If you're looking for traditional Greek & Turkish food - this isn't that. This is a trendy spot that serves Greek inspired items. Everything about the way this restaurant looks makes you believe you're about to have an amazing experience. Unfortunately, appearances are deceiving. To start off, there's no parking or Valet. You must drive around to look for a place to park. The restaurant exterior has a Greek inspired vibe, complete with large trees incorporated in the scenery. There is no roof and the restaurant is roughly 90% outdoors. This might make the look of the restaurant appealing, if it hadn't been raining. We made reservations for my birthday and arrived on time. Made no difference, we were told to wait and we did - a lot! We expected to wait by a bar and have some drinks but they don't have a bar and you have to wait outside the restaurant- where it was raining! We finally receive our table and it's horrible. The table was sandwiched between an enormous tree and huge wooden beams that obstructed views and walkways. Not to mention, a massive staghorn fern hitting us in the face at the table. We were one of the few tables not covered by an umbrella. Making it very stressful because it had just rained. We asked if we could sit somewhere else but they said the restaurant was too full. We asked if the server could bring an umbrella out like the hostess said, but he looked confused and said "they don't have umbrellas, we would just get wet!!" The horrible metal Cafe chairs we had at our table need to be thrown in the trash. They are uncomfortable, cold and small, besides looking cheap. Our server was pleasant but not attentive. He gave us terrible service with a smile. Never offered drink refills. Never offered more wine. Never offered us Pita bread, considering the bread provided was rock hard. We would've paid for pita. We started by ordering a bottle of "fine wine" selected by our server. We received Thevenet & Fils Bourgogne. The wine was disgusting and after researching, we find out it's not a good wine. No help from our server. We also ordered diet coke served in a tiny mini can - never got offered a refill. We continued by ordering the following items: The Turkish sampler.Which includes hummus, tomato & eggplant. Pretty basic. Cheese saganaki - Total disappointment! No fire, no flame, no fun! Even at Opa in Hollywood, or at any Greek festivals, you're able to get your flaming saganaki. Not here. They don't even squeeze the lemon for you. The zucchini chips, battered, fried and served with tzatziki. Very good. The Greek Village salad, was very nice. Ali Nazik ground lamb over smoked eggplant yogurt. Was ok. Oyster Mushroom Lahmacun with urfa pepper is very dry and tasted like it needed a dipping sauce. The Manti Dumplings dish told by our server to be special, were basically a ton of filler yogurt sauce and few Dumplings. The actual dumplings were small and extremely firm, served cold. Not appealing and not very appetizing. For dessert we ordered the honey cake and the chocolate cake. The honey cake was good but the pastry shell was overbaked. We ordered the chocolate cake as well, which was very rich, not sweet. It was missing whipped cream or something to offput the darkness of the chocolate. We asked our server what the olive oil was on the table, he said they sell it inside. They don't! However, they do have an entire section of restaurant indoors that was empty. We could've sat there from the beginning but it's obvious our server didn't want to move us. So what does it say when the best items on their menu is the salad and the zucchini chips - pretty sad. Overall, this place is a farce. Chock full of fake vibes, small, overpriced portions and even worst food. Fake Greek, fake Turkish. I would never go back to Mandolin. I would never recommend. The experience didn't start off great as they made us wait outside for a good 10 minutes and then waited another 10 at the table for our server. This place is super cute and the vibe of it really does take you out of Miami for a moment, also the staff was super amazing Seth was my server and did a great job of helping us choose items! As for the food, it's hard to say. The food is very fresh, but I can't justify the pricing as the portions seem big but are not full of full filling ingredients. I also am not a person who ever adds salt to my food at a restaurant and I felt the need to do so here. I had the tomato salad, the Turkish appetizer, and a glass of wine. Wine was delicious, everything else was ok. It was my first time here and unfortunately I think the restaurant is full of Miami hype. There's a beautiful seating area outdoors with trees and lights overlying. A bit dark at night, so maybe not the best place for a first date if you want to see what your date looks like, but super romantic! We tried a few of the dips which felt very interactive with different veggies. The calamari was tasty. We had the sea bass which we felt was just ok, but the lamb chops were some of the best I've ever had. I would come back for the lamb chops. Service was decent given how busy it was. This place is great. My wife and I first ate here 15 years ago (~early 2011) on one of our first dates and have visited a handful of times over the years. Last night we went with our young son, we had a beautiful time. Christopher, our waiter, definitely made the experience extra special. Something he said sums up how he showed up and our experience, overall: "I love my job. I think it's a lost art." I'd share a beverage or meal with Christopher any time. Special notes: The Whole Mediterranean Sea Bass, Manti Dumplings, Grilled Octopus (one of the most tender I've ever had, and we order this from every menu we see it on), Zucchini Chips were delicious. I'd order them all again and again. The Semolina Honey Custard Pie with fresh strawberries and whipped cream was a great way to cap off the meal. Some of the top items I want to try the next time we go: The lamb chops, grilled half chicken, wood-oven roasted beech mushrooms, and roasted beets. Had lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon. It was hot outside but the shade and fans on the patio made for a comfortable experience. Our server was great, friendly and gave good advice. I