I've been wanting to come here for years. I love all the videos and history on this place and it did not disappoint. Getting the dress code out of the way, as a traveling group, brining jackets and such was interesting (packing) but I will say, I like that they keep a strict standard up, as I feel it adds to the overall experience if wanting to dine in the first floor main. They have loaners (jackets), don't sweat it--you look great! Patrick, wow! Ask for him, he's the best, never too busy to chat or think about a question, as we had many or share a story. Go Blazers! We have been to many upscale places, but by far, this was the most friendly I'd say. Very welcoming and glad you're here vs. we should be grateful to be there. Food...omg, the turtle soup is a must try and the sherry on the side adds so much, I would say more salt, but I'm a salty lady. Foie Gras--yum, the fruit topping is what makes it, cooked to just done, melts. The potato app for just $10, was a hit for everyone, must get. Mains, we got two chicken selections (fantastic) and two daily fish dishes with the amazing seafood topping. Lump crab, juicy crawfish (in season) and shrimp, heavenly. And we really appreciate that the specials are brought in daily, and not the "this is what we need to get rid of." The pompano was just delivered hours before service. Dessert, sell me a whole cake and how do I make that bread pudding?! We had a fantastic time. Can't miss if you're in the city. We were a group of four, had many drinks, and found the prices quite reasonable, no sticker shock for such an experience. You can spend it all here or ball on a budget. :) Make a reservation right now.

What an absolute disappointment. First of all, the old white man who served today as a host looked my husband up and down then said "the green room right?" Apparently that's for the peasants? I think we were placed in the back room where staff get trained. Got to overlook the bathrooms the whole time so that was cool (not). While they were nice service was meh. Food needed salt and was overpriced but not mind blowing. I mean it's on Bourbon Street so what does one expect? So overpriced and pretentious. I will not go back. But hey got to try!

I enjoyed this meal so much!!!! From the turtle soup to the way everyone stopped and sang happy birthday to a guest, this was an EXPERIENCE!!!! I went in for lunch on a Saturday, and I made reservations and was seated promptly. The waiters are so attentive. I got a wedge salad, soufflé potatoes and oysters Rockefeller. The potatoes are something I've never had, they are almost air baked like chips? And empty inside. But so good!!!

Beyond a wonderful experience at Galatoire's celebrating our anniversary yesterday. Before even taking our drink order was taken we were brought champagne free of charge! Our waitress Patricia was one of the best I've ever had bar none and the food was spectacular. She made excellent recommendations for dinner and drinks as well as other restaurants for the rest of our trip. The rest of the wait staff provided excellent service. The food was obviously outrageous, highlights were sweetbreads and blackened redfish, and our favorite of the desserts was the bread pudding à la mode. I'd come back here as often as I could afford. 11/10 experience for us.

Galatoire's was on our list because it shows up in so many "best places in New Orleans" guides, and the atmosphere really is lovely. The dining room feels classic and elegant, and the tuxedoed waiters definitely add to that old-school charm. That said, the food didn't quite live up to the setting. We ordered several of the specials, and none of them stood out. The highlights of the meal were actually the cocktails and the bread pudding. The turtle soup was a miss, unfortunately. It was very bitter, and it gave a bad first impression since it was my friend's first time trying it. I'd honestly skip ordering turtle soup here and save that experience for somewhere like Commander's Palace. The garlic trout was fine but forgettable. The crab maison was a little better, but still nothing memorable. The shrimp remoulade was not good. The horseradish completely overpowered everything else, and it just didn't work. There are plenty of places in New Orleans that do this dish much better. The bread pudding, though, was excellent. Truly the one standout and the only dish I'd go back for. Service was kind, attentive, and efficient, and we never felt rushed. Overall, it's an okay place. It feels like Galatoire's relies a lot on its beautiful ambience, history, and polished service to carry the experience rather than the food itself. Worth a visit for the atmosphere, just don't go in expecting a standout meal.

