    Cheese Calzone with beef

When we walked in, we were greeted like royalty with all the staff thanking us for choosing them. Definitely made us feel welcome. My pizza craving was definitely satisfied. I wanted slices of pizza with toppings and nice cheese pull. I didn't see it on Mennonite case, they simply asked me what I wanted, I told them, and two perfect slices with my ham and meatballs appeared. I love thin pizza with crispy crust so I was in seventh heaven. My friends had a chicken wrap...lots of meat and a very big portion of which they could only finish half. The salad was fresh and quite large. Empanadas were made with a crunchy yet flaky dough perfectly crimped with a nicely flavored filling with beef, olives, and sauce. Chicken Parmesan was two good size breasts smothered in sauce with a fantastic mozzarella cheese pull. Calzone was not quite what was expected but tasted pretty good. The ice cream was the absolute fantastic best and tasted wine infused like strong rum raisin ice cream without the raisins. The warm cozy atmosphere was definitely small town mom and popish with everyone being greeted like family and literally looked like everyone who came in was known by name. There is a small bar and looks like it has a regular clientele which adds to the ambience and conversation. I've gone there twice now and each time just as good. I will definitely return.

    Big dining area.

Time to freshen up my review.... After being a customer for 25 years there is way to much to write. My wife and I just love this place and I will update a prior review. They have just moved into their new location on Main Street, not 1/2 mile from their prior location. This new restairant is way more than your local pizzeria. The just prepare EVERYTHING so well. They now have plenty of seating in this comfortable new spot and are working on obtaining their liquor license since they have a really nice bar. There are also plenty of TVs which will make it great for NFL game night. The owner, Omar is one of the most personable people I have ever met and he is extremely proud of his great tasting [and always fresh] food. The whole family is just the epitome of nice people. When you walk in you will see the various pizza's and rolls behind the glass on the counter and everything always looks terrific. (see the posted pictures.) They make a fabulous thin crispy crust Neapolitan pizza plain (or with any topping / or toppings you can think of. I also recommend the Grandma and Sicilian pizza . The "everything pie" is just that... all the various toppings on whole pie. It's a meal on a slice. You can get the veggie or a salad pie if you're not a meat eater. They now have a huge kitchen that is always preparing exceptional food. Chicken and veal dishes (prepared any way you would like them,) as well has the traditional ways and of course, a complete line of pasta. I highly recommend the home made lasagna and the chicken or veal parmigiana. Nicely breaded, with plenty of sauce and cheese. You can never wrong with the ziti and meatballs. The Garlic knots are the best (always fresh) since they sell so many and are always making new ones. Make sure you say hello to Omar when you walk in... It's a local place and after you've been there a few times you will be greeted by name. KUDOs to the team at Mamma Ginas

Ordered one Sicilian pie and one regular cheese pie and was underwhelmed. The regular pie was very average - not exceptional and not awful. If you're looking for a quick bite, a slice of cheese pizza would suffice. The Sicilian tasted a bit more artificial and not as authentic as some as the other pizzerias in the area. The sauce (in my opinion), was too sweet, The garlic knots we ordered were pretty sizable, but did lack garlic, cheese and parsley, so essentially, we got over cooked rolls. They didn't taste like anything. The staff was friendly and the food was out pretty quickly. When placing the order via-phone they let us negotiate the price of the meal which to me was a bit odd, but hey, we saved $10! The place itself is a hole-in-the-wall place with a decent selection of pies and entrees. It's also quite clean.

Mamma Gina is a quiet, small, unassuming pizzeria/restaurant, located in a parking lot, next door to Western Beef Supermarket. I don't think I would have ever noticed it if I weren't shopping at Western Beef. I started going to Mamma Gina whenever I needed a quick bite while doing groceries. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with their pizza. It was just a convenient, quick-bite sorta place for me. I would usually just get a regular cheese slice to go. Then one day, I saw this square white slice...no, not a white slice with ricotta, but with loads of onions! I gave it a try, and this is how my love (aka obsession) for Mamma Gina started! Haha What that slice was, was a Fugazzetta Pizza...aka Onion Pizza (not to be confused with "pizza with onion topping"). It's their version of an Argentinian sweet onion, olive oil, oregano, parmesan & mozzarella cheese topped pizza on Italian-style focaccia/pizza crust. And now, it's usually my go to whenever I go to Mamma Gina. I walk in, and they ask me Onion Pizza? Haha I'm so predictable. I started out just getting a slice...now I get the whole pie! (See my photo and try not to drool. lol) Apparently, you can get this in a round pie or square pie. I always get the square version since I love the crust. A square Fugazzetta pie is $25; a square slice (which is the size of two slices) is $5.50. Give it a try and join in my obsession...Tell them the Onion Pizza lady sent ya! Haha Yummmm...

It looks like a little hole in the wall but the pizza and meals are always delicious (isn't that usually the case). I've never been disappointed.

Best pizza joint in LI.. if not NYC. The sauce is delicious . The pizza is not the only reason I'm a r regular patron. This husband and wife and their staff are so welcoming . Highly recommended!

Also, they need to make some of the items on the catering menu available on the regular dinner menu. I was driving so I passed on the alcohol. Then we got our individual pizza set ups and a lesson. It was fun! They gave us some toppings, pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers. We made our pizzas and they took them away to be cooked. We then had a choice of salad, Caesar or house. Everyone liked the salad and the dressings. We got our pizzas back in pizza boxes so we could eat some and take some home. Then they came around with a plate of cookies! The owner came over to talk to us, she said that they were planning to have pasta and mozzarella making in the future and told us about the other events that they have. Live music, bingo etc. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Sweet and genuine. She also showed concern about the parking situation and offered a reimbursement for the parking garage. We declined that offer, it was only a couple of dollars for the time that we spent there. If I had to be very picky the only one suggestion that I have would be that they add some basil/ oregano/garlic/pepper to the sauce or on the table, the sauce was very plain. Other than that, everything was amazing and so much fun, well worth the price that we paid ($40 pp including gratuities) for everything that we got!

This review is based off the most recent taste of their food that my friends catered. They moved into the neighborhood and hosted a meal from Spaghettini. We tried a bunch of their food, and it did not get a better rating. The best thing I had was definitely the Italian Meatballs, which were tender and quite good. However, the sauce was a bit thin. The Chicken Francaise was pretty decent too, but nothing special. Pizzas were fine, but I did not enjoy the crust on either. Rigatoni w/ Vodka Sauce and Steamed Vegetables were average. The worst was probably the Buffalo Wings. Can't imagine the rest of their menu gets much better, so I'll stick with Taglio nearby.

The strategy here is simple. You order a pie--half pepperoni, half prosciutto. The prosciutto does exactly what it needs to do, but the pepperoni is the real headline act. Also, definitely add the garlic, chili flakes, and extra parm from the shakers on each table to your slice. You don't NEED it per se, but it certainly does take things to the next level.
