We came on a Saturday early afternoon and started at one of their restaurants. The food was amazing, but service was definitely on the slower side. The resort is huge and has so many activities tennis, golf, bike rentals and more. After that, we headed over to the spa and spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool. The vibe was so calm, mostly women just chatting, unwinding, and enjoying each other in this peaceful little paradise. We ordered smoothies poolside and omg...so fresh and refreshing. Service at the spa pool was great, everyone seemed to be working together seamlessly and checking in often without being overbearing. Definitely one of those spots I'd come back to anytime I need a reset from LA.

I have stayed at the resort…read moreseven or eight times and always considered it a special place to celebrate important occasions. Unfortunately, after my recent experience, I do not plan to return. For Father's Day weekend, I booked what I hoped would be a memorable getaway for my husband and me. I prepaid $5,364.45 for a two-night stay in a Deluxe King with a View Room. In addition, I made dinner reservations at the resort's fine dining restaurant, scheduled a golf outing for two because my husband loves golf, and booked a couples massage. I was genuinely looking forward to a special and relaxing weekend. On June 5, I searched for Ojai Valley Inn on Google and called the phone number that appeared online. Unbeknownst to me, I was connected to a third-party reservation company called Hotel Reservations rather than the resort directly. I received a confirmation email that included Ojai Valley Inn's name, a confirmation number, an itinerary number, and proof of payment. After driving nearly three hours from Newport Beach to the resort, I was shocked to learn that Ojai Valley Inn could not locate my reservation. I presented all of my documentation and confirmation details, yet after nearly an hour of waiting, the issue remained unresolved. I contacted Hotel Reservations while standing at the front desk, and they confirmed that a reservation existed in their system. Unfortunately, the third-party company and the hotel were unable to reconcile the discrepancy. What disappointed me most was not the reservation issue itself, but the hotel's response. The front desk associate assisting us was kind, empathetic, mentioned they will have a room available for us, and appeared genuinely committed to finding a solution. However, when the front desk manager, Morgan Giuseponi, became involved, I felt that very little effort was made to accommodate us despite our circumstances. Given our longstanding history with the resort, our prepaid reservation, and the fact that we already had dining, golf, and spa reservations on property, I expected some attempt to help us remain at the resort. Instead, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and were advised to seek accommodations elsewhere. Whether the issue originated with the third-party booking company or elsewhere, I had hoped Ojai Valley Inn would demonstrate the level of hospitality and problem-solving that luxury resorts are known for. Rather than allowing the situation to ruin Father's Day weekend, we chose to stay at Rosewood Miramar Beach instead. Fortunately, the experience there was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and proactive. The contrast in customer care was impossible to ignore. Luxury hospitality is not measured by how a property performs when everything goes according to plan. It is measured by how it responds when something goes wrong. In this case, I left feeling that Ojai Valley Inn was unwilling to help a loyal, repeat guest during a difficult situation. This experience was deeply disappointing and has permanently changed my perception of a resort I once loved. While the reservation issue may not have been entirely the hotel's fault, the lack of effort to find a solution certainly was. For that reason, I will not be returning.

Additionally, the check-in process was notably efficient and friendly, setting a welcoming tone. However, several areas presented challenges during our visit. Firstly, the persistent noise emanating from the downstairs bar was a considerable disturbance, making it difficult to achieve restful sleep throughout the night. Our room offered a partial view of the beach from inside, there's a balcony with chairs to hang out at. We discovered that multiple electrical outlets, particularly those conveniently located at the center and bedside tables, were non-operational, which proved to be a significant inconvenience for charging devices. The air conditioning unit's vent was positioned too close to one of the beds, creating an uneven distribution of cool air and preventing proper circulation across the entire room. It also became apparent that the room's layout, despite being a 2-Queen bed configuration designed for up to four people, felt cramped and better suited for a single King-sized bed, as evidenced by the lack of adequate space and amenities such as only one luggage stand. The bathroom also presented its own set of issues. The bathtub drained remarkably slowly, which was both unhygienic and inconvenient. We also noted the absence of sufficient amenities, with only one hook available for towels or garments, and a semi-transparent door that offered inadequate privacy. Finally, there are the additional costs associated with what we typically consider standard hotel services. The requirement for paid parking, whether the $10/day self-parking option in a dimly-lit adjacent public building or the $18/day valet service, added expenses to our budget. Similarly, the lack of complimentary water bottles and the paid breakfast option, while not uncommon, detracted from the perceived value of the stay.

