I decided to get the popular spicy seafood soup that had sausage, tofu and I think it also had spam in it. I was a little scared. OKAY.... this is my DREAM broth. Have you ever tried those top ramen or cup o'noodle style Korean spicy noodles? I love them but after I had it, my lips were chapped for a week. I thought to myself "if only there were a fresh version of this, I'd eat it all the time. It would be especially good for anyone who had a cold. THIS IS IT PEOPLE! They also have a ramen there and I'm guessing it's the same broth. I had the regular version and it was plenty spicy but you could order it extra spicy! It came bubbling to the table, temperature hot and spicy hot. At the end, I tried the sausage, a baby scallop and a squid piece. I wasn't going to eat them bc typically seafood is chewy in a strip mall restaurant and I'm not into that. It was soft and not chewy! The sticky wings were delicious too and cooked perfectly. Nice portion too! My only complaint, and I know they can't help it bc it's a small place, is that every time the door opened a freezing breeze came in. At one point a kid was holding the door open, then a member of staff was holding it open while saying goodbye to customers and having a conversation- so uncomfortable. I guess I should mention, they told me a popular dish was the sushi roll looking things, but I've had the vegetable ones here before and I didn't like them at all. I came here on a double date with friends from out of town. Since this was a new place, we decided to check it out. I didn't realize how small the place is, or how pricey it is! I had my hesitation about price and quantity like you might have but once we took the plunge I didn't give it another thought. I too, have been eating Korean my whole life and in a good way this place is a somewhat of a trip Away from your typical table cook joint. The atmosphere is classy and sleek. The service is quick. The food is meticulously prepared! The typical notes one would be familiar with are elevated to new and exciting levels. My wife said the pickles turnip was the best she EVER had. I can't disagree. If value is your goal instead of unique inspired quality then maybe skip coming here. There are other Korean places on the east side. But I think you'd regret it. This place opened up a couple months ago and I have been eyeing it every time getting a hair cut. Finally get a chance to try it out and it is a good find. Walking into the restaurant on a thursday evening (6pm) the restaurant is half full. Stood there for about 5 minutes before the lone waiter came out of the back-of-house area and seated me and walked away. About 8 minutes later he asked if I was ready to order, but I never got a menu. He quickly returned with one (shamefully) and scampered away. Fine, the kid is probably new so whatever. Glancing over the menu there are so many options. I finally settled on the galbi-jjim bibimbap and man was that killer. The short rib that came with it was spoon tender. Mixed in with the sauce it was perfect. I wish there was a stone bowl option to get the crispy rice texture and to keep it hot....that and an egg, but man that was good. It comes with radish kimchee along with a bowl of fish cake soup which was decent. Overall, it is a little steeper that other establishment (my dish was $19.99), but oh so good. The menu and the tasty food is enough to encourage me to give this place another try. Hopefully with some more experience the staff will pick it up! read more

This place has a truly homey vibe, the servers & owners are all friendly! The kimbap was HUGE and was filled with yummy fillings - no skimping at all. It also comes with some type of soup on the side and radish kimchi. The kalbi jjim was super tender and the tteokboki was served with shrimp tempura, egg roll, and gyoza. We also had the soondooboo, which had scallops in it. I personally loved how all the food came presented and the interior detail of the place. It is more pricey than your regular Korean restaurants but it was worth it. We definitely plan on coming back! read more

