I don't know why they don't have 5 stars because they provide 5 star care! I have been a patient for almost 10 yrs. during which I can say all the staff have come through for me so many times. They approach healing from a naturopathic & "modern Western" view. The care team focuses on whole body wellness and advocates sound alternative medicinal therapies like accupuncture, meditation, vitamins & supplements, but with good sense will go straight to modern medicine if that's the best for the ailment. I like that everything is under one roof, I can get my physical & occupational therapy here and also women's care like the Pap smear. It's an upscale almost boutique clinic that is a blessing to find. Some other helpful points: *‍They offer Telehealth via MyChart or Zoom and it has been my go to for a few years now because it's so convenient and easy to do. *Billing is hassle-free! Have a few things going on requiring separate billing? Think car accident insurance workman's comp, regular health insurance all together. No problem, no attitudes about it and no incorrect charges coming to you. *Most medical insurance is accepted *Impressive network. They give referrals based on personal knowledge not just because they're in the system. *Up to date! They know about current treatments & medicines, what's working better than others. *Tranquil office overlooking the ocean, easy to get to on the bus, Uber/Lyft, driving, scooter/bike. Secure parking and lock 'em up spots. * Close to food & shopping! Down to Earth is literally a few blocks away and they have yummy food and groceries then 1 block over is Fisher's for office supplies and cool pens. Down the road is Ala Moana center if you want more shopping. With Manakai o Malama going to the doctor almost got fun! read more

I have been trying to speak to Gloria at Niolopua for 3 months. The gals that answer the phone tell me she is "really busy" and that they will relay a message to her and she will be in touch with me very shortly. Never happened. I did not feel like they even cared about me. Gloria was the only one who could adjust the pressure on my CPAP and not being able to speak to her caused me some health problems. I couldn't even ask who my doctor was because "only Gloria can help you". I suppose I don't really have to worry as Niolopua is going belly up and I found out who my doctor is, so I just go straight to her. read more

Updating my review to 3 stars. Scott Acree is amazing 10/10 provider. Would recommend seeing if he's available. Their customer service is good. Everyone is usually friendly over the phone and in person. Parking is ok, they have a structure so easy to get to just need to pay. Telehealth is a hit or miss. Scheduled some in the past where my provider forgot so just be prepared to waste your time some times. They don't do in house labs so if you need to get labs done you have to schedule with your provider and then go to the lab which is ok if you're ok with that just wasting time though. I suggest going in person or finding another provider who values your time. Not happy that my provider missed my telehealth appt today and couldn't even say sorry running late or someone couldn't relay that they're not available. Why have availability if not ganna show up? Would give negative stars if I could...this place used to be awesome...the only thing was back in the day at their old office, I always had to wait a bit longer than when my appointment was supposed to be but I was fine with that. The problem I ran into recently was that they banned me from returning back because apparently a couple years ago, one of the office staff who was very rude btw, reported to the management that she didn't like the way I spoke to her. Of course there is always a reason for the way people react and I was frustrated at how I was being treated by said office staff employee...I was on my way to my appointment one day at their new location and was having a difficult time finding my way to the office so I called the office to let them know I was running a little late as a result and I also asked for directions from the parking lot to their office. I thought everything was fine after getting off the phone with them but when I got to the office, I was turned away for being 11 minutes late...from what I recall, the girl said that since I was over 10 minutes late, they needed to reschedule my appointment for another day. I had driven all the way from central O'ahu.for the appointment only to be turned away for being 1 minute late! Unreal and of course I had a few choice words for that rude employee. That all said, unfortunately i was informed recently when I tried to make another appointment that I was banned from coming back as a result. I left a couple messages for ownership to contact me back in regards to the issue I had with the office staff member so I could explain my point of view but I have yet to receive a call back. Cowardly and unprofessional if you ask me. It's unbelievable how much customer service has gone downhill nowadays compared to what it used to be. Manakai o Malama used to be great but it's a far cry from what it used to be and they need to check their employees for their customer service skills and hold them accountable for how they treat their customers. Sleep Wellness Center is very convenient to use, you take the device home and it monitors your sleep. Have to return it by the same time the next day or they will charge you. I don't know what happened to this place since I stopped going 2 years ago (due to admin issues that are too long & exhausting to cover here) but out of the blue, I received a bill for a service provided in July 2022 that was "past due". Its is now March 2024. When I called I was told that they recently switched billing services and that they've been sending me monthly past due notices for this same bill since early 2023. I have lived at the same address since May 2022 and this is the first time I've seen this past amount due notice. I am all for paying a bill if I truly owe it. But this is highly suspicious. I honestly am tempted to pay it just to make it go away, but it's not an insignificant amount and it's also the principle of the thing. I'm worried that 2 years from now I'll get another bill from them for something that they claim they've been sending me statements for that I've never received. I never had issues with the medical service I received from this place but this experience just adds to the previously mentioned admin reasons why I switched providers, coincidentally 2 years ago. read more

