I think it took 10 minutes to get water, 10 minutes to find someone to get our order in, and then 20-30 minutes until our food came out. Definitely a very slow paced restaurant - come if you're not in a hurry and in a chill mood. We actually came here because all the other restaurants we wanted to try had a 2+ hour long wait and Sunsets was only about 30 minutes. I don't leave negative reviews lightly, but this was, without question, one of the worst restaurant experiences our family has ever had. The evening started with our reservation being "lost." In hindsight, we should have taken that as our cue to leave. Instead, we stayed, and unfortunately everything went downhill from there. Service was painfully slow. It took approximately 45 minutes just to receive water, over an hour for our drinks, and nearly two hours before our food arrived. By the time dinner finally came, we were beyond hungry. The food was even more disappointing than the wait. The "grilled cheese" looked like it was made with individually wrapped processed American cheese slices--and somehow, after nearly two hours, the cheese wasn't even melted. I ordered the branzino expecting a delicate, flaky white fish with lemon. Instead, it arrived so overcooked and dry that lifting it with a fork brought up the entire fish in one piece. It had the texture of fish jerky. The zucchini alongside it was cold and had the unmistakable texture of previously frozen vegetables. My son ordered the mahi-mahi tacos. They were bland, dry, and overcooked. He's the least picky eater in our family and wouldn't eat them. Ironically, the only edible dish on the table was my husband's Huli Huli chicken--which the rest of us ended up sharing because we'd waited so long and were starving. Our server was kind, but we saw her only a handful of times during what became a two-and-a-half-hour dinner. To make matters worse, I woke up in the middle of the night with an upset stomach after eating only a couple bites of the fish. Given our experience, I genuinely struggle to reconcile it with so many glowing reviews. Save yourself the time, the money, and the frustration. Let's just say I had expectations heading into this restaurant given previous reviews and word of mouth. Unfortunately we left feeling very underwhelmed. We ordered the Pupu Platter which came with only one conglomerate piece of tempura when reportedly we were supposed to get 4 separate pieces. The coconut shrimp was raw as seen in the photo. Fortunately they replaced this with another platter of coconut shrimp. The shrimp and mahi mahi tacos were great as was the mushroom ravioli. However the NY strip (which came recommended) had an uneven cook as seen in the photo which looks as if they did not let the steak come to room temperature before cooking. Also was very Underseasoned with a bland taste. The mashed potatoes (also pictured) was bland as well without a creamy texture as expected of mashed potatoes. No complaints about service. Would like to think maybe we caught them on an off day since it was Memorial Day weekend but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. First time there,was a little lost for the busiest Saturday night the two young hosts were super accommodative but the highlight was the bartender Ozzie! He made an absolute refreshing drinks while he watches all the guests and very attentive to all their needs,me included. The Huli Huli Chicken and Dole Whip are two of our favorites, and there's always such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. My friend found Sunsets on Yelp and it really stood out to us, so we decided to try! Very happy with how everything went :) Staff were so pleasant, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we stepped in! Our hostess was wearing a very cute Christmas hat, and she said she wanted to spread the holiday spirit! The beef patty was cooked exactly to our liking, and my friend devoured the macaroni salad he chose as the side. The non-alcoholic Thai iced teas were delicious and innovative, we've never tried it with orange slices but it works so well! We did notice the drinks were about 80% ice though... I met the nicest, happiest woman in the restroom, and she recommended the sticky wings!! And the table next to us kept ordering more food (seriously, the menu was amazing) which they laughed about with their waiter LOL The decor was festive and inviting. This place is relatively new to the village so had to give it a try. So glad we did. Went with some old friends for dinner on a Monday night. It was a slow, wintery day, and we were greeted with a warm welcome and immediately seated at a window with a lovely view of the lake. Decor is fun, with a slightly kitschy island vibe. We started with some cocktails, which were strong and tasty. For mains, I got the ribeye, cooked a perfect medium, as I requested. Wife got the Mahi Mahi tacos. The Vegan Kahlua bowl (or possibly more accurately the vegan version of the pork kahlua bowl) is fantastic. I meant to take a pic but I gobbled it down again. I'll try to take one next time I get it. There are not a ton of vegan options in Lake Arrowhead, but I appreciate the restaurants that put some real effort into making their vegan options taste great. The watermelon margarita has a little kick prompting you to lick your lips. I had the dole whip with a double dose of rum. Boy does that do the job on a hot day. We split the Hawaiian burger and fries. The fries could have been a little crisper but the burger was tasty, bursting with juices.. As we were setting, we had a chance to meet Marina, one of the owners. She too was extremely friendly and gave great perspective on Arrowhead, the restaurant, and future plans as well as pink pineapples. They kindly gave me a piece to try, which was less sour and a bit sweeter than a traditional pineapple. Overall, highly recommend and will return. Dined here last year and had a pleasant time so decided to come back for our last night stay. Inside was festive with holiday decor. We were greeted quickly