Visited Paula Deen's Myrtle Beach, SC location on Mother's Day Sunday 2026 around 7pm. The place was full but there was no wait time for our party of 6 adults. We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. Overall, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. It's a nice place to feed a large family who hates buffets. read more

This was a bucket list for me and unfortunately it wasn't as I had expected. My husband & I were to meet family for lunch at the Boardwalk and decided on Paula Deen's Family Restaurant. Will say the area, the location, the draw and the atmosphere is fantastic, but not the food. Our family left disappointed by the overall quality of the meal, particularly given the establishment's reputation and the high price point. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift store located in the downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). Great Service and okay food! We went to Paula Deen's during the afternoon so it was pretty slow which was nice! As soon as we walked in we got greeted by the super friendly staff in the gift shop! Then we took the escalators upstairs to the restaurant area (the building was very clean as well). We went upstairs got seated right away. There menus work by a family style buffet. But one thing they will inform you, YOU CAN NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO-GO besides desert!! We ordered a variety of things! (Listed in pictures along with a menu). Overall the service was amazing! Our waitress was great checking on us often, refilling drinks etc. The food was alright! We were a little disappointed in the Country fried steak (seemed a bit tough), Mac and Cheese and Meatloaf (both seemed to be sitting for a while before we were served). I was so excited to finally try Paula Deen's restaurant! It was served family style and price was per a person, and all that you can eat. You choose between any main course and your sides. None of them disappointed! We got meatloaf, fried chicken, and southern fried pork chops with gravy. The fried pork chops with buttered green beans and the corn pudding were some of my favorites. We also got a slice of ooey gooey butter cake to go! The Paula Deen store is always a hit, so many cute items and lots of great kitchen gadgets to shop around for. We go to Paula Deen's every time we go to Myrtle Beach and it had been a few years since we last visited. Prices were higher which wasn't a surprise but what killed the whole experience was how horrible the Mac and cheese was. I almost screamed when it came out to the table. I used to watch her cooking show all the time back when I had cable and food network. It was a pleasant surprise when we walked in that she was there!!! It was a long line to have her sign her cookbook and take a picture with her. Being pregnant and hungry, I settled for admiring her from afar, but I was stoked to see her and it made me more excited to try her restaurant. The shop is downstairs and the restaurant seating is on second floor. They have an elevator and an escalator that takes you up there. Our waiter explained to us the concept of the restaurant, which is like a family dining Buffet. You choose your price point by selecting the number of dishes you want to eat, and it is unlimited. We chose "The Savannah" which allowed us to get 3 meats and 4 sides. We ordered the fried chicken, catfish and ribs for our proteins, and the collard greens, mac and cheese, cheesy grits and fried okra as our sides. Whenever you want more, you simply tell your waiter to bring you another order of the particular side or protein you want. Since it is a buffet, keep in mind that you cannot take anything to go. I feel like our eyes were bigger than our stomach and we wasted so much food. Overall, the food was not as spectacular as I had imagined. It was bland "southern" food that lacked the soulfulness I expected. Everything could have used more seasoning. It was so disappointing! It made me think, did Paula actually go to the kitchen and taste this food? Because she surely would not approve and it has her name on it! He did a great job throughout our meal and was definitely the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations. The chicken and dumplings tasted like the dumplings weren't fully cooked, and the fried chicken lacked the flavor we were expecting. We came just for dessert, not knowing that their normal fare is an all you can eat family style meal of $25 per person with 2 mains and 4 sides to share. They did let us only order dessert for $4 each. Portion sizes were small. Definately get the VANILLA Gooey butter cake. It is fantastic ! We tried the Chocolate gooey butter cake too, but it was a bit dry and not as good. It reminded me of a brownie. My friend ordered the "seasonal cobbler" and it was horrible. It was so bad, she asked to exchange it for the gooey butter cake. Not sure how the cobbler is "seasonal" when it seemed the peaches were from a can. We also thought it would have a pie-like crust but instead it had a doughy topping that was like congealed glue. Do not get this ! Our server was really nice. The restaurant is upstairs, while there is a gift shop downstairs. An escalator can take you up and down or there is an elevator available at the far right side corner of the gift shop. Hubby and I have eaten here before, but the menu has changed a bit. They used to have chicken pot pie, now it's chicken and dumplings. Dessert used to be included, now it's $.99 extra if you order it. But it's still all delicious food!! We chose the "Savannah" which includes three meats and 4 sides. We chose chicken and dumplings, beef pot roast and fried chicken. We also had the Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and cheese grits. Service was great- fast and friendly. Ummmmm, it's ok at best. Our neighbors sitting across the table from us told us not to