They get 1 stars because they are polite & friendly. There is nothing authentic about the food. Another reviewer compared the food to the Chinese food of the 70's when they made everything bland to suit Americans who boiled veges to their death. I got MuShu which has no taste but salt. Mopu tofu is not in a beautiful red Szechuan sauce that lights up your mouth. Nothing pocked about tofu because it didn't stew in any beautiful red Szechuan sauce. It actually was a brown watery non-spicy sauce that tasted the same as the MuShu. The two items cost me $25, not worth it. To add insult to injury when you enter the building it is dark & cheesy & smells like a nightclub from the 70's. read more

Having come here as a child I'm blown away as an adult to realize how truly expensive their menu is. The kid and me still likes the appetizers best, their famous appetizer platter and family dinners. The roast duck really good too. Moo shu chicken is great. It comes already wrapped which I don't care for. Just ask and they won't it if you prefer. Not a fan of the egg foo young at all. Been buying Chinese food from this restaurant for years, it is always been really good. Just bought takeout, got home opened up the boxes and the smell was unbearable. Had my wife and kids take it back and asked for a total refund. I don't know who cooked it there but I need to fire him. If this keeps up we won't have a good Chinese place on the mountain. Great food and excellent service. We came in after a cold and foggy morning of hiking feeling hungry and cold. Upon entering the restaurant the host greeted us with friendliness and immediately made us feel at home. We ordered a beer noodle soup which wasn't on the menu and has great flavor. We ordered two Szechuan dishes, ma po tofu and shredded pork and they tasted authentic to my taste buds (my family hails from the Szechuan area and I've had my share). In Blue Jay, CA a traditional Chinese place. Good menu selection and friendly service. I egg flower soup, green onion pancakes with spicy brisket, OMG those were good, and honey walnut shrimp. The honey walnut shrimp was good but heavier on the sweet mayonnaise sauce than I am used too so the walnuts weren't as crispy as they could have been.