My girlfriend and I have been going here for more than a year now and we love it. The doctors and therapists are are all amazing and the office staff are great. We go here for general medicine with Dr. Q but also see Roxane for massage and Tara for acupuncture. Absolutely love them. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful, especially Jeff who was so on it when it came to getting my last-minute referral in to see a specialist that was booked out and communicating with me. I had NO idea that part of the cause of my constant headaches, migraine, and just neck and shoulder tension was caused by clenching my teeth at night and furrowing my brow as I slept. Dr. Kaminskas started administering Botox treatment to these areas and now I only get 1 to 2 mild headaches a month and they are usually not debilitating like the ones I had been experiencing. I have been going here for about 7-8 years. I have seen multiple practitioners there. Dr. Qblawai is who I see now and she is kind, attentive, patient and knowledgeable. I work with Lia and Nani for PT who are amazing. I have also seen Tara for acupuncture. My only complaint is they set me up with acupuncture 2x a week saying it was covered by insurance, and then I got a bill in the mail for almost $700 as it's $75 a session and they had me going 2x a week. Very upset about that and feel they need to work with me, as I never would have gone for $150/week while injured and not working. Otherwise, great place. Parking is a bit annoying because you have to pay for it and it isn't cheap. read more

Avoid the Sleep Center Review just for Niolopua Sleep Center (which is under Manakai O Malama). Customer service from some of the staff is consistently rude and abrasive. Newest model sleep devices are only ordered for the most severe sleep issues, which makes no sense when insurance is paying for the device. You're not even asked if you'd prefer the newest technology. Some of the team are good but it doesn't compensate for the unprofessional and abrasiveness of others. Find another sleep center if you need this type of therapy. read more

I was referred for a sleep study to Manakai O Malama. Unfortunately the environment does not help with sleep. I could here noises and other patients through the walls and doors of my room. One patient was extremely loud when talking to the staff and woke up early and left around 3am. So, he basically kept me awake and woke me up early from what little shut eye I could get. I went in for a sleep study on Nov 5th and was told my results were going to be ready within 10 business days. Today is Dec 8th, which is 22 business days since. Initially, I was told the delayed was due to the holidays in November. Recently, I was told that they are short staffed. Either way, I would not recommend this business if you are trying to get a sleep study done. Not until they get things together. read more

