I love spas! Who doesn't? Although pricey, the massage and facial was exactly what I needed. This was my first time here, and so I was a bit intrigued. Clean facility, private showers, quality robes and slippers - I hate overly washed, rough robes), relaxing ambiance and free usage of the jacuzzi and steam room! Can I just stay here all day??? I chose the massage that sounded the most relaxing, the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and added the body polish. I can't remember the name of my masseuse, but she wasn't very talkative - which was fine by me. Dunno what it is, but I always end up at a spa running low on sleep. Though not talkative, she was a strong one. She said she was starting off with low pressure which felt medium - again, fine by me! I left feeling fully enlightened and relaxed, my skin soft and glowing. That night I slept like a baby! My facial, left my face smooth and soft but I just did not like having all these products suggested or shall I say forced on me? So I chose not to buy any. Was it good enough to make a regular out of me? Hmm, I guess I'll have to do more research for my next trip... as for now, keep in mind it's worthy of a high 3 star rating! read more

My mom, sister and I spent almost $1000 there. We were all excited to use the amenities and when we got there we were very disappointed having been to other spas. The services that we received were great! No complaints there, but when you spend that kind of money it would be nice to have better amenities to use. The shower products in the women's lounge were like drugstore brand quality and the Jacuzzi was not even built in. The treatment rooms were very nice and the technicians that serviced all of us were all very good. If you are looking for a total spa experience, I would highly recommend passing on this spa because you will be very disappointed. Bought: Groupon 50min massage and one hour facial The spa is nice but with the amenities that they included was the same as the rest of the hotel guests had access to. Upon check in, the girls were friendly, but not your 4 star friendly. I was also asked if I wanted to pay for my gratuity for my massage and facial which was odd to me. Being that it was a groupon, I had to pay 20% of the overall massage which ended up being 86 split between two masseuses. While going into the spa area, I was escorted to wait in the spa lounge which was a decent lounge with no views, sounds of traffic, and fruit and water. Although I arrived at check in time which was 30 minutes prior to 1pm, I was called in 10 minutes after 1pm as I overheard that they forgot to call the people waiting. Aside from that, I was told my massage person was going to be male as I preferred strong pressure. I ended up with a female who asked me what kind of areas I need to work on. I replied I told her everywhere and reminded her that I prefer strong pressure. She stopped me and said "sorry, you asked for a swedish massage and that is from light to medium, if you want heavier pressure, you have to pay for more." I was little dumbfounded at the fact that I just tipped this woman 43 dollars and she couldn't accommodate. Instead, she started the massage so light that I might as well call her a lotion latherer rather than a masseuse. She just rolled lotion on me and concentrated 10 minutes on the top of my head. Make matters worse, she started her massage at 112pm and ended at 148pm... that was about 36 minutes for a 50 minute massage. Then had the audacity to ask me if I was happy with it. I told her it was okay, you could've gone a little harder since I said to. She then asked if I want to schedule with her again, I said no. Off to my facial, Beverly was awesome! She was the only reason I am putting stars on here! After validating my ticket, I went to the parking garage and still had to pay 9 dollars for a 48 dollar parking fee. Not fully validated. I understand that sometimes you are paying for your surroundings to be more upscale, but Mandara's area for the ladies was disappointing. The hot tub/jaccuzzi was broken. There were a lot of ladies so I felt there wasn't enough space in their sauna. They had 3 shower stalls and a small outdoor rinsing area, but it was right next to someone's lounge chair? There were maybe 7 lounge chairs and there was a group of 4 ladies who had a hard time finding chairs together. You could lounge outside the lobby area of the spa, but there are more people walking around. As you are trying to relax, the staff is walking around trying to find their customers to escort out to the massage services area. They were 10 mins past my appointment time by the time they found me. You have to take special elevators down to a dimmed very 'spa' like area reception lobby area. Where they ask you to wait another maybe 5 minutes. They encourage you to drinks and taking a look at their products. My masseuse for my facial was nice, but quite condescending sounding when we discussed my skin problems. Didn't feel like she was considerate, but on that same token, she didn't push the products on me. Then back out to the lobby area to wait for my pedicure which was nothing amazing...could have gotten a better one at other places without the frill. Overall, disappointing and overpriced. read more