During breakfast the first morning, there was an older couple, and the wife burned her finger on the waffle maker. She then got pissed and started yelling at her husband because he didn't react the way she thought he should. Then a second couple came in the next morning, and they were fighting too! People seemed to be disturbed by something here. During the second night is when things got interesting. About 1:30 am I was awoken randomly. As I laid there in bed, I could hear some very loud but muffled screaming. It was a man's voice. I sounded like English, but I couldn't understand it, even though I should have been able to. As the screaming and yelling continued, it sounded like a large bowling ball was being thrashed around the room. It rattled the wall as I had my ear pressed up against it trying to figure out what the in the hell was going on. It was pretty scary, and I don't scare easily. It's actually really hard to explain and convey what I heard and felt. This went on and on, as I debated waking up my wife and getting out of there. It was at that point I decided to pray. I said, Jesus, please make whatever that is stop so I know my wife and son will be okay. The very second I ended my prayer, the noise stopped completely. I was really surprised, which led me to believe that may have been a spirit because the prayer ended that nonsense immediately. After a 2 second google search, it was documented many times that this hotel is commonly haunted. And the breakfast is greasy paper like bacon, and sausage. There is a waffle maker though!

It's kind of like a motel six with a little bit cleaner, Carpet. The parking is pretty packed at night. You may want to Uber somewhere if you're going to go into town. The pool area was pretty quiet. I will say, but definitely felt like the hotel had been through the ringer and has not come out of the washing machine I haven't really spent a whole lot of time in Ventura since cannabis has been legalized, and it's unfortunate that you can't open your patio door at night and get fresh air because people are outside smoking pot by the pool While I'm grateful the bed what's clean it basically I going to get here there's no atmosphere at all and the breakfast is free but very limited not that you need that much because you're only a block from the beach and you do you want to take advantage of that I'm a big café Fiorie fan and Hotel is about seven blocks away If you're not in into Bike riding along the ocean, this may not be ideal for you and the rate for Junetenth was just ok I also think it's pretty balls you need to charge $10 for a parking spot when you have to kind of take a hike once the upper level filled up When I booked this hotel, I did not see anywhere on the application. I used about the $25 fee nor did they quote that when I called the day before they just said call after 9 AM. Well, this is becoming a van Gogh situation so I'm going to go find a sewing kit and hopefully I won't have to pay another $25 to put your ear back on lol

There is a table right at the window so you can enjoy dining/reading/sitting with an incredible and private VIEW! This time we got the only accommodation that has TWO rooms-- so it felt like a small apartment without a kitchen! It's extra spacious and allowed everyone to have their privacy. The rooms are SUPER cute! Yes, the furniture is old. Yes, it looks like grandma's house. But from someone who has stayed in luxury resorts most of the time, these charming and timeless rooms have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure if this makes sense, but the ambiance welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel right at home. It truly feels like I came to grandmas house. It feels so familiar and I know for a fact, staying here is healing my inner child each time. We all know the views are absolutely incredible-- I mean... breakfast buffet overlooking the cliffs AND you can watch surfers and dolphins in the distance while you enjoy your food? Can't get better than that. You can go visit the shore during low tide or walk over to the pier that leads to an island! This hotel is tucked away from the city and I absolutely love the seclusion. Although it's right next to the highway, staying here feels like stepping into a peaceful parallel universe-- the world still moves on the other side of the wall, but you're suspended in your own quiet, dreamlike bubble until it's time to return to reality. The service is too notch! She has gone out of her way to accommodate us and never made any request feel like it was too much or an inconvenience.
