This is one of the best Italian places in Jax, better than Mezza Luna at Jax Beach or Josephine's or Taverna at San Marco. It started off as a food truck in 2016. They don't take reservations so show up when they open or else they get busy. Pear fiocchi is a sweet dish. It was a bit overly sweet to me and wish it was a smaller portion as an appetizer. Shrimp rosato was the highlight for me. It has huge Mayport shrimp with a mixture of Alfredo and red sauce. Limoncello mascarpone is a fluffy lemon sponge cake with mascarpone on top with shaved white chocolate. Was a very balanced dessert. Will be back! read more

I wanted to love it so much! I have been scoping it out for ever, but didn't want to wait in line with small kids. Tonight we got there at 3:45 and got seated at 4 when they opened. We started with the arincini and it was amazing! The goat cheese made it spectacular and the marinara is really amazing. I have always wanted to try the pear fiocchi because everyone raves about it and it is their best seller. But...I was not impressed. The servers seemed to know it needed help. Our server offered me crushed pepper and another server stopped by and offered chili oil and peppers. I got the sense they knew I didn't like it and it needed some flavor. But it was too sweet. Even though it is pear pasta, I assumed the added cheeses and sauce would balance out the flavor but it was way too sweet. Luckily they took it off the ticket and I was able to share lasagne with my husband and that was amazing. Just beware that if you order multiple things, make sure you get different sauces because if jt has red sauce, it will all taste the same. Vary up your flavors. Also we got the chocolate cake and my kids left half the cake on the table. They never leave cake behind. I will also add that my daughter got the child size Sunday Suppa with pink sauce and a meatball and she LOVED it. Catullo's is phenomenal Italian. Probably the best in Jacksonville, if not all north Florida. Catullo's would rival even some of the top Italian restaurants in south Florida. Not only am I quite picky, I'm also Italian, and Catullo's absolutely gets it right. No corners are cut here as everything is made with quality and care. I HIGHLY recommend the lemon mascarpone cake. It is absolutely insanely delicious and reminds me of being back on the Amalfi coast. The meatball appetizer is also something truly special. Last time I went I had the scallop lemon pasta and it was perfect. Everything I've had is so good at Catullo's that merely writing this review is making me hungry! The restaurant is always busy, so show up early, but they treat every party with a personal experience. My sister and I a night away from the kiddos while our husbands had them, so we decided to head over to Catullo's. I was a little nervous going so late (it was around 5:30pm on a Saturday), but luckily when I walked in they had a table for two, so we were seated immediately. The location is cozy. All tables were occupied and the bar was full, too! We were quickly given water and handed menus. I almost never look at their menu because I always get the same thing. After looking at their specials and the menu, my sister and I decided on what we were going to get. Our server was super nice and friendly. We ordered the rice balls for our appetizer. This is always my favorite. Then we both ordered the same entree: pear fiocchi. Our rice balls came out hot. You get two large rice balls to share. I love the creaminess of cheese and the rice, paired with the sauce and the crunch of the breading of the rice balls. They were delicious. Then came out our entrees. I always like to savor my pear fiocchi. The sweet pears paired with the creaminess of the sauce and saltiness of the prosciutto is beyond delicious. They also offer you bread, which reminds me of the Italian bread I get up home in NY. Everything was delicious. We will be back! read more