I went in for a massage and pedicure. The massage was great, the pedicure, although my technician was sweet, not worth the price... neither was worth the automatic 20% gratuity. The lounge area is OK... BUT, the young woman in there Facetiming with her family is inexcusable! Her yelling into her phone and them yelling back for 20 minutes was just rude. The staff entered the room TWICE and never said anything her! So, I guess in this day and age it is perfectly okay to be RUDE! As if that did not top the rude scale she proceeded to watch a movie on her phone WITHOUT headphones... pretty miserable hour of trying to relax! I went to the spa in hopes of relaxing and unwinding before my flight out. Unfortunately it is chaotic and unorganized at reception and in the locker room. The locker room attendant seemed confused by where half of the locker keys had disappeared to. We were all jammed into the same, small locker area. I sat on the lanai waiting to be taken into my massage but nobody came? Finally 15 minutes past my start time I had to go find the attendant who is very sweet and clearly overwhelmed. There was more but I think you get it. My massage was fine but price ($529 for two 80 min) should've included a relaxing afternoon at the spa which it most definitely did not. read more

I never had a massage by Mandera Spa. This rating is based on customer service over the phone and prices. I was put on hold 2 times for 5 minutes each. I had to hang up both times b/c the attendant never came back. I finally got lucky my 3rd call to them and was given a quote of $376 for a couples massage! hahaahahahaha! I've just spent $2000 for flight and hotel and I am not going to dish out $376 for a massage. One of the better spa's Ive been to. Its one of a few in Waikiki that actually have a jacuzzi in the spa. If you are looking for a great deep tissue massage, they have one of the best staff of massage therapist who can actually give you "deep tissue" treatment. My girlfriends made arrangements at this spa for "Girls' Spa Day". I was eager to read what reviewers thought of this place and despite the lukewarm reviews, I was pleasantly pleased with my experience. The front desk was courteous and efficient. They explained the 20% gratuity that is automatically added to your bill which makes it easier for the patron to relax and enjoy the experience. Gabrielle, our locker room attendant, was welcoming and friendly. She gave a brief tour of the spa facility and pointed out the amenities. My therapist was Kitami and she did a good job with my deep tissue massage. She asked if I had any spots she should concentrate on and promptly began to knead out the knots. After the massage, she showed me the products she used on me and wished me a good day. Pros: The atmosphere was very peaceful, despite the fact that the locker room was a little crowded and the therapy area was one floor below. They provide the necessary toiletries if you want to shower after your treatment, such as shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, disposable brushes, combs and many other goodies. The steam room, dry sauna and jacuzzi were nice additions, especially after a treatment. They have a shower for handicapped people so it's nice that they make their facility accessible. The staff is very friendly. You have access to the facility till 9pm on the same day as your treatment. Cons: The locker room can get crowded if there are more than 5-6 patrons at the lockers at the same time. There are only 4 relaxing chairs outside. The treatment floor is the floor below so you must catch the elevator, located in the lobby area, to go down. My duo massage package with my husband would've been awesome had it not been for the fact that one of their workers began stalking my husband! All throughout our spa day he would turn up in odd places to check on us and ask personal questions. He kind of reminded me of Sanjaya from American Idol. 3-stars is a bit generous for this spot. The services I got were a Pedicure, Lomi-lomi massage and a Brazilian. The massage was not memorable. It wasn't all that. I like medium pressure, but this one did not quite put me to sleep...so it's eh... The lady that did the Brazilian was inexperienced on doing Brazilians...so the ones that I usually get only takes 15mins...this lady took 30...plus she used the hard wax which was more painful. The lady that did the Pedicure was too chatty. The manager walks by and stares at you which was odd. He says hello, but not very personable. Say something else like, "how are you liking your service so far?" Randomly saying hello is just creepy. I purchased some of the products here...the mango coconut and regular coconut was really nice, but expensive!! The ambiance was real nice, and the front house staff were nice too...so now you know why the 3-stars are a bit generous for this spot... read more

