This is the closet. Even comes with a small hole in the wall.
    L M.

This place was old and rundown. Their closet was some hooks on the wall with hangers on them. The sink took forever to drain when we simply washed our hands. There were tons of ugly cords hanging from the TV on the wall. There was no breakfast. We paid $130.00 for one night, and no hot tub, no pool. And we had a view of the ugly parking lot, and had to keep curtain closed for privacy. Check in was at 3pm, we showed up at 3:30pm and they had no rooms cleaned yet for us so we had to wonder around town while we waited. I can not understand how anyone could give this place more than one star! And the people who gave it 5 stars are either people that know the owner, or they are not use to leaving their home and staying in hotels. Do yourself a favor and skip the Santa Paula Inn. As a matter of fact skip the whole town all together!

    Huge cockroach

"COCKROACH INFESTATION" Would not recommend staying here; "unless you want hitchhikers, (Cockroaches) going home in your bags!" As this place appears to be a lovely place to stay, I personally just couldn't sleep somewhere, knowing theirs roaches in the bed. Yes, in the bed!! As I turned down my sheets for the evening, I found a huge cockroach; waiting under the sheets. I gathered my belongings and headed to Four Points Hotel, in Ventura. I emailed the owner; and explained to him why I left early. However, I did not get a response back.

Great place to stay! Very clean and friendly staff. Before I arrived I inquired if they could change my reservations from 1queen to 2 double since I had an extra person . At the time I was told they were completely book at a few hours before I arrived I received a message that they had a room with 2 beds as I requested. Beds were so comfy!! This place is also pet friendly! I brought my 2 dachshunds and was charge $10 pet fee which is cheap. It's about 20 miles from Ojai which I didn't mind since they have a few Antique shops near by. The place is super quiet and only has 14 rooms and offers free Continental breakfast & free parking. Nothing fancy but nonetheless good!

    Standard Queen. Firm mattress!

3.5 stars. We needed a place to stay one night for a family function in old Santa Paula. I had the queen of Reseda make our arrangements since she was formerly a SP resident and grew up there. The Glen Tavern was booked, so here's where we ended up. We were warned the only room left was a small one with a queen bed. No! I need my Cal King! It's a charming little hotel just around the corner from Vincent's Cafe on Main street. The Innkeeper was very nice to us and showed us our room. Yes, it was small. I felt like I was as tall as Lebron James in here. The bathroom was small, but had everything a person would need. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yZ-T6GImNRdfemNVs-vLYQ?select=IK41656xalOB1HVyK7YkKg The room had a kitchenette. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yZ-T6GImNRdfemNVs-vLYQ?select=-GDdNSH2YHyE4kfEXx1_kw I like a soft bed. I did not like this bed. Way too firm for me. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yZ-T6GImNRdfemNVs-vLYQ?select=ka8SJWGhEK2GaR_CrcHzGQ I'm sure most people who like a firm mattress would find it perfectly comfortable. I tossed and turned all night in between fighting for real estate with the Queen of Reseda. If you like historic little hotels you're sure to enjoy your stay at the Santa Paula Inn.

My wife, 3 year old son, and I stayed here for a week. We just got home and I could not wait to write a review for this inn. Santa Paula Inn is: Excellent. I've stayed at many inns and hotels over the years and though I have stayed in better, it was not by very much at all. The room was great!!! (Room 17, 2 doubles but room for about 4 more beds) The staff and owners were great. The continental breakfast was great for folks that aren't ready to venture out for their breakfast just yet. And there was a lovely patio to eat outside, as well as a little patio upstairs with a great view of the mountains. The area was peaceful as can be. (We left our windows open to enjoy the breeze and we slept with out disturbances every night.) Just a very pleasurable stay in every way. We WILL stay there again!!!!

I love this peaceful patio out back.