AWFUL, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE experience here today. This should have been a 0 star review!! Sat down with the "manager" (and later she claimed to be a part owner) of this establishment. I was referred to this establishment by my doctor. When setting up the appointment I was asked if I wanted to do a sleep study. Being that my doctor did not recommend a sleep study, I said no. I also asked for an advance copy of any documents that would need to be signed to avoid and unnecessary delay on appointment day. I provided my email address and never received the documents. The "manager", "alleged part-owner", told me that she was concerned that several years had lapsed since my last sleep study. When I related to her what was said when I spoke to her co-worker just a couple of days before today, she seemed to be offended that I was not on board with her recommendation and sarcastically let me know that she has been doing her job for twenty (20) years and that she knows what she's doing. Great, however, during her twenty (20) years I highly doubt that she became licensed as a doctor since she clearly wanted to go against my physicians referral instructions. Her intent seemed to come from a good place, however, her delivery was S**TTY. She also assumed that I was Samoan and told me that she helps many Samoan people. I AM NOT SAMOAN. MY HUSBAND IS. Why was my race even part of this conversation??? I was also told to sign all of the documents she had and that I could take them home and look at them later. I told her that I had requested copies so that I could review them two days ago. I also asked her if she expected me to sign them with out reading them and she said "YES, you can take them home and look at them later". VERY DUMB SUGGESTION!!! I have many years of experience in legal matters and her suggestion to sign first, ask questions later is a BIG NO-NO!!!!!!! In conclusion, just because someone doesn't agree with your recommendations and doesn't do what you tell them to (let's remember....YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR), it doesn't mean that we are trying to be difficult or combative. It is my right to say, "NO" and you should be okay with that. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE canceled my appointment and denied service because I didn't agree with you. What you should have done is supplied your services AS PER THE REFERRAL you received from my doctor. YOU could have consulted with my doctor PRIOR to the day of my appointment if you had concerns. FULL DISCLOSURE...when I was leaving, I was so upset, I called her a bitch, however, this occurred AFTER she canceled my appointment and denied service. Not a proud moment for me but like they say... if the shoe fits...(I hope she's smart enough to fill in the blanks). I also looked up the business registration for this establishment and the "manager", "alleged part owner" doesn't appear to be a part owner. She is not listed on the business registration at all. Both of these women are excellent APRNs with Julie specializing in Naturopathic/Homeopathic medicine. Both of working in tandem are very valuable as medical professionals. Both of these APRNs truly LISTEN to you and are proactive with finding the right medical intervention for your symptoms. They are professional, compassionate and organized. This office is so inviting and the staff are the nicest people ever. I have no idea why anyone would give anything less then 5 stars. Rebecca the nurse practitioner integrates natural approaches with Western medicine trying to get at the root causes of health issues. She's very thoughtful, caring and sharp. I highly recommend her. The office also has IV glutithione and vitamin B shots which can be very helpful support. They bill insurance for any alternative labs and protocols that they can get them to cover, which many functional medicine doctors won't do. The only reason I didn't give them 5 star review is because the office can be very disorganized at times with high support team turnover. read more

Terrible !! The web site looked very impressive , so I filled out the new patient contact form . I haven't heard back from them so I decided to call the office today . A young " boy" answered the phone after a long pause he said " hello". Was I calling the right place ? I wondered ? What professional business answers the phone with a unsure hello. I inquired if this was Manakai O Malama . He said "yea" Hmmmmm , so unprofessional I again thought . The I proceeded to tell him that I had filled out the "on line contact form " and he said what form and why ? Hmmmm ?? At this point I was thinking this business was not ligit. I spoked slowly to him as a child because he appears to answer like a child , and after a few questions to him I found out why he sounded confused , it was because he was confused ! He said he only worked there for two weeks and he didn't know any thing . I politely asked him to please transfer me to someone who knows more , like a office staff . I was transferred , and the " girl" who didn't sound much older than that young boy answered. I told her my experience with him and she just laughed and said " oh yes that's correct he only worked for two weeks." When I asked her about scheduling a appointment , she said that the Dr.'s are busy helping Maui ???? Only Maui ??? I thought . She said that is why no one can help you . Anyways , that's where it ended . I was very impressed with their impressive website , and the list of Doctors . But this is not what it appears to be by my personal experience . I have been a patient at this clinic for years. Dr. Acree is attentive, knowledgeable and caring. He's been able to walk me through multiple issues due to bone density issues and endocrinology issues. I grew up in a medical clinic as a daughter of a retired RN, so I know a good practitioner, and in my estimation, Dr. Acree is top. Even my specialists speak highly of him. With the new offices, which are easy to get too and we'll done, the staff has also upgraded their services to patients. Manakai o Malama is good with initial visit. Once you repeat visit the care goes down. I need albuterol for my asthma and couldn't get the medication I need from them. The pharmacies and other doctors claim they can't get ahold of anyone when they call. I've been able to get ahold of administrative staff on every call. However, they will pass you on to lines where no one answers and no one will get back to you. It has been weeks and I have not been able to get simple health care services. Waikiki Heath was free and far better than Manakai O Malama. Be warned!! read more