I had a really great experience here. So let me start by saying, if you're not staying in Hilton village, then plan extra time to get there, park and figure out your way around. We were only staying down the road in Waikiki, but we have ourselves a 30 minute cushion to get there, and we planned on getting there 30 mins before our appointment; translation, we left at 3 for a 4pm appointment. But it worked! We checked in for our massages, we were groupon customers so we paid our tax and too beforehand (I wonder if they do that for everyone?) it actually made the experience more enjoyable as we were done with the money part at the get go and could just enjoy. So, cost wise, our groupon was $99, and then our tax and tip was $65, so all in all, it was $164 for an 80 minute hot stone massage. I loved every minute of it! I had Allegra, she was amazing. Just the right amount of pressure, worked out some horrible knots in my neck and shoulders which I thought I would be living with forever. The spa is nice, I got time in the hot tub, the sauna and just to relax. I'm sure it must be crazy busy in the summertime and in January, but the spa was roomy. It was perfect! read more

I loved this place because there was hardly anyone here! This was my daughter's first real spa experience, and she was very relaxed & happy. We showed up earlier in the day to use their gym and pool -- which is all on the same floor. I had the Lomi Lomi massage. My daughter had the scrub with a 20 minute massage. Awesome Stuff: 1.) FREE parking validation for 8 hours. 2.) We were able to have our treatments in the same room. This made my daughter more comfortable. 3.) Friendly, warm & personable staff. They even invited us to come back and watch fireworks from the pool. 4.) Clean women's locker room, lounge, showers and pool. 5.) Treatments were both worth the $. Not-So-Awesome Stuff: 1. You pay for your treatments at check in, prior to being serviced. 2.) They AUTOMATICALLY ADD 20% to your bill. For 2 treatments it was $340.00 3.) The lounge area is on a separate floor as the treatment area. So you walk to the elevators passed a lobby-like area where non-spa people are hanging out. A bit awkward. Bottom line: Yes, we'll come back to Mandera Spa. It was a good experience. There were other less cheaper day spas in the area, but because there was hardly anyone here it was very relaxing and comfortable for us. The staff was also so pleasant and friendly. :-) read more

My friend and I decided to have a girls spa day. We chose the Mandara Spa because of it's location. When I got their I checked in and was taken right away to the women's locker room. I waited for my friend and when she got their we were given a tour of the facilities. Because the women's locker room was in renovation, we were actually in the men's locker room. Not something I was expecting. We were then told that we could wait in the lounge area. It wasn't much of a lounge area. We were in the shower area. On the plus side, everyone working their were superb. There was a hostess named Kelsey, she was very friendly. Very welcoming. She really brightens up the spa. While you're waiting they offer you some ice cold water, with some fresh fruit. Then it was time for my massage. When I first saw her I saw a tiny little thing. But boy did she work my aches and pains. She asked me if I had any part of my body that I wanted her to concentrate on. I told her my sciatica on my right side of my body. She went to work and it felt so good to finally have someone taking my aches and pains away. After the massage i felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. I would definitely go back there again. But I think the next time i'll try the shiatsu. They have a full service menu, from massages to manicures. The staff there is really friendly and accomodating. The setting is very relaxing. You are able to use the spa's features the whole day if you wanted. They have a pool, jacuzzi and fitness room. We couldn't use the facilities while we had our spa day, but we would definitely to it the next time. read more