This was only my second visit to Catullo's. It's been about 4.5 years. The first time the food was very good! I had the Sunday Supper. But this time, it was AMAZING! I had heard about the Pear Fiocchi and decided to give it a try. OH MY WORD! The balance of sweet, savory and salty is just perfect! Wasn't sure if I'd like the mix of Gorgonzola and goat cheese but it really is one of the most delicious Alfredo type sauces I've had. And I really loved that it was not over sauced. The crispy bits of Prosciutto di Parma were the best topping! My hubby and I sat at the bar. He had the clams and being a bit of a clam snob, he really enjoyed his dish! This is a busy little place but worth the wait. It's not crazy loud even though it's a small, intimate, busy restaurant. Mark and Ryan were so attentive and friendly. Such a lovely restaurant (if you can get a table!). Catullo's is one of my husband's favorite restaurants in Jax and for good reason. Their creative and delicious meals always leave a lasting impression and rotating menu keeps us on our toes. Some of our favorites are the arancini and shrimp fra diavalo, which lucky for us has earned a permanent spot on their menu. They do not take reservations and consistently have a wait if you don't arrive early, but allow people to sit outside with a glass of wine while they wait. Our waiter, Ryan, gave us great recommendations on our latest visit and the scallop lemon pasta was incredible. The moment I stepped inside, the room was dimly lit and filled with a heavy, pungent cheese smell that hit like a wall. I'm all for a good stinky cheese, but this was intense enough to distract from the meal before it even started. The scallops and veal arrived looking like they belonged in a magazine spread. Sadly, the flavors didn't follow through. The scallops were tough and dry on the outside, with a passable interior, but they were so underseasoned they didn't bring anything exciting to the plate. They aren't as good as the use to be - nothing special! You wait a long time for Food Truck product that is below the average quality. They focused on opening anther location, which failed. They should have focused on the original Jacksonville location by explaining it or finding a larger location near by. They have lost their flare. Watch your bill. They charge me a processing fee on cash and they up charged one of our entrees. Nothing special for the long wait anymore. Not fine dinning, but priced to make you believe it is. My wife and I came in last night for an early dinner. We were a bit worried about the popularity of the restaurant and the fact we couldn't make a reservation but it wasn't an issue at 5PM. The service was very good. Our water cups stayed full all visit with a half dozen visits by the wait staff. Our server was very attentive and nice. We also found the atmosphere nicer than what I had expected from photos. Lighting was dim by design and there was some music somewhere playing The spiced meatballs with garlic sauce were okay. Ours came out a bit small and a tad too crispy. The sauce was very good though. I ordered the sausage and peppers which were really good. I was a little worried that the portion size would be small, but I found the meal hearty. My wife ordered the pear fiocchi which had a wonderful flavor. She was stuffed. Overall, I found our meal very good. Pricing seems to have increased about 20% over prices listed in the photos, but the quality was very high. Long wait, but it was a Saturday night in a fairly popular restaurant. The service was very attentive, ensuring our glasses were full and we had everything we needed. Definitely one of my favorite Italian spots in Jax! Our server today recommended the scallops with a Calabrian chilli risotto and these were the best scallops I've had in Jacksonville! We also got the arancini with had a layer of goat cheese in it, a very unique taste profile and it tasted delicious! The shrimp rosato was also great! It tastes similar to a vodka sauce. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a date night or a cozy upscale meal with family/friends. Everything from the food to the service is unreal. Some of the best we have ever had.

I recently dined here with my wife, while visiting my son. We are from the north east and are used to great Italian food. Well, I have to say that this restaurant can compete with the best in NYC, New Haven, and Providence or Boston! First and foremost, the service was top notch. The attentiveness and efficiency of our waiter was the best, but to top it off, 2 of the owners each came to the table to check on things. This is something that stands out today. I love it. The atmosphere was comfortable yet refined and the place is very clean. The dim lighting is a point that my wife appreciates in a restaurant setting, but our seats were probably the least lit, (our backs to the front window) and our old eyes needed our phone lights to read the menu, haha. The Arancini was perfect and we loved the marinara. My veal dish was magnificent with it's perfectly cooked, large and very tender cutlet. My wife fully enjoyed the Pappardelle con Vongole nero and I thought it was phenomenal. We can't wait to visit the best Italian restaurant in JAX again, when we return in October. read more

I've been wanting to go back to Catullo's since my birthday dinner four years ago; so, we ventured out on Christmas Eve for dinner. I emailed to confirm they would be open and was pleasantly surprised when I received an immediate reply. This is a very quaint restaurant with limited seating. For anyone who has never been here, please note they do not take reservations so you need to get in line EARLY. Yes, get in line like the soup Seinfeld episode. I mulled over dinner options all day, but when the rubber met the road our server graciously gave me her recommendations and she was spot on. We started with the spicy arancini and followed up with lasagna and ravioli with chicken breasts. We were so stuffed; but gluttony wouldn't be denied. We ordered a cannoli and a slice of lemoncello cake. I can't wait to go back again. There's a risotto calling my name. read more
