Seals on the docks adjacent to the property

Great location in the harbor. Some rooms have a harbor view and the property is super dog friendly. There is a park and nice waterfront walking path adjacent to the property. Free breakfast is always a plus and the staff is friendly. If you're traveling with your pup this is an ideal location to stay.

Moldy Caprisun pack next the headboard on the floor.

This has always been my go to. I work here frequently and I always stay at this hotel. Unfortunately it has gone downhill and I'm so disappointed! I was shocked to find what appeared to be blood stains on the sheets. I asked Housekeeping to please come and change the bedding. They are scheduled to come every other day for light cleaning. I was there for 4 nights and I finally got them to come out the night before I left. I asked every single day and she said she would come and then didn't show up. Thankfully I had 2 Queen beds so I was able to use the other bed. When she finally came (the night before I checked out) she left the dirty bedding on the floor of didn't empty the trash. I couldn't believe she didn't change those gross sheets and left them on the floor!!! She replaced the towels and that's it. I was shocked. The room was filthy!! There was a moldy Capri Sun next to the beds headboard and what appeared to be dog food all over the floor. I hope it was dog food and not some sort of rodent droppings. The AC didn't work properly and anytime I was in the room I didn't feel well. It sent my allergies into overdrive and I don't typically have allergies. I asked the front desk about the changing the room and she very nonchalantly told me I'd have to pay for an upgraded room which I obviously wasn't going to do. I will say the view is beautiful and that is what you're paying for. Upon checkout I told the front desk agent about my experience and she couldn't have cared less. She said she was sorry to hear it and made it very clearly she wasn't interested in what I had to say and was downright rude. I do not recommend this place. It used to be so good but it's filthy and the customer service is terrible :(

Loved, loved, loved this place!!! It was reasonably priced & breakfast was included. We got a room w/ a marina view & it was my most favorite thing about the room!!! Had a deck 2 sit out on as well. Room was spacious, bathroom & shower were great. Had a fridge & a coffee maker. I forgot 2 being toothpaste & I was able 2 ask the front desk 4 some free of charge!!! Service was great!!! And the free breakfast helped start our day!!!! I would stay here again!!!

Hampton Inn is often a budget choice among the Hilton brands but we found this one at the Channel Island Harbor a pleasant destination and a good deal. Room is spacious and clean, albeit simple and no frills. Staff was curious and helpful. Breakfast was complimentary and a great value - one of the best features of this brand. Location is okay - at the harbor but not much ocean view. The walk around the harbor is quite pleasant and there are some decent restaurants around. The Oxnard beach is nearby, about 15-30 minutes walk away and usually less crowded than other beaches along the coast. All and all a good destination for a relaxing and budget friendly stay. And lastly, free parking!

Channel Islands Marina

Great marina views. Clean enough but the walls are thin so bring earplugs in case you have noisy neighbors. We asked way in advance for a third floor room but they ignored our request. The breakfast was terrible and I'm not a picky eater. The fitness center is small but I was lucky nobody was on the one treadmill both times I used it. The blackout curtains work well. The TV drops signal every now and then which I have never seen in any hotel. This is our second trip. The first was great and this one wasn't so bad we would never come again but we have lowered our expectations.

Traumatizingly awful breakfast that used to be great couldn't finish anything it was that bad.

Booked for one night on Saturday and was looking forward to the traditionally solid breakfast that Hampton Hotels offer on Sunday morning. To my horror, even though of course no one cares as long as it's included in the price, the breakfast went from an A to a F. It was so bad that I took down two stars Because the stay is just beautiful in this hotel I love the room and the marina view. There was no bacon. The turkey sausages dumped straight out of the freezer bags visible in prep area are absolutely disgusting (1 bite and spit out) and taste like UFO shit-logs. They used to have cheddar omelets they were not available when asked. Fresh fruit juices? Well at least the sign is still there. They even changed the waffle batter; it's even worse now gets cold and falls apart and unedible garbage. Salsa and shredded cheese to put on your eggs? Even that they cut. Hell there's not even a Thomas English muffin to toast anymore. They have plain bagel and plain bread. Can't believe I'm saying this but Best Western's breakfast trounces this. Their breakfast potatoes were lifeless limp cold and gross didn't even touch. Hell, I'm surprised the scrambled eggs are still yellow. Unless you're an extreme cheapskate there's absolutely no reason to inhale this junk whether it's included or not! Go have a nice breakfast somewhere else. Shame on you guys! You're a Hampton Inn not a Motel 6 . I would gladly pay 10 to $20 extra per room to have a decent breakfast this is pathetically shameful and horrifically traumatizing.

Had to unplug the AC. Didn't respond to the wall unit.
Mark P.

No housekeeping, AC is broken. I checked in and it was humid in the room. It was 60s outside. Turned the AC off at the wall, and opened the slider. AC never turned off. Eventually, I unplugged the AC from the wall outlet. Next morning, I had work meetings until 10 AM, so I put the do not disturb sign on the door. I left by 10:30, put the sign back inside. Returned at 3:30 PM. No housekeeping Trash in the cans, no clean towels. Do not stay at Hampton Inn Marina Oxnard.

Hampton Inn Channel Islands room.

Probably the most unique Hampton Inn that I've ever stayed at. First off, there are two buildings here. The first has the front desk and breakfast area, the second of which you have to walk 60+ feet to reach your room. Building #2 is on the marina, which also has a long sidewalk to get in your exercise or walk the dog. The hotel is located about 6 miles south of Ventura, and seems to be more into the Oxnard area (Channel Islands Harbor). This means that it's away from the major amenities, restaurants and shopping areas. However, close to the causeway area a couple miles or so from the hotel, you'll start seeing familiar chain venues, and some unfamiliar. No issues with the room. The property is well-maintained, and seems to either have been constructed within the last 5 years, or recently renovated. Overall, this location is a fabulous getaway out of the LA area or as a good respite when traveling up or down Highway 101.

