This is a really nice spot in the West Village that has a classic feel to it. We were seated in the Main Dining Room upstairs for brunch on a Sunday. The service was pretty slow - it was over 30 minutes before we were able to order. Luckily the food was worth the wait though. The pancakes are a must order - they were nice and fluffy, topped with butter and syrup giving the perfect sweetness. The burger was cooked really well. I appreciated the fact that the fries were served on the side so they maintained their crispness without the burger juice seeping onto them. Everything about this restaurant was great! The staff was friendly, and attentive to our group's needs. I have to mention how appreciative we are with how accommodating the staff was given a portion of our group was quite late to the reservation; they were understanding, communicative, and flexible with the kitchen's open time as our reservation was near the end of the lunch/brunch shift. After having a great experience, we went back to The Golden Swan for dinner. This time it did not start well. We were expecting to be in The Main Dining Room but were given a table in The Wallace Room. We had made the reservation through OpenTable and the host explained that OpenTable does not differentiate between the rooms and they had assigned us to a table in the Wallace Room and they were full in the Dining Room. We were disappointed especially since the Duck entree that we came back for is not on the menu in The Wallace Room and we had liked the ambiance of The Dining Room. However, Patrick the Manager came over to us and told us he tried to move us but it was completely full in the Dining Room. He apologized for the situation and made sure that we were allowed to order the Duck. He then checked on us a few times during dinner to make sure we were doing okay. Patrick certainly helped to make a difference and we ended up enjoying our dinner. As for the food, we loved again the Foie Gras Mousse, the Roasted Duck Duo, the Duck Fat Fries and the Sticky Toffee Pudding - all terrific! read more

Out with my besties!! Always fun times and The Golden Swan did not disappoint this evening. Promptly seated at a nice table by the window by the manager to celebrate my bestie birthday . Our server Isaiah was amazing. He told us about happy hour drink menu and entree specials for the evening. Decor was simple and very clean. However, the Apps and entrees we had was finger linking darn good lol. We started with the spicy Hummus with naan and the Artichoke Drip with crab meat with bruschetta. I had the fish and chips as did the birthday girl. My other friend had the filet branzino and we shared a side of roasted cauliflower with a lemon cream sauce. Service was great. The staff was highly attentive and always filling up our cups. I truly enjoyed our visit here and will definitely comeback for another after work outing. Good not great, 3 stars is about right. We had a reservation and walked in on time and was quickly seated. Unfortunately, the entire restaurant smelled like sewage. It permeated through and really ruined the experience for me and my group of 4. We ordered a bottle of wine to share, but they didn't have the one we wanted and were told to select a different one. We ended up selecting a new one at the request of the somm which was fine, but not ideal. The service itself was fine, waters were refilled timely and when we were ready to leave they were easily flagged down. The restaurant is small. We ordered the hummus which was great, would recommend this again. I ordered the burger well done and found it to be extremely salty and the fries a questionably small amount. Great stop for brunch in the West Village. Many place are so jam packed, but Golden Swan has the right level of busy-ness going on, though you still want to get yourself a reservation to be sure. The restaurant is split on two levels, just like Spotted Pig was back in the day, though the restaurant has classed itself up a bit since the days of Spotted pig with the upstairs being almost a formal dining room, and the downstairs being a comfy West Village pub type space. There's also certainly fewer bad things happening in the building compared to the olden days! While I haven't made it yet for dinner, the brunch menu is incredible. The duck hash is amazing, but the burger is one of those burgers where you feel really good that you ordered a burger. The fries are incredible, and the sauce that comes with the fries doesn't come in large enough quantities at all! The pancakes are a must at brunch, they're just oh so good...and lots of people make mediocre pancakes, so it's nice to have something ot live up to. Looking forward to trying for dinner. read more

The overall vibe made it perfect for a celebration. Now, the food... truly amazing. I had the pancakes (because I will always choose pancakes), and they did not disappoint...fluffy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent. Each of my friends ordered something different, and not a single plate missed the mark. From the appetizers to the mains and even the cocktails (I had an espresso martini for the first time) everything felt well executed and fresh. You can tell they really care about the quality of their menu. The service was also top tier. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and had great recommendations. She genuinely seemed happy to help us celebrate. It made the experience feel that much more personalized. Another bonus is the location. The Golden Swan is super easy to find and situated in a great part of NYC perfect for walking off brunch with a little shopping after. The perfect flavor of a slight tartness and sweetness, along with an evident richness. The texture was also very good - slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. An hour after we ordered our server told us they ran out of pancakes and were making some more dough to cook them...(?). My friends and I came here for dinner on Friday night and were astounded with our experience. I am vegan, they are both carnivores, and all of us left full and so happy we came. At first glance, their menu does not look vegan friendly whatsoever and I didn't expect to be able to eat much given French restaurants tend to be less vegan-friendly than other cuisines. Our waiter had a conversation with the chef and let me know they could do a vegan cavatelli pasta, a chilled corn, soup, or a little gem salad - all 100% vegan. I ordered the cavatelli pasta and wow was I impressed! The pasta was handmade that day and tossed with a delicious and light red sauce, fresh tomatoes, and herbs. Fresh pasta can be just as delicious and well-textured (is that a word?) without eggs so I would love to see more restaurants following suite! You can tell they take pride in the ingredients and presentation of their food. Everything was stunning to look at and even more delicious. After dinner, we went downstairs and enjoyed some drinks at the bar. Highly recommend the extra dirty vodka martini and espresso martini here! Can't wait to come back. The Golden Swan took an ugly duckling of a space and turned it into one of the best restaurants in the West Village. They preserved enough of the landmark charm to preserve the community, but have truly transformed the upper floors into a comfortable yet elegant space. The food more than matches the ambience. Everything was made from fresh seasonal ingredients. We started with caviar (really high quality Osetra) and duck liver moose which paired perfectly with a rose from the Canary islands that the somme recommended. We split a risotto as a course and it came out perfectly al dente not like the precooked gruel that some places serve. We then had the duck and the lamb duo. Both had creative spice combinations and accompaniments that did bot overwhelm the ingredients. We then split the chocolate dessert. With our entrees and dessert we had a nice red wine that was reasonably price for being over 20 years old. What tops it all off was the service. Everyone is laidback yet attentive which makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The Golden Swan is a great addition to the neighborhood and we look forward to making it one of our new usual boîtes. read more
