This is the best pizza place I've been to in a long time. The pizza tasted delicious, was hot off oven and the cute baby ice cream afterwards really makes the experience that much better. The service was exceptional! We had Gabriella as a waitress, and she was very attentive with us and we always had anything we needed, she enhanced the experience and went above and beyond, definitely made an already great experience that much better. Huge portions, Tiny prices- what's not to love? I had the large sausage platter with cheese which came with 3 sausages, peppers onions, pasta all drenched in cheese. Yum. We also split an antipasto salad which was yummy but maybe could have used some olives. No sweat. Bread was so delicious too. The 2 best things- they sauce your leftover container so no dry leftover pasta. And they bring everyone a tiny ice cream cone. True love. I would like to go back for pizza because it looks great. Called in a pizza and pasta (pre-made of course) at 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday when they opened. Was told it would be 45 mins to come pick up. I arrived at 4:40, waited until 5:25, and they fetched both the box with my pizza inside and the pasta, both setting on top of the oven for 45 MINUTES and I paid $35 for the privilege of dried out pizza and cold pasta with NO CHEESE!! After folks were talking about Mama's Pizza on a local Facebook Foodie page, I decided to go for lunch today. I went around 1:30, and was lucky to find a seat. I got the half Deluxe Sampler Platter with baked cheese, and finished about 1/3 of it. Got lunch for the next couple days. Last time I was there was in high school, around '78. It was our preferred drunk food. Cheesy Hot Dago. Though I noticed that they changed the name to "Cheesy Hot Diego", since someone must have told them that "dago" is a derogatory term for Italians. Anyway, delicious. Friendly service. I think I prefer Yarusso's gravy to theirs, but theirs was still awesome. Oh, and Yelp says they don't have WiFi. They do. Cheese so thick it creates a ladder down your throat. My daughter complained that she didn't like Mama's because it makes her choke. Mama's features an all you can eat spaghetti for only $8 on monday and tuesday. We opted for the famous pizza and it was super cheesy but very good as well Ordered a "Half and Half" with sausage and pepp. The sausage was much better, pepp was a bit tame, needed some crispness or more quantity of pepp on it Very challenging to eat, I would ask for a pizza cutter next time as all the cheese melts back together. Also not a huge greasy pizza fan and there was small pools of oil at nearly every cut corner. TVs on the wall of every booth. Hole in the wall atmosphere. Very kid friendly and staff does a great job. Similar greasy thin crust style that many great pizza establishments feature in Minnesota including Reds Savoy, Carbone's, and Fireside. read more

Mmmm and I ain't just talking about the pizza! Alright, I have not been to Mama's in years and now I know what has been missing in my life - more of Tony's spicy and tasty red sauce. Dining companion and I are sitting around on a random Wednesday evening and he says, "I'm hungry for pizza." He never says that and I always love pizza. I say, "We're close to Mama's, let's go there." He said, "Okay, I've never been there." We head it and Tony flashes his bright white, nice smile and we seat ourselves. Immediately we are offered something to drink and start looking at the menu. I seriously haven't been in there since the revamp. I'm checking everything out and watching everyone. I get a mini sausage and pineapple pizza and dinner salad. He orders a small "Flavor Explosion!" Flavor Explosion = sausage, pepperoni, pineapple, and banana peppers. We can never agree on toppings, so we always have to get separate pizzas. Skip the salad - it's iceberg and a cut up tomato. Nothing to write home about. His 'small' pizza comes out and it's 1/2 the size of the table! My mini comes out and it's huge too. We dig right in. It's hot, fresh, loaded with toppings, and soooo good. Dining companion said, "This really hit the spot. It's just the kind of pizza I wanted!" The end of the meal is still topped off with the mini ice cream cone. The service was good, Tony is cute, and the pizza is awesome! I've been obsessed with another place and don't live close to Mama's, so I've forgotten how really, truly good it is! I happened to be in the area around lunch time a few weeks ago, and I decided That it would be a good time to check this place out. I'm a big fan of thin crust pizza, and with all the fantastic reviews this place has gotten I needed to try it for myself. I was not disappointed. The dining room was crowded, but I did manage to snag a table and was soon greeted by a friendly server. I ordered a "mini" pizza with sausage, hoping it would fill me up. Well, I shouldn't have been worried. The mini came out and it must have been 12" across. The crust was thin and crisp. Perhaps a bit firmer than I like, but still great. The sauce was rich and flavorful, the cheese baked a golden brown, and the sausage, oh the sausage. Huge chunks of delicious italian sausage generously graced the pie. I ended up needing to get a to go box , and had the rest for dinner that night. Prices were very reasonable and you even get a mini soft serve cone with the check. I can't wait to return. ETA: I returned here for dinner with my roommate. I had to make not of the bread. They bake their own and its absolutely delicious. Warm and soft in the center with a perfectly crispy crust. A side is only $1.00 and its like almost half a loaf! My roommate is a bit of a germaphobe and she was extremely impressed with the thoroughness with which they cleaned the place wiping down pretty much every surface with disinfectant. read more