The Mandara Spa is at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which is a pretty awesome, if you like big resorts. I like hotels of all kinds, so it works for me. I went with my friend for her birthday, so it was a special occasion. The spa itself is on a private floor, which is really cool. The service was good, if a bit inpersonal. Everyone was really professional, and said all the right things, but the warm & fuzzies were on vacation. Too bad, because I wanted to feel like I was on vacation too...and that just didn't happen. The massage itself was ok. I was very conscious of the time throughout the whole thing. It was 80 minutes long, but I never completely relaxed. Usually I'll fall asleep at some point, but I didn't this time. I didn't buy any product, and wasn't pressured to do so (good on them). It was, in hindsight, waaaaaaaaay overpriced. I paid $240 (incl $40 tip), and didn't feel like I got my money's worth. The facilities were really nice. The women's area was beautiful and every surface was covered with orchids. There were orchids in the jacuzzi, on the counters, and even in the folds of the towels. That was my favorite thing about the entire experience. You do get to use all the spa facilities and hotel pools all day until 9pm on the day of your spa service. That was a nice beni, but I didn't feel compelled to stay there all day. Ultimately, I have to say that the Mandara Spa is like a gorgeous guy you're excited to date until you realize how boring he is. For the price u pay... There's room for improvement. It was great that they validated for valet parking... So that was awesome. We did the 50 minute couples massage with the hydro tub and added the extra 25 minute foot rub... it was great... They give u robes and slippers... The massages were good... and what a great way to end by soaking in a hot tub with aromatherapy :) then the ladies locker room had some nice amenities so you can shower in comfort by providing hair brushes, tooth brushes,etc... I didn't like the fact they included an automatic 20% gratuity to the check.... Its a bit steep and it unexpected... The ladies locker room, they should have a nice in ground jacuzzi tub to lounge around in... The above ground one just seemed cheesy.... Let me start by saying that I've been coming to this specific Mandara Spa for the last 10 years. In that time frame I've watched both the service and facilities degrade immensely. The only reason I'm back today is because one, I'm finally cashing in a gift card I received for my birthday and two, one of their massage therapists in particular is super awesome! (I really only come back for her!) On to the review - 1. They're currently renovating their front desk so check in is now on the 3rd floor. But like any professionally establishment, there's ONE sign off to the right of the front desk indicating so. 2. I go to check in at the relocated front desk and there are 2 gentlemen hiding behind computers. 1 is obviously hiding to mask his eating while the other takes a call as I approach. I wait patiently for a few minutes, only to be greeted with absolute lack of customer service (in my defense, I have high expectations and I'm under the assumption that if you work in a service based establishment, that you were hired based on your ability to provide an acceptable level of customer service). When the gentleman that took the call finally does acknowledge me, he has a snarky attitude about him. Clearly he's had to repeat the same scripted pitch too many times today as he's quite obviously NOT in the mood to repeat himself. (Hey buddy! Quick note, if you don't like your job, find a new one that's not in the service industry. It's definitely NOT a good match for you!!!) The gentleman proceeds to check me in, utterly disgusted that he has to tell me that payment is taken care of at the end and to have a seat so they can check me in. So I follow his instructions and sit down in the seats in front of the check-in before another kind young lady asks if I've been helped. She must've not hear her co-worker tell me to have a sit and wait. No instructions beyond, just wait. (I honestly should have just walked out at this point, but again, gift card redemption.) After waiting another few minutes another woman surfaces to take me back upstairs to the 4th floor to check into the locker. 3. The locker area/shower facility have been more than a disappointment over the years. Shower heads don't work or leak, the middle shower door doesn't close all the way, and there's hair balled up on the strainer in each of the shower heads. All-in-all the shower facility is less than functional altogether. To top it off, they only offer spa slippers upon request, the locker is not setup with robes as they're hanging from the employee door AND the employees in the locker facility are also less than enthused to be there (is it a trend?) 4. After taking a quick shower, I go back to the 3rd floor to pay my bill. As I walk up to the front desk, the young lady behind the desk quickly puts her phone away. She attempts to bring up my bill on one computer, which was apparently was not working. So she hops over to the next computer, but still seems to have a difficult time processing the gift card and my credit card. She asks the another lady, who appears to be a manager of some sort (I'm guessing since she's wearing regular clothes and not the standard Mandara uniform), she makes some comment about the gift card being from Costco (even though it clearly had the Mandara Spa logo and original purchase receipt attached to it) and then she made a half assed comment about all the gift cards looking the same. In the end, the 2 ladies combined, were able to process my gift card and credit card for the remaining balance. Bottom line, I would NOT recommend this spa! Though I absolutely LOVE the massage therapist I go to, the lack of professionalism from the front desk staff, poor quality locker room and exorbitant costs of spa services are enough to deter me from coming back. read more

I finally set a date to come to Mandara Spa to use my groupon ($99 for $200 worth). I scheduled a facial and a classic pedicure online and the Spa rep responded to me quickly. This was great because I didn't want to wait forever for an open slot (like with other groupon deals that you have to wait months to use because they're booked like crazy from offing the groupon). Upon arrival, there was tons of parking. The Spa itself was easy to find considering the Hilton Hawaiian Village is HUGE! I was greeted as soon as I entered the 4 th floor; paid the remaining balance after the groupon deal was applied+grat (automatically 20%). The women's spa facility had your usual lockers, baths, steam room, sauna, and whirlpool(which was broken-minus one star). Near the front desk was the fitness center and outdoor pool. I had the elemis tri-enzyme facial. Hands down one of the best facials I've ever gotten (I've had a bunch). The esthetician was wonderful. She listened to my skin concerns and alerted me to everything that she did. After she was done, I immediately noticed the difference of my face. The next day and the day after that....WOW, the texture and smoothness of my face was still there. Makeup application was flawless! The pedicure was so-so, nothing special. I would definitely come back for the facial ONLY, although it is VERY pricey, maybe not as often as I would like. read more

