Beef chow fun
Paul M.

Great little hidden gem tucked away in a Brooklyn Park strip mall. Easy to find right off 85th and plenty of parking. Inside was clean with plenty of tables and booths. You know a legit asian restaurant when they have a table of just grab and go bahn mi sandwiches, fresh spring roll, drinks and things that I didn't know what they were unless you are vietnamese! Everything looked delicious. Service was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. Family run restaurant that has been open for over 20 years. Order: Garlic chicken wings. Sweet savory glaze that were perfectly fried, crispy and juicy. Beef chow fun. The flavor was tremendous. The flame grilled taste from the scorching hot wok during stir fry mixed with the sauce, noodles and tender beef made each bite cravable. The onions added a nice crunch and texture. Bun bo hue aka the spicy cousin of pho. Delicious meaty broth mixed with tender beef chunks. Add fresh been sprouts and shaved cabbage for a nice texture and crunch. Overall: Great experience. Definitely will be back to try more Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.

I went to meet my friend for lunch. I used to come to this restaurant for years, but have not been back since we moved. This is one of my family favorite pho restaurant. Just in luck, my friend was craving for pho. Service is always great, I remember the servers there. Restaurant is always clean but busy. Full Vietnamese menu, everything is delicious.

Did a quick lunch date at Mandarin in Brooklyn Park! Used to go here frequently years ago and it had been a while. I've always loved their combination plates since you get to try a variety of different dishes with a few extra add ons. Today, we ordered the beef chow fun, fried rice young chow, beef in garlic sauce, and Vietnamese eggrolls. The beef chow fun had a light sauce that coated the noodles and the beef was tender. Unfortunately the eggrolls and fried rice were a miss for me. The eggrolls had an interesting flavor on the inside... I honestly can't even describe it, just didn't taste good? The fried rice had a "charboil" burnt kind of taste that really through the whole dish off. The beef and garlic sauce was okay. Super spicy which I kind of forgot, but overall not a bad dish. I think if you're craving a stir fried dish or pho, this might be your place. The service is always quick so expect to be in and out fast, which is kind of nice.

Orange Chicken Entree

My son and I decided to try somewhere new tonight, and tried this restaurant. We were warmly greeted upon entry and promptly seated. There is seating for around 50 people. It is a quaint restaurant. The menu is huge. The food came quickly and tasted pretty good. The quantities are large enough to fill a big guy like myself. I ordered Seafood Chow Fun. My son ordered the Orange Chicken dinner entree, which also comes with an Egg Role, Fried Rice and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Overall the food was pretty good. We'll come back and try other dishes.

This is our go to restaurant for our family. Food is always consistent, authentic and good. The kids always choose this place when we ask them where to eat. Best cream cheese won ton C1 rice platter with pork (pork tender) Hong Kong steak (the fries with this dish is so good. Wish they let us do an order of just fries only. Bun Bo Hue Pho overall not bad The headed shrimp is pretty good. My favorite all time dessert is here: D1 Che Thai They do try to provide good service. When you have picky kids and they enjoy a place. You just keep going back. Try out these dishes here

Decided to give this place a try even though it is a little far from what I'm used to for Vietnamese food. Almost mistaken this place for mandarin kitchen when my cousins brought it up but they're totally different. This place has both Vietnamese and Chinese food style dishes. Seems like they might have off menu dishes as well so definitely ask if you don't see it on the menu. They do sell snacks and appetizers on the table by the register as well. Not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants have Nuoc Rau ma or pennyworth drink so I liked that here. A little too much ice. They def could make it more flavorful with my leaf blended in my opinion but it was not bad. 3/5 Entrees: we only ordered Vietnamese food so not sure hot the Chinese food is there. Pho- broth was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary or different. Not the best but not the worst. Meat portion was alright. 3/5. Hieu Tieu - both the seafood and nam vang(ground pork version) has the same broth in my opinion. The only difference is one has seafood and one ground pork. Broth was also mediocre. I had to add some chili sauce for more flavor. A little bland for me but not bad. However, I do like that their Hieu Tieu has glass noodles. Not a lot of places offer that. 3/5 Overall, nothing too special here. If I was in the area and was craving Vietnamese food I would stop by but not somewhere that I would drive to go to since there's are other places around my area with same or a little better food. Also. Seems like it's a new trend but it's one of those restaurants that will charge for credit card fee. Business should stop charging consumers for the fee since we are paying for the service already. Businesses paying for credit card fee is part of having a business. So bring cash or be prepared to pay for the fee. 1/5 The service was not bad. Seems busy and not a lot of help. When we got there, it was not busy but almost all the tables needed cleaning up. Maybe everyone came and left at the same time?

So we finally made it to the famed Mandarin to try their Pho. My family has been curious about this place when they ranked number one for pho in the recent Hmong Pages. Well I'm sad to report that while their pho is great, it did not out do number one on our list, 2 Wives Kitchen in East St. Paul. 2 Wives' broth has more depth of character and flavor than Mandarin. It is very obvious. Mandarin is good, but I would rank them slightly below all the mainstays on Eat Street and Frogtown: Pho Tau Bay, Quang, iPho, and Trieu Chau. The meat was all tasty, but for a large the portion was a little small, and I did have to adjust the broth. On top of the food they were short staffed and only had one server for the whole dining room. They had two bus people, but that was not enough on a Sat night. They really needed three servers. Oh well, I'm sorry to say this place absolutely did not live up to the hype.

Spent next 12 hours throwing up, not a joke. All I had was the chicken fried rice, apparently with a side of salmonella!

We ordered: house special wings, Singapore noodles, shrimp egg foo yung, and sweet and sour pork. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were exactly what we were expecting. The sweet and sour sauce is house made and was delicious- we were glad to have ordered extra sauce! And the egg foo yung had a light and tasty brown sauce. The wings were tasty but I wish they had some crisp- they were quite soggy. The cost ended up being a little more than we were expecting, $70 for 3 entrees and an appetizer, but the food was quality and portions were generous. The Singapore noodles were 3 meals worth. Note: they will substitute fried rice for white rice with an entree, but it's a $5 upcharge per entree for a miniature carton of rice.

I think the authentic menu has to be asked for if you go during lunch. Very large space, can fit larger groups of people nicely. I had the Ma Po Tofu, they were able to make it without pork for the vegetarian. Also had the Singapore Noodles. The waitstaff understood we wanted it made vegan and he understood that which makes it easier to order vegan food. Our table had the pork dumplings, beef short rib, and a beef stew with a lot of gelatinous chunks. The food was hot and very good. If you are in the Northern suburbs and are looking for more authentic Chinese food, here is definitely a spot to check out. They also have the robot servers to bring out your food. That was fun to watch! My favorite part was that we got sweet cut fruit align with our check instead of the cookies. That was a unique touch. Plenty of parking as its stand alone building.