I can honestly say this will be the only time I eat here which is not to say the food was bad. It was actually quite good. Very flavorful and also the decor is cute and makes for a nice place to meet friends. However, two huge issues: price and portion size. The dishes are way overpriced-- granted they may use better ingredients but the mark up is too great to ever convince me as a consumer to not go elsewhere where there's just as good dishes at a comparatively lower price. Secondly the portion size for everything was so small except for the Katsu over rice which was pretty big. My husband's galbi jjim barely had any galbi. It's one of the best place you can eat "Korean style street food of 2010s". I've always looking for something like this, but most of restaurants were 1990s style street food. (1990s are good, but they are everywhere. This restaurant is unique in this area) Also they adjusted spicy level to not-too-spicy, so more people can enjoy spicy Korean street food. And I was able to see many non-Korean guests enjoying foods in here. There are few downsides of this restaurant. First of all, it's "expensive". But I would NOT say overpriced. I'm pretty satisfied with price-to-taste value since this place is unique. This restaurant is crowded. Sometimes there might be a delay or server may not be able to respond you immediately. Service was okay in overall but I feel there's room for improvement. Overall, I really recommend here and will visit again soon. Until they lower their prices it's going to be a NO for me. The flavor of the food was just okay, nothing great or amazing. Just okay. (Insert exasperated shrug.) However when you factor in the cost of one appetizer (Tempura Shrimp), one entree (Ban Ban Chicken), tax and tip - $42 is entirely too much for just OK food and minimal service. The restaurant space is simple, clean and not overly crowded. It's located in a strip mall/ retail complex so parking is shared with the other shops and is therefore limited based on the traffic all around. Food wise I ordered the Tempura Shrimp and Ban Ban Chicken. The shrimp was classic and unsurprising. It was light, crispy and had a simple flavor. It was served with regular soy sauce. Nothing overwhelming. I would order again but it's not necessarily a favorite. The Ban Ban Chicken included 6 regular Korean Fried Chicken Wings and 6 Yangnyeom sauced Chicken Wings. The chicken was under-seasoned. The regular wings just tasted like friend chicken not the traditional double fry I was looking for. The Yangnyeom sauced chicken was similarly under-seasoned, and the majority of the flavor came from the sauce. As the chicken cooled the sauce got thicker and thicker. I would say the sauce was only slightly spicy. It left me with only a slight tingle on my lips. Nothing uncomfortable. If you don't like spicy you might want to steer clear. Conclusion: If cost is of no concern give it a try. Else I would skip it. read more

Definitely happy to see a new Korean restaurant in the Factoria area. Really like that the interior was clean and modern. Service was good with friendly staffs. Most of the items on the menu look really good but I went with seafood ramyun as I was craving for some hot noodles soup. The broth was good, but the portion was very small with only a few pieces of thin slice squids, a shrimp, and a mussel. It's a bit pricey for what it is and they don't serve a lot of banchan like other Korean restaurants. My noodles only came with a small side of radish kimchi. The galbi jjim (braised beef short ribs) was boneless, very tender, and so savory with a hint of sweetness. The bibimbap consisted of white rice with shredded carrots, bean sprouts, shiitake mushroom slices, egg slices, julienned squash, and spinach. You can mix in the bibimbap spicy sauce to taste. I got the kimchi cheese jun, chadol jjolmyun, and my hubby got the chicken katsu, and my dad got the premium seafood ramen. The jun came out crispy, the cheese was melty, and it was perfect. The katsu also had a lovely crispy crust, and my jjolmyun was sooo good -- perfect chewy texture, the sauce was a great balance of sweet and spicy, and I loved the fresh grilled brisket. The ambience is cute and modern. We came at 11:15A and didn't wait, although the restaurant filled up quickly afterwards. Parking is tight, so I recommend coming early. Food here is no doubt good. Very authentic Korean comfort food. The rice cakes and Kim bap are on point as is their fried chicken. Prices are pretty high though given that all these dishes are considered pretty cheap food by Korean standards. I guess there's really not a ton of competition around these parts when it comes to Korean food so they can charge whatever the market will bear. The fact that it's dangerously close to where I live means I'll definitely be back. read more

They claim that their food is comfort food and I 100% completely agree with that! Each dish has its own uniqueness to it in terms of flavor and variety. The food here isn't bad. A little overpriced but considering that options for Korean food are slim pickings on the East side this is a solid pick. But I would not recommend dine in. In fact we may never return to this restaurant dine in ever again. It's a relatively small space and they do brisk take out and food delivery business. Looks like they prioritize the take out orders over the diners which means overall service is very slow. It took 30 mins for someone to even take our order. It also looks like they might batch cook orders. This means if you order the fried chicken they might wait until they get a few more chicken orders so they can cook them at the same time. Of course that means if you ordered first you are waiting longer. They also bring food out one item at a time in no particular order. If you are eating with a group this results in awkwardness as someone feels bad digging in and someone is left twiddling thumbs and waiting. We had a party of 4 and it took almost 40 mins (after placing our order) to get the last item we ordered, and only after we asked if it was on its way. This whole time you are seeing large take out orders being packaged and picked up. Very frustrating. If you choose take out or delivery you might not get the food as fresh as if you were dine in but the trade off in respect for your time is worth it. read more