First the good points: the nail technician was nice and very professional. The quality of nail polish was great and she did a good job painting my toes. The "fire and ice" leg massage was very good. Another good point is that they validated my valet parking! Now the bad points: the pedicure chairs are actually in the hair salon, so it is EXTREMELY noisy and not relaxing. :-( For my entire appointment I listened to blow dryers blaring and country music blasting. (The entire Taylor Swift CD is not relaxing spa music in my opinion) It's impossible to relax in there. When I made my appointment I specifically asked if the pedicure was done in the spa area or the salon......they reassured me that it was in the spa and it was not. Very disappointed! The front desk staff is unfriendly and not welcoming at all. I felt a little uncomfortable when I checked in and was told to "go sit over there." The biggest surprise though was that pedicure tools were previously used and not sanitized. I was very shocked when Janet picked up an obviously USED nail file and started to file my nails. For a spa of this caliber, they should know better than to used non-sterilized tools to do a pedicure. I didn't mind paying the $85.00, but I did mind not receiving a relaxing environment and un sanitized tools. Where is the manager to allow such a thing? Me and my husband purchased the chocolate exploration couples massage. It was for my 30th bday and we rarely get to do these kinds of things so we were super excited. I requested a man because I like a lot more pressure and they tend to be stronger. My husband likes it softer so requested a female. The female was super nice and friendly. My therapist was a bit shy. They asked us if we had any target areas. My husband said feet and shoulders. I said neck and I like firm pressure. The massage was very mediocre. Very routine. Even tho we asked for target areas the therapist did not focus on them and just moved quickly through it for a full body. My husband was more vocal about what areas he would like but the therapist just continued to move through. Even suggesting he see a doctor about his foot, which was fine but he was asking it to be rubbed but just moved on. My therapist did medium pressure... not focusing on my neck. And it felt very rushed. Def not a massage I would expect from a resort. I've honestly had a better one at massage envy. Even after all that we had the bath included. Which they drew for us before the massage so it was pretty cold when we got in. But we just turned on the hot water and put more in, so not a huge deal. Until half way through our bath a staff memever accidentally walked in on us. It seemed like no one communicated that someone was still in there. I would think at a place like this they would have a sign on the door or something. But nothing. Overall it just seemed very unprofessional, not organized and rushed. Extremely disappointed. I had two appointments here, an impromptu pedicure for my daughter & I on one day and a body treatment the next. When we checked in for our pedicures, the awesome woman at the counter had let me know about the deals I would have been missing out on since I never ask. Like never ask because I'm super timid when it comes to asking for discounts. 1) kamaaina 2) HGVC owners 3) Discount on another service within so many days...anyways I really need to start speaking up. The pedicures: After walking to & from Ala Moana (not that far about a mile), this appt was a welcome treat. The nail techs that helped us were really good. My daughter has sensitive feet & she enjoyed this pedicure. They were friendly. We left with very happy feet. The body treatment: Elemis Seaweed massage with a foot treatment add-on. After checking in I am escorted to the locker room where I can change into a soft fluffy robe. Attached to the locker room is an area with showers, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, & lounge chairs which you get access to for the entire day. As a newbie to spa treatments, I didn't know what I should wear as far as undergarments go...to wear or not to wear...? Well if you want, there are disposable panty packs & backless bras available for you. I was 30 minutes early so I got cozy on a lounge chair & relaxed with my new book. When it was my time to go, I was brought down to the treatment rooms. It's relaxing atmosphere helped me get in the right mindset & mood for my wrap & massage. Everything about it was amazing! I dont even think I can explain it it felt so relaxing. I think I may have even nodded off for a bit lol! My therapist was nice & kept me informed about what products she was using & the benefits. But for the most part she didn't chat it up which I appreciate because I'm not much of a talker regularly so...I totally recommend coming here for a treatment of even just a massage. Did I mention Kamaaina discount? Now for why I knocked off a star. The salon area is super dated. Like almost run down looking. Tip: dont look up. It's not pretty. 31 YELPS REVIEW CHALLENGE 3/31 I must say I'm impressed with the consistency of Mandaras, this one in the Hilton Kalia Tower is huge compared to the one in Maui, but the atmosphere is similar, really relaxing and therapists and estheticians were very professional. For parking, park in the structure by Kalia tower which is the tower behind Kobe and next to Benihana's (they will validate). Once in, you go to the 3 elevators and hit the spa floor. Check in is a breeze and a host will show you to the locker and spa area, there is also a gym, pool, nail and hair salon on that level (I believe you're allowed to use the pool and gym). Also an array of products and ice water to refresh if there's a wait. In the spa (for the men), there's a sauna, steam room, 2 jacuzzis and ~4 showers. I briefly overlapped with one other patron on my way out, so I practically had the place to my self. Grab your robe and relax and the host will come and get you when your treatment is ready. The treatment rooms are on another level, so it's kind of weird being in a robe taking an elevator, but you get over it and from there, it was pretty standard. Good therapists that're courteous... they're mostly conversational if you'd like to talk, or silent if you don't say anything. I'm told the women's spa is larger, but I can't speak to that side unfortunately... All in all, the experience was awesome and I'd come here again for a couple's pampering or to treat Mom for her birthday. read more