The only food I've had here is the pizza. It's too friggin good to bring me to try anything else, tho I'm sure it's all good. The inside is small so I suggest getting it to go or getting here early, but if you have to wait for a table you won't be disappointed. I came here with two friends because we were looking for an affordable dinner (all college students here, ha!). A glance at Mama's Pizza's menu shows you just how affordable it is. A full entree is under $10. In total, the three of us with one drinking wine was $33. So, affordable Mama's is, which was the key thing we were after. Beyond the great price, this place is definitely a homey sort of family-owned style Italian restaurant. They pack a lot of people into a small space. The decor is a bit odd and mis-matched, but it has that sort of classical Italian look overall with huge, multicolored chandeliers and a 3D mural. The service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It felt like being at someone's house. As for the food, it was good; but it wasn't fancy or complicated. It was Italian that a competent cook could make at home with a decent recipe. I had a pasta sampler. The sauce was a standard tomato sauce, it didn't have any meat or a lot of seasoning. The pasta was good, tasted like your typical boxed pastas. I had a meatball which was good, just a teensy bit tough. My friends had the pizza, they had no complaints, but they'd eat anything so I can't get a good read on the pizza. Overall, a decent option for a night out if you just want that dining out feeling and to avoid cooking, but for $10 I could make a lot of comparable pasta at home, the service is really what saved this place for me from being a three star rating. read more

If you love cheese, this is the place for you! We had lunch here today and it was AWESOME!! Arriving just after noon, we had about a 15 minute wait to be seated. No biggie, small joint, it was lunch time and my theory is that it's usually a good sign if there's a wait. We had a $25 gift certificate so we had to order enough for left overs ;) We had the Cheese Hot Diego, "mini" deluxe pizza and "mini" flavor explosion pizza. I'm not sure where the mini comes from but with all the toppings and cheese these pizzas are easily enough for two people. The crust was thin but really crispy and cheesey! The Cheese Hot Diego was huge! Lots of sauce and lots of cheese. Couldn't get enough of the sauce and the cheese. The service was friendly and efficient. Plus, you gotta love the free little ice cream cone after your meal, so save room. Ice cream all the way to the bottom of the cone too! :) Looking forward to our next Mama's meal. read more

