Mana deserves to be in the conversation of best restaurant in the PNW. The whole experience was wonderful, dare I say tantalizing. My wife and I sat inside and I'm certainly glad we did. There we got the inherent sensory benefit of seeing, hearing, and smelling each dish as it was prepared for the seating that night. It gave it a cozy feeling to an otherwise open and airy atmosphere.. The chefs and service staff were humble and friendly, and it was a nice touch for the head chef to speak to the crowd as a whole to thank everyone in attendance and their local purveyors before the last course. Legitimately the best tasting menu I have ever experienced as a vegetarian in the United States. I have tried a fair share of places in the Bay Area, Socal, Portland/Seattle, and New York and can honestly say that this place blew me so far out of the water, I would literally come back to Leavenworth just to eat here again. We made spur of the moment plans to visit Leavenworth when I happened upon this place on Yelp. I figured it would be a cute spot for a wedding anniversary celebration so I grabbed a Friday evening spot. Best decision of my LIFE. I was able to write that I was a vegetarian and also provide my credit card info to hold my reservation online so it took the step of calling the restaurant to confirm these details. Food wise, we started with an amuse bouche with a little tapioca chip on top of delicious goat milk sorbet of sorts. Absolutely delicious and refreshing. My vegetarian courses included a panzanella salad followed by a squash/zucchini stuffed with mushrooms, a cauliflower bisque, and an inside out arancini of sorts. I can honestly say that every single dish was incredible and I can hands down tell you that the squash/zucchini/mushroom dish is the best thing I have ever tasted in a restaurant to date. I was honestly so impressed by all of the dishes. The dessert consisted of a little sorbetto with chocolate mousse and it was also amazing. My husband had the meat/fish version of everything I ate and thought everything was stellar as well. They are currently open Th-Sun and do just one seating which takes about 2.5 hours to complete. It feels appropriately paced and does not drag esp if you end up doing the elixir pairing (non alcoholic) or the wine pairing. Parking is street parking but relatively easy to find in the area. Your only options are between the alcoholic or non alcoholic pairing. The non alcoholic pairing was very unique and much appreciated for this expecting mom! Going to keep this pretty short. We loved Mana and sat outside a couple of weeks ago under the trees and lights. The staff was wonderful and the food was awesome. The preparation on everything above and beyond. The elixir pairing was excellent and the wine list was great too. The wine bottle prices were not out of line and not jacked up which I can appreciate but they basically only had one white, red and sparkling wine by the glass. Which I felt limiting if you didn't want a bottle and didn't want to do the wine pairing. I understand they want to show the world they can do a nine course meal with one sitting. It's a thing I get it but we all agreed that it was way too much food, by the time the halibut came around we were getting close to stuffed and only picked at it (all four of us agreed on this). I know they will never do this but maybe have two seatings with 3-4 courses or allow some a la carte type menu. Plus it took over three hours from start to finish. My friends and I came here while visiting Levanenworth and were treated like nothing less than royalty. My friend has quite a few dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, no nightshade vegetables) and knows that usually all of them can't be honored at restaurants given how hard it is to make meals outside of that. Mana made a 5 course meal perfectly tailored to my friends needs and not a single thing wasn't delicious. We were just blown away by the creativity, the flavors, and overall execution of each dish. The service alone deserves its own paragraph because each and every person we interacted with was so kind helpful, and friendly. Tables are hugging the 3 walls and some tables in the center. Towards the middle of the building is where all the food preparation is. You could see the chefs making dinner, which is a nice change from most closed door restaurants. My plus 1 and I enjoyed an 8 course meal. I added the non-alcoholic pairing. The courses were small, but since there were 8 of them spread out over a few hours I left content with my meal. The 8 courses were mainly veg with some proteins toward the end of the meal. The waiters and the chefs were interactive with the diners. They talked about where their food came from we even had a scratch and sniff portion. I'd like to start off by saying I'm a bit of a critic as I'm passionate about good food, and from the looks of this place, I thought I'd be in for the perfect birthday dinner. The interior has