I've been going to Que Viet since I was a young child like 3-4 years old (which is over 30 years). Crazy as it sounds, growing up I ate a lot more than I do now. I used to love the the potatoes in the beef & potatoes, the meaty eggrolls w/ the fish sauce (I miss these so much as I don't eat beef/pork anymore), oyster wings, the best wontons as well as chicken friend rice. My mom loved the egg fu young. I love that over the years the menu has pretty much stayed the same. I've gotten to see a few generations run the place and things have stayed pretty true to what I always remembered growing up. My go to order now that my diet has shifted is wontons & chicken fried rice - add med. spice and no chicken. I know chicken fried rice with no chicken sounds crazy but I don't like the veggies in the veggie rice and I really love the flavor of the chicken fried rice without the chicken. Reheating the rice at times the chicken tends to get a bit rubbery after being reheated so many times and I just don't like it but the flavor is very solid without still. They have some of the best wontons I've ever had. Slight garlic flavor to balance the sweetness of the cream cheese. if I could I would eat an eggroll.. I miss them so much! I mostly order takeout these days but have also dined in a bunch and the staff are very attentive and nice. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ginormous Egg Rolls! My mouth is literally watering while writing this review. The price went up to $11 for 2 but they are absolutely mammoth sized & the best thing you have ever tasted. The sauce they serve with them, HEAVEN SENT (I could drink it, it's that good). Upgrade to the medium size Egg Roll sauce, for sure! Their Cream Cheese Wontons are also huge & so incredibly crunchy. The sweet & sour sauce served with them is DIVINE. Went here right when they opened for lunch. It is a small, cozy building with basic decor. The waitstaff was very attentive and on top of drinks and orders. We got one order of egg rolls to share, they are massive! We each got our own entrees. The portions are big. The only downfall was two of us received our food 5 minutes before the rest. Wow, the Hot and Spicy (Lemongrass) Chicken was much better than last time! Tender boneless skinless thighs (about ten of them) in a rich, spicy sauce and translucent onions blew me away. Fragrant lemongrass and red pepper flakes brought the heat and the meaty thighs are perfect vehicles to absorb the flavors. The Egg Rolls are always spot-on and this time the fish sauce was properly made and so good I drank any leftover sauce. Stop judging me, I was at home! Lol. Normally I would give Que Viet 4 stars. It seems when we order from them after 2:15 pm the food is bland and tasteless. We ordered a spice level of 3 and ended up with no spice or seasoning. When I lived in the Cities Que Viet was my go to place to eat or for take out. Love, love, love all of their food. I moved to Northern MN 6 years ago and haven't had Que Viet since then. But last night my sister brought me egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, and pork lomein. I heated the egg rolls and wontons in the oven and they were as good as eating them fresh at the restaurant. Que Viet has been a staple for my families for 20+ years! I have fond memories of picking up our favorite dishes when I was a kid and all of these years later, it is still one of my favorites. It's one of my favorite booths at the MN state fair and for any other time I'm wanting a delicious meal. Went in for lunch today and ordered the best: chicken fried rice, savory cream cheese wontons, eggrolls, and chicken fingers. Everything was served hot and quickly! For years my wife and I have enjoyed the exceptional pork fried rice at Que Viet restaurant. Today we ordered carry out PF rice and when we got home and dished it out, we were surprised by the bland appearance of the rice and lack of color in the traditional pork. We were hungry and so we just shrugged our shoulders and dived right in. However, the peppery taste and depth of flavor we have become accustomed to simply wasn't there. I didn't want to put this into a review, I wanted to let them know first, but when I went to their website there was no way provided to contact them by email. So, to the cooks at Que Viet, I sincerely hope this experience is a one off and not due to a change in management or the loss of your chef who knows the secret to making what is regarded by many as the best pork fried rice in Minneapolis. I've been coming to this location for years. Today I was so disappointed with what we were given that I won't be back again soon if ever. We ordered their famous egg rolls and could tell that what we received was old that was refried an old grease and given to us as fresh. Additionally, due to their register, not working, they were only accepting cash. That meant that we had to go get cash and then come back for our order. Considering the inconvenience on part of the customer, it would appear they would