Molly was our server, & she was Amazing! I have never seen a server shell out drinks and so much food so quickly. She was pleasant and patient, considering we had three teenagers at the table with one of them ordering like 5-6 sodas (to my dismay and horror lmao). She joked she should get one of our kids a pitcher. We had the fried chicken, the fried pork chop, chicken dumplings, and the BBQ ribs. Our favorite were the ribs. The sides were a hit. We got the fried okra, the mashed potatoes, the mac and cheese, green beans and fries. For the additional side it is $2.99 a person. Honestly, I felt the sides were so tasty & better than some of the meat dishes. The fried pork chop and the chicken and dumplings were not a hit at our table, but we did devour the fried chicken and get an extra order of ribs. We had no idea that this was a bottomless refill, but I don't know how anyone orders more than one extra entree because the portions are huge and quite filling. We were lucky to get a table close to the window so we could have a nice view. All of the workers were courteous & kind. If you are super hungry & have a larger party, you have to come here at least once, while visiting Broadway at the Beach. OK to be quite honest Paula did not show me much! Now she has a cute retail store on the first floor. You have to go up an escalator to get to the restaurant. It's big and spacious and well appointed but the food in my opinion just OK. I particularly enjoyed the collard greens and the creamed corn but the fried chicken three out of five the other sides, mediocre and her biscuits were like little bricks. They were way too dense for me to enjoy The service was great. Meals are served family style. You can choose 2, 3 or 4 meats and as many sides, maybe three or four and it comes with the biscuits. Dessert is an additional charge. If I remember correctly, you also get water, iced tea, lemonade, or soft drinks included in your meal. I've eaten at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant in Savannah, Georgia many times and enjoyed each and every visit. We stood in long lines during their popular years for hours in the morning, just to get a table reservation for dinner later that evening. Crazy as that sounds, it was always fun because we had such great conversations with people from all over the country while waiting. We also enjoyed meals there during the final days when standing in a morning line was no longer necessary. So I can say without any reservation that we would have never returned if the food we had today was being served back then. Paula Deen's fried chicken once upon a time was EPIC. But IMHO, this current offering in comparison is night and day to the deliciousness once served in Savannah. As a matter of fact, we didn't enjoy any of the meats or sides. Our food experience tasted like an entirely different restaurant recipe and to top it off the chicken was overcooked and dry, something we never experienced at Lady & Sons. After sharing our disappointment with management, our bill was cancelled (except for my cocktail) and we left, likely never to return. What a disappointing end to a fabulous food era, because the food at Lady and Son's was one of our families favorite reasons to vacation near Savannah. It was almost always the first meals of our vacation, but the food we were served on this most recent visit to Myrtle Beach they can keep. On a brighter note, the restaurant interior is beautiful and the location is fantastic. The staff were friendly and our server pretty much brought out the entire menu trying to satisfy us. Each bite of each item was so disappointing that I asked him not to bring anything else, but he insisted on finding something, anything redeeming. Liked the concept, short menu, all you can eat of the items you chose. It allowed staff to run plates and meals much more quickly. We did Ribs, Fried chicken, meatloaf, and one or two others. I'd say it was 50-50, some were great, like the ribs or chicken, but I think the meatloaf and others were unmemorable and missed the mark. Staff was very nice. Visited Paula Deen's Myrtle Beach, SC location on Mother's Day Sunday 2026 around 7pm. The place was full but there was no wait time for our party of 6 adults. We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. This was a bucket list for me and unfortunately it wasn't as I had expected. My husband & I were to meet family for lunch at the Boardwalk and decided on Paula Deen's Family Restaurant. Will say the area, the location, the draw and the atmosphere is fantastic, but not the food. Our family left disappointed by the overall quality of the meal, particularly given the establishment's reputation and the high price point. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift store located in the downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). We came to the boardwalk for seafood, but unfortunately they didn't have that as an option, so we came to Paula's restaurant instead. I used to watch her cooking show all the time back when I had cable and food network. It was a pleasant surprise when we walked in that she was there!!! It was a long line to have her sign her cookbook and take a picture with her. Being pregnant and hungry, I settled for admiring her from afar, but I was stoked to see her and it made me more excited to try her restaurant. The shop is downstairs and the restaurant seating is on second floor. They have an elevator and an escalator that takes you up there. Our waiter explained to us the concept of the restaurant, which is like a family dining Buffet. You choose your price point by selecting the number of dishes you want to eat, and it is unlimited. We chose "The Savannah" which allowed us to get 3 meats and 4 sides. We ordered the fried chicken, catfish and ribs for our proteins, and the collard greens, mac and cheese, cheesy grits and fried okra as our sides. Whenever you want more, you simply tell your waiter to bring you another order of the particular side or protein you