Vacationing while 5 months pregnant definitely called for treating myself to a spa day! My husband and I were celebrating 6 years together, and decided to splurge on the couples Lomi Lomi package. You can pick any 2 massages and turn them into a couples package, but this particular package includes an extra 25 min of "hydrotherapy"...AKA private jacuzzi tub! Check-in is at the Kalia tower on the 4th floor. It's recommended that you check-in 15-30 mins prior to your appointment to allow time to fill out any necessary paperwork (allergies, skin concerns, etc), get your locker key, and change into your rube and slippers. The actual treatment rooms are on the 2nd floor. Once you're checked in and changed, the spa assistant will call your name from an airy deck of the spa and walk you to the treatment areas where you'll wait a little longer for your treatment.Purchase of spa treatments gives you full all-day access to the spa amenities - sauna, hot tub, locker room, steam rooms. My husband and I met up in the waiting area and were called to our private treatment room. As mine was a prenatal massage, I was really impressed at how attentive my therapist was in making sure that I was comfortable. She surrounded me in fluffy pillows and worked my aching back and feet putting me in total bliss. My husband enjoyed his massage so much, that he actually admitted to drooling a little bit on the floor lol. After our 50 minute massages, we were left in private to enjoy the warm bath in a double jacuzzi tub in the adjoining room. So romantic! Candles, orchid petals scattered, hot tea and cold water as well. We absolutely loved it! We will definitely make sure to book another massage when we're back next year. My only wish, is that the Kalia pool was adults only and had a food/beverage station. This pool tends to be quieter, as most families and guests flock to the Super Pool and the Paradise Pool. Those pools are ALWAYS packed! And there's the convenience of food and drink options close by. It would be a great benefit for spa guests to enjoy the pool after with a small menu and chilled drinks. So pleased with my experience! I'm 30 and wanted to start a better skin regimen. Staying away from Proactive which was good to me over the years, but I found that it wasn't providing my skin with what it ultimately needed. So, I decided to get a really good facial.. The fabulous kind that would cost you an arm and a leg plus someone else's leg.. My best friend actually told me about the Mandara Spa because she and I have the same skin concerns. (She went to the one in Las Vegas.) When I went on the website I realized they had one at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the Kalia Tower. I called on a Monday and asked to be booked the same day. Must: check-in 20-30mins prior to your appointment. This way you can take advantage of their facility. They have a jacuzzi and steam room in the women's locker room, which The staff encourages you to use after your appointment. Try: Elemis facial treatment. Ask for Julie! She was awesome! I told her that I had moved from Northern California and the humidity hasn't been forgiving to my skin yet. She was very nice and gave me the best facial treatment I've experienced! Maybe: Buy their products after treatment. This is totally up to you. Don't feel obligated but do have an open mind. I wanted to do a complete change in my skincare regimen bought the La Therapie products. Damage: Facial, products, gratuity was close to $300- ; I did feel guilty after, and the month following that I ended up getting a less expensive facial ($80) somewhere else, but it wasn't up to par with the Mandara Spa experience. Just here, Thanksgiving weekend, had my man, Bronson-(THE BESTEST!), an incredible massage, Lomi Lomi. He is intuitive and patient and kind. I wish I could have tipped him more but I have a terminal illness and disability does not allow. The Mandara spa has gone down hill. The day I was there there no running water and I could not be sand free., coming from the beach and we were not warned. I came early to wash up, but no running water, kind of crazy and they made no amends. They did not make any monetary compensation, even though many regulars complained. I would still see Bronson, but I wish Mandara spa would be better to their customers. read more

