Giving an extra star just cause it's very good genuine Italian food in a town with none! It's not just spaghetti and meatballs, here. Menu is more interesting, bit adventurous, and what we had was very good. Charred cauliflower is a must. Arancini were nice, gooey inside, maybe bit too crispy outside but I liked that. Interesting pistachio pasta dish. Nice seafood stew but an odd combination with potatoes, the breakfast home-fry variety. Inside is bright and service was excellent.

Always a lovely meal at Pomelia. They accommodated myself, my daughter & my baby in his baby stroller for an early dinner. I usually get the fried chicken sandwich but decided to indulge in a pizza with some salad. The pizza was AMAZING!! Love the focaccia bread it is on

Soooo good! I am stuffed and wish I could have tried dessert. Made a reservation for lunch with a long-time friend. We shared a Caesar salad that was garlicky, with crisply croutons & just the right amount of dressing. Warm focaccia bread was amazing and then the pizza!!! Thick, crispy crust, ratio of tomato sauce to the cheese & topping could not have been better. I was intrigued with the use of sweetness that was nestled in the cup char. I especially liked that Mary Beth was our server, made the day and will return.

Great spot, with cool vibe, amazing service, delicious food, and ice cold beer in chilled glasses. I had a Hot Honey Crispy chicken sandwich and fries... it was very good (just the right amount of heat). The pasta dishes and small pizzas being served around me looked amazing as well. Located down an unassuming side street. Indoor/outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Good for small and medium groups. It was busy for a Wednesday night - I'd call ahead to reservations if on the weekend.

This atmosphere was really nice and seated by the window. Service was top notch and the food was very good. We tried the Cheesy Arancini and Ricotta Meatballs for appetizers. I had their Pesce Gratinati which was tasty, and my husband had the Marsala Porcini dish which he absolutely loved and a bottle of wine.

We had a reservation last night for my friend's birthday and I'm glad we did - the restaurant was busy. Service was impeccable - from reservation to seating, hostess, and wait staff. Everyone was professional, attentive and friendly. Asia was fantastic. The dining room is bright. Doesn't rise to the level of "ambiance" for me but it was comfortable enough. While I very much appreciated the free focaccia before our appetizer, I prefer mine with a little rosemary/herb (personal preference) - if not on the bread itself, maybe offer an infused oil? The black pepper was flavorful. Cheesy arancini was good. My panzanella was tasty too. It has a lot of red onion and peperoncini. My friend ordered the spicy ragu di salsiccia but couldn't eat it. He described it as "spice for the sake of spice" and too hot. Again, I realize this might be personal preference. I can say, the manager took it off our bill - without us asking - which was a classy, appreciated move. Service really is very good. The chicken parmigiana (replacement) was good. Several, around us, ordered dessert and those looked good but we did not partake.

From the focaccia to the service to the wine, you cannot go wrong at Pomelia. Don't fill up too quickly on the fresh oil and herb bread to start (you will have one piece and keep going back for more). The frommagio pizza is to die for and a large will feed 2-3 people. The pesto ribbon pasta in a sun-dried tomato based sauce with almonds and focaccia breadcrumbs for texture and it deserves an 8/10. Cocktails and mocktails are as delicious as they sound. Pomelia is my new go to for Italian in the area. Enjoy!

Spicy Salsiccia - local sausage ragu, San Marzano tomato, fennel, pecorino, preheated pasta - perfect balance of flavor and spice!

Our first but not last visit to Brunswick's newest restaurant - Pomelia. Specializing in Sicilian cuisine, their menu offers a different take on similar regional Italian dishes that we've enjoyed elsewhere. The charred cauliflower was nicely different than the usual spicy / buffalo cauliflower - fennel, pine nuts, golden raisins, and pickled shallots make this a fresh and lighter version of one of our favorite appetizers. The pasta all a normal has such a rich, warm eggplant and tomato sauce - three of our group ordered and loved it! I had the spicy salsiccia - a perfect balance of spice and flavor...will definitely get it again. Thomas be the area's only Prosecco bar - gotta love that. And the small wine list has enough good and affordable options that will match any item on the menu. Pomalia now offers take out - just order online and pick it up for an easy home meal. It's be great if there was a vegan entree - hopefully that can be added sooner rather than later. Definitely recommend this new local gem!