Told my husband that brunch here wasn't just brunch... its an experience in itself. And it was.... all three hours worth! We arrived early and they were happy to seat us right away. It was like coming home after a long time away. Service was perfect, as was the food. And the champagne. Our server even comped us an extra glass when we told her it was our anniversary. We had three courses, and they were all to die for... Turtle soup was the best I ever had, as were the oysters... cooked of course. I can't eat sea boogers. And the most delightful little Flan with fresh fruit for dessert. Main course was a fish course... very fancy indeed. This is a must visit when in Nola!

The food was absolutely divine. We ordered a the fish special with lump crab on top and the CRABMEAT AU GRATIN. Both were amazing with very good flavor and perfect texture. We also ordered a bottle of wine that went perfectly with our meal. The service was impeccable. We were a very large group but they were so kind and they provided prompt and friendly service. The restaurant is very big; there are multiple rooms that really separate you and kind of create an intimate feeling. The staff really makes you feel at home. There were multiple celebrations in the room (anniversaries and birthdays). They got everyone involved and seemed like they really cared.

This is the place. Second trip to New Orleans in as many months and I found what I was looking for. Centrally located on bourbon, right in the heart of all excitement, Galatoires is a step into a relaxed, upscale setting. Allowing you to forget that just feet away bourbon street is filling up with beer, beads and broken bottles. An upscale classic restaurant that doesn't break the bank? Check! Wonderful service, with servers that actually know the menu and are willing to share with you their thoughts? Check! Wonderful drinks, food, and atmosphere all around! Will be visiting each time I am back in New Orleans!

I was so excited to try this classic Nola place but it didn't hold up to the expectation. Drinks were meh, food was really salty and my duck breast was overcooked and tough. Gents need to wear a jacket but they do have some loaners if you forget to bring one. They also have a drink menu special before 5 pm.

I've always been a fan of Galatoire's. I've visited on every trip to the Quarter over the years. The food is excellent, the service is usually top-notch, and it's one of those places that feels timeless--like nothing has changed since my first visit 15 years ago. This time, however, the experience was deeply disappointing. I made a lunch reservation months in advance for a party of five visiting from out of town. Knowing Galatoire's reputation, I advised the men in our group to pack blazers. The morning of our reservation, we called the restaurant directly to confirm whether turtlenecks or cashmere sweaters were permitted with a blazer in the dining room. We were told no, very clearly, that this would not be allowed. While disappointed, my friends understood and respected that Galatoire's maintains a strict dress code. As a result, our party of five became a party of two. The maître d' understood why our reservation had shrunk and seated us promptly. The dining room was about 50% full throughout our lunch, so it was easy to notice who was coming and going. To my surprise, a man wearing a suit with a beige turtleneck was seated shortly after we arrived. I shrugged it off and continued enjoying lunch. About 45 minutes later, another guest entered the dining room wearing blue jeans, a white long-sleeve T-shirt, and a baseball cap. Three of my friends flew across the country and packed proper suits, only to be turned away for not meeting the dress code. Meanwhile, others were clearly allowed in wearing attire that blatantly contradicted what we were told. This inconsistency genuinely ruined what should have been a special first visit to Galatoire's for my friends. The issue isn't the dress code--it's that the rules are enforced selectively. That's incredibly frustrating when guests are turned away after making every effort to comply. I'm sharing a photo of the guests mentioned so management can understand how upsetting this is for patrons who are denied entry based on standards that are apparently optional. That was one very bitter--and expensive--lunch.

Amazing food, cocktails and service. The ambiance is nice too. The front dining room is a little bit stuffy and you are required to have a jacket if you're a man. This is like old school fine dining. The back dining room is perfect for families or us heathens that didn't bring fancy clothes. All the food is well cooked, presented beautifully and beyond tasty. The drinks are well mixed and balanced. I definitely recommend making a trip here.

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

We waited approximately 30 minutes before our waiter even came to greet our table, which set a disappointing tone for the entire meal. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. It's possible the long wait and lack of attention from the staff affected the overall experience and my enjoyment of the meal. The restaurant has potential given the nice atmosphere, but the service needs significant improvement. Until then, I can't rate it any higher than 2 stars.