a humble and warm atmosphere, I loved the little details like the "Mana Love" cards and the large family table in the center of the dining room. You can tell that this place has heart. The staff were all incredibly friendly and were enthusiastic when describing each course and pairing. However we were not acknowledged for the first 20min after being sat and watered. We got the wine pairing, and the non-alcoholic pairing; and the first round of drinks were delicious! It was a sparkling red and a local honey June, which was very nice but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a craft drink like the others, as it didn't feel very authentic. While 50% of the wines weren't to my taste, they were paired well, I enjoyed the selection and would still recommend the wine pairing. The elixirs were good but not great. Most were paired nicely but weren't very exciting or special. Now on to the food... the amuse-bouche was a disappointing start the our dinner, it was essentially deconstructed sour cream and chive potatoes with caviar sprinkled on top. The beet and radish salad was BEAUTIFULLY platted and was one of our favorite dishes, giving us hope for the rest of the dinner. Then we had a crab mezzaluna with artichoke (you should know everything will come cold if not lukewarm, including the soup). While the pasta was cooked to al dente, it was so cold the pasta was tough and rubbery. The carrot bisque was poorly seasoned, room temperature and just tasted like baby food. The halibut was borderline raw (which some people prefer, however I was just not a fan), it came with a brownish starchy mash that looked and tasted awful! Probably the most disappointing dish of the night. At this time in the dinner we were ready to leave, but the Pichanha was the highlight that made us stay, it was perfect and melted in your mouth, possibly my new favorite cut of beef. The dark chocolate mousse was rich and the huckleberry's added a sweet and tangy burst of flavor, but again wasn't an impressive dish. The staff was so sweet, and made me feel special by remembering my birthday and bringing a candle with dessert. This is not one of the worst meals I've had but for the price I expected to be impressed, or at least not disappointed. We drove from Seattle to come here to celebrate our anniversary--and we weren't disappointed! First thing's first: We felt very comfortably distanced from the other tables; there's enough room between them. So it was a relatively safe experience in times like these. Now, on to the food: So much flavor in every bite! We attended the Sunday Supper which is five courses instead of eight. I'm glad we did because we were very, very full and I don't think we could've eaten another three courses without a lot more pain, even if we had another hour in which to do so. The wine, in contrast, clashed with dish or simply did nothing for it. We won't get the wine next time. First course: An amazing savory mushroom/cashew "cheesecake" that served as dip for some crackers. This was sooo good! Savory and fresh. Second course: A butter lettuce salad with candied sunflower seeds and yummy, sweet tomatoes. Amazingly delicious healthy hemp dressing. Third course: Pumpkin ginger soup with lemon-something and cilantro. Yummy and complex! It was addictively spicy. Warm, comforting, and surprising. Fourth course: Lamb curry served in an edible squash "bowl" with a yummy chutney and mungbean dosa. Such great balance for this dish. Mainly it was comforting and delicious, with subtle sweetness. Fifth course: Apple "tort" on a crushed pecan crumble base, topped with caramel/anise ice cream and drizzled with maple syrup. OMG. This was divine. Like the best apple crisp you've ever had. It tastes slightly healthy, almost like granola, but with lovely browned bits of deliciousness and the sweetness from the apple and ice cream. In summary, we are foodies from Seattle who are obsessed with fresh, well-done food. The truly amazing thing about Mana is that it manages to be so delicious without being unhealthy. Any old restaurant can add a pound of butter, salt, and heavy cream to make something taste rich and yummy, but you can't eat like that too often! Mana is totally guilt-free: it's all about nutrition. They make creamy sauces without cream. The elixirs are low-sugar. We came in to Mana after walking by the restaurant, which looks like a cute yellow house, and noticing their sign and menu. We were able to make a reservation for that day and we did have to leave a credit card number for the reservation. We had the 8 course meal on a Saturday night and had an amazing experience! The food was very well crafted and thought out, the chef explained each course clearly and carefully and the whole experience felt very personal. They also had amazing pairing options and we chose the non alcoholic pairing for $24-27(?) and it was such a fresh option to add! I would say that 8 courses was a LOT of food and with the drink pairing, it was