    Bloody Mary and bread

Service was Great! Tables are very small and packed together. They sat us where when the front door opens the cold air hits you. Definitely wear a warm sweater in the colder months. The food was simply okay. My husband had the chicken parm and it was dry and tasteless. The sauce had zero spices and was a simple red sauce. For an appetizer we had calamari. Overcooked and extremely chewy. Bloody Mary was wonderful yet the margarita I had was small the ice cube was as big as the glass and my second one tasted nothing like the first. I had the eggplant dish. Very small pieces of eggplant with a large amount of sauce so it appeared to be more than it was. I add shrimp which was very tasty and cooked well. This dish all and all was good just very much overpriced for eggplant drowning in Sauce. I don't mind spending money on good food but it was painful to pay for this meal. We will not go back.

A Peroni and warm bread on a chilly day.

We stopped here last night with the kids after having wanted to stop for the longest time…read more(out-of-towners). The staff was very friendly, though there was an hourlong wait for an indoor table (definitely make reservations!) or 10 minutes for outside (which was a little surprising given how many open tables there were). Both the indoor and outdoor spaces were super cool with some really amazing gardens outside in full bloom and then the more darkly lit, warm and cozy, and open concept with a great view of the kitchen team hard at work. I was the only one at the table to get a cocktail, to which I chose the blueberry lemon drop. It was really well balanced with a nice blueberry flavor without being overpowering. My wife got a merlot, which she enjoyed. The kids both enjoyed their chocolate milk and strawberry lemonade. Food wise we started with a caesar salad, which was good but pretty mild in flavor. It could have used a little more parm and either more pop to the dressing or just more of it. My wife got the (gluten free) baked focaccia and the lobster bisque for her dinner. She was melting over the focaccia (which I agree was the flavor bomb though I admit the gf bread was a little gummy - not abnormal for gf bread though and didn't really bother me). The lobster bisque she found equally delicious. I also found it quite tasty though did find it a little thinner on the mouthfeel than maybe normal. My MIL got the mussels that she said were really tasty and we found were locally sourced. I got the short rib. It was a large chunk of extremely tender meat with some absolutely delicious mashed potatoes. The gravy was pretty solid for it though I would have preferred it with a little more beefy flavor than maybe the wine. The carrots were a little disappointing, if I'm being honest. They were cut into vastly different sizes, which led to some majorly uneven cooking and even the smallest pieces were still much too firm - not crunchy but not really tender beyond the first quarter inch or so. It was almost like the were par cooked whole and then chopped up after. Definitely atypical and not really up my alley for carrots. Overall, aside from a couple very minor misses, this place was absolutely a winner and I'm absolutely getting some brick oven pizza next time!

Chitarrucci neri ai frutti di mare (black ink chitarra pasta with seafood), however, was something I really wanted to have again. I was hoping that it would be as great as I remembered ... it was. We started with Cozze alla sambuca. I would not have thought of putting fennel or sambuca with mussels, but it was a good combination. The other players (shallot and herbs) were well balanced too. The Insalata de Cesare was fresh and well dressed, with a generous portion of shaved parmesan. The Chitarrucci was the star, with pasta cooked just right and plenty of mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and clams. If I have to be picky, the calamari may have been slightly over cooked, but I'd order this dish over and over again. (I didn't taste it, but the gentleman at the next table had a beautiful plate of ossobuco, with the osso standing up in the middle of the risotto with a sprig of herb 'planted' in the marrow. He said it was great) If you're anywhere near Boothbay, make a reservation and try Ports of Italy.

We shared a Caesar salad, which was fine, but it was nothing memorable either. We each got our own entrees, which we hadn't been doing because it's usually too much food, and since we were on a road trip, there wasn't much point to requesting doggy bags like we normally would because we wouldn't be able to eat the leftovers. Unfortunately, neither of us finished our meals... they were both tasty, but we ended up leaving food on our plates. I hate wasting food like that. I think we'll return to our one-entree-and-share-it protocol for the remainder of our trip. That seems to be working for us. My chicken dish, Pollo con Funghi, which came with tomatoes, olives and mushrooms in a white wine butter sauce seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano, was tasty, but it was too large a portion for me to finish. There was also some squash, and we had ordered a side of spinach, too. I was very sad to not have taken the remaining food for leftovers. Would've been great. My husband ordered the Ravioli di Astice, which was lobster and ricotta filled ravioli in a prosecco and aurora sauce. Not sure what aurora sauce is, but when I tasted it, the sauce was delicious. My issue with his dish was that the ravioli was severely undercooked, and it was way too chewy... definitely not al dente. They simply didn't cook it long enough, which was a shame because the flavors were excellent. Big miss for an Italian restaurant. I suppose I'd give this place another try if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Boothbay. We definitely would have to agree on one entree between the two of us, though, so we don't waste food.