I loved this place. My boyfriend and I booked a couples spa. The room was complete with a private jacuzzi and shower that was outside. The room itself was clean and free of clutter. AND there were orchids everywhere!!! I loved all the orchids!!! The actual spa itself wasn't bad either. The guy got all the knots out of my back and massaged my leg muscles that were sore from hiking up Diamond Head. Staff was very friendly. I wanted to purchase the Mandara spa - mango coconut lotion but it was sold out. So sad. Also, if you have a village experience card with the Hilton you receive 20% off all spa services. read more

First off, if I was only reviewing the actual treatment, treatment room, and staff then I would have given it a five. The staff was attentive in the waiting rooms and the person who performed my wrap and massage was awesome (I'm really sorry I can't remember her name). She used just the right pressure and and was pleasant but not chatty. I loved having the shower right there on the lanai to wash off from the wrap and I really wish I would have known the tubs where there too so I could have added in a soak! I would have tipped 20% anyways for this service so I didn't mind them adding in the gratuity up front. The reason for the down grade was because of the women's spa facility. Really I'd give it two stars at best. One of the reasons I like going to spas is to take some time and enjoy what the facility has to offer. There was only a small fruit bowl at the front desk, no other types of snacks. The back had lemon-water available (and I think juice) but there was no tea, coffee, bottled water, or any other beverages available. There was only one seating area and that had about six seats so I had to wait until a small group had left before I could sit down. The facility had a small steam room and a small dry sauna, but it had the most uncomfortable whirlpool I have ever had the misfortune to be in. Let's talk about the whirlpool. First off, it was elevated so you had to walk up stairs to get to it and it looked like it would be nice and deep but it fools you. The seats are situated in such a way as that your upper body is out of the water from about your waist up if you sit normally on the bench. If you want to have the water up to your shoulders, you need to scoot off the bench and hold yourself off the the floor with your feet so you don't float up. Which brings me to the next point, there were only three jets in the whole of the pool. They were by the bench seats only so that if you wanted to get a nice jet massage on your shoulder you were out of luck. That whirlpool just made me angry. All in all, if I hadn't of had a Travelzoo voucher to cut the cost almost in half, I would have certainly felt cheated on the amenities portion of the spa. read more

I want to preface this by qualifying that we had massages at the SpaHelekulani a few days before our experience at Mandara, so we were a little spoiled with the best. I agree with reviewers who talk about the weird corporateness of this facility. The lobby where you wait is very generic and public, the changing area feels a lot less private than it should, and then they make you walk out in the lobby in your robe to take the elevator to another floor for your treatment, while waiting in a dark co-ed waiting area. I booked a massage (I think the balinese something) and ended up with a tired, sick masseuse who did not do a very good job and kept sniffing her nose and coughing during my treatment (yuck!!). It was the end of the day, but she was TIRED and her hair was all greasy which didn't add to the ambience. While I was waiting in the lobby I had just seen her finish with her previous client, and watched the selling spiel where she did encourage the client to buy products (she didn't pressure me at all). It wasn't just my masseuse... the waiting area and locker/ jacuzzi area seemed tired too. I could tell they were going for something with the decor, but it was like bad 80s tiki or something and didn't feel cohesive or zen at all. The whole place was a weird mix of discontinuity and threadbare corporate. My number one beef with Mandara is the linens. The bathrobe felt new, but not in a good way. New in a scratchy, starchy way. The worst part was the linens on the massage bed -- the linens covering the circular head rest thing felt like overstarched dinner napkins - not comfortable AT ALL. And they made me put my face in there!! There has to be a balance between new and clean, and soft for a spa. Overpriced, lack of cohesion in experience, and bad masseuse all combined to make this experience less than favorable for me. Two stars because I actually had time to get a massage. read more

