If you enjoy having political propaganda spewed at you while you try to drink a WARM bloody mary on your day off... this is your joint! For me however, it was annoying to say the least. Goldfleild Ghost Town, the theme town where this saloon is located, is great. What a shame they don't have a decent place to eat. The bar looked fun but once we sat down, the bartender "Cowboy Dan" wouldn't stop talking about politics, HIS politics. From dirty, offensive jokes about Muslims and teachers (yes, school teachers) to the part where he straight up asked me who I was going to vote for, this guy wouldn't stop. I was ready to leave about 3 minutes after being served the worst bloody mary I have ever had. I tried to smile and laugh it off but in the end I asked for the bill, paid and walked out without finishing. The guy seems to be a little whacked out. It's supposed to be a family place, there were children all over! This guy needs to find a dive bar to work at, where this kind of behavior might be more appropriate. read more

This past weekend our Land Rover club held it's annual rally at the goldfield ghost town facility. Cowboy Dan and his crew fed hungry trail riders on both Friday and Saturday nights, with juicy burgers and steaks. 160 people went through his chow line, and his staff were as attentive and detail oriented as we've ever seen. Not a single complaint was spoken, and everyone was happy as could be.. Great Job Dan and Mammoth Steakhouse! read more

Do not eat here if you like decent food or a/c or a clean bathroom. I was stunned at how awful everything was. The quality was like store bought frozen food heated in the microwave. Yet the high prices reflected a quality the food does not match. Rustic western atmosphere was ok but overall I'd call this a mammoth mistake. You've been warned. read more

One of the worst experiences ever! They charged me my husband and two small kids $10 for water!!!!! The worst thing about this place was the prices! Their cheapest steak is $20 and I can tell you it was not at all worth it. The better steakhouses in Tucson charge less and do better. My steak was ordered med rare an came out extremely rare, the server was not concerned. My daughters $9 quesadilla had hardly any cheese and bordered burnt. That's just to start, the whole meal and service was subpar. To finish it off we got an $85 bill, are you serious?! I would never go back and realize now why we were the only people there. After abfun day on the Dolly Steamboat I was excited to eat at this fun old mining period steakhouse. The atmosphere was great. Their cooling system was not sufficient and thus hot and muggy. The food was AWFUL. I ordered a fresh salad with chicken. I got a bag salad with 1/2 a boiled egg slice and a few slices of tomato. The chicken on top was a processed precooked rubber grilled looking stuff they sell at big chain stores. Totally disgusting and it was $12.95. My husband ordered a Mammoth Burger w/ fries for $11.95. All again was processed supposed meat. It had more of a soy meat taste. It did have a nice Hawaiian bun and it came with grilled onions and mushrooms. The mushrooms were canned, and bland. The fries were the generic potato paste formed kind, but they did have a good seasoning on them and were crisp. Overall, it was disappointing. When will people realize canned and frozen processed food/meat do not belong in a steakhouse. It's a shame because the building itself was great. read more

I gave three stars because my BBQ sandwich with fries was not a good sandwich. It was dripping water and was served warm, not hot like it should be. Even the ice tea was initially warm until the ice had time to cool it. The atmosphere was great with the bartender cracking jokes and making funny comments to customers as they came in. The decorations also added to the atmosphere making the overall visit a lot of fun without good food. read more

We recently went to this restaurant for my birthday. We ordered the t bone and rib steaks which were cooked to perfection; flavorful and delicious. Our waitress, Christy was friendly and attentive. The old west atmosphere was cool. During our meal a large group of people came in, proceeded to inhabit the majority of tables in the restaurant and conduct a meeting. We learned that these folks were known as the Ghost riders and that they conducted these meetings on Mondays while this restaurant was open. Not only did these folks block a lot of the light, making it hard to see, they were noisy and disruptive, quite oblivious to the fact that there were other paying customers who were trying to enjoy their meal. I would recommend calling ahead to inquire before spending $$ here on your meal if you prefer the atmosphere of just an old west restaurant read more