want. Since it is a buffet, keep in mind that you cannot take anything to go. I feel like our eyes were bigger than our stomach and we wasted so much food. Overall, the food was not as spectacular as I had imagined. It was bland "southern" food that lacked the soulfulness I expected. Everything could have used more seasoning. It was so disappointing! It made me think, did Paula actually go to the kitchen and taste this food? Because she surely would not approve and it has her name on it! The "best thing" if I had to say there was a best, was the fried chicken, grits and collard greens. The complimentary biscuits were thick and dry. The catfish was thin and fried too hard. We go to Paula Deen's every time we go to Myrtle Beach and it had been a few years since we last visited. Prices were higher which wasn't a surprise but what killed the whole experience was how horrible the Mac and cheese was. I almost screamed when it came out to the table. I've lived in Myrtle Beach for 16 years, And I usually try to avoid the "tourist" restaurants; but my wife wanted to treat me to Paula Deens so we went. We were seated right away (it was off season) and we had a nice view from our window. The food here is advertised as served "family style" - and it's "all you can eat" but you can't change from your initial food choice. I ordered the fried chicken, my wife ordered meatloaf. I don't know what family they were trying to feed but my 2 scrawny pieces of chicken, a drumstick and a wing was pretty pathetic for $24.95. My wife's meatloaf was totally covered in bar b que sauce (also 24.95) and I tasted it and my only reaction was it was vile and long past being freshly made. I called the waitress (who was great) and complained about both dishes. She brought me a couple of larger pieces of chicken and allowed my wife to choose another entre. The side dishes were fine. So now it was time for dessert which is at a small extra charge. I chose the "Ooey Gooey Vanilla Cake". What came out was neither Ooey nor Gooey. It was the thickness of a poptart and about half the size. And it was hard, although it didn't taste too bad. All in all, this was a mediocre experience at best and it's good they cater to tourists who aren't likely to return. Personally, I won't. We had the Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, and Chicken Dumplings with Green Beans, Candied Yams, Mac n Cheese, and Cheesy Grits. The three entrees were ok - not exactly the quality that I was expecting. Fried chicken didnt have a flavorful batter, and the chicken dumplings had an odd burnt smell to it (but didnt taste like it which was weird). We tried the Chocolate gooey butter cake too, but it was a bit dry and not as good. It reminded me of a brownie. My friend ordered the "seasonal cobbler" and it was horrible. It was so bad, she asked to exchange it for the gooey butter cake. Not sure how the cobbler is "seasonal" when it seemed the peaches were from a can. We also thought it would have a pie-like crust but instead it had a doughy topping that was like congealed glue. Do not get this ! Our server was really nice. The restaurant is upstairs, while there is a gift shop downstairs. An escalator can take you up and down or there is an elevator available at the far right side corner of the gift shop. Great Service and okay food! We went to Paula Deen's during the afternoon so it was pretty slow which was nice! As soon as we walked in we got greeted by the super friendly staff in the gift shop! Then we took the escalators upstairs to the restaurant area (the building was very clean as well). We went upstairs got seated right away. There menus work by a family style buffet. But one thing they will inform you, YOU CAN NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO-GO besides desert!! We ordered a variety of things! (Listed in pictures along with a menu). Overall the service was amazing! Our waitress was great checking on us often, refilling drinks etc. The food was alright! We were a little disappointed in the Country fried steak (seemed a bit tough), Mac and Cheese and Meatloaf (both seemed to be sitting for a while before we were served). Checked out the broadway and came across this restaurant. It's located upstairs from Paula Deen's store. This place is definitely unique as I've never tried something like this before. Essentially it's family style ayce, where we choose the option of 2 main dishes and 4 sides. It was a-lot of food! They started us off with buttery biscuits for the table. The fried okras were surprisingly good. Ribs fell off the bones, cream corn was pretty tasty, fried chicken wasn't dry, all good with the refreshing side salad. Butter Y'all. If you've never been to Paula Deen's it's surely worth it if you're in the area but I wouldn't make it a destination restaurant. The restaurant is above her store up stairs and you get a nice view of the lake at Broadway. The server was wonderful and always ready to bring over more food or refill our drinks. You can pick how many main dishes you want and we went with four: Chicken and Dumplings, Fried Catfish, Fried Chicken, and Chicken Fried Pork Chops. The best was the Chicken Dumplings. Possibly the best dumplings I've ever had. The Fried Catfish was good but could have been crisper. The Collard Greens were tasty (made with what I think was ham hocks). My wife's daughter-in-law, who came down from Kansas, never had collards and she liked them. Definitely try the creamed corn; creamy and sweet. It's delicious. We heard good things about it but we were disappointed. The problem started when we went to get a table. It took 18 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We had to ask what was going on and were told that there was a computer problem. AI line built behind us and they hadn't even seated the large party ahead of us. One of our favorites that we visit every time we are in town. It's unlimited food, family style for around $24 a person. That includes dessert as well, get the ooey gooey butter cake, just do it.