be willing to provide a discount for the inconvenience. I had to go to two different locations to obtain cash so I wouldn't be assessed a fee. I'm sure they can do better considering how much we have supported their business in our neighborhood. Been in the mood for a nice egg roll, so decided to give this place a try as we were driving through Brooklyn Park. Visited mid-week around lunch time. Placed our take out order in person and told it would be ready in about 15 minutes, and the promptness was superb. Food was hot and delicious. The ladies were welcoming and friendly. A little bit of a discount for paying with cash vs a card. Chicken chow mein was different than I've had before, but taste was delicious. It seemed more like a stir fry. Unfortunately, it did not come with rice like in use to, so not sure if that's normal or if there was forgotten. Lo mein was some of the best I've had. The amount of vegetables and I love the smaller rice noodles. Perfectly seasoned and delicious. Wontons and eggs rolls were great as well. Wontons had like a hint of garlic taste. Eggrolls are beyond huge! Perfectly crisp and yummy. Lots of people were coming in for lunch and picking up their takeout. It's a little bit of a hole in the wall with dim lighting, but also natural lighting. Many tables and booths for seating and a small area to sit at for takeout. Not like it used to be. Tonight was our first time ordering in a couple years. We ordered over the phone for pickup. We were quoted 15 minutes but in total waited 30 minutes for our food. The cream cheese wontons, you get 6, were average and needed more filling. The butterfly shrimp, you get 5, were overcooked and chewy. Egg rolls, you get 2 per order, while their huge they are grease bombs. Fried rice was ok but again everything is so greasy. We paid $43 for those 4 items for pickup. Pork bone in egg roll, size of a pea in two separate egg roll orders within 6 months from same restaurant. Returned to same restaurant with my receipt and the pork bone to show employees. Employee blamed it on their meat supplier. I would think the cook making the egg roll mixture would notice a bone from the other ingredients and remove it. I would think restaurant would contact meat supplier to be aware of inedible object. Or, do they make their own meat mixture, egg roll mixture. Either way, they should be aware of bones in the food they serve and remove this. Wonder how many more times a meat bone has been in the egg roll mixture, since this is my experience twice in six months. Beware. Will not return. read more

The sauce was very thick which for me was different. The lo mien was okay. They were inaccurate on the timing of the food preparation and delivery, and app prices appeared to be $2-3 more than the in-restaurant menu. Food wise, flavor was good on everything we ate. We ordered the egg rolls, special fried rice, special lo mein, and veggie egg roll bun/noodle dish. My favorite was the egg roll, we got two per order and they were large in size, super crispy on the exterior, and juicy and meaty inside. I did wish the bun dish had more fresh herbs and a chicken option. I also didn't like the celery included in the lo mein. We have only ever gotten take out and have ordered online, but the fact that within 5 minutes of placing our order we got a phone call stating that they were out of a few pho garnishes and if we wanted to get something else. Needless to say, I was impressed, the communication and attention to detail from the staff is hard to find. This location is within walking distance of my job and that's a dangerous thing when an eggroll craving hits. It would be really easy to drive right by Que Viet as it's nestled in between a BP and an American Legion, making it a little hard to spot on the road. Firstly, the eggrolls...yes they are amazing and I never get out of the restaurant without ordering them. They are large and stuffed full of veggies and pork. This time around, I ordered the chicken fried rice, which was also tasty. It's a big portion, so plenty of leftovers. The parking lot is always packed at lunchtime so be prepared to wait. With a Vietnamese name, I was expecting to walk into a Viet restaurant but it seemed to have had more Chinese dishes than Viet food. I ordered Saigon Style Chow Mein (mi xao gion) and flavor was good but the noodles aren't as crunchy as they are supposed to be. It's also served with rice, which isn't typical for this dish. Service was nice and quick, staff was friendly, and there is parking but it's easy to miss the restaurant when you drive. This tiny little restaurant is slowly becoming my new favorite Vietnamese joint!! We moved to the Brooklyn Center area about a month ago and my husband stumbled upon this place as we were driving around. He really enjoyed his pho and I loved my shrimp fried rice. It didn't taste greasy, oily, or overly salted with soy sauce. I crave it every now and then and we've done take out as well as door dash pickup and it tastes perfect every time!
