I'm a regular in New Orleans, and I know that the best food is far from Bourbon Street. However, sometimes you find yourself hungry and need to get whatever is closest. A quick search led us to Mambo's, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, despite being in the most touristy part of town! The seafood was so fresh and tasty--this is always my barometer of a good restaurant here!--we got the raw oysters and crab cakes to start our meal. Because the pricing wasn't trying to gouge the tourists too badly, we went all out here for our first lunch in town. My boyfriend had never been to New Orleans before, so we had the Taste of New Orleans sampler (red beans and rice, gumbo, and etouffe) and I was blown away by the quality. It was SO GOOD! Service was friendly and attentive. Our drinks stayed full as we enjoyed our food on the rooftop patio and watched the people wander down Bourbon. Mambo's absolutely saved us during Thanksgiving week when it felt impossible to find a spot serving past 9pm for four adults and a teen after our tour wrapped up. My boyfriend and I had been here two years ago and remembered how amazing the étouffée was, so we knew it was a solid choice, and it delivered again. We scored the perfect table up on their rooftop patio, which set the tone for such a great meal. I got a delicious fruity mango cocktail, my boyfriend ordered a Mule with étouffée, and I went for the Taste of New Orleans sampler. OMG this place was so good! I ordered the seafood platter that came with everything! My favorite item was the catfish, then the fired shrimp,....they give lots of fries, but that is okay! Everything tasted so good I did not even need any hot sauce! We had an excellent server and was highly entertained! They have a 3rd floor and a cool elevator ride up. This place is an absolute 10/10 every time we come in town for saints games, we make sure to swing through and grab some food and drinks. Never once have we ever been disappointed, the food is always amazing and the service is some of the best you'll find in the city. Our waitress Mashawn was amazing. So we ordered rockafella and they came out COLD asf super cold then the manager was given the food back and he literally had to have blown hot air over them because they were STILL COLD. So my husband sent the food back discussed and upset the manager told us he just heated up instead of providing us with a new plate of oysters. They came out still cold. The guy that greeted us at the door was great! He is where he needs to be! Pulling people in is a perfect job for him! The waitress Britney was nice enough but we only saw her maybe 5 times but to be fair the people started coming in. Food I would rate it as fair. Not 100% sure that the cook knew that we ordered a blackened ribeye because there was absolutely no seasoning on the steak. Service was very good, we made reservations for a Monday early evening and it was not very busy. Definitely make sure to make reservations in advance, especially in the evenings or on weekends because it does get crowded. Mambos oysters: MUST GET! So delicious, even my husband ate them and he doesn't like oysters at all! My son is picky and doesn't do much seafood and liked them also! Taste of New Orleans: it's worth a try, especially to get a feel for some of the main New Orleans dishes. The star for me was the crawfish etouffe. The gumbo was good but etouffe really stole the show. Red beans and rice was probably runner up. It was very Smokey but I like that and had a sausage in it which was good too Hurricane: theirs was probably my favorite I had on my trip. It had a cognac in it as well that paired nicely and I'm not really a cognac drinker. This is a touristy place in the middle of Bourbon Street, but it's actually worth going to. read more

Food was delicious!! So creamy and flavorful. Service was fast at the time we went which was around 4pm, friendly waiter that recommended things to us and was patient with us asking questions. Really loud inside so be prepared to yell while eating but then again it's bourbon st so you yell everywhere you go lol kind of crowed space but plenty of seating. We arrived and there was no line and didn't mind waiting. The guy told us two minutes. Another guy came up and said oh you're fine and the first guy said no go stand in line. Kept stringing us along and ended up waiting 30 minutes even though we kept saying we just wanted a drink and not food. He took cash from people and let them in before us. I came here the first night after landing in New Orleans. We were tired from the flight but wanted to explore Bourbon Street. We had Mambo's on our list of restaurants to try and were excited about the food. We arrived at a line of people outside Mambo's door, but we were seated without 20 minutes. Ordering our food was a little tricky, but everything came out correctly. We got the Mambo's Famous Oysters, Gator Tail Bites, Taste of New Orleans, and Fried Shrimp Po-Boy. For drinks, we ordered the Mambo Mule and Passion Punch. The Mambo's Oysters were okay. The texture was too creamy, and I didn't get a good oyster-to-sauce ratio, but I'm glad I tried them. We requested that the gator tail be fried, which was a unique experience. It DID taste like chicken, but it had the texture of fish. I enjoyed it. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans for my entree, and woooow, I didn't realize I liked beans until I tried red beans cooked the southern way. I didn't care for the sausage; it reminded me too much of breakfast sausage. The rice, gumbo, and crawfish etouffee were delicious! I scuffed my meal down and left extremely full and happy! My husband ordered the Fried Shrimp Poboy, but he couldn't finish it; the sandwich had too much horseradish. The drinks packed a punch! I stopped by for oysters and got to try a variety at Mambo's. They have two kinds of chargrilled oysters; The Oyster Rockefeller has spinach, bacon and cheese while the Mambo's Famous Oysters has Cajun sauce and cheese. My favorite was the latter. After a dozen of these, my husband and I ended our meal with fresh, raw oysters. I have no complaints! We sat on the upper level with views of the street which was nice! Kyla was the sweetest waiter. I made my first visit to Mambo's a few weeks ago and enjoyed Josh's service along with the carnival pasta and was eager to come back to try something else. After contending with the Mardi Gras crowds and traffic I managed to make my way over and sat at the bar to be served by Paige and her hospitality is awesome along with her skillset single handedly running the bar. First up was the crab cake appetizer and I have one word - perfect. The ratio of sauce to crab cake was balanced just right and the flavor was outstanding. In truth the portion paired with a side can be an entree. This was followed by the blackened redfish lafourche. The serving itself is very generous and the flavor is terrific but it felt a little dry. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and say perhaps they were so busy because of the festivities that dishes were flying out the kitchen. Perhaps a little more sauce could have done the trick but the fried crawfish accompaniment was great and I loved the collared greens. When Dad and I were walking down Bourbon Street, we could not decide where we wanted to eat. We'd already been in the city for several days and we thought we had tried all the different types of creole fare. Dad and I scoured the menus of several places, and we decided to give Mambo's a try. Fortunately, we got right in, and we were able to get Kyanna as our server. She was AWESOME! I'm sure the rest of the staff there are great as well but if I ever went back, I would definitely want her. The one thing that I had not tried while I was in NOLA this time was fried shrimp, so I decided to order the fried shrimp platter. Dad didn't sway from his habit of ordering the charbroiled oysters. The service was fast, and the food came out steaming hot. To be perfectly honest, fried shrimp is fried shrimp to me. There are different styles of fried shrimp (beer battered, tempura, corn meal, etc.), so for me what makes great fried shrimp is the texture and flavor of the shrimp and the crispiness of the breading. Mambo's cooking staff knocked it out of the park. The first bite into the shrimp was nearly heavenly. The breading crunched as the flavor of the shrimp hit my taste buds like a tidal wave. I've had good shrimp dishes, but this dish was great! If you made me pick something bad, my only complaint is that the fries were just average. Dad raved about his oysters and that made me very happy because this trip to NOLA was for him. 100% recommend a visit to Mambo's and if you go, ask for Kyanna!!! A note about my New Orlean's review: Back in December of 2024, my family lost the most loving and selfless woman you could ever imagine. My mom passed away after many years of suffering with botched scoliosis surgeries, crippling rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple stomach ulcer surgeries brought on by all the medications. My entire family, especially my Dad, have been crushed by her loss. My Dad builds street rods and he and my mom used to travel to all the car shows everywhere they could once they became empty nesters and dad retired. One of the shows they used to go to was in Biloxi, MS. Every year they went, my dad would talk about how they wanted to go to New Orleans. Unfortunately, every time they went, something would happen to prevent them from going. I promised my Dad that I would get him to New Orleans to see the city and visit the WWII Museum. The trip was memorable, and I got to spend priceless time with the man who made me who I am today. New Orleans did not disappoint, and I am forever thankful for the city of New Orleans! read more

What a fabulous vibe and atmosphere this establishment is. I love the gators on the ceiling too. Cashmere was an amazing server, always attentive to our needs. She did hear a Cpl of things wrong but it did get busy but glad we were able sit quickly. Shout out to Gage from Willie's Boil House who wanted our first bite of alligator to be memorable. He did not steer us wrong. We had hush puppies, gator bites, 1/2 Mambo's oysters, buffalo chicken po boy, chargrilled chicken with mustard greens and mashed potatoes. It was cold, it was starting to rain, so I ducked in here around 3pm for a snack and a drink. I opted for the BBQ shrimp and a New Orleans Iced Tea (instead of Long Island, get it... they're so clever). They missed the mark on the bread that came with the BBQ Shrimp. Most of the other places at which I've ordered this dish have had some kind of crusty bread or toasted bread. This was just a cold-ass bun! Boooooo for the cold-ass bun! Mambo's seems to be a very popular spot in NOLA! The line was wrapped but I got in after waiting about 15 minutes because I was by myself and ended up sitting at the bar on the second level.
