How many explanation points are too many for a Yelp review? Mancini's is phenomenal!!!! I don't come "downtown" often but when I do, this is where I grab something to eat. Today it is the Truffle Chicken Caprese. I only ate half of the sandwich and I'm stuffed! My cannoli is going to have to wait. They call themselves a "micro deli" and it is small. After a Jibe cycling ride last weekend, we got the chance to enjoy some catered Mancini sandwiches to celebrate Jibe's recent move to a new cycling studio. The sandwich was an amazing surprise. I had the opportunity to try Mancinis a few weeks back with some friends and was unfortantely unable to attend. The ham and roast beef sandwich that I had was 10/10. About as good as it gets in Lewiston. They make the best sandwich I've had in the past year, which is packed with prosciutto, arugula and stracciatella cheese. When you're looking online, you might think their sandwiches are expensive, until you realize you're getting two sandwiches for an average person. They are packed, and they are huge, so the value is actually incredible. The quality is even more incredible. They have specials all the time, so keep an eye on their social media and online ordering. They also sell out of some of those specialities quickly. I highly recommend their tiramisu as well. It is the best in the area, and I've tried everyone's tiramisu. I do recommend ordering ahead of time, as there is very little standing or waiting room inside. There are a few tables outside, so I recommend taking your food to go. The sandwiches hold up incredibly well. Keep them wrapped for hours and the bread is still fresh and not soggy. This isn't the case at some other places in the area. I worked down the street and live a few minutes away, so I am here all the time. There is free street parking on the block. The vibe inside is perfect deli. They have the cases with desserts and you can see the sandwiches being made. I would say this is the best lunch spot in the area, period, and arguably the best sandwich place in the state. read more

My wife and I were in town to attend a local sports event and found ourselves hungry for a quick lunch. I looked up local places on Yelp, and saw the great reviews for this place. As always, my fellow Yelpers didn't lead me astray!! This establishment could not be any smaller, with barely enough room for about five people to stand inside. That being said, they have a very efficient self serve ordering system, coupled with a kitchen staff that creates fantastic sandwiches in a tiny space. My wife and I tried the "grab and go" half Italian, and the prosciutto and fig jam. Both were fantastic! Great focaccia bread and super fresh ingredients. On an interesting part of Lisbon St flanked by other interesting restaurants and local businesses. This is what downtown Lewiston should have more of. Fantastically large sandwiches with fresh and house-made ingredients. The Italian was big enough to share and even could do it as 1/3s or 1/4s if you had a smaller appetite. The food and bread here is delicious and that's why it's a five star. BUT I have qualms about the following: - My SOLE interaction with staff was one half shouting "Did you order ahead?" No "Hi", "Let us know if you need help", "Have you been here before if not you order on the screen", nothing. Literally the order was put on the counter with nothing said. Had to explain to the person behind us how to order. - A tip screen despite my being the cashier who ordered and customized my items and grabbed my own sides and got my own drinks and paid for it all at the kiosk. Sandwhich maker isn't a tipped job. Pay your employees more if they aren't making enough. - $3.25 for a bag of chips that run $1.25 retail and $4 for a Sanpellegrino is unhinged. Grab a soda and chips at the Citgo across the corner and save yourself the trouble. Two chips and two drinks was 2/3 the cost of the entire sandwhich. read more

I ran into Mancinis after a trip to the ER. I was hesitant about ordering a connoli which was not a regret. I'd say it was the freshest one I've had in years. It doesn't take long for that type pastry to become stale. His were crunchy, fresh & wicked good. I ordered a small sandwich & that was great too. Its a small little place & I had no problem parking. I went in & out on my way back to Sanford area. Friendliness & happy to see a customer was mid-star of the road. I'm a clean freak & whenever I cook I put my hair in a towel & incessantly wash my hands. It's the one thing that I can't recall & didn't notice due to ER fog. Today was my first visit after seeing a review on Facebook ! I ordered 2 Left Overs Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwiches that came with hot Gravy ! The sandwiches are large and the bread is amazing ! Love this place! It's a cute, cozy little spot that doesn't have a ton of room to move around so I'd recommend ordering ahead of time. Although, we did order there this time and the service was super quick! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the food was incredible! My husband and I split the Supremo and it was so so good. The portion sizes are huge and our sandwich was more than enough for both of us! This will definitely be a regular spot for us! read more

