I love the coffee drinks here. Also the cookies are to die for. The wait staff isn't that friendly which is probably not good for this area.

Cold coffee, bad service, overpriced bad food. Belgian waffles were like day old cookies, cold and crunchy. Do not recommend.

I decided to give this another try and my rating stays the same. Ambiance is interesting and vibrant. Community sitting in couple of spaces but serving and hostess situation need major improvement. Chaotic! Everyone walking around but customers have no clue who would sit them....No one knows if there is a line and who is responsible for assisting you with your seat. Food is ok! Looks appetizing but not very tasty. I had avocado tartine and my friend had a kale salad. The sandwich even with one sunny side up egg was bland and hardly any taste beside just avocado. They didn't toast the bread for the sandwich and bread tasted old. The salad was mediocre as well, saturated with cheese and not very creative. We also have almond croissant and it was pretty delicious. I would say the most tasty item that we had visiting this place. The bathrooms aren't that clean either. Management either too busy or lost interest about helping to improve this restaurant which is in a hip location and can attract many more customers. read more

Such a beautiful place!!!!!!! Cashier greeted with a lovely smile. I ordered the cauliflower salad. It took a while for the server to bring it to me. However, it was worth the wait! Meticulously made to order. The dressing was on the side and out of this world! I bought their cookbook, which has amazing recipes which will be useful for the upcoming holidays. Long wait on short line due to apparent staff shortage. Cappuccino ordered "for here" came in "to go" cup and over 10 mins before food so was cold for the meal. The cube-shaped croissants are cool, and the service is nice, but the vegan hot chocolate was absolute garbage. I could make it better at home. Not worth my money. Plus, they don't even have lemon tarts. Don't call yourself a French bakery/restaurant unless you have lemon tarts. read more

I've been twice at this restaurant, and on both occasions, the service and quality of the food were pretty bad. Yesterday's experience at Maman was terrible, to the point I was embarrassed to have suggested this place. We had to wait a long time for our food, and my friend got the wrong order. The food wasn't good, and they forgot to bring our drinks. We were not even offered water to drink in the meantime, and no server was around to ask. We finally got our drinks halfway through our meal. When I was finishing my unexciting meal, I found a stray chip. I thought it was eggshell, but then I noticed my plate was chipped everywhere. Since this is a safety issue, I brought it up to the attention of the manager, who looked unconcerned and said, "yeah, you never know when a dish is gonna chip." I could tell he did not realize the dangers of serving food on broken dishes, from the obvious ones of ingesting a stray chip to the biological hazards of harboring bacteria, exposure to lead, etc. We had to wait a long time to pay for our food and were given a cookie for the "bad moment'." Needless to say, we won't be back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

A very nice and cute cafe/restaurant and the food was great but on the outdoor tables you were either in the Sun or there was bird poop on your table. The service was ok. It would have been a much better experience if they had table service instead having to order at the counter. read more

Some of their desserts are good, but as the reviews said about food there, it isn't good at all. I stopped in to get a couple of desserts as I saw there wasn't the a huge swarm of bugs/fruit flies as I had seen during my last time, during which I saw them and turned right around and walked out. The young lady at the counter took my order, rung me up and was very nice, but the lady, whom I recognize as one of the managers with an accent was hovering and although it was clear she would be putting the to-go order together, simply would not budge. I'm waiting, the young cashier is looking at her and she walks over and asks a couple of times, "is everything okay?", the young lady seemed as confused as I was. Then the manager asked her did the card go through. The young lady quickly looked to see if I was listening, and you could tell she was embarrassed and answered 'yes'. Not sure, why the manager felt the need to ask that, as I was like any other customer (with the exception of being African-American). Needless to say, I decided chancing it to see whether there was a 'Lord of the Flies' situation going on or being treated like that wasn't worth my time or money ever again. read more

Went on a Sunday, it was quite busy. Service was a bit slow and disjointed, although the servers were actually nice. I ordered a St. German spritz, it was ok but way too much ice. The croque maman was my entree and it was ice cold in the middle, not even room temp. Obviously not made fresh because they failed to warm it all the way through. My server replaced it without hesitation and a new one came piping hot. It was good but nothing amazing. MamanNYC comes to Georgetown and Im all for it. The space is large and spacious with a cute little study section. Came on opening day and was able to snag a table with enough room for my full size stroller (stroller friendly is a double plus). This isn't my first visit to a Maman establishment, I literally went twice a week when I lived in NYC so I ordered all my favorites, which were the honey lavender and chai latte, nutty chocolate chip cookie, pistachio chocolate croissant, the ham and cheese croissant (ask for extra toasty so the cheese melts all the way); and the Paloma quinoa and beet salad; and yes I ate everything (as I am currently nursing). The food was good and staff was super friendly. If you're looking for cute decor, ambience, friendly. staff and delicious food, Maman is the place. No wonder this place was extremely busy; there are not many cafes on this caliber with prices similar to Starbucks and Le Pain Quotidein, yet having the ambience of a Parisian cafe. read more

