Don't waste your time or your calories. If you're looking for good Cajun or Creole food, this isn't it. We came here for convenience since it's close to the Virgin Hotel and it had nice ambiance. The fried catfish was good (though only one piece), but the mac and cheese was bland even after adding salt and pepper. The appetizer trio was mixed at best -- red beans and rice were fine, the étouffée had some heat, but the gumbo was extremely watery and salty with none of the richness you expect from a Creole gumbo. When we asked to substitute the gumbo for something else, we were told no, even after the waitress (who was very pleasant) called the owner. That lack of flexibility and customer care sealed the experience. Not recommended. read more

I was told to try some catfish while in New Orleans, and I found Baronne Bistro near my hotel after a quick search. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate, but didn't want the side of beans, and it was nice that they substituted it for a side of ceaser salad. The shrimp were nice and juicy, and the batter had a nice level of seasoning. The catfish unfortunately was very bland, and even the tartar sauce and hot sauce could not make it better. The fries were also unseasoned, not the best. Definitely an underwhelming experience. read more

Came in here for a quick solo dinner. Ate at the bar and while it took a second to get served, the bar tender was friendly and kind. This was my favorite meal in New Orleans last week! A coworker and I stopped in after a nearby conference last Tuesday night. The restaurant was way too empty for the quality level - I can only hope it was just an off night. They had a great happy hour, so we each had a glass of wine. We also both ordered the steak po-boy, which was truly delightful, just so flavorful and perfectly prepared. She had a salad and I had fries as my side; we enjoyed both. I went for an early dinner and had a great cup of gumbo and a shrimp po' boy for dinner. Both were great, but the star was the chocolate bread pudding I had for dessert. People were just starting to trickle in as I was leaving so I can't speak much on how lively it gets, but the food was definitely delicious. read more

We found this lovely neighborhood spot while picking up provisions at Rouse Market. On our second night in New Orleans, we came back for dinner. So glad we did. We got there a bit early during Happy Hour. There was a group partaking in the drinks at the bar, but there were plenty of tables in the intimate space for dining. The space was a lovely blend of old, with the brick walls and exposed pipes and a beautiful wooden bar, with modern service and air conditioning and a cool, casual upscale vibe. We were greeted right away by Kelsey, our server and the bartender who is also the owner. Kelsey provided outstanding service throughout our time there. We were offered and brought drinks right away while perusing the menu. My husband ordered the Fried Catfish and I got the Red Beans and Rice with Smoked Pork Sausage. Both dishes were delicious. Paired with a nice Pinot Grigio (for him) and a very tasty blueberry based mocktail (for me) made for a satisfying epicurean delight. We were tempted to make this our every night dinner spot for the rest of our vacation, but so many other places made their siren songs to us. This will be number one for a return visit. read more

Shhhhhhh.......Hello? While I don't want to quite share this hidden gem of a place it's time. I've been here a few times and this place really serves up quite a meal. I stumbled in one time after confusing road repairs. I saddled up to the bar and enjoyed a cold one and their Barbequed Shrimp poboy. On this particular night, the boy enjoyed the dip (we both did) , the burger and the Etouffee. We got bread puddings to go as well. So delicious with a beautiful buttery rum sauce. A few other locals were in and they all shared their favorites. This place has a really nice wine and spirit selection as an added bonus. Wanting an easy dinner, five of us wandered in and ordered. The food was very good, as was the service. It really is a hidden gem. I had the Shrimp Po boy, my son had catfish, another had pasta. We all cleaned our plates. And the wine list was pretty awesome. Prices were reasonable as well...unusual in this city! Location is easily accessable to walk from local hotels. Absolutely not. First off, the vibes were off from the moment we walked in. Our server seemed rushed and short with us, despite there only being two other tables in the restaurant. The Brut champagne came out flat, and my well-done burger was nearly raw--I couldn't take more than a few bites. Everyone else at my table had lukewarm food or dishes that just missed the mark completely. We had a reservation at 8:50 only to find out they close at 9, which felt like a setup for rushed service and subpar food. We were in NOLA for a week, and this was hands-down the worst dining experience of the trip. Skip it. read more