overwhelmingly filling. If possible, I would recommend sharing a drink pairing if you want to add it to your meal. While I had an amazing experience, not every course was my taste but I would say I loved 50% of the courses and 100% of the vibe and experience. I came here with my family during the holidays and it was my first time but they had been once before and recommended it. We signed up for the 5 course option and I included the non-alcoholic drink pairing as well. This was a really fun and unique experience, something that I've always wanted to do! We started off with an appetizer of celery root ravioli with goat cheese. It was quite tasty and I would have enjoyed eating more of it. Next we had a very nice salad with cured beets. It was a pretty decent size. The only part I didn't like was the egg but the rest was so pretty and delicious. After that we had a smallish portion of roasted cauliflower soup. I really loved this as it had such a great depth of flavor. For the main course I went with the vegetarian option of lentil meatballs. I also tasted the elk balls but they seemed a little over cooked. I really loved the lentils though! Finally for desert we had a healthyish Apple torte with coconut whipped cream! I really appreciate how carefully the food is selected and presented here. It is even suitable for someone vegan or gluten or lactose intolerant since no dairy or wheat is used! We were so lucky that they were able to accommodate us last minute and what a great dining experience! My husband and I were there last night and we got to meet the talented chef and his wife. First off, the venue was romantic and cozy with modern touches. While waiting for our reservation, they had some benches and a fire pit to welcome us and keep us warm. They even had mulled wine (nonalcoholic). We were then escorted to our outdoor table in an igloo complete with heaters and blankets. Service was excellent and the staff took turns bringing in the courses so we got to meet each one. I love it when the staff are not only courteous and down to earth, but also knowledgeable about what they are serving. The food exceeded our expectations. We can see how much thought was put into each one. Presentation was very nice as well. We highly recommend the wine pairing. We thought the quality was on par with high end restaurants in the San Francisco/Bay Area (where we come from) but much more reasonably priced. We went for dinner on Thursday. Loved the food, service and safety measures. Safety - We had opted for outdoor seating. They have transparent plastic bubble tents for couples and larger ones for 4 and 6 seaters. We got the last one at the end of the property. Not much ambience wise with a bunch of porta potties in my line of sight on the adjacent property. Food - The food was excellent!! We loved every dish. We started with the beet, shaved fennel and fiddle head fern with candied sesame seeds salad. It was a delightful mix of textures and flavors. The asparagus soup with the labneh rhubarb whip was refreshing and unexpected! Smooth and creamy with darts of tart that only a labneh can lend. The miso sake and maple smoked king salmon with cashew cheese stinging nettle polenta and wild ramp chimichurri was just a wow amazing dish. The salmon was heavenly - tender and juicy and went so well with the contrasting green polenta and chimichuri sauce. The balsamic roasted lamb pot pie with shimeji mushrooms was a surprise. Puncture the perfect crust of the pie, and the aromas of the juicy lamb fill you up. The mushrooms, celery root and lamb were an amazing combination. I nibbled every crumb of the pot pie. The wine pairings were great but the non-alcoholic elexir pairings (which my wife got) were works of genius. Service - was excellent. We'd look to go back sometime in the future. read more

I so wanted to love this place. The reviews seem stellar, the concept is right up my alley of what I love, and the price was right. However, beyond the professional wait-staff it was truly nothing but a culinary disappointment. We ate here on 10/4/2020. Let me preface this by saying, I am sure the chef(s) here are great. And perhaps this meal was a fluke, and probably other meals will be great here. But the meal I ate was just profoundly not good, here is why: 1. Spice, heat, and more spice--almost every dish had MASSIVE heat. 2. Repetitive flavor experience with little variety (did I mention 3/5 dishes featured heat as the star?) 3. Poorly executed main dish where the meat had the texture of spam in a can 4. Poorly executed dessert where the texture was like a bad 1960's gelatin mold 1st Course: Smoked Beet, Samish Bay Lavash, Urfa Biber Seared Pears, and Pickled Shishito Peppers served with House-made Herbs de Provence Crackers. All of this would have been LOVELY and tasted great, if there was not some unnamed oil plated near the cheese item on the plate that was like an oil made from ghost peppers (perhaps an exaggeration, but I got a DOT of whatever the oil was on my cheese and I could not taste the rest of the first course. My mouth was uncomfortable hot and my tongue was burning). 