I don't get what the hype is all about. Small portions, flavorless food and the service was OK. The husband and I had hash browns and they were cold and flavorless. The French toast was OK. The kid had the waffle with eggs and she liked it but again, we were all hungry an hour later because the portions were small. read more

On my most recent visit to Myrtle Beach, we went back... Again, nothing over the top about Mammy's Kitchen, but it seems to be fairly consistent in my experiences of being average or slightly above average for a breakfast buffet. I'm being nice and giving 4 stars instead of 3, although I think 4-5 stars would typically be given to the type of place where you can get your food on the buffet made to order--like omelettes, crepes, or waffles to your liking, but the staff has always been so friendly and seem happy. This buffet is gross. The hostesses were rude and the seating system sucked. Our waitress was very nice. Pretty much everything was cold. The eggs and sausage was ok but that's it. The hash tasted like dog food but I wouldn't even feed that to my dog. Were not from down south and this gave southern food a bad name read more

Inspite of the name, I went here. It started in the 1950's so I figured it was an old institution of the beach, but I really don't think it is what it used to be and probably has changed hands at some point. They have a breakfast bar, which is better than Shoney's breakfast bar. Good/fair price. I only saw one type of pancake and syrup on the bar, which was good. The eggs etc. were delicious. Price was $6-ish and worth it. I could almost give this place FIVE STARS because the people were so nice!!!!!! I can't say that enough. The waitresses, host, and the owner were the nicest. An unemployed person came in and asked if there was any work and the owner let her pick up trash around the place for her breakfast. Visited this morning with the family for breakfast... typical county breakfast buffet food without the country ham, but you could order of the menu as well(which is a plus). The place was busy.. but the wait staff was on point and the busyness didn't seem to phase them (another plus).Great customer service...I really enjoyed the sausage gray the most and theft had a great fresh fruit selection. First off decor needs to be updated. Old booths and carpet on a restaurant floor?? Ewww!! Tacky little restaurant with poor quality food. My son and I ordered the buffet. Both egg selections (scrambled and scrambled with ham peppers and onions) on buffet were basically undercooked. Biscuits and cinnamon rolls were crap and cold. I just ate hash browns and some bacon, the only things edible on my plate. If you like stuffing your face for $9.99 and don't care what it tastes like then this is the place for you. Sixty years of tradition where you can eat in 30 minutes or less. Looks like a throw back to the year it was built. Food was good and fresh, even the buffet, but the decor a little stale. No complaints though, you already know what it is...1953 frozen on time. My kids love sit, so I'd always go back. read more

Unpleasant Experience: Waitress brought the check one minute after we started eating, they had a sign in the parking lot that said you had to move your car as soon as you're finished eating, charged extra for TOAST even though we had the breakfast buffet. Mammy's Kitchen is certainly not the most "costumer oriented" restaurant. Would NOT go back. read more

I've been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for years and the staff at my favorite hotel directed me to Mammy's Kitchen for a good breakfast at a good price a few years back. They were absolutely right. Everything on the buffet is good... fresh fruit, eggs, western style eggs, bacon, patty & link sausage, biscuits & gravy, french toast, hashbrowns, cornbeef hash, and other breakfast fare. It is delicious and consistantly good year after year, Mammy's Kitchen has been in business for decades. My trip this year my family ate here all seven mornings. The staff at Mammy's are friendly and enjoyed chatting. The location is also a great one for people watching while you eat if you get one of the many boothes at the large wrap around windows. It's just about a block from the strand's stores and the beach. read more

Hands Down the best breakfast place in Myrtle Beach! We went in around 8 am, and while there were several other customers as well as a baseball team we were still seated right away. The place was clean, and the buffet was kept tidy which is a huge plus in my book. The buffet was awesome! Bacon, sausage, grits, hashbrowns, gravy, eggs, pancakes, french toast, fresh fruit...if you wanted it, most likely it was on the buffet. Great selection, and great tasting food!