Mold in AC Unit

What can I say- For the price, you get what you pay for I guess. The hotel itself is clean however I did notice some mold on the Ac unit... View is great though! Guests have been smoking from their rooms which makes it hard to enjoy the view from your balcony.

Fave hotel in Channel Islands / Oxnard. It's our home away from home. We've literally been here twice in the last month lol. We love the location, the rooms, the views, the customer service at the front desk & the free breakfast lol. Ventura is close by. Santa Barbara is less than an hour away. Ideal for a little romantic get away or a fun family trip. The sunset from our room is divine.

The location was right on the water. It was clean and a quiet spot. I was very happy with the reservation.

They offer surrey rentals to use on the bike path in front of the resort. They have a small but well equipped fitness center. Rooms are not cleaned daily by housekeeping, so don't expect that. The pool is small, but the hot tub is big. We tried to order drinks and food at the pool, but that wasn't available despite having order tags on all the chairs at the pool. They do have a small bar next to the pool, but I didn't venture over there. Towels are at the pool and there is an attendant there who takes your room number when you pick them up. But, they constantly leave and that's a problem as they take your room number when you pick them up! So, I'm hoping I didn't get charged for any towels I returned. On a positive note, the hotel has direct beach access and that was the highlight of our weekend getaway! You can walk directly from the hotel to the sand and you can rent beach at the hotel which is nice. The rest of the hotel, outside of our room was really nice.

We were bummed later to find out the swimming pool was under renovation, but the front desk called their sister property next door so we can use their swimming pool. Then the weather shifted to a colder evening, but luckily the swimming pool was heated. Our evening became even better due to happy hour. My friend and I enjoyed $5 tequila sunrises. The gentleman at the check in desk was more than happy to give us a 2nd floor unit with a kitchenette since it was there mistake. The room was very spacious and the kitchenette was awesome. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy as described in other reviews but we had no issues at all. This establishment is near restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores so you can pretty much get anything you need. I was also very impressed with the Ice Machine, you have to actually use your key card in the machine to get Ice. This is something I wish hotels would do. The "excellent" rating stated is untrue. Our room was like a dingy motel room. We asked for a room away from the construction, instead every morning we woke up to constant beeping from a tractor backing up. Since it is a residential complex. I reserved a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment that comfortably accommodated three of us, and it could easily host a family of six thanks to its spacious layout and a convenient pullout couch downstairs. The amenities exceeded my expectations--shower pressure was excellent, making quick and refreshing showers easy especially if you're a big group. The condo includes utilities for four people, with plenty of towels provided (Thanks Tina). While there's no air conditioning, the ocean breeze just a block away kept the unit comfortably cool throughout our stay. A nice bonus was having a hot tub in each unit, perfect for relaxing evenings. Parking was also straightforward, with one dedicated spot included. A heads-up for warmer months: if you're sensitive to heat, keep in mind that summer temperatures can get quite hot, and the unit might feel warm without A/C. Additionally, because of the communal setup, it can get quite loud--sounds from neighboring units are audible--so don't forget your earplugs if you value quiet. Off-season, this spot is ideal for friends' getaways or a quick romantic escape. Overall, a charming and practical choice that offers great value and a fantastic location near the ocean.

Hospitality is not simply a service offered here--it is the very heart of the culture. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth, welcoming smiles, and a level of kindness that immediately made us feel valued as guests. Every interaction with the staff reflected a sincere commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. It is evident that caring for others is not just part of their job description; it is something they genuinely embrace. We would especially like to recognize and thank Bridgette, who welcomed us upon our arrival. Bridgette went above and beyond to ensure we knew our way to our room, had everything we needed, and felt completely comfortable from the very beginning of our stay. More than that, she made us feel as though we were home for the night rather than simply guests checking into a hotel. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care exemplify what exceptional hospitality should be. Her guest service is truly stellar and deserving of recognition. Beyond the outstanding service, the location is ideal. Hotel San Buena is within walking distance of the heart of the city, providing convenient access to a wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Whether you are looking for casual dining, upscale cuisine, or something in between, the diverse selection of nearby restaurants offers something for every taste and preference. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Rich in historical architecture and character, Hotel San Buena offers a unique experience that blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to another era. The attention to architectural detail, charm, and preservation of the building's history create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and memorable. Perhaps one of the most refreshing aspects of our stay was discovering that the hotel is exactly what it appears to be on its website. In an era where photos can sometimes overpromise, Hotel San Buena exceeds expectations. The beauty, character, cleanliness, and ambiance showcased online are an accurate reflection of the experience guests receive upon arrival. Simply put, it is beautiful. An additional feature we greatly appreciated was the secure, guest-only parking. Knowing that parking was safe, well-maintained, and reserved exclusively for hotel guests provided an added sense of comfort and peace of mind throughout our stay. The team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay. Their attentiveness, positive attitudes, and genuine care create an environment that feels welcoming, personal, and authentic. For anyone searching for accommodations in the area, my husband and I wholeheartedly encourage you to make Hotel San Buena your first choice. Whether traveling for business, leisure, or a special occasion, you will find a property where exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, historic charm, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. In an industry where genuine hospitality can sometimes be difficult to find, Hotel San Buena stands as a shining example of what it means to make guests feel truly welcome.