We just discovered this gem of a place this summer. We decided to take the kids out on the last day of school and wanted to try a place we'd never been. Since then we've been back a number of times! This place is so charming. It's a fairly small colorful dining room that fits a surprising amount of customers. There's a definite Mom and Pop/ Family owned charm here. There's always someone in the dining room whom the waitress is calling by their first name which is always a good sign! The Pizza is excellent. We recommend "The Flavor Explosion" It's gosh darn delicious!! You also can't go wrong with the Sausage Platter is the perfect plate, where the peppers and onions are just as delicious as the sausage and mostaccioli. And the Lasagna is absolutely delicious! The cheese alone is a standout! Everything is served with fresh baked bread by a kind server and you get a surprise mini soft serve cone at the end of every meal. If you are on the fence about coming here, it's time to jump over! The price is right and the portions are borderline insane. You'll eat for days if you order a large platter! In a word: incredible! We arrived to find only a short wait for a table. The man behind the counter making the pizzas we found out was the owner, Tony. He took time to talk to us, asking if it was our first time there. I had been once before for lunch many years ago, but it was my significant other's first time. He thanked us for coming and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our server, Dante, was just as friendly and welcoming. We ordered a little bit of everything; a pizza, and some small pastas (the Sampler: spaghetti, mostacciololi and ravioli, and the stuffed shells, both baked with cheese). we were surprised at the generosity of the owner who provided a complimentary cheese sticks. We wouldn't have thought to order it, as it looked relatively simple...cheese on a pizza crust. It was utterly amazing! The seasoning on the cheese and crust was incredible, and the red sauce was absolutely perfect. The small pastas were very generous portions; we struggled to finish them (and I'm not one to push away from the table), and then the pizza came! We were both able to put down a small piece or two of the cheesy, saucy, perfectly browned pie before throwing in the towel. We had plenty of leftovers. We were able to put down our complimentary ice cream cone deserts somehow. We thanked Tony for his generosity and warmth on the way out. We had initially planned on going to another popular italian place near the Xcel Energy Center, buy due to there being an event, we couldn't get in easily, and didn't went to wait. Best food decision ever! while I was telling Tony of our plan to eat elsewhere but ended up at Mama's, and how amazed we were, He caught a glimpse of the hospital visitor tag my Significant other wore, and asked if she was a nurse. We explained my daughter was in the hospital, and he asked how she was doing and expressed genuine concern for her and wishes and prayers for her to get better. It's clear that Mama's food is exceptional, but what puts it over the top is that the people are as warm and genuine and caring as you'll find. In these times, that's rare...and it's why Mama's has made us customers for life. Was the first time trying their food and I have to say as an Italian American, they need some lessons in Italian cuisine. The meatballs had not taste, the lasagna had no ricotta cheese, and the ricotta cheese in the stuffed shells was horrible. This is my neighborhood Italian joint, and I think it does my neighborhood proud. For a very reasonable price, you can get yourself a plate of pasta that is thoroughly drenched in sour, flavorful tomato sauce and weighed down with enough creamy cheese that it would hurt kind of a lot if you dropped that plate of food on your toes. People come here for the pizza quite a bit, which is fine, but I generally show up when I want some simple Eastside-style spaghetti-meatballs of the sort that you can imagine being on the tables of blue collar urban family homes in the 1950s. On this visit, I got the small sampler which included ravioli, mostaccioli, and spaghetti with a meatball. The mostaccioli was a little undercooked, but that isn't usually a problem. It was a generous and tasty meal. I've gotten the large before and it was way too much. So what I'm saying is that you get a lot of food here. I always leave very satisfied. The service is friendly and the prices are excellent. The dining room is pretty small, which enhances the atmosphere but it can feel very crowded. But takeout is a big part of their business, so consider them for that. Lovely neighborhood Italian joint! read more

This has been the best pizza and what we get for special pizza occasions for as long as I can remember. The size and toppings are generous and so tasty - the sauce is amazing and the crust is perfect. We usually get a plain cheese or a sausage but have gone wild and gotten "supreme"-style toppings and it's always been very good, though the more toppings you add, the more likely you will need to use a fork to eat. :) The staff are friendly and care about the neighborhood and your experience. When dining-in was still a thing (pre-pandemic), I once got an order of lasagna and the slice was as big as my face! I highly recommend Mama's Pizza. OH! And they have a neat promotion, on the large pizza boxes, there is a tab you can cut out and when you save 10 of them, you can redeem them for a free large pizza, which is a nice loyalty program without needing to sign up for anything. read more

The sauce was good and the toppings were very good. Their sausage was fabulous. It was very filling and I'm a big boy. Only downside was the crust. Not bad just a little dry. Some of their other dishes looked great. The building is older and their dining room is somewhat small and maybe can only seat about 40 people. Overall, not bad.
