My husband called to ask about their pie sizes and whether they offered Hawaiian pizza. They said they only make one size (large), which is fine, but when he asked about the Hawaiian, the response was, "We don't make Hawaiian pies," followed by, "Pineapple doesn't go on pizza, buddy." First of all, my husband is not your "buddy," and no one called to get your personal opinion on pizza toppings. It was a simple question about menu options, not an invitation for sarcasm. What can I say... I am a stickler for a proper greeting when I walk into any establishment. This was the first time I purchased at Gino's Pizza and will certainly not be the last. It was also easy to park here... While street parking was full, the side streets are close and had plenty of available spaces. I walked in to the "Pizzeria Side" of the business and there were at least five guys behind the counter, and I got five hellos when I came in. All friendly and outwardly happy to see me. When I told them I was a first timer and lived locally that all smiled and asked "why?" This side of the location is the classic Pizzeria, booths and a counter loaded with every pizza you can imagine. I pretty sure that if you can think of it, they have it or will definitely make it for you. everyone behind the counter was extremely friendly and enjoyed speaking with the crowd waiting for their take out order. They were busy, I mean, really busy. Lots and lots of people picking up and now I know why. There food is really good. Did I mentioned that Jerry gave me a slice of pizza to show me how good their food is. It was good... thin crispy crust with plenty of flavor from their delicious sauce. It is definitely a place for the locals, everyone seems to know everyone here, both guests and staff/ I brought home a Chicken Parm and Francaise. Both of these dishes were excellent. The part were delicious strips of breast meet and the Francaise were larger cutlets. They also give you a large portion that I finished the next day. I am really looking forward to a return trip(s). Decided to finally order Gino's family take out meal ... glad I did. The whole meal was yum!!! I added an order of garlic knots to my order cuz I can't order anything from Gino's and NOT order their garlic knots. My favorite thing to eat in Williston Park is Gino's garlic knots. See ... love love LOVE the garlic knots. Ok, let me get back to Gino's family meal. It easily feeds a family of 4. The trays weren't deep but there was still enough food. Decided on the tossed salad, which we really enjoyed. The salad dressing .. delish!! I do wish there was more rigatoni alla vodka cuz that was the family fave. Took my family here decided to try a local pizza around my house. My neighbors mentioned this place and we said why not? Ordered margarita pizza for myself and regular pizza for my kids. One look at the pizza and it looked nothing like a margarita. Tried it anyways and I probably had 2-3 bites until I literally couldn't eat anymore. Tasted horrible. Super thick cheese ruined it. My kids Were eating it until my wife noticed liquid on their shirt, we took a closer look and noticed that it was from the oil of the pizza. It dripped all over their clothes! 4 slices, and we probably ate 1 all together. We all took 3-4 bites each and threw the rest out. However, the staff was very friendly and showed lots of respect. I was heading home in terrible traffic, eventually needing to find a stopping point with a craving for Italian food. When I can across Gino's I knew they usually have good cooking. I opted for an old fave from Vincent's Clam bar, the calamari and pasta entree. This wasn't nearly the best I've had. The squid was tender enough but ringlets are extra large cone shaped, lots of tentacles (which is okay because I enjoy them) that were very large as well; and the sauce was tangy and tasty, but kind of watery. This was your typical neighborhood pizza store opened by a real old school Italian owner. We were the only customers eating in so there was no need to fight for a table or wait to be seated. One negative part was that they did not have a full selection of pizza since it was late Sunday night so our choices were limited. I got a traditional chicken cutlet parmigiana hero while my husband got 1 regular pizza slice, 1 Sicilian slice and an order of garlic knots. The restaurant is divided into 2 dining areas, typical pizza parlor ambiance, or nice sit down dinner affair. I have never been here for dinner, but my friends swear by the quality and taste of the main entrees like chicken cutlet parmigiana and Scungilli Marinara. So this is my go to pizza spot on Long Island. The place is divided into two sections, a fancier dining room option or a very quintessential pizzeria. I don't understand why Gino's doesn't have garlic knots, been going to them for years and 80% of the time they don't have garlic knots and won't make them. Overpriced. They don't inform you when they add on charges. Honestly charging money for an extra cup of marinara sauce is ridiculous when it's sitting in a giant vat that gets tossed at the end of the night/week. I've had their food other locations and by comparison is better. Also the staff at this location has a crappy attitude. I've encountered this crappy attitude for the last time, as I've also had issues with delivery from this location. I'm not bashing it but I've had better pizza. We got a Sicilian pie, everyone seems to rave about it. It was nothing special, pretty average Sicilian. I did however like the pepperoni cups...that's different and I liked it. I see people say the regular pie is good. I'd like to see barstool go before I go back and try the regular. Mixed bag. I don't know, I think you have to have grown up in WP to love this place. The pizza is okay when it's not burnt on the bottom, but it usually is. Their Sicilian is different but very good. If you're looking for a traditional Sicilian slice this might not do it for you though. I stay away from their meat dishes because I've gotten very chewy chicken more than once. We love their garlic bread and their rigatoni vodka. My hubs is a WP native and this is his go-to pizza place. I pretty much prefer any of the other local spots to this one. read more