First the good: The owners could not have been friendlier. We had a very late check in, and she made the arrangements over the phone, and gave me her cell number in case I had any problems when I got in. They have bagels, yogurt, pastries and coffee in an adorable breakfast room in the mornings, or you can sit outside on the patio. I love the patio. It was nice in the mornings, a great place to eat a pizza with friends at night, a space for the kids to run around. The rooms are decorated nicely enough. The mattresses are firm, there is a fridge, microwave, and coffee in the rooom. Wi-Fi is free. There is a fan, a/c, and a tv. The bathroom has a colorful painted ceramic sink and a jetted tub. The problems? The bathtub is disgusting. The jets are ringed with actual mold and scum. Someone has cleaned the toilet and sink well enough, but it almost feels like the cleaning staff has cataracts and can't see the dirt on the walls and doors. It is thus throughout, the baseboards are dusty, the walls have marks that should be wiped, there are cobwebs here and there on the beautiful crown molding. I am not a clean freak, either. I probably wouldn't have minded the baseboards, etc. if the tub hadn't grossed me out. The hallway also has an old-house-in-a-humid-climate smell. I've stayed here in the past and not noticed a problem. I'll stay here again, probably, because there aren't many options in Santa Paula. The only thing keeping this review from being a 4 star is an hour with some bleach in the john.

The…read morephone reservation was especially pleasant--friendly, courteous, and the owner/manager answered my questions directly (a hospitality level I haven't experienced in years). Arrival was smooth. The half-circle drive off Mill Street is easy to enter and was open when we arrived. The only tip I'd add is once you get past the front area, head toward the rear parking lot for the best flow. Walking up to the front door is charming--Swiss/German country cottage style with historic character, dark wood tones, and shingle siding (with white end units). The lobby setup is warm and inviting, with great lighting and multiple seating areas where you can relax or have a conversation. Check-in was quick and friendly. The staff explained the room ventilation controls and the split cooling system (new technology). The room stayed very quiet and comfortable--our third-floor room cooled to about 65°F each night. The stairs to the third floor were exactly as expected--no elevator--and they felt well designed with consistent tread depth and height. The hallways also have fun movie posters from the 20-60s, which adds personality. We stayed in Room 301, and it was roomy (about 300 sq ft). The room had a chaise lounge with an ottoman, plus a desk and chair. The bathroom layout is a bit old-school, with the sink just outside the bathroom area inside the bedroom, but it worked fine. There's a small step up (around 1 1/2 inches), and the tub/shower and toilet were comfortable and clean. The shower had plenty of hot water. The bed was a highlight--pillow-top comfort with very soft sheets and comforters. The king pillows were large, soft, and easy to adjust (even though I usually prefer smaller ones, these were great). Overall, the room and property felt quiet. It seemed like most guests were in by around 9:00, and we had a peaceful, restful night's sleep. Also worth noting: there are four EV chargers in the rear parking lot for electric vehicle owners. The restaurant looked amazing and smelled great, though we didn't dine this trip--we're planning to next time we fly into Santa Paula Airport. Finally, Monica, the manager, was wonderful--an absolute pleasure to talk with and genuinely kind. And a special thank-you for the complimentary morning coffee and muffins. Highly recommend for anyone who wants comfort, charm, and quiet peace.

At check-in, we realized our assigned room was near two very barky dogs, and the front desk was kind and accommodating in relocating us to another room. I think it was even a better room. I appreciated their willingness to help. Unfortunately, the room itself felt more worn than charming. The furniture had visible wear and staining, the ceiling showed patched areas and water stains that really needed a fresh coat of paint, and the overall impression was tired rather than historic. A few relatively simple updates would go a long way toward elevating the experience. The bathroom was tight, and it had a small step up that we kept forgetting about, despite the (small) warning sign. The provided toiletries were among the worst I've encountered at a hotel. I had forgotten my own shampoo and soap and planned to use what was provided, but it was SO bad. The tiny disc of soap did not lather. On the positive side, the property felt safe and the room was clean. The lobby had dark wood and a homey feel. But what could have felt like a charming historic inn instead came across as simply old and overdue for some attention. While I appreciated the friendly service, I wouldn't choose to stay here again until I knew they had made some upgrades. From what I hear, this is the nicest place in Santa Paula, so I guess we would stay in nearby Ojai at a similar price point.

We took "Slim" up to Sequoia National Forest and it was the perfect home away from home in the woods. Despite being loaded with gear, the van had a lot of get-up-and-go on the freeway and handled surprisingly well on the twisty mountain roads. The van was basically brand new (lucky us!), and was fully stocked with all the essentials. The bed was super comfy and the house battery never dropped below 85 despite us being parked in a wooded area for most of the trip. We found the 20 gallon fresh water tank was the perfect amount for about 4 days of dishes and misc. But you could definitely stretch that if you're careful. Wade is a gracious host and his service is very responsive. He coordinated with us for pickup and was flexible on the details, and even let us know that we'd left some items in the van.