I had a great time at the Mandara spa yesterday. As part of birthday gift my friend and I came here for a couple of massages. I got the deep tissue massage for 50 minutes. It was wonderful. My masseuse was professional, kind, and catered to my needs. She asked me which areas were bothering me the most and massaged those area longer. I will defiantly be back. Things you should know if you're interested in booking a spa day here is that all though this spa is pricy it comes with some extras that help to make your day more enjoyable. First of all they offer free valet if your visiting the spa!! Even if you only decide to only get a massage you can hang out all day at the pool or relax in the jacuzzi. How AWESOME!!! The ladies lounge has lots of traffic noise. It's outdated but the lady in there knows how to be hospitable which is more than I can say about the front desk. They are not warm or welcoming and they don't know their computer system. I hated leaving the ladies lounge after showering and only in a robe to exit out to a lobby, down an elevator, and out to another waiting area with men in robes. I was really uncomfortable. I had the deep cleansing facial. I really liked my esthetician but it was a waste of money. It took me nearly 15 min just to pay and check out. read more

My friend had a wedding in Hawaii and we all got our nails done at the spa. If I'm paying seventy dollars for a shellac manicure I at least expect the full service. But no. She shaped my nails and painted them and rubbed some lotion on my hands. No cuticle treatment at all. Also when picking out nail polish colors she would tell us that some of the colors we picked were just ugly which I thought was rude since we are the ones choosing them.. The no chip lasted but there were tiny bubbles/holes on most of them meaning she didn't really do a great job applying it which kinda sucks since gratuity is already included. The spa portion was nice even though I barely got to use it. The vanity portion was stocked full of goodies, anything you could possibly need. But the locker room is pretty small so it can get cramped sometimes. read more

I purchased the groupon for a package. The day of the reservation , I noticed that the groupon actually expired the previous day. We had a misunderstanding in the "fine print" also. With that all said, The manager on duty at the time, Samantha, found a way to take care of it. We didn't get the whole package but she was able to work out something that worked. When we arrived, everything was excellent. Greeted warmly. The men's locker area was missing the slippers and some towels but when asked for they were supplied right away. Not entirely sure what Paola G. is talking about. I've been to Mandara Spa on multiple occasions and Alison was great help with scheduling and was very customer friendly. There were instances when I arrived at Mandara that other customers were upset due to price. However anyone that is somewhat intellectual and uses Groupon, knows to read the fine print. Clearly Paola isn't one of those. Mandara is a great place and Alison was extremely helpful. Hope this helps others in the future. read more

I would give 4 stars but it's pretty damn expensive. I got the Balinese body scrub with massage and added on the frangipani hair and scalp treatment and foot treatment. It was a very good but the add ons don't add time to your treatment they actually take away from it. One thing like is that you can hang out and use the pool, jacuzzi etc all day so it's good if you have a lot of time to spend there and get your money's worth. Maybe next time I'm free will get a facial and stay all day. Hopefully they will have better magazines in the ladies lounge by then or bring your own read more

I would love to give this spa more stars but, the price really is a little too much for what you get. I expected more than just a hot tub and a sauna in the women's common area. For a hotel as large and as nice as the Hilton Hawaiian Village I just expected a bit more. However, the actual service was really good! I had a Swedish massage and a facial. The massage was nothing special, but it wasn't bad. The facial however, was absolutely amazing! The esthetician really knew what she was doing and she was also really friendly. The main reason I went in for the facial was to see what changes I could make to my skin care regime. She really helped me out, with honest answers! She did not try and sell me the the product lines they had there, but really tried to help me find what I wanted. Overall this spa is good, but it could be a lot better! read more

I recommend this Spa! Mandara Spa provided a luxurious experience from start to finish. The massage was EXCELLENT. There were several places to relax, including outdoor pool deck or partially covered lounge chairs in the women's spa area. There is a dry sauna, steam sauna and jet-tub in the women's lounge area. My only complaint is the steam sauna...it is not on continuously, so it is pretty much ineffective when you have to push the button yourself. Amenities: small two sink vanity with hair and face products. One perks with a service is all-day access to outdoor pool deck and gym. You can make a day out of one massage service at Mandara. Spa also validates parking, so no need to worry how long you will be. Located in the heart of Hilton Hawaiian Village, so you can shop, eat, relax, repeat, and end on a massage or service of your choice! read more