Went here for a PCP visit- couldnt Say I had the best experience- the doctor offered no solutions to my problem nor a referral. Why i really come here is for the Theraputic Massage on the 4th floor- RC is my man. THIS IS NO FRU FRU place. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. ANATOMY was spot on and the pains I was having in my masseter, Temporalis, and Occiptal area. So painful but soo good. Def have some pain and bruising. But def helpful! I had a very negative experience with Manakai O Malama. In May of 2019 I was diagnosed with apnea and sent to these guys for equipment. Their location was convenient, across from Straub, and their onsite staff was pleasant and helpful. i received my equipment and I was off to a good start. Then everything went south. When it came time for new supplies, about 60 days later, I could not reach anyone at Manakai O Malama. They did not return calls or emails. After another 30 days, I reached out to the sleep lab at Straub and I was advised to find another provider, which I did, in Kailua. I have been getting calls from Manakai asking to work with me again, but I would not consider it based on their recent track record. read more

I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea back in November through their sleep department. From the beginning I was given contradictory information on how to maintain my CPAP from their sleep department. Now I'm out of supplies and about to go on a trip off island. Instead of working on a solution and having my supplies shipped to the mainland for my trip, Nadia decided to give me attitude and refused to help with my situation. The staff and doctor SUCK first of all Dr. Yefim Levy sees me Tuesday 5/9 Looks at my X-ray tells me what I already know my right hip hurt from a fall at work. Then he asked if I'm allergic to aspirin. I say yes. How does he know I'm allergic? HE LOOKS at my medical records. Then I tell him I get a Lidocaine patch when I went to the ER Sunday 5/7. What does he do prescribes to me a pain medication and muscle relaxer. I think to myself I already got those medication's from the ER doctor. Monday 5/15 I do a zoom meeting with him and ask why he prescribed medication's I already got from ER doctor. He said he had know idea I already got those medications. HELLO if you look at my records it would state that. Oh BTW he did ask on 5/9 if I was allergic to aspirin. Wait it gets better I was scheduled for a massage 5/12 on Thursday 5/11 I got a call saying massage. Therapist is sick and my appointment is canceled fine NO MENTION of rescheduling. On Friday 5/12 there phone service goes down. HELLO how come they didn't EMAIL me to let me know that? Because they suck at communicating. This rating should be a ZERO read more

My wife needed a specialist for what she had and every single time we were there and needed help, every person we talked to would take a minute to make sure our concern was addessed. Unless they were on the phone, we never heard the words "I'll be right with you." They took care of whatever we asked and then went on with they were in the middle of doing. They are the working model of customer service. They may be busy, but they will take a minute to make sure if everything is ok. They are one of the best medical facilities I have seen in my 65 years of medical care. I recommend you give them a try. I don't think you can do better. read more

As someone who has been with Kaiser all my life. The doctors here literally saved my life! Dr. Levy and Dr. Zunin are top notch doctors they could run a hospital! They figured out what was wrong with me when the doctors at the hospital could not!! I love the fact that it is a small family oriented clinic especially cause I don't like hospitals. Very welcoming and nice waiting room with a view. All the staff is super friendly and made me feel welcomed!!