I'm writing this review to see if it will get deleted again... maybe after once there's no use in writing another but since I got to go back and try their food again I felt I could write another review. Everything we tried at mama's kitchen is of high quality and delicious. I will admit that it's a bit overpriced BUT honestly I told my husband that I would rather pay a few more dollars and know I'll enjoy my meal rather than pay the average price and risk regretting eating my meal. Their bibimbap includes really well made ingredients which you can see were all prepared with so much care. In this traditional Korean dish, you're supposed to prepare every ingredient separately AND supposed to flavor each separately too... some with different seasoning. Most restaurants I feel just barely put any effort into each ingredient because they know that the spicy sauce (gochujang) will mask the favor a bit. But nope, that's not how to do it and Mamas Kitchen knows that. Just with this one dish I know this establishment cares. While in Bellevue, my wife and I were intrigued by the "Galbi-Jjim Bibimbap" & Korean Fried Chicken as well as this Korean restaurant being number one in this city, so we decided to stop by. The restaurant was very clean, and followed the CV19 guidelines very well. We ordered the Galbi-Jjim, Bibimbap and the Korean Fried Chicken (without the sauce). Galbi-jjim is a sweeter tasting braised beef short ribs, and to me -- it was not too great, but not too bad. The vegetables are fresh but the meat could have been a bit more rich and meaty -- and it is not much quantity for its price of $19.99. The chicken wings were freshly fried and well-cooked, but it is a bit on the heavier breading side, and I have had better for less than $17.99 (12 pcs) that they offer. The business seemed like it was ran by a diligent family who was efficient and know their business, and the staff that was serving was good, but not proactive -- they did the minimum unless you ask for something. Our tab came out to be $43.97 for the two dishes plus a drink, and with a 15% tip -- it comes out to exactly $50. It is good, but not worth the money in my opinion, even though you are dining in Bellevue, so I give 4 stars. read more

I saw the hype review and brought my wife to try it out. We order the wings right away because i was told from my co worker that this would take awhile(which it did). I had order a other dish and those dish came out first. The only reason for the 3-star is was for the service. Food was good but the lack of attentive service. Not saying a waiter or waitress should always hover you and asking if you are okay( they didn't do that either). The waiter was young and kinda forgot us regarding request for water and more paper cause of the wings. He would set up tables and water it at the beginning . Later we would ask for napkins and water...he went to set up another table and then went to another table to proceed with giving them water. He finally came back when we were done and about to leave (after I gave my card to the waitress) and he said" sorry i forgot and you guys can take the water too" in the middle of it ... my wife said no we don't need it because we were leaving anyway. Good food is one thing but training your staff member to provide good customer service goes hand to hand. I probably not come back due to service alone. People probably think "oh this guy being to harsh" but it's not really...it's a feedback if their managers read it so they can provide and train the waiter better. Bad customer service loses business. Nowadays restaurants can't have that. Thats why there another restaurant we are a regular weekly. This visit because of the hype and it was good/okay. We got the kimchi cheese pancake and the tteokbokki. Both tasted good but were missing the "wow" factor I was expecting. Kimchi cheese pancake - Very filling because of the cheese. And primarily tasted of cheese - almost like a mildy spicy fried cheese omelette? - Good for ~2 people probably, maybe 3. Tteokbokki - A surprisingly small portion. It was really half the size of a normal takeout container. I guess that's good for portion control, but at $15, I wasn't sure it was worth it. Overall, I love the idea of having a locally-run Korean comfort food restaurant in the area. But at this price, it should be less of a comfort food and more of a solid, well-prepared meal, which it really just didn't feel like.
