Mammy's was fine. The food was probably a 3, but given the price, I'm giving them a 2. It just seemed a little pricey to me. Of course, I did not have the buffet (hubby did). If you are going for a huge breakfast so you can hang out at the beach and skip lunch, you would get your money's worth here. Buffet food seemed fine- the three F's for sure - fried, fattening, filling! No culinary standouts there. Kids and I ordered pancakes off the menu. They were fine, but I could have been just as happy with McDonalds hotcakes. The food was fast though and the waitress was not exactly nice, but not rude either. I would not go out of my way or wait in line to go to Mammy''s, but if you are close and need a meal, it will fill you up. read more

Went here a few mornings while I was on my vacation at myrtle beach. Good variety in the buffet but the only downside is that the waitresses barely come to your table to ask if you need anything. One of the best stops on my myrtle beach vacation! Everything from the wonderful staff to the excellent food made my visit extra special. The waitress and host were so welcoming and friendly. We were seated promptly and got to eat right away. The buffet was amazing. It was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious! My ice cold pink lemonade was always full. This had to be the worst breakfast Ive ever had. Note everyone doesn't like there eggs cooked in bacon grease!!!!!! Nasty you could taste the grease in all the food disappointing. My wife and I went to Mammy's based on the reviews regarding their dinner buffet. We now know not to believe everything we read!! Let me 'splain: $15.99 for frozen fried seafood and vegetables out of cans (take a look into the kitchen at the rack of canned foods while you're at the buffet), and desserts that appeared to be of the same quality is ridiculous. The crab legs the reviewers RAVE about - aren't included on the buffet, but "can be purchased at local market value" (RIP OFF) ... Our server wasn't "horrible", but more non-existant. The entire place is filthy and needs to be bulldozed (my wife added that). If the three of us ( my wife is 8 months pregnant ) weren't so hungry and exhausted from a long drive, we would have left without eating - in hindsight, we should have. We went, we ate, we won't be back. P.S. My wife and I joked the entire meal that the waitstaff and owners HAVE to be the ones writing the raving reviews - no one else can possibly eat this food at this price and have anything good to say about it!! read more

First time eating there. Good reviews and all the advertising brought us to mammys. Good food and good selection for Southern breakfast spot. Plenty of fruit to equal out the unhealthy good stuff. Place was understaffed and staffed with the usual under qualified staff. Bathrooms men and women's were horrible (probably had to do with the understaffed part). Super crowded (good for them) but they need to put a sign where the buffet starts. You gotta try to be nice and figure it out on your own cause most people just bust in where they want. There was large selection of choices, the sausage was good, and the watermelon was fantastic. But my praise stops there. After reading other yelp reviews of Mammy's kitchen, I assumed this place would be a great place for breakfast. But I was mistaken, the potatoes were horrendous, bacon was just ok (you can't really mess up bacon), most of the food had no flavor. Based on previous reviews, my family and I decided to eat at this restaurant on 8/15/2011. We had 4 children with us, two of them small children. Before our food even came to the table the hostess or manager (not sure what her title was) came over to the table and very rudely told me to "pick up all the jellies and sugars", which the children had spread out all over the table (none on the floor). Let me add to this by saying...the children were not misbehaving (being loud, obnoxious, throwing things, etc. in any way). They were simply counting the jelly packets and naming the different flavors. After being told to put them away, which we couldn't even believe they had the nerve to do, the cook/owner literally came storming out of the kitchen and yelled at us in front of the entire restaurant! NOT ONLY WAS THIS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR ON HIS PART, HE ABSOLUTELY CROSSED THE LINE AND SCARED 4 CHILDREN. The other diners in the restaurant commented on how they could not believe a restaurant employee/owner would treat paying customers in such a way. I wish all of your customers had seen this. This all happened before we were even close to finishing our food so even if we had the intention of "cleaning up" the jelly and sugar (which of course we would have) we never even had the chance. I will do everything in my power to share this experience with others so that other people do not have to go through this. I would never give them a dime and if you are thinking about taking your children here you may want to reevaluate. I will continue to post this feedback as long as I can. read more

I simply do not understand how people can say this is the best breakfast place in Myrtle Beach. That doesn't bode well for all other breakfast establishments if this is the best. Even standards like grits look like they came right out of an instant grits box. A look at any of the pictures posted here will tell you what they serve - caned fruits, with some fresh, synthetic maple-corn syrup, synthetic "spreads" although you can ask for butter (and you have to ask), packaged pancake mixes, frozen sub-standard meats fried in obviously old oil. My take - this is a below average establishment serving processed, chemically laden packaged foods. If this is what you like, then eat here - and eat the value-priced buffet, that way you can load up. On the bright side, the staff is warm, efficient and provides service with a smile. That's why I tipped 40%. My search for a decent Myrtle Beach breakfast place goes on. read more

Mammy's is a delightfully clean restaurant with oldies music playing at just the right volume ( not too loud or soft), pleasant and cheerful waitstaff, and just the right amount of food choices on the buffet. Honestly, it's the first time that my husband has told me that I chose a good place to eat:) He gives it two thumbs up as well.
