The best service I've ever had. The vibe was unbelievable and the food did not disappoint

Booked a reservation - table wasn't ready so we sat at the bar. The bartender was so nice and accommodating. Fernando is the BEST server. So sweet and patient. The service is great - everyone is open to answering questions and very hands-on in curating the best dining experience. I had the tuna, the beef, rigatoni (bolognese) and a plain Margherita pizza.. yum. Portions can be deceiving - they are small but mighty! We arrived early and enjoyed a glass of wine outside, the place is so classy! Upstairs, we were seated by the window and loved the beautiful ambience. Big fan of MAMO''s energy and aesthetic, but the food was just OK. They also messed up at the bar by giving my guest a lower quality whiskey versus the one that he requested, and it almost felt like they were not banking on my guest not being able to tell the difference so I didn't really like that experience. He had to send his drink back and it felt like they were trying to pass it as the drink that was requested. The music was nice. The crowd was nice. I just wish the food was better. I would still go back because it wasn't horrible, it was just OK but it wasn't spectacular. I came specifically for the pistachio pasta because I was on a pistachio cake at the time and it was extremely overwhelming. Loud, see-and-be-seen vibe. Probably the largest collection of beautiful people that I have ever seen under one roof in New York. I felt like a dork wearing a sporty polo and ABC pants. Overall I found the dining experience (plating, service) to be quite sloppy for the price point. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Every single dish we had was better than the next. We had the burrata, beef carpaccio, truffle pizza, branzino, pastas and steak. Not a single dish was anything less than spectacular. The wine our water recommended was wonderful and we ordered copious bottles. The service was some of the best I have ever had and the ambiance made my birthday dinner one of the best ever. We had a truly excellent experience this evening at Mamo. Giorgi was our host & amplified our hospitality experience to the next level. He gave us such specific care and service, it made our visit so special . We were offered some excellent white wine selections from Italy and my favorite, a Chablis from France, followed by some excellent recommended, starters and entrées. We particularly loved the Come a Capri & Melanzane alla parmigiana. The La nostra Cacio & Pepe is not to be missed & we will be dreaming about it until we return. The Polletto arrosto con verdure di stagione was excellent & I especially loved the vegetables served with it. The dessert menu looked excellent, and we indulged in the crème brûlée. The food was so so so good!!!! And the vibes were amazing. Also the service and staff was 10/10. You have to try.

The vibes here are really high class. Its romantic and feels expensive. But that being said, the tables are pretty on top of each other upstairs. Listen was our food good- yes. But was it worth the outrageous prices? Not really. The pastas were a bit too butter heavy and sit so well. The best thing we had was the Burrata, but once again, not crazy about it for its price. Come for the vibes, expect some good food, and leave with empty pockets. read more

A beautiful fall day, where to eat near Canal Street. We went around the corner at West Broadway and discovered Mamo. Small, lovely, friendly, reasonably priced...and spectacular food! The genial and efficient hostess offered a choice of seating. Near the bar at the back, we could admire the Italian-movie-themed art and the immaculate tables. Seared tuna included a lemon/olive oil dressing to die for. Perfect Italian bread with olive oil, tapenade and luscious Italian salame, followed by penne al'amatriciana for me and penne bolognese for my companion were generous and really yummy. The crispy bacon and smoky tomato sauce on my plate were amazing, the bolognese very creamy, both dishes well dressed with pecorino. We had no room for dessert, but either tiramisu or affogato would have been perfect. I'm looking for an excuse to travel downtown and return, the roast chicken is calling to me. read more

Outside of being a Victoria secret model's headquarters this place is making its name in the city. It survived the pandemic and that's how long I've known about it and only tried it yesterday but deeply regretted not going sooner. I ordered the Julius salad it was very refreshing, the margarita pizza was cheesy soft and tasty so good I had to break my no soda rule and ordered a coke then I had the rigatoni that right there was very filling and saucy and damn good by the time I had dessert I felt like an Oompa Loompa .. the tiramisu was creaming powdery at the top and chilled like revenge. A guy named Fernando was the waiter he was very nice and attentive. At first I felt that Mamo is too busy for all of their customers but things turned around once we got seated. The decor gives Miami jr Cipriani downtown little sister I like it it's sexy upstairs is vibrant I like the music too. I'll definitely come back. read more