and sat right away. Nice options on the food and drinks menu. Daughter selected the salmon, hubby chose the pork bowl and I shared a burger with my son. Drinks came out quick as well as the food. Burger was good and juicy. Had a tasting of daughter's and hubs plate which I found both okay. My husband's coconut rice was very moist and strong coconut tasting. I prefer it a little more drier. I was so impressed tonight! I'm on a special diet, so there's not much I can eat. I asked for the mashed potatoes thinking they might be bland, but at least I can eat it. There were 4 of us in our party. They brought melted butter to add to my potatoes-- and these ended up being the best I've ever had. No lie. And the virgin pino colada was delicious. Got the coconut shrimp and the NY steak per the waiter's recommendation and it was probably the worst meal I've ever had. The shrimp was completely raw inside a perfectly fried outer covering, which was a first. The steak tasted like it was taken straight from the freezer and cooked as fast as possible. It was served with mashed potatoes, but tasted like nothing was added to it (no milk, butter, seasoning, etc). My husband got the shrimp tacos and even those shrimp were not properly cooked either. It was also served with sliced kalamata olives, capers and toppings more fitting for lox than an Ahi platter. (No wasabi, ginger, ponzu or soy.) The pupu platter for two. Ragoon was overdone and tasteless. (No dip either.) Coconut Shrimp was okay, but the mango chutney it rested upon had an overpowering cinnamon flavor. Chicken wings were undercooked and slightly pinkish inside. Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese were wonderful. I think if I had a drink, or been with a large group, I would not have been so focused on the nuances of the food. Came here with friends for brunch. Restaurant is tucked in the back of the Lake Arrowhead Village. Come early to find parking. Food was delicious! We had the lox and brioche, chicken and veggies omelette with potatoes and mahi mahi tacos. The small pretty edible orchid on top of our dishes was a nice and beautiful touch. We had an excellent meal here while listening to good music on a Friday night with a great server and overlooking the lake! Our server was very sweet and we asked her lots of questions. We wanted to try two top dishes, so we split the Huli huli chicken ($23) and the island burger with pineapple ($19). The Huli huli chicken comes on a plate and is marinated for 24 hours and pretty much falls off the bone tender, comes with decadent coconut rice, marinated zucchini and it was all delicious. So so good and an a pretty big portion (we did not leave hungry). The island burger has teriyaki, cheese, grilled pineapple and is made from wagyu beef. Whoa! So tender and juicy. The only thing is I would have rather more pineapple and should have asked for another slice cuz I wanted more of it, but it was sure tasty as is. Burger also comes with either fries or we got the awesome macaroni salad for the side, which we both said was some of the best we have had. For dessert we topped off this fantastic meal with pineapple upside down cake. It was served warm and it was good but no showstopper. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience here. We arrived around 6:00 PM and were told the wait would be about an hour. When we checked back around 7:10 PM, someone in our group was told another 20 minutes. After waiting the 20 minutes, we checked again and were suddenly told another 30-45 minutes. When we questioned why the wait time had changed again, they seated us shortly after, around 7:45 PM. We then waited nearly TWO HOURS for our food and didn't receive it until almost 9:45 PM, just 15 minutes before closing. Our group had 4 adults, 2 children, and 2 infants, so by that point the kids were starving and everyone was exhausted. The restaurant had practically cleared out, and our waiter even told us they were no longer taking any more orders, yet our food still took forever. The service from our waiter was also horrible, with very little communication throughout the entire wait, and she didn't refill anyone's drink at the table even once or offer to do so. The food itself was decent, but definitely not worth the experience. The manager gave us 20% off because of the excessive wait, but then we were charged a large-party fee, which basically defeated the purpose of the discount. Nearly two hours from when we sat down to finally receiving our food is completely unacceptable, especially with young children and infants. We would not return. read more

Wish I could give it 0 stars - the food here is not good at all and it took over 1.5 hours for our groups' food to come. The waiter barely came over to check on us so we couldn't add anything to our order after the first time she came. 3 people in our group ordered steak, medium rare but 2 came out well done. The waiter then asked for it to be redone and it came out rare the second time. It was barely edible and we had to get other food elsewhere for the 2 people in our group. The manager was nice though and helped us remove the 2 bad steaks from the check which was appreciated. What a disappointment. We got called at 8:34, seated inside instead of the patio which i requested, which is fine, its late and just wanted my family to have a nice dinner. So the waiting time just to get in was an hour or so, and on top of that another hour for food. More upsetting aside from the wait was seeing people who came after our party being served with food, leaving the bar , with my family still waiting for food and this is already 10 minutes to closing, almost 10 pm. We tried to be understanding but it was upsetting to see people who have a bigger party than us and came after us get served with their food and with my family still waiting on our orders. We end up telling the server that we will just take our food to go since there's no point of waiting. The food is not even stellar, adding to my frustration. A waste of our time.