2nd Course: Hope Baby Butter Lead Salad with Daikon Radishes, Soft-boiled Quail Eggs served with a Hempseed Parsley Dressing, and Smoked Pumpkin Seed. This course was actually lovely and would have been great had the vinegar from the salad dressing not have been so acidic that when it mixed with the spice from the previous unidentified hot oil in the previous dish--by the time I finished my salad, half of the skin on the roof of my mouth had come off from being so irritated by the heat and the acidity from the dressing. So, that was less than fun and totally unexpected! 3rd Course: Curry Lead Carrot Coriander Soup with Purple Basil Whip The flavor of this would have been great--but again, why the heat? Why the spice? This was so spicy and not a great addition to the menu after the first course was a blazing spicy oil and the high acid in the salad dressing...adding curry next felt like an assault on the tongue. 4th Course: Three Sister Beef and Samish Bay Aged Gouda Stuffed Ancho with Port Fennel, Smoked Lentil and Gibbs Corn Ragout, served with Black Garlic Mole and Black Lemon Gastrique Again--spicy! Did I come to a $300+ dinner just for a pepper challenge? No. I came her to taste my food. Which unfortunately all I am tasting is heat and spice. This dish had a mole sauce that was so flavor forward and, again, had heat. I felt like I was just repeating every single course all over again. There was no refreshing variety to the meal. It was like 3 different ways we can make things spicy in a high-end meal. Also, aside from the spice, this dish was not good at all. My whole table didn't eat this dish because it was essentially meatloaf stuffed inside a pepper, drenched in molé...it just didn't play together well. We expected high end meat, or shredded beef, not ground up beef that was compacted like spam in a can. The texture was off-putting too. 5th Course: Sunflower Seed Brittle Raspberry Rose Tort with Citrus Whipped Cream Th highlight of this dish was the sunflower seed brittle. The Tort however tasted like it had way too much gelatin. If you have ever seen the horrific 1960's "Spaghetti Gelatin" molds with spaghetti mixed in gelatin formed into a shape--that texture is what this dessert felt like in your mouth. Way too much gelatin. I was formed and hard, it didn't melt in your mouth. My entire party just ate the bottom of the dessert. I have really thought about whether or not to write this review, as I have been a business owner and I now work to manage a customer service department for a major tech company so I understand that very often the company (or restaurant in this case) is doing the best they can and th best they know how. No one wants for their customers to have a poor experience. But this dinner felt like someone had lost a bet and allowed an eager beginner to design a cutting-edge thrilling menu for a specific type of person. This did not interpret to the average high-end food consumer well. I have enjoyed meals at a burger place for $20 more than this. And I don't say that to be petty or rub it in, but because that shouldn't never be a customers experience when they are at a restaurant like this. I wish I was local and could come back again to give this place a second chance. But instead, I hope my review will help the chefs consider if this is how they intended their meal courses to be experienced or if there is something that could be done differently. Wow - I was blown away by this dining experience. Incredible atmosphere, food, drinks, everything! Situated a couple blocks away from the main drag of Leavenworth, this is definitely outside the norm of Leavenworth's usual offerings of Bavarian food or quick eats for day trippers. Our five course, three hour meal took place in their outside dining area underneath some large oak trees with lights threaded around the patio. Each course was well thought out with a perfect balance of flavors. I opted for the non-alcoholic pairings and found those to also be extremely creative. Although no one in our party chose to get the wine pairings, we sampled a couple glasses from the selections and were also impressed by those. Wow. One of the best dining experiences of my life. Fantastic, creative, delicious. Worth planning a trip around. Can't recommend this experience enough. Staff was friendly and service was spot on. Special place. Tip: try the the wine pairing and the non-alcoholic pairing both. Was a fun and amazing experience. I tried food I normally would and our party chose the wine parring, which was amazing! I wasn't sure this was going to be my vibe, but it was lovely sitting outdoors. They brought us blankets for those that felt cold. And the staff was amazing! They kept checking on us, never rushed us, and were very friendly. I will be recommending this place to friends and family. read more