In light of Yelp's sudden interest in adhering to review guidelines, let me say that this is 100% my own words, with no ulterior motive other than to convey my awful experience at Mamo. "I was "greeted" by 2 ladies up front who told us in no uncertain terms that we did not have the right dress code, and that she would have to ask her manager if we would be "allowed" to dine. No smile, no hello, nothing." "As we waited patiently on the side to see what they came up with, we noticed very clearly that there were two other parties that were wearing sweatpants, slides and oversized baseball caps." "About 5 minutes later, 3 other girls who worked at the front came over and started giving us side eyes and whispering about scheduling. (Btw, why do you need 5 girls up front for check in?) It's obvious they were talking about us as all their eyes were on us." "At this point, it's PALPABLE how much they don't want us there. It would have been easier to tell us that we were late and there were no longer seating available on a Saturday night, totally acceptable." "To be fair, the food was excellent, with a fun flair of Italian homestyle cooking, including some delicious French inspired appetizers. I was pleasantly surprised by my lunch here today. It was a bit cramped since they only seat downstairs for lunch so I walked in not expecting much but wow. Service was really top notch, they were constantly refilling waters and refolding our napkins as people left the table to use the restroom. What a cute little surprise to come back to. Our server even told us to "buckle up" when our food came because it was so delicious and he was darn tootin right. Highlights were the truffle pizza, truffle ravioli (pack a mint, okay?) and the burrata with avocado and orange I think? But the star of the show was that dang tiramisu. Wowowow. I don't even like tiramisu but this was so creamy and delicious! And the salted caramel ice cream from the sundae... I need a tub of that ASAP! The drinks were nice too. Second time here. Great for small groups (5 max) even better for a date night. Make a reservation because getting a table can be a little tricky depending on what day and time you go. Overall good food. The truffle pizza is pricey but it's worth trying. My rigatoni pasta was very salty. i'll pass on that. Lastly, i highly recommend the crème brûlée. Such a delicious Italian spot in Soho. The lighting was dim, the interior was decorated very nicely, and the service was great. I came here around 6:30 with a party of 8, and we sat upstairs by the big window overlooking the city streets. For appetizers, we started off with the Come a Capri, Melanzane alla Parmigiana, Focaccia al Tartufo (or truffle pizza), and Carpaccio de Manzo... They also come with table bread with salami and some spread. The Come a Capri was burrata and tomatoes which was light and refreshing. The Melanzane alla Parmigiana (eggplant parmesan) and beef carpaccio were also pretty good. The truffle pizza was amazing. The cheese was creamy and the truffle flavor was strong. If you like truffle, this is the move. I got the Branzino for my entree which was delicious. Perfect size for one person. It came with some broccoli, cauliflower and black rice. The crust was so flavorful and crunchy, and the fish inside was very tender. The black rice had a lot of flavor as well, which I did not expect but loved. I heard the sea bass special was also delicious, so I would recommend both these fish dishes. I also had a bite of the truffle risotto, but honestly, I did not like it at all. It's such a heavy dish and WAY too rich and creamy. My mouth felt sticky after eating it, and you literally can't eat subsequent bites without having a palate cleanse with water or some greens. I also couldn't really taste the truffle flavor since the risotto and cheesiness overpowers it. Other than that, everything else was great. read more

I came with a large group for a celebration and everything was amazing - from the food, to the service to the ambiance this place exudes high quality. It is also candle lit and has a romantic atmosphere - great for a date night! I ordered the burrata appetizer with honey and pistachios and the papparedelle with short rib and both were very tasty. We came to celebrate my brothers college graduation. He lives close by and said this is his favorite restaurant in NYC. That is a pretty bold claim, knowing NYC is home to some of the worlds best restaurants. I'm glad to say that my brother was spot on. Everything was spectacular. The drinks were very well made, the service was 10/10 and the food was delicious. I especially loved the Capelli D'angelo, Gamberi e Pistacchi. I would not have thought to add shrimp and pistachio together but it works great. Overall we all had a great experience and I highly recommend. read more

We paid for our dinner using two credit cards. A day later, the full amount was deducted from my card--instead of $100, they charged $335. When I called, I was told to wait 5 to 10 days to receive the refund. Exactly one week later, I called again and asked them to send me a receipt confirming that the refund had been processed; they told me to email them, promising a response that same day or by the next morning. Solid spot for Italian in SoHo - MAMO takes a contemporary spin on classics. Lunchtime is a light and airy affair. Come in a little later and take your time if you can afford it. The pre-fixe lunch is a great option if you do. Start with a variety of fresh salads or apps. I enjoyed my seared tuna and capers. Secondi has a variety of comforting pastas but the branzino is pretty solid too. I appreciate that the food is satisfying but still light especially if you have to head back to an office after. Came here for an impromptu early dinner with a friend on a Wednesday night with no reservation and we were seated immediately. It was empty when we sat but by the time we left around 8 every table was full. Venue is very sophisticated and elegant, definitely a good spot for a work dinner. Overall the food and service was solid. I did slightly feel like our waiter was annoyed with us when we didn't order drinks and specifically recommended only the most expensive things on the menu, but could have been me exaggerating things. They did have gluten free pasta as an option which wasn't on the menu but was very appreciated. The price points were very high in my opinion, but I guess you are paying for the ambiance and location of the space. The gnocchi was very unique and delicious, that and the artichoke starter were my favorite. Competition is steep at this price point and for good food in general in this neighborhood so I would say overall that it is a solid spot. read more

I was taken to Mamo restaurant by a client of mine. The food was excellent. The service was good towards the end of my meal. A music speaker fell off the side of the Restaurant building and hit me on my left shoulder a couple inches more. It would've probably hit me in the head and knocked me out. When my client went to tell the manager what happened he came out picked up the speaker offered to buy us dessert and gave a discount to my client off the check. He should've picked up the whole check I was injured. I'm actually in a little pain, but the Restaurant didn't seem to care. But the food was good... I don't know if I'll ever go back. read more