I had high hopes for this place. Have been twice just to try a couple of different things. Feels like amateurs are making the food. Stale bread is used for sandwiches. Jam and cheese croissant is mediocre. The pickle that comes with this is a cornichon. Croissant is burned and the whole thing is just overpriced. Not sure if they actually make things in house or they buy them somewhere and just serve them there. Just overpriced for what you're getting. read more

We decided to try Maman today, Sunday Aug. 7, around 11:30 for brunch. The server was very nice which is why I gave a 3 star rating. Otherwise I would've given a 1 star rating. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. My friend ordered one of the Sunday only sandwiches. Hers came and mine ----- well, I had to ask where it was THREE times!! I was offered a pastry while waiting but I was there for a meal and I was hungry so I declined the offer. The breakfast sandwich ----- the jam overpowered everything. I saw the tiny bit of avocado but didn't taste it because of the jam. And the egg was cold. The bun was an overwhelming amount of bread for the sandwich. That with the inexcusable noise level are the reasons that I doubt that I'll ever go back or recommend Maman. There are too many other options in Bethesda. read more

I went at 2:30 pm on Monday. I was hungry, having not yet eaten and opted for the french toast. For $15 I would expect a regular size order of french toast (brioche perdu). I was very disappointed when I received one very thin and small slice of brioche bread with lots of cream all over it. I told the server " you're joking, this is not a meal portion ", he responded that " it was more like a dessert ". BUT, it was on the regular menu with the eggs, where French toast usually is. I told him to tell the cook that this was too small of a portion and I am still hungry and forced to eat from my daughter's plate. He told the cook and came back and reported to me that the cook said that is how it's served. BIG waste of money and time, especially if you're hungry!! read more

Let me preface my review by saying there is nothing wrong with the food, it is just not my tastes. I had the grilled cheese which was overpriced. It was well described on the menu - but I was hoping it would be different. Another diner at our table had the roast beef sandwich and commented on the lack of beef. Everything seemed overpriced (I know it's the Bethesda crowd) and I did not like the salad that seems to come with everything. That being said, the bakery treats looked very good. If someone insisted on going back, I think I would have one of those and call it a day. The service was attentive and the food came out well plated and quickly. If it is your cup of tea than go for it. It just wasn't mine. read more

Beautiful ambiance 10/10 recommend the hazelnut dulce de leche croissant! Was surprised how much I liked the truffle croque maman sandwhich. Hadn't seen a picture of it so I just ordered it bc it sounded good. It's bread with ham in the middle and the cheese is melted on top of the sandwich. Actually good I recommend trying it better than the croissant sandwhich. Quiche was good not bad not out of this world delicious. It's a quiche. Salad was good but too much dressing next time I'd get it on the side. Got a chocolate chip cookie (has nuts in it FYI) but good. You do need to ask for things warmed up because they will not do it if you don't. The reason I gave it 3 stars is services was bad. We asked for water twice never got it. They brought my latte spilled everywhere and even tho we asked for the cookie and croissant warmed up they didn't. If it was full I would be more understanding but we came at a time when there was a lull no line to order and empty seats (a lot) so they weren't full. Compared to when we left about an hour later where the line was out the door and people were standing waiting for available seats. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time. I had to send my omelet back because it had a hard piece of plastic in it. My lunch guest had to send hers back as well because something was in it. The omelets were okay on the second try. We asked for plastic dinnerware because the silverware smelled like dead fish, an obvious sign that the dishwasher needed to be cleaned. They served my guest a crossiant on a chipped plate. It was not a pleasant experience. I tipped well because the servers had to deal with this and because restaurants are suffering now. Had veggie quiche and it was delicious. Washed it down with the best chai latte I've ever had. The service was so friendly. Sat outside because my friend had his dog with him. The server brought a bowl of water for the dog! And another server asked if it would be ok to give the dog a treat. my friend ordered the egg ratatouille and gave his compliments to the chef. Been waiting for over 40 minutes to get our food... still waiting as I write this review. Our drinks haven't even arrived... had to ask for water. Sitting in the main room and there is only one server working. They really should have 2/3. Hopefully the food is with the wait. By the look of the avocado toast, not worth your money.
