I wanted to discuss measurements and was greeted rudely to start. The short conversation basically made us feel like we were bothering him. He immediately asked about how much I was willing to spend, rather than my thoughts on what would work best for someone new trying to enter cycling. I just moved to town and after a hectic move my bike was in dire need of a tune-up. I brought my bike to Manchester Cycle Shop and I had a fantastic experience. I am a goofball who hasn't ridden my bike in a LONG time, but Bob still treated me with the utmost respect. He did a great job getting my bike back up in safe working condition. I also recently purchased a itty bitty Scion IQ that had no room for my bike. So Bob out-fitted the scion with a car rack and took quite a bit of time in the searing heat just to show me how to get it, plus my bike, onto the car. All in all, the service is great, the prices are incredibly reasonable and I hope I can get in good enough shape so that I can participate in their biking club one day! read more

I am originally from Manchester, and ever since I was a kid, I've been going to this shop for bikes and bike repairs. As an adult I moved to Boston and have been riding the same bike daily for about ten years. Recently, two significant parts broke. I brought it to three local bike mechanics in Boston. Two said my bike was beyond repair, and a third thought it was fixable but was too busy to do it. So I put the bike on the back of the car and took it to my home shop - Manchester Cycle Shop. Bob fixed it, no problem. Doing business here is simple and straighforward, and the outcome is excellent. At a really good price too! I'm very happy to get my bike back as good as new. We were looking into getting back into riding again after many years of not having the time to ride. Stopped in this shop to be educated on newer bikes. After talking to the owner for about a half hour we bought two Dual sport bikes. He took the time to make sure that we had the proper size bikes and showed us some other options that some people use. He gave us the time we needed to feel comfortable about our decision and it was great not being pressured into buying a bike that was being pushed on us. Stopped in at Manchester Cycle this morning to pick up a new helmet to replace my 15 year old crumbling styrofoam one I was currently using. The shop was bright and clean. We were immediately greeted and asked if we could be assisted. I was given several options for helmets with great descriptions. I could try them on and I never felt pressured one way or the other. (Or pushed to a more expensive one...) We enjoyed our experience so much that my boyfriend bought a helmet as well and he wasn't even planning on making the purchase! We were also able to gather some information from them about the local biking trails. Pricing was very comparable to Dicks or Sports Authority- and we were able to support a local business! I will definitely return when I need some biking accessories or help. read more

I go there at times only because it is close by. The owner has zero personality. He isn't friendly at all and acts like you are bothering him with entering the place. An owner should be cheery and welcoming to his customers, which makes me want to go there. I don't know how he stays in business because of his drab attitude. I would never buy a bike from him. There are other bike shops in nearby towns who act like they want your business. This guy doesn't get it. read more

Great shop. The interior does not have all the bells and whistles of a modern retail environment, but I care about substance - not raz-ma-taz. The owner - Bob - laid back guy who actually knows how to fix stuff (as opposed to selling you something new). He will also sell you what he thinks is right for your style of riding - not the most expensive thing or the most trendy thing. Fair prices. Can't go wrong at this place. read more

I love bikes and have been around them for a while now, have several downhill (Schwinn Moab's) and an XC Mountain Ibis Mojo. I ride my bike to and from work roughly 11 miles a day, and enjoy many trails on my days off. When I say I've put over 10,000 miles on my bikes, I mean it. I admit I like the idea of taking my bike into the shop from now and then so that I can kick back and enjoy, and know enough about bikes to do the basic's. I recently moved back in the area of this bike shop after living elsewhere and decided to give Manchester Bike Shop a chance to take my old cycle shop's place, purely our of convenience. But as of late I've noticed a trend of error's that qualified bike mechanic should have noticed. My first warning was when I sent two of my Schwinn Moab's in for a basic tune (chain, lube, tune, true rims, brakes) and noticed that the front derailleur cable was excessively long (Like I could tie it in a knot around the frame, long). I mean I'm a bike guy and it's not that noticeable so I'd let something like that slide I could live with that, so I rode it to work. Coming down a fairly long steep hill my front brake cable came off, (Having found they were finger tight, not tight tight) leaving me to have to resort to rear braking only. When I brought it back in, they did a quick check of the bike and found that the chain needed to be replaced? I mean that's pretty bad but the brakes not being tight could have resulted in serious problems. The second warning came from me asking them if they could take a look at my front shocks see if they could lighten it (It was a little stiff, but nothing major) and they responded that it wasn't a service they offered. Which I found a little odd. The next warning came in the form of my Ibis Mojo, I brought it in to get it overhauled. (As well as get a new seat, and peddles) I dropped off my bike, made my request and left as I would normally. Picking it up, it looked great and the mechanic made an effort saying that he spent 8 hours with it. It looked great, passed all my quick checks and I left happy. Two months later... My bike is now sitting in a different bike shop getting overhauled again, and I make a note that I did no off road, besides the rails to trails which is a a walking/bike trail very flat and easy on the bike. The front suspension is completely seized and broken, it's being sent out of state to a specialist to completely rebuild. The Rear suspension...needs serious work, I actually forgot the wording the new mechanic said...having only remember "it hasn't been touched in a while" The Rear Derailleur- Broken, everything lose. The Chain -Replaced (To be fair I do go through chains having riding in all conditions) I'm in the process of paying over $700 to fix something that should have been found, prevented/fixed two months ago. So my review is this, Manchester Cycle Shop is good at fixing flats, and minor repairs. If you have any safety concerns or higher end equipment that requires specialized knowledge that you yourself aren't well versed in, placing your trust as I did with Manchester Cycle Shop was a mistake I shall not repeat.