came here with a large group for my friend's bachelorette. We were seated in their beautiful large courtyard which provided very intimate ambiance once the sunset. I ordered the Manti Dumplings, which was a very interesting dish; it's beef topped with a lot of yogurt and spices. I enjoyed the dish as I've never had anything like it before. I also had the Baklava for dessert. It was very sweet and delicious! Make sure to make reservations since this restaurant is popular and always crowded. Mandolin is a must try mediterranean spot in Miami! I grew up in Eastern Europe on the coast and the whole menu made me feel right at home. Mandolin has mostly outdoor seating, so be prepared for that in the hot summer months. The decor makes me feel like I'm back a a seaside restaurant courtyard back in Greece. The staff are all super friendly and helpful as well. We started off with the Grilled Octopus and a Spanakopita and both were fantastic. The Octopus was honestly some of the best I've had, so tender, but not mushy. Then between the table we got the Grilled Seabass (Branzino), which was probably the favorite of the night, the grouper filet, a beef souvlaki plate, and a kebob sandwich. Everything was fantastic. All the flavors were great, but not overpowering, everything was cooked to perfection. We then ended with the pistachio Baklava and the Honey cake. The baklava was a hit, the honey cake not so much. It wasn't bad, just not as amazing. Only downsides I'd say would be the lack of parking, and difficulty finding parking nearby, and the prices are high, but not abnormal for Miami. read more

Indeed was an experience. Both dishes were amazing and I cannot wait to go back and try other options. Ambiance 3/5- it's covered outdoor seating, which isn't always the best in South Florida. I want to start of first by thanking the workers who were WORKING HARD the time i was there. I was seated in the outdoor section that had tent coverage and it was pouring outside. The employees were running the entire shift using umbrellas and adjusting the tent to keep customers dry and happy - and still checking in to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. The ambiance of mandolin transports you to Greece, I love the Aegean aesthetic that makes you feel as if you are relaxing on vacation. we started with the watermelon mint spritz (cannot remember the menu name) that was light, fruity, and refreshing. I loved every single dish that we ordered. We tried the special flatbread of the day - fig and feta, so creamy with the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Our second round was the Ali Nazik, the lamb is so flavorful and seasoned well. The beef dumplings were super unique to anything I tried and scrumptious. The chicken kebabs were a classic, simple, and filling served with a side salad, tzaiki and rice pilaf. Finally, because of the rain they gave us a complementary slice of there honey cake. This spot is a go to ... the vibe is fun outdoor seating option in a courtyard decorated with lights and had that Mediterranean feel. The service was good and restaurant was quite busy. They do only have wine options not a full bar. We started with a full bottle of wine as opposed to by the glass wine better deal. They have wine ranges from 50-200. We started with the zucchini chips perfectly crispy with a great fresh dipping sauce. We also ordered the Greek salad which was tomatoes, cucumber , onion , feta and olives. The dressing was good and punchy like Greek salad dressing should be. We also had the hummus very fresh and good. This was served with warm fresh made bread. For meals we opted for beef souvlaki which is much like a gyro. The sandwich was served warm on pita. The French fries were standard frozen which was disappointing would have preferred fresh cut. The mussels were also great with a delicious broth for dipping that fresh bread in. All in all the food is good and you will be full and satisfied. 275.00 was all in price for food and service. The service charge is not added at this location unlike most of the restaurants in Miami. read more

The decor is charming and transports you straight to a seaside village in Greece, which really enhances the overall experience. Service was great! The only real downside is the parking situation. It's pretty frustrating -- there are "No Parking" signs everywhere nearby, and we were directed a few blocks away just to valet. It definitely took away a bit from the convenience, but once you're there, the atmosphere and food make it worth it. The menu had so many items that we wanted to try, but we ended up going with the Ali nazik, which was the smoked lamb over eggplant yogurt, the grilled halloumi, and the manti dumplings. The moussaka is always a hearty, reliable option. The eggplant was a special. It was okay. Reminded me of Christmas. Service is great and the entire restaurant is outside. The only slight annoyance is the sheer amount of flys but it is what it is. The staff noticed and turned one of the fans onto our table which helped. Mandolin has my heart forever. From the delicious food, to the warm service, to the day date/date night vibes that ooze from Mandolin, this has been one of my favorite places to make memories. It's always a good idea to get a bottle of wine, and always a good idea to get literally anything on the menu. My absolute favorites are the roasted beets and the manti dumplings. Perhaps because I'm a self-proclaimed yogurt fiend, these two dishes never fail to give me the savory fix I look for. I recently tried their Alfonsino crudo which was on special, and they paired each tender slice with a piece of lychee. I never knew that I needed this flavor and texture combo in my life. Delightfully drowned in what I believe was olive oil and crushed red pepper, this dish earned a spot in my permanent palate memory . The charm of Mandolin is it's outdoor seating and decor. Have no fear, even on a 94 degree day in Miami, most if not all of the tables are shaded and they have plenty of fans breezing around to make it comfortable. Here's the catch--you must make a reservation here and make it far in advance as the likelihood of getting a table same day, is pretty low. The wait for your reservation will be worth it!
