Had a wonderful breakfast/lunch today, passing through Ukiah, and will make an effort to stop on any future trips through the area. Delicious food! The roasted potatoes have rosemary you can taste in each bite, and the scrambled eggs and toasted were equally tasty. Pleasantly surprised!! We ran into this place looking for another place. So glad we did. Hubby had basic breakfast with sourdough toast. People always think breakfast can't be messed up but we have experienced places that can't roast toast or cook eggs . This is NOT one of those places. This cafe does breakfast right !! Good breakfast. Great service. Oh and they have gluten free stuff too. I had a gluten free maple muffin it was yummy. So now we have our go to breakfast place in Ukiah!! read more

Yes the prices are high, but the food is so good. My son and I can go as early as 6am and they will serve us a great breakfast. The breadsticks are amazing and the best ones in town. Love this place and all its variety of food. read more

Wow! Everything for the particular, GF scones and farm-fresh eggs. Almond milk for the hubbys coffee. My first experience here was not so great. I ordered a pizza to go after seeing one on here. When I went to pick it up a very young person took my money. When I got home it looked like the same young person made my pizza. It looked nothing like the one I saw on here. They lost me as a customer for three years. Last week a friend asked me to breakfast so I suggest we try this place. The service was excellent the place was clean and the food was good. I will be back for breakfast again and maybe even try lunch. read more

Great breakfasts, but the best dish is the kale salad. Mamas makes the best one: kale, chopped into small pieces, slivered almonds, diced roasted carrots, dressed in a lemony dressing topped with a poached egg and a bit of sharp cheddar cheese. However today I ordered the kale salad to go and when I returned to my office I discovered it had no dressing. As much as I love mamas café I recommend eating there only when you eat at the restaurant where any omissions can be corrected immediately. read more

BEST BREAKFAST IN UKIAH You won't find any fake waffles here. This place is a little pricey for the small plates, but it is worth it if you appreciate good, home-cooked from scratch food. Only complaint is they use ketchup with GMO high fructose corn syrup in it (its on the table and listed in the ingredients) I wish they would start using a better ketchup especially considering the price we pay for a plate. I love their three egg plate with the avocado add in option and the home fries, they are cooked to perfection every time. fresh squeezed orange juice and house baked baked goods. read more

5 STAR BREAKFAST it's amazing how such a simple meal such as breakfast can get messed up by so many diners and cafes out there... Mama's Cafe and Bakery has perfected every aspect of the meal! i arrived just before 10am midweek and glad i did...because shortly after there was a nonstop queue to order at the counter. i like the casualness of ordering at the counter and finding your own seat (inside the cute interior or back in the cozy patio). i ordered a simple breakfast and everything was perfect: eggs done just right, delicious brown toast with fresh made jam, bacon cooked crisp and potatoes crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside...finished up with a nice slice of orange. it's a super simple meal yet they did it perfectly. as a coffee addict and snob their coffee is very delicious! and with free refills! the only thing i can think of to suggest in improvement is to offer an option to get a refill of coffee without having to join the lengthy queue of people waiting to order. oh and one other thing...their baked goods (cookies, muffins, scones, breads) looked so fresh and fantastic...they bake them all themselves on site. I'll be back to try them tomorrow :) i wish there was a restaurant as awesome as mama's in my home town! read more

We've had only breakfast here so far so this review does not cover other meals. Food: very good. Husband and I ordered "Good Morning Ukiah". Potatoes crispy. Bacon excellent quality. I substituted yummy muffin for toast. Espresso and coffee: very good. Service: excellent. Friendly and give the extra effort in service. Atmosphere: good. Homey, comfortable, tastefully decorated. Chilly. Bring a good sweater. Hopefully management will turn up the heat! read more

We stopped here for breakfast on the way home from Redwood country. Very cute inside. You order up at the counter which was nice since we wanted to get back on the road. We ordered your basic egg, sausage/bacon, and toast breakfast and it did not disappoint! I mostly LOVED the apple sausage. DELICIOUS! This place is like a V-8 hitting on all eight cylinders. It all seems right. Wonderful latte, easy over eggs done to perfection, waffle be jamm'n, and don't ignore the chicken apple sausage. The humble frumpy exterior will fool you. Cute and clean inside with plenty of TLC on the coffee refills and service. I will seek this place out again for breakfast . We have been here several times seated inside and outside with our miniature dog. Went there today, asked to wait ten minutes, seated inside with menus (outdoor area not open). Then a woman came to our table and we were told dogs are not allowed !! Why seat us in the first place? Why the policy inconsistency? Very embarrassing!! This is a nice little breakfast spot in downtown Ukiah. The main reason I like this place is the atmosphere. Its a cute space and is a relaxed environment. The waitress staff is always nice and helpful as well. I have had the eggs benedict, the waffle with pecans and bananas and the oatmeal. All have been great. I do wish there was bigger portions. My sister had an small egg scramble and there were about 6 fried potatoes and a slice of toast. It just looked under portioned to me. That's about the only downfall. But it's a nice breakfast place that I enjoy going to. read more

I wanted to love this place...was even willing to overlook a lot in order to like this place. Unfortunately, the unreliable kitchen staff, rude wait staff, and offensive bus girl added up to a memorably bad experience today, after previously mixed experiences. It wasn't the first time I found an unprofessional and unwelcoming "welcome," followed by a plate that had both overcooked and cold food at the same time. It Was the first time that all of that came together with a side of incredibly awful service. Too bad the staff doesn't recognize that when things go wrong, most problems can be fixed with a simple, "I'm sorry, let me take care of that." Or, here's a novel concept for them, "How can we fix that?" Instead, after my waitress (a nice young woman with long blond hair) took the problem plate away, the tattooed waitress in adjacent section told me that I shouldn't expect a hot dish to actually be hot for me to eat it, and chastised me for returning it. Then the busgirl shared her unsolicited opinion of my return. Perhaps the lack of competition means they think they can ignore all the usual rules for success. Don't they know rude waitstaff and inattentive or poorly trained kitchen staff can cause the experience of a guest to go from potentially great to really bad, and ruin a meal? And make an unforgettable impression. I rarely ask to speak to the owner, but this experience was so bad I did. And discovered how little the owner cares. What's wrong here? Are the owners just laundering marijuana money?? Perhaps that was my problem; I should have had some of Mendo's biggest export before eating here, then it wouldn't have been so disappointing! read more

Amazing spot - we went for breakfast they have wonderful daily specials and great lattes. Nice environment to bring kids, you can sit inside or outside, and everyone is very friendly.
