crispy Pancake with Braised Pork was also pretty good; however, I thought the filling was too little. Overall, the food is good, that's what really matters. When I heard that this place made handmade liang pi, I just knew I had to try it. Mama Noodle is within the Duke Bakery on Duarte Rd, and you can see those fresh noodles on display when you walk in. I ordered their Summer Noodles which are supposed to be spicy, sour, nutty, and refreshing. Like the description says, I got all those flavors when I slurped up a noodle. Their noodles have this nice chew to it that is almost addicting. I had a hard time putting this dish down honestly. They accept apple pay, and the ordering experience is a half spoken half pointing kind of deal, so i was excited that the food going to be good. And indeed it was. The liang pi (rice noodles?) is nice, slightly chewy in all the good way, such a joy in bite-feel. Sesame sauce is very thick, so unless you really like cold noodles with sauce tighter than best friends, ask for slightly watered or thinner sauce. It also comes with a nice cold tangy thin 'gravy' (or broth?) that is a perfect companion for the nutty flavor. Portion is reflected by the price, not too small and not big enough to share. It's a popular, refreshing Chinese dish from the Shaanxi Province, known for its wide, chewy, and slippery noodles made from wheat or rice starch. Cute place, share room with Duke Bakery now. No big sign outside, and I really don't like this parking lot... But! I like the noodle salad! It's just good amount and with a lot of sauce (I love extra sauce), and after put all sauce in the noodle will suck the juice in and make this dish more flavorful. The quality of liang-pi is very good. Amazingly they have even different color liang-pi made with different vegetables like carrots, beets...... Generously amount of food only $9.99 a set! It is inside a bakery sharing the indoor space. Not a fancy restaurant but a cozy eatery. Service is great with an enthusiastic server/cashier. Portions were very small. The liangpi they give you is about only 2/3 of the portion of other restaurants. But I guess that's why they are currently putting it at a discounted price of 9.99. If any higher, it is criminal to justify the regular price at 12.99 for this small amount of food. The pork burger also lacks meat. Again, they provide only about half the amount of meat that other restaurants provide. The flavor is all on point, but nothing AMAZING, so they definitely need to improve quantity first. Especially for a fast food kind of location. I was not full after this meal. read more