If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. We were visiting NOLA for the first time and wanted to try the local cuisine. The bistro was a short walk from our hotel and had great reviews so we came for dinner. So glad we did! Our server, Ashley, was awesome. Family of 6 had dinner while In town visiting New Orleans. Everything we had was fantastic. The entire family loved every part of the meal from appetizer to desserts. My children loved it so much we ended up getting four gumbo to go after dinner. Service was fantastic with a very pleasant waitress. The very first spot I stopped in after getting settled in the hotel nearby. It was mid afternoon, so it wasn't crowded at all. The door was wide open, and the old school songs, combined with the old school art, really set the mood. It was great to be back in NOLA. My friends occupied the big table, and we were all delighted to see each other. Everyone had already eaten by the time I got there, so I mainly sipped on water and had the tail end of dessert. That apple cobbler was... whoa. Apple desserts are far from my favorite, but this was incredible. It was flavorful, not too sweet, and the spices really amped it up! Service was great. The music was horrid -- way too loud and stuck in the 1970s soft rock (in New Orleans?!). Ordered the crawfish etouffee, which hardly had any crayfish in it and was way too salty. As soon as I finished the rice I couldn't eat anymore due the sodium bomb. Other than eating at the Pelican game (bad food to be expected there). We walked in to this place around 7:30 ish and we were seated right away. However with it being the Taylor Swift Eras Tour weekend they seemed short staffed and short on some food items. The atmosphere was cool like half bar half restaurant vibe. The food did take a bit to get to us and we saw some people seated after us get their food first but that probably was due to the swiftie rush and not typical. Poboy and fries were delicious would eat it again. The boudin balls were a little spicy which I liked a lot but might not be for everyone. And the red beans and rice were pretty tasty too. We (party of 6) walked in on a Wednesday around noon. It is a cute place, very clean, with lots of healthy plants hanging around. There was only one party in the restaurant at the time. We were seated quickly and water arrived. We ordered bbq poboys, a couple of salads with shrimp and a burger. Everything was cooked perfectly and service was good. My only complaint is that the shrimp on the salad was plain - and they would not (I asked) add seasoning. Salt and pepper only. It was good shrimp, but I was surprised they wouldn't season it. Went for lunch today and it was not good at all. Table of 3 and left feeling cheated and insulted after spending $185.00 which included the tip. All 3 of us ordered the shrimp linguine and all agreed it was unseasoned and the sauce was watery. Therefore we had to ask for Tony's and add our shrimp and mirliton appetizer to our dishes to salvage the taste. The nail in the coffin was I presented the server with 2 $100 bills to pay for the crap and she stated she had to take my picture or have ID to pay with $100 bills as its policy. I've been in NOLA for four days as a vendor for the ELCA Youth Gathering and over that stretch have had numerous dining experiences. All good in their own way, but tonight's dish at Bayonne Bistro surpassed them all! Check out the pics. The ambiance is on the elegant side of casual and my waiter very congenial. Wanted to get a bite to eat before the Eras Tour show that wasn't a national brand. We walked around a bit before finding this place. The food was perfect. We got the sampler and the boudin balls, which were phenomenal. The bread pudding was amazing as well. Yeah it's Fat Tuesday and maybe staff's hungover but it was not crowded when we arrived early in the afternoon... the drink order was taken and took 15 minutes after flagging down someone who was not our server who told one of our parry to "calm down." We get being in the weeds but aside from that: -- clean glasses are nice, -- chipped porcelain should not be used Timing of food was way off. We had a caprese, Imperial dip, boudin balls, crab cakes, bbq shrimp po boy (that has bbq sauce on it), grits and beef w/ gravy and 2 wedge salads (one said she disn't even know there was bacon on hers). This place was quiet at first but that was because we came before 7pm. It quickly filled with appreciative customers. The local waitress was nice, and dishes we ordered came in good time. The presentation, taste and temperature (hot) were perfect! Check out the Boudin Balls, Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffee in the photo. We also loved the ambiance, with music at good volume and a classy brick interior. Oh, and the Beeracuda Lager (Abita) was delicious. This place is a must if you visit or live in New Orleans. Walked into an empty place at 11:30 to get a quick lunch before going to the airport. We were actually asked if we had a reservation. Food was mediocre and a margarita flatbread, which looked like it came out of the frozen section of the airport, came out ice cold. Although we immediately sent it back, the others in the party were done their meal and the flatbread still had not resurfaced from the kitchen. Ambiance is okay - music a little loud since the place was empty. Definitely not at the top of our list of meals that we had during our week in New Orleans. read more