get the greens because they were "salty." I was not gonna get them anyway because they don't have cornbread. The Mac n cheese is awful. (Sorry). The string beans are ok. The fish is solid. The meatloaf tastes like something is wrong. The fried okra is good. The cream corn is good. The banana pudding can be skipped. The apple cobbler has no cob. Best thing on the menu is the ooey gooey chocolate thing. And the servers were excellent! This place has been on my list since 2010 , very disappointed, we ordered the fried chicken, fried fish , meat loaf , sides of mashed potato,cheese grits, collards and cream corn , the only thing that was almost edible was the chicken , meat loaf was dry old and mostly bread , fish was terrible mushy and breading was wet, collards so salty you couldn't eat them , grits ! How do mess up grits ? They tasted like salty wallpaper paste , after we left I had to run to the bathroom! Seriously. Checked out the broadway and came across this restaurant. It's located upstairs from Paula Deen's store. This place is definitely unique as I've never tried something like this before. Essentially it's family style ayce, where we choose the option of 2 main dishes and 4 sides. It was a-lot of food! They started us off with buttery biscuits for the table. The fried okras were surprisingly good. Ribs fell off the bones, cream corn was pretty tasty, fried chicken wasn't dry, all good with the refreshing side salad. The potatoes were unfortunately too mushy, and the desserts were way too sweet. Butter Y'all. If you've never been to Paula Deen's it's surely worth it if you're in the area but I wouldn't make it a destination restaurant. The restaurant is above her store up stairs and you get a nice view of the lake at Broadway. The server was wonderful and always ready to bring over more food or refill our drinks. You can pick how many main dishes you want and we went with four: Chicken and Dumplings, Fried Catfish, Fried Chicken, and Chicken Fried Pork Chops. The best was the Chicken Dumplings. Possibly the best dumplings I've ever had. The Fried Catfish was good but could have been crisper. The Collard Greens were tasty (made with what I think was ham hocks). My wife's daughter-in-law, who came down from Kansas, never had collards and she liked them. Definitely try the creamed corn; creamy and sweet. It's delicious. One of our favorites that we visit every time we are in town. It's unlimited food, family style for around $24 a person. That includes dessert as well, get the ooey gooey butter cake, just do it. What a nice and special experience this was for me. My Daughter and Son-in-law took me yesterday for dinner. I have always wanted to go to the one in Savannah for years now and I'm betting it's every bit as good as this one was. The environment and decor are a solid 5 stars for me. I love how it's arraigned and the pictures of Paula and her boys. The gift shop is very nice and I love seeing the cut out of her in the kitchen that was really cool. Now the sides : mashed potatoes they were real baby reds that seemed to be hand smashed and tasted perfectly seasoned. We had fried okra-(I did not taste it, but my son in law said it's the best he's had anywhere, and he looks forward to it when they come to Paula's kitchen. I believe him. (It's the texture of any okra for me I just can't) and we had creamed corn which was so rich and very well seasoned, last but not least we had macaroni and cheese I did not taste that one either, but my granddaughter is a very picky eater and she loves it when they go here . It looked really good but I'm not a fan of anybody's Mac and cheese. - yes I'm picky too. Desert is includedsnd you are able to get it to go. 3 of us chose the gooey butter cake and my daughter chose peach cobbler I haven't eaten my butter cake yet but they ate theirs and it looked amazing the cobbler looked hot and fresh . The ONLY downside is you cannot take any food leftovers with you. I literally ate myself sick trying not have them to throw any of that delicious food away. That's why I haven't tried the desert yet- I chose my desert to go because I knew I couldn't finish it. I wish you could order a small meal because my granddaughter wanted fried chicken and Mac n cheese but only ate one piece and a spoonful of the macaroni . Paula Deen's Family Kitchen was my first meal in Myrtle Beach. Admittedly, I wasn't ready for it. Known for their unlimited, all-you-can-eat menu items, be sure to bring your appetite here. The food is certainly heavy and filling. As quite a few of us weren't that hungry, we opted for the cheapest $24.99 option, which included a choice of two "Down Home Dishes" and four of "Paula's Famous Sides" for the table. The two main dishes we chose were the Spare Ribs and the Georgia Fried Catfish. Our sides included green beans, candied yams, mac and cheese, and salad. My favorites ended up being the spare ribs and mac and cheese. Service and ambience were both on point. If in the area, I'd say this restaurant is certainly worth checking out. read more

I have had stomach surgery so they were gracious enough to offer a lower price for me. My husband is a pescatarian so they also offered a lower price for him. I'm bias when it comes to the southern charm smile and warm biscuits! I have recently tried Paula Deen's in Tennessee but I had to try the restaurant in my home state. I don't regret it for a second. The service was through the roof! I had made reservations and requested that I sat at the large open window to get the best seat in town. Both were very good. Our sides were Cole slaw, yams, green beans and mac and cheese. I like all but the mac, just lacked some flavor or maybe salt. All in all the food was good. We got one each of the different deserts. Only liked the banana pudding. Total cost with a Hurricane Punch was $40. But it is all you can eat and we had a nice window view.