Great sandwiches with big portions. Prices around $20-$24 per sandwich, but can easily be two meals per sandwich. Tried the Caprese and the Italian sandwiches, and both were excellent with fresh meats. Parking is a little difficult as there's only street parking. Bread was also excellent on the sandwiches, typically a focaccia bread, so light and airy but big enough to hold all the ingredients. read more

UPDATE: I previously gave Mancini's 4 stars because I thought they had a lot of potential but some their dishes weren't as balanced, and there were some inconsistency issues. I'm now changing it to 5 stars because they have since improved in both of these areas. I get lunch once from Mancini's almost every week now. 1. They developed a new system for keeping the bread from getting stale throughout the day. This was big for me. 2. The pasta has gotten better. I don't know if they adjusted the recipe but I have gotten it a couple of times now and I like the new flavor and texture. 3. For a restaurant that is constantly trying new things, almost every new item I've tried has a certain quality and balance to it that impresses me, even if it's a very ambitious idea. 4. The owner and staff are very kind and try to accomodate. They seem open to feedback and want to be a great restaurant. This impresses and encourages me. If anything, my only critiques would be that they often run out of menu items because they get sold out, and their prices (especially desserts) are premium for a lunch spot. But the quality and taste make it worth it. I hope they continue to thrive here in Lewiston! read more

Great find. All the meats, spreads, cheeses are specialty quality. The sandwiches are huuuuge. You get olives on the side which were perfect. Minestrone soup has great flavor. Although it's a tiny place that only does take out, their food is world-class! The gnocchi is perfectly textured and its flavoring with their fresh pesto tastes just right. Quality, fresh, love and care are a few descriptors I would use to describe their process. Business owner is always present and elbow-deep in preparing somebody's order, clearly a man in love with his craft; never fails to greet you upon entering. A truly classic vibe and a shoutout to the heyday of owner-operators who bring people together, create and contribute to a greater sense of community. Lewiston needs more places like this. We loved Mancini's! We tried a couple of the sandwiches and pastas and they all were great! The caprese, and stracciatella stack were delightful, and large portions. The truffle Mac and the gnocchi were also great. You can really tell the pastas and bread are all house made. Delicious! Will be ordering again soon read more

We ordered a bunch of sandwiches that were ready and waiting for us for Friday pickup, the Prosciutto & Fig Sandwich is a flavor sensation that is amazing-one of our group ordered the Chicken Club which is also worthy of rave reviews. These sandwiches are large, filled, made with a hearty fresh homemade bread and they are delicious! We have tried several of the dessert items, the Cannoli, the Burnt Cheesecake and the Panna Cotta all of which were just plain yummy. Did I mention the olives that accompany the sandwiches? Wow, what an unctuous sandwich! I had the Porchetta Panino, it was about the best sandwich I've had in years. The crafted meat was delectable, the garlic aïoli, pickled onions and salsa verde made for such a rounded and satisfying experience. They make their own bread, it's more sturdy than focaccia and more tender than ciabatta bread. Really nice folks, they can put out beautiful food and chat with you at the same time. Went by Manchini's for lunch because we've heard good things, unfortunately we discovered that it's super unorganized and cramped. Which would be fine in somewhere like Portland, New York, or Boston but not in Lewiston where there's nowhere to take it to eat. They are currently changing the menu so there was only a paper menu and it wasn't until we had already ordered that they mentioned multiple other dishes they have available that we honestly would have been more interested in. When we got a text that our order was ready they told us that they had given it to someone else and that they no longer were in stock of the ingredients for my sandwich. I asked for a refund because there wasn't anything else I was interested in and the wait had already been long and they tried to say that I should have come earlier and they would have been in stock and that they're busy. Well we walked right over to Guthries where it was cozy, warm, smelled good. The food was great as well as the staff. Definitely a bummer about Manchinis. read more
