It's probably been a decade or more since I last stepped into a Mandarin location, and normally it wouldn't be my pick, but I'll gladly go if I'm invited. Given some diet restrictions for some in my family, it was easier to just hit up a buffet. This review is just their lunch experience. Let's start with the pros: - I was pleasantly greeted by the staff, and even the manager came to our table personally to ensure that we had a great experience and that we were taken care of. - One of my family members also got a free meal since it was around his birthday. I'm not sure if it's because it's his birthday, but we also had a free family picture taken and printed on the spot and framed as a magnet to take home as a souvenir. - The tacky Chinese decor. Yes it's a pro because it totally matches the aesthetic I'd expect for a chain Chinese buffet. - Great value for all you can eat, especially for lunch. It certainly beats out in price compared to authentic dim sum. There are dim sum items you can choose here. - The Westernized Chinese food is good. Think General Tso's Chicken, chicken wings, noodles, etc. Fried items are good too. Ribs and shrimp. Beef with mushrooms is nice and tender highly recommend. Shrimp and clams are good too. - We went near Chinese New Year and got a red pocket with a little lucky Chinese coin. You can use it in their koi pond in the waiting area or just keep it as a souvenir. - Good variety of desserts to choose from: cakes, ice cream, and fresh waffles. Cons: - Sashimi is not fresh, with chewy fish. I couldn't bring myself to even eat one piece. It's a shame though; probably should just skip the sushi section altogether. - Some of the items are overcooked and dry, including the roast beef, and the baked teriyaki salmon. It's a bit hit and miss with the food, but the appeal is getting to try so many different items, you'll bound to find things you love. Service is overall great, and it's nice that they also offer complimentary birthday meals and souvenirs for guests.

Wow!!! Outside of Disneyland (which probably doesn't count,) this is the best buffet I've had outside of Vegas. Service was extremely attentive, decor was spectacular, selection was good and quality was amazing! If you're visiting the Toronto area, I fully recommend visiting Mandarin. It is definitely an experience and I look forward to coming back :)

Crème Brulee and a Chocolate covered strawberry are my favorite desserts here.

I've been to three Mandarins, and this is so far is the best out of the three. The decor is much more toned down; I can't stand gaudy, over-the-top decor. Food is similar except for the creme brulee YUM! Service is more upbeat and happy, as well as efficient in clearing plates, topping off water glasses and taking pictures for their patrons. What surprised me was that they handed out pre-moistened, scented washcloths before AND after our meal. It's the little details that earn an extra star for this branch.

I really enjoyed Mandarin for the first time in a long time. The service here is outstanding, and for a busy Friday evening you would of thought it would be impossible since its holiday season. The food was very good and quality, no complaints about anything

There was a pretty big variety of dishes: many Caribbean classics but also some rarer ones. Service was not great - they took a while before asking what I wanted to drink. The food was largely delicious, though nothing was labelled so I wasn't sure what many dishes were. The dishes nearer the entrance were better; e.g. fried chicken & spicy chicken. Split pea soup & peanut porridge/soup (if it was porridge it was too thin) were pretty good. At the back, the goat was pretty bony & not so tasty, the rasta pasta & fried vermicelli were ok & the curry vegetables were so so. The buffet was $21.99 plus tax, a 50% price hike from what is presumably 2020's price on the website. It was also rung up as 2 ackee and saltfish because they hadn't updated their system yet, which was rather odd.

The chicken is served on a bed of rice and peas with coleslaw (yumm!) and chicken. I found the jerk chicken was delicious and super flavourful. The stew chicken was drier than the jerk chicken but it was still good. I also believe they put butter in their rice - the rice tastes almost... cheesy? And for my lactose sensitive friends, you might also feel it in your gut! But still an enjoyable dish!

Service was attentive in the dining rooms and friendly by the hostess station. Lunch had enough items to be happy with, but it seemed like they altered the BBQ/Grill station to breakfast foods, like bacon and fried eggs and had a few empty slots where I remember had items previously. Highs: -Black peppered beef cubes very very tender and flavourful - fried noodles on point - tofu pudding dessert had a gingered sugar syrup to drizzle on top Lows: -peking duck seemed more hard instead of crispy skin - fried egg Left the restaurant very stuffed, kids were happy. We were 5 and went for a birthday. We had a reservation but they still made us wait for 15 minutes. They don't have many tables for 5. 95% of the tables are for 2 or 4. Who plans a restaurant that cannot accommodate groups of 5-8? Poor planning. Someone had to sit at the end of the table which means you're encroaching on the table next to you. Our table wasn't set up with plates, glasses, chopsticks or napkins and it took 10 minutes to flag someone down to request. They have staff members walking around, but being located in the back room means fewer people walk there. We chose the full package. You order sushi and meats through an iPad. There's a good selection of sushi and sashimi. I believe they're missing some rolls that are quite standard elsewhere but you can definitely find things. The meat selection is not great. They have beef, pork, chicken (only 2 choices and not great) and shrimp. The meat wasn't all that flavourful as it's not really marinated. Order the beef with garlic and you get a few slices of beef and they throw some garlic on top as they prepare it. If it were marinated it would taste a lot better. They're fast about being out the dishes. The tables are quite small, especially when they stick 5 people that's meant for a table for 4, so don't order too much at once or you will run out of space. They're quite slow with picking up dirty dishes and getting refills of drinks. You can try to flag them down but often they just ignore you. So, sushi was great. Bbq was poor. Service was lacking. Seating was terrible. 3 stars!

We opted for the vegetarian mix-and-match plates, which came with either rice or salad, 5 small sides, and 3 falafels. Most of the items were pretty good, my favourites being the arnabeet (cauliflower), eggplant with chickpeas and tomato-based sauce, bamya (okra), and white cannellini beans salad. The warak enab (also called dolma or stuffed grape vine leaves) was flavourless and had too much ratio-to-grape vine leaves ratio (more rice inside that I'd like). The tabbouleh was way too salty.