It took over 30 minutes to get burger and fries, which seemed excessive. The service was lacking. The waitress was so busy she didn't have time to check on us once. The food was just okay and seemed overpriced for what you get. The whole experience was disappointing. read more

There is so many positive things I can say about this place! I have been several times & have never been disappointed. It really takes your more than one time to experience the whole atmosphere. Going on a weekend the whole ghost town & restaurant was packed so we expected that we may have to wait but that wasn't the case, the owner is the best- Cowboy Dan came right out & sat our large group right away, the service was great & the food was amazing. If your going in the daytime definitely sit on the patio- its huge, has a beautiful view of the Superstition mountains, they have live musicians who are very entertaining, & just the history of the town there is so much to look at you can't possibly experience it all in one visit. The atmosphere of the restaurant & the people who work there are always so interesting we learn something new every time we go. I've also been there during weddings and reception & to my surprise they transform the whole entire place to suit the requests, I was so impressed that they still served us during special events but the restaurant is so huge & two stories that they always accommodate regular business. I was so impressed with that! At night it's beautiful lighting & sitting at the bar listening to Cowboy Dan & his life story & how smart & kind he is- is always our favorite part about it! I always tell people about Mammoth Steakhouse & Saloon and Goldfield Ghost Town- its my top 3 favorite places to go & take family & friends from out of town. I would not go here again. The food was pretty terrible. Burgers looked like they had fake grill marks on them, and as if they may have come to the restaurant pre-cooked, and reheated. They tasted like it too. I think I would have been better off going to a fast food restaurant for a good burger. The steak was ok, but the seasoning tasted old and had quite a strange aftertaste. The roll that it came with was hard and cold, and so was the butter. The corn that came with the steak tasted as if it had been reheated multiple times before it was served to us. Our beer was expensive and served in plastic cups. We also received plastic cultlery for our meal. The prices were expensive for the quality of the food we received. Had friends come in from out of state so we took them there because the Mining Camp is closed for the season. BIG MISTAKE!! Below average to average food, at best. Lousy service. Very disappointed in this establishment today. My husband went in for lunch and was told to leave and "never come back" when he told them his burger was cooked incorrectly. He was very nice about it, as we live right down the road and have been there many times. All he wanted was a plain burger. The waitress brought a burger with everything on it, set it down, and disappeared, Didn't come back to check on anything and finally had to be flagged down 20 minutes later. My husband asked her to take the burger off the bill because it was incorrectly made and he did not have time to wait for a new burger. No one approached the table, or tried to ask if there was a problem. The bartender literally screamed across the restaurant "never come back". First of all, since when it is okay for you to employ people that provide such poor service in a restaurant? And second of all, what gives you the right to yell at a customer that made a simple and reasonable request. It's a shame a place that we could take our kids to turned out to be such a shameful establishment. read more

Ok, this was a complete bummer. This was our 3rd time to the Mammoth Saloon for one of their delicious burgers. It's a 50 mile round trip drive for us. This time, there were more people than we have ever seen. Very surprising for a Wednesday afternoon. We found a place and ordered our burger. Just like before. We even suggested to two people from California, that the burgers were the best around, so they also ordered burgers. From the moment the burger arrived, it was a disappointment. The bun was dry and would not keep together. The burger was cold and dry. The previous two times, the burger was hot and juicy with a smoky flavor. This thing we got today was right down there with the worst burgers we've ever had. I felt bad that we had recommended this to the visitors from California. We suspect what happened was because of the crowd, they cooked a bunch of burgers, then just had them laying around getting cold and stale. I have no idea what happened to the smoky flavoring. We won't consider going back. They cost too much to have something that tastes TERRIBLE. I can't believe they had the ways and means of turning an absolute terrific burger into this dry, stale thing they served us today. I guess it's more important to rip people off on terrible food than it is to satisfy established customers. read more
