The chicken cacciatore is a favorite. Full of chicken onions peppers and mushrooms so delicious. The chicken parm is a huge portion of chicken over your choice of pasta that's a go to for sure for my family. The steak tips with roasted potatoes is another favorite. The food was meh. I had shrimp, scallops, haddock and too much cheese. It was so-so. My sides were mixed and broccoli. The mixed veggies were undercooked. The service was okay and the ambience was pleasant. My boyfriend had spaghetti and meatballs, which he said were tasty. We were in here with a group of six on Friday evening 5/9/25. We had 7:00 reservations and the table was ready when we arrived. Waitress and other staff were very nice. Myself and one other person ordered the seafood florentine, which is suppose to have a piece of fish, shrimp and scallops. Meal came out, and it was very tasty, but then we realized there were no scallops. When we asked our waitress she told us the meals are all pre portioned out, and the scallops were chopped up very small. I disagreed with her and she ended up taking $5 off each of the two plates. Never did a manager/supervisor come to our table. Also another person at our table ordered pasta and meatballs, the meatballs were more bready than meaty. (I wish I could remember her name.) I know she had children since she knew exactly what the girls would like. She brought warm rolls immediately, mmm. The ranch chicken salad had crisp lettuce and vegetables, topped with thin pieces of chicken, bacon, and Jack cheese. The pasta in the huge portion of Ferruccini Alfredo tasted homemade. Eggplant manicotti are similar to the eggplant rollatini in the North End, the eggplant rather than pasta, is rolled around the cheese. My sister recently moved to the Hanson area so anytime we travel between Plymouth and Hanson, we always pass by Mamma Mia's in Carver. While I was home visiting this past time, I both dined with my family at the restaurant, and ordered takeout one evening. While there dining on a Friday evening around 5:30 PM, we were able to call ahead about an hour earlier to make our reservation. I was surprised that it was that easy for a Friday night. It was mild when we first got there and got pretty busy by the time we left. The bar was definitely packed, the restaurant packed in within the hour. I guess we got there right in time. Our hostess and server were both incredibly kind. We were lucky to have such great service. The menu had a lot of great options as well as a separate, specials menu. They also had a kids menu and a placemat for my son to color on with crayons. We ordered the special salad that was arugula, shaved Parmesan, and pine nuts with a lemon dressing. My father ordered the salmon, I had shrimp scampi, and my sis had the scallops special with pasta. My son had a chicken and pasta dish. I asked if we could have the light fare for him to have a smaller portion. Our server double checked for us and they said they only offer lighter fare for lunch. I still ordered it for him and took home the leftovers. We ordered martinis and wine. My martini didn't taste good so I moved on quickly, to wine. Overall, an alright dining experience. Prices average to high. Parking available in their lot. I was underwhelmed by our takeout experience. I ordered and paid for salmon on my salad and they just gave me bunch of unhealthy, romaine lettuce with some cheese shavings. Yuck, I didn't even eat it. Ok. Tried Mama Mia's again. This time I ordered a scotch on the rocks. There was an up charge of $1.50 because it was served "on the rocks". Come on, really? When we walked in the place for lunch it was practically empty, but the hostess sat the 3 of us in a dark corner. We got up and noticed there were at least 5-7 tables empty near the front near the windows. We moved ourselves to that area where there was only ONE couple. We stopped here on our way back from Edaville and were so lucky to get a table even though it was a Friday night! We only waited about five minutes to be seated and it was worth the wait. We were lucky enough to sit near the Christmas tree, which I loved. A friend got me back into Mamma Mia's for a small birthday get together after I told him we found a Bone in the Lasagna.... He said it was most likely an accident... Based on the cozy restaurant and fresh baked bread I was expecting this place to be a great Italian spot. Boy, was I wrong! We came in a party of 5; 3 adults and 2 children. My children, especially my son, will eat just about anything. That is, except for their bland spaghetti and meatballs. My poor daughter couldn't even take 2 bites without feeling sick. Then came the adult entrees; Chicken marsala, Ziti Bolognese and a sausage pizza. Each having their own disgusting issue. I literally ate 5 bites and gave up. My mother ate as much as she could before feeling sick. My husband only ate one slice of his pizza. How can you mess up pizza??? It cost us $80 to leave without eating. Very, very impressed! Came to Carver to visit a cranberry bog, Yelped for nearby food, and ended up at Mama Mia's! Attractive, both inside and out, very clean, great service, and outstanding food. Best quahog I've had so far (we don't get those in Nebraska...), and the halibut was fresh and flavorful. We headed down to Plymouth later in the evening, and stopped at the Mamma Mia's by the harbor for some dessert. It was much more crowded than the one in Carver (we'll blame it on the parade and festival going on that day) and I was not terribly impressed with the chocolate cake, but still a very pleasant visit. read more
