Me and my family have been coming to Mamma Roma for several years now. We get pizza very often and Mamma Roma is by far our favorite and go-to pizza place in Odenton. Their food is CONSISTENTLY high quality and delicious which is what makes this place amazing. Today, I realized I hadn't reviewed them even though Mamma Roma has to be my most visited and favorite restaurant in Odenton. I went to Mamma Roma for lunch today and ordered the Chicken Alfredo with garlic knots. The phone at Mamma Roma was definitely having some problems but we got our order across. My order was done on time and was clearly warm and fresh. The Chicken Alfredo was creamy, warm, and tasted great. The garlic knots were nice and warm, perfect snack for me and my family. This is by far the best place to get real, authentic NY-style pizza in the DMV area. We've been going to this place for years and the quality stays consistent. During covid, we ordered two pizzas and bruschetta, and everything came out perfectly. We live in northern VA and once a month, take the 50-minute drive up to Mamma Roma's to get great pizza. They have drive-up pick up during covid-times and the staff is so friendly. The best Italian food we've had! My husband and I decided to come here last night after driving in from out of town. We both love small businesses and locally owned restaurants and were blown away with the speedy service and hospitality - almost felt like we were part of the family with how welcoming the staff was. We also came in right around a rush hour as there were a few large parties reserved - we didn't have to worry though as the staff made sure not to forget about us. It was seat yourself and pay at the register - our favorite type of service as we don't like hanging out to wait for the check. I especially enjoyed their lasagna and steamed broccoli and my husband had the mussels and piccata. What made both - the sauces on both plates were to die for! Incredible taste and plating overall. They also have a great selection of wine and desserts (we ordered our favorite - tiramisu) which did not disappoint. There was also a tasty espresso bar (and bar in general) - great for on-the-go and stop in travelers. I also noticed their lengthy wall of plaques above the register for best food and dining - I didn't catch how far it dated back but I noticed they received best dining almost consecutively since at least 2011 from what I saw. Go here now. Seriously just do it. This is the best Italian I've had in the Maryland suburbs, with the food being consistenly good, plentiful and authentic. On a cold, rainy Sunday, we decided to forgo cooking dinner and order out from Mamma Roma's instead. I like how you can easily order online and modify each item to your choosing, with the price on the bottom jumping to reflect those prices. I ordered my absolute favorite - the seafood extravaganza - and added the mediterranean fetuccine and clam linguine. Now, if you read my previous review, you'll see how much I adore the seafood extravaganza, but boy did that fetuccine (topped with scallops, shrimp and crab meat in a creamy pink sauce) wow me. COVID 19 Review We first found this gem on accident when we went to a local corn maze. A few weeks later, we came back for a dinner! This is now our go-to Italian restaurant. Most entrees come with a delicious garlic bread, but I still recommend you start with an order of the garlic bread. The order has more pieces and cheese. You order at the counter and pick a seat, but wait staff still check on you and deliver your food/drinks. I ordered the seafood extravaganza and my partner ordered the Stromboli. Both of them were absolutely delicious! The seafood extravaganza also has fresh crab sprinkled on top. What a gem of a pleasant surprise. I was looking for places to eat before attending an event nearby and this place came up. It's now become our go-to every time we are in the area! TIP: 8743 Piney Orchard Pkwy is a long building of stores. Mamma Roma is the unit almost on the left end of the building. Loved the food and the prices. I had the eggplant parmigiana, lunch size. A big piece of eggplant parmigiana served over spaghetti. I took half of it home -- and I hardly ever do that -- that's how much there was to eat. I also ordered a side garden salad with blue cheese dressing. I liked the salad too. And most important to me, they had unsweetened iced tea with slices of lemon available. Yeah!! Food for Saturday lunch was ordered at the cash register, and then delivered to your table by waitstaff who were friendly and did a great job. I usually comment on accessibility issues. Although I didn't notice any handicap spots near the restaurant, there were lots of open spots for Saturday lunch. One could probably get a space at the end of a row suitably close to the restaurant. So it is not