Man Yee Express took over the former Sunshine Oriental Restaurant on Loudon Road, next to McDonald's. I already miss Tina at the former business, where she always greeted me with a big smile whenever I stopped in for takeout. The former business also offered dim sum, which is not offered here now (in 2020), so it's now a short drive to Manchester and Goffstown for dim sum. Just by the name Man Yee, there is already a Man Yee restaurant located across town next to Milano's Pizza serving mainly Chinese food and they have a sushi bar too. I've ordered takeout from the original Man Yee on numerous occasions, calling in my order before I leave my office and by the time I arrive, my food is all set! I decided to stop by the new Man Yee Express for dinner takeout. The staff were wearing masks. The place including dining area and counter still looks the same as before and the booth area was yellow taped off, so there were only two tables spaced apart for eating in. I took a look at the menu here, which offers a streamlined Chinese menu including the usual appetizers, soups, fried rice, lo mein, chow mein, vegetable dishes, chicken, beef dishes, shrimp dishes, and chef's specialties, plus luncheon specials (with pork fried rice or white rice and egg roll) served until 3 PM. In addition to Chinese food, they are focused on Cajun seafood choices including seafood boils (choices of clams, crawfish, mussels, shirmp, crab legs, scallops, lobster tail, dungeoness crab) with corn & potatoes, fried seafood baskets, and family size seafood combos. The prices seem fair. For takeout, I ordered a Fried Oysters Basket with Sweet Potato Fries ($10.99 plus tax) and a Large Hot & Sour Soup ($5.25 plus tax). My food was all set in about 10 minutes. The Fried Oysters Basket initially seemed small at first, but the fried food was packed really good into a small black paper box, which had 8 deep fried oysters over a good amount of sweet potato fries. The fried oysters was hot in temperature and crisp batter on the outside of the soft oysters, 1 tartar sauce cup (Sysco) provided. The sweet potato fries were hot, lightly crisp outside and soft inside. The hot & sour soup (quart size, or 3 bowls) was pretty good and had mildly spicy flavored broth, which had a mix of folded egg, tofu, seaweed, bamboo, and red pepper. I would defintely return again here soon for the Chinese luncheon specials during my lunch break.

We ordered two luncheon specials, chicken and beef Szechuan. Both came with pork fried rice and egg roll. This newly owned restaurant has a professional menu, but no effort has been made to give the customers a pleasing atmosphere. The walls have a couple of tacky things hanging up. The szechuan was very, very salty. Especially the brown sauce on the Szechuan. Both meals were 65% celery. I don't think I'd go back. Already miss the friendly kind prior owner.

Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39

We were able to park close by and get in before the big crowd. Barley seems like a happening place. An upscale Irish Pub, for sure! The set up is a bar with a decent amount of restaurant booth seating. Of course, there were tables of different sizes available, as well. We were given a 10 minute wait after meeting with the Hostess. There was alot of activity around the bar and lots of drinks coming out of the bar well....always a good sign! When our time was up, we were quickly escorted to our table. We were each given a menu and a drink menu. Lots to choose from on both menus (see the pic below) I ordered the chicken sandwich with caramelized onions and my son ordered a Chicken Pot Pie. He had a beer and we both had water with a lemon. The food came rather quickly. I was immediately taken back when the caramelized onion was not on my sandwich. I was going to ask the waittress to fix it but it was far to busy and it was not a big deal. Of course, I would have enjoyed the onion but "no big deal". My son's Chicken Pot Pie was a good size and was thrilled with it. We both ate everything on our plates. Our waitress checked in with us a few times to refill, which was nice and came to take the plates away after we were finished. We did not get any dessert. To be honest, we did not see a lot of dessert plates coming to other tables, either. We were thinking maybe people leave to get ice cream at one of the nearby establishments. 5-Stars Price: Fair Parking: plenty near by Vibe: perfect...I would like to watch a game, someday, at the bar Pepsi/Coke: Coke Would I come again? Sure...we enjoyed ourselves and the food and service was excellent

Everything our party of four ordered was a disappointment, starting with an ice-tea cocktail that was undrinkable-- our nice waitress took it off the bill. My grilled salmon on a bed of rice arrived as dry as the Sahara, surrounded by burnt roasted carrots -- at least I think that's what they were. My husband's steak he ordered medium rare was also way overdone, served a block of with cold mashed potatoes. The overly sweet Apple Pumpkin Bisque (for $9) went uneaten after each of us tried a spoonful -- it was more like a bowl of pie filling than soup. Even the dessert, bread pudding with some whipped cream, was gloppy and unappetizing. This is a great place to go if you are fasting.

It was 7pm--not exactly closing time. The waitress was pleasant but completely overwhelmed. She explained "it's a race weekend." The race is Sunday. I do not blame the waitress. The responsibility falls completely on the incompetence of management. Either they did not anticipate "race traffic " despite events being held in the area for three decades or they weren't willing to sell lobsters at the sale price anticipating greater demand throughout the weekend. Of course, we were caught off guard and had to change our selections. The waitress returned 30 minutes later and finally took our orders. I opted for a healthy option--the broiled trio. The fish arrived smothered in bread crumbs and lukewarm. The french fries tasted as if they were cooked hours earlier and held under a heat lamp. I tried maybe a quarter of the fries in search of one decent, crisp specimen and never found one. My broccoli was overcooked. Hubby ordered a shrimp cocktail--which was standard fare and generous. He ordered fried shrimp and chips. Again, fries were a complete bust. The shrimp tasted as if the fry oil hadn't been changed in a week. The coleslaw was flavorless. Now, I understand why the Bedford location closed. The mismanagement and mediocrity of this chain has caught up with them. Makris, although a more expensive option, is closer to the racetrack and more dependable. If you're looking for the best seafood in southern New Hampshire, make the trip to Surf in Nashua. You will not be disappointed.

The two others had the scallops and were very impressed. One of our party has a tomato allergy and they were careful not to have it on the dish. Then came dessert time. I called ahead to make sure they had carrot cake because i had read great reviews on it. It certainly lived up to those reviews. One of our guests was too full for dessert, but managed to get a spoonful of both of ours. My friend had the Boston Crean tart, and we all declared this a winner also. They were very accommodating as I had booked for four and had to call them before we came in person's plane was delayed. When I asked, because of the reviews I had read, if they would have carrot cake that evening, and the gentleman said as long as I'm here we will always have carrot cake.
