I'll be honest. The food looks great, the coffee was tasty, and the atmosphere is awesome. However, I don't think I could become a frequent flyer because of the prices. The pastries were $5-6 which was reasonable. But, I ordered their seasonal almond croissant latte and it was $9.25. The latte was good but I felt very over priced. I love a good coffee shop but can't stomach almost $10 just for a coffee. Love the decor and the atmosphere though, it was very busy as well.

Maman had great coffee, cute two-person tables, and an excellent selection of pastries, including a strawberry citrus "cruffin" that was delightful!

Maman on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington (Ballston area) is a popular cafe known for its charming French-country style, with floral decorations and a cozy, garden-like atmosphere. It offers exceptional coffee, seasonal drinks, and pastries such as Orange Pistachio Olive Oil Tea Cake, Kouign Maman, Martha Stewart's Milk Chocolate Creme Brulee Sugar Bun, and Pear & Cardamom Turnover. The cafe also serves high-quality breakfast items like Andrea's Smoked Salmon Croissant Sandwich and Caitlin's Breakfast Wrap, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, coffee, pastries, and gatherings or relaxing in the Ballston area.

    Matcha strawberry lemonade

TLDR; overhyped and overpriced. I've been here about three times and the place is consistently lackluster. The drinks are made to an ungodly sweetness and the pastries aren't too special. The baristas work on autopilot -- if it says no ice, they'll fill it with ice and to the brim such that putting a to-go cap on the drink turns into a messy test of patience. The baristas show no semblance of customer service and throw a sloppy drink together if you point out a faulty order. I had to pour out my drink so I could add water, and if you can believe it, it didn't blend during the pour -- it came to me looking like sewage water. There are better cafes in the area, so don't waste your time here. Update: a couple of hours later and the lemonade started wreaking havoc on my stomach

    Sakura Cherry Croissant Cube

our first time at a maman and would absolutely come back. Not only was the food fresh and delicious and unique (we got a special Sakura croissant cube, perfect for cherry blossom season in DC, charlotte's sunrise spread, an incredible bacon sandwich with jammy peppers and tomatoes), but the staff here is incredible!! They were so kind and helpful and provided great vibes all around!

The store is conveniently located right off the main road, and they open super early, so you will be able to buy whatever baked goods you may need for any event that day. The employees are super helpful, and they have a bunch of stuff so you will be helped really fast. The store is organized really well, so you can navigate through pretty easily which I really appreciated. Nothing would prepare me for how big this storm was, it was a full scale production! Everything looked so amazing, but I'm especially excited for the cupcakes! They do a beautiful job with the presentation. Cannot recommend this store enough! Will definitely be coming back for events

Not so much now. Now it is good but not exceptional like in the past. Their pastries are getting smaller and the prices have gone up. There is also inconsistencies in quality, with some items being slightly overcooked. Napoleons - these are about half the previous size. Still very good though. Strawberry eclair - smaller than previous. Also, the shell is consistently overcooked now. Quiches - these are around a third of the previous size. Sometimes they are overcooked and dry. Also, the mixed veggie quiche is much smaller in depth to the spinach one Various danishes (cheese, apple, cherry, sticky buns) - all around a third of their previous size. Still great quality and tasty though Sfogliatella (Italian pastry) - surprisingly, these are larger than they used to be. These are not good anymore though. The filling tastes good, but it's a weird texture now that they make it larger. The pastry shell is really hard and chewy now that they are larger. These used to be the greatest ever. It's a shame. Cannoli - tried this for the first time today. Won't ever do that again. The shell was good and crispy. The filling was a weird color and had tiny chocolate chips in it. You could tell it was several days old because the chips were soggy. Also, they filled it when we ordered it - and they just put a tiny bit of filling in it so we could actually see through the shell. Not good.

Those French tarts with frangipane-all sublime! All the tea cookies were simply butter, sugar, a little flour-simple and delicious! And those fabulous individual pastries were jewel -like in flavor & in decoration. Anytime I would bring a box filled with PbR's jewels to a friend's home, office party or to my neighbors' block party; I WAS THE DESSERT STAR; deservedly, sharing the best with friends. Then a neighbor brought a PbR coconut cake with lemon curd to our block party and I could not finished my slice... thin cake layers, the "buttercream" was not very buttery but sweet & gritty, what lemon curd?! Nowhere to be found, sadly. The Randolph's retired and the new owners are not reading any of those wonderful recipes from the OGs - Chef Mark Randolph, Chef Cindy & their awesome kitchen team.

The customer service is excellent. Even though I have used UE for most of my orders, my packaging is always done well. Nothing is squished or dripping. Can you imagine having beet juice everywhere?!? Crème Brûlée: The freshly baked caramel shell was as light and crisp as glass, with a perfectly balanced sweet and mellow flavor after the initial burnt bitterness. The filling was smooth and delicate, with a rich and intense egg and milk aroma, and a generous amount of vanilla seeds. The only downside was that the garnish fruit wasn't fresh enough; it was a bit soft, and I would have gladly thrown it away. Chocolate Macaron: The shell was also light and crisp, with a full and slightly airy filling. The chocolate flavor was rich but not too sweet. Perfect for Chinese tastes!