bad, not great. I got the penne al vodka. The side salad is iceburg lettuce, with diced tomatoes, cucumber, thick sliced carrots, olives amd raw red onions. It is served with a house vinagrette that is served from a bottle that definitely sits unrefridgerated and is used from table to table. It is not bad, just a weird brown color and not fresh. The garlic bread is not great. It needs to be toasted longer and not served with the salad because it is very cold by the time your entree arrives. Even fresh, the garlic bread is hard around the edges and too soft in the middle, like it wasn't toasted. The pasta was great, except for the proscuitto which is not proscuitto but thin sliced deli ham. The sauce was delicious and the pasta cooked perfectly. I heard about this place and I've been wanting to try it out for a while. I was working on a Sunday, the same day the Chiefs and Ravens were playing so I decided to pick up some food from Mamma Roma's for the game. I asked my coworkers if they wanted something as well so I ended up getting multiple items. I ended up getting the chicken alfredo and the almond Nutella cheesecake for myself. My boyfriend and I were around town and Momma Roma has been on my Yelp list for some time. We came here on a lovely late evening and we initially planned to dine in. However, due to the Anne Arundel Country restrictions for dine-in hours with covid 19 the one of the Owners, Bruno offered to seat us outside. He was very accommodating to our needs along with the servers. I had the Seafood Extravaganza, which was the dish that everyone raved about on Yelp. I would recommend this to someone who loves seafood. Every bite had a descent amount of seafood. They don't skimp! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and garlicky sauce, which has a bit of a kick to it. My boyfriend had the Fettuccine Alfredo added chicken and spinach which was great combination. The pasta texture and sauce not being too heavy; perfect balance. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with customer service and the food. Even during our dinner, Bruno kindly checked up on us to see how things went on and chatted with us, which added a great touch to our evening. I would definitely try this place out and it deserves to be recognized. I'll be giving this place my business again. Rah rah ah-ah-ah! Ro mah ro-mah-mah Mamma oh-la-la! It's no wonder locals go "ga-ga" over this family style Italian restaurant that makes Olive Garden look like its bastard step brother. After getting off a plane from BWI, I usually try to refuel from somewhere within 10 miles before heading back towards the DC metro area, and this is definitely a worthy spot to add to my rotation. I was immediately greeted by one of the owners with an Italian accent (as opposed to an Eye-talian accent) so I had a good vibe prior to even placing my order. Not being overly famished and wishing to go with something familiar, I opted for the chicken parm with a pasta fagioli soup. For the pasta fagioli (translated simply as "pasta and beans"), I often see this dish at other places bastardized as a vegetarian minestrone with a heavy tomato base, whereas here the beans are the star with an abundance of beans, pureed beans to thicken the stock, and bits of roughly chopped garlic cloves and fresh basil so that it eats like a rustic Italian white chili. Rather than the traditional dilatini or macaroni for pasta, they choose to intersperse the bean soup with scattered threads of pristinely al dente cooked thin spaghetti. How they manage to time the pasta to be cooked to toothsome perfection is likely an Italian grandma trade secret unless they mix the pasta in at the very last moment of simmering. The toasted garlic bread croutons as a finishing garnish added a pleasing textural contrast. A bean lover's delight while those favoring more pasta may be disappointed. As for the chicken parm, the thinly pounded cutlet was expertly fried draped with a bubbly melted sheet of fresh mozzarella and the accompanying spaghetti was finished in the sauce (perhaps my only critique would be a little less sauce although one could argue the excess sauce is necessary to be mopped up with their freshly toasted bread) rather than the American faux pas of mound of naked pasta ladled with a glop of sauce. The servers were great and I can't wait to try some of their other offerings including their monstrous calzones, homemade pizza, and other pasta specials. Nothing earth shattering in terms of flavor combinations, but they get it right with the little touches of care and finesse for a home cooked meal that hits all the right notes of Italian comfort food where familiarity equals family. I have a feeling Mamma Roma and I will have a "bad romance" with many more indulgent meals after future flights touching down from BWI. read more
