Called Eli at Manframe after reading numerous positive Yelp reviews. Eli explained he was going on vacation and didn't have time for new clients. So I decided to try the owner Gary or Jerry his partner (who I thought from reviews was an owner). Jerry had the first available time. While cutting my hair, Jerry dropped two combs on the floor. Later Jerry shared that he had had a stroke 3 months prior. Toward the latter part of the haircut I felt a jolt/tug at my hair - Jerry had cut his finger. After stopping the blood and putting on a band-aid, Jerry resumed cutting my hair. He told me he had cut himself the day before and it happens all the time with hairdresser. I wish I had left. Instead, I sat frozen. But now I was watching in the mirror. Jerry's hands were visibly shaking as he cut my hair. After a few moments he said we were out of time, he could not finish cutting my hair, and that I could come back to get the layers I had asked for. I declined the 5pm time, hesitantly paid Jerry, and on my way out told Gary that I was concerned, that he should check on Jerry, he cut himself, and that I did not get the haircut I had asked for. I went back a few days later to ask for a refund as a way of letting Gary and Jerry know that the experience was not ok and that I did not get the haircut I asked for - I had a bob style cut and not long layers with framing around my face. Gary said I had to work it out with Jerry. In short, Jerry walked over, called me an asshole..., and closed the door in my face. read more

I've been going here for over a year because of Eli, he's awesome! I never used to look forward to a haircut, especially because it would come out different every time. Eli truly cares about his clients. He will take the time to understand exactly what you want. Let alone the fact that he's just a genuinely nice person. This place has been right under my nose and I never went there. All these other so called barber shops may come across as hip but the personal touch is always missing. I have been searching for a good barber who is reasonable in price, gives you a good haircut and is personable. Gary is the man. His husband who didn't cut my hair is equally fun to chat with. Seriously, don't go elsewhere. Just ask for Gary. And oh - ask him to share his passion about paragliding. He wouldn't stop talking about it :) He got me hooked. I finally found a great barber/stylist in Eli at Maneframe! Eli not only always asks what you want but then he listens well and follows through with precise execution. He is always on time for appointments and yet takes time to get your cut right and offers details like eye brow trimming and ears too and has never steered me wrong on products too! Maneframe is clean, the price is fair, appointments are not difficult, you get text reminders for appointments and Eli is just a great guy too. Eli at Maneframe is terrific. He colors my hair each month and does a great job. His blow-outs are great, too. They last for 2, sometimes 3 days. He listens to what I want and does exactly that. Jerry and Gary are two of the best guys ever. Great work. My hair is very difficult to cut (stiff, thick, like a block of marble) but Jerry cuts it perfectly every time. I called Mainframe mid afternoon on a Friday and I was able to get an appointment the same day. Sima did such a wonderful job on my hair and took her time to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted. She is such a sweetheart and even gave me a free blow out and straightening for the weekend. I usually get very nervous with haircuts and to be honest its very hard for stylists to get it just right. The only thing harder than finding an apartment in this city is finding a good hairstylist. Eli is not good, but excellent. I have lived in the city for 5 years and tried many places. One of my friends recommended me to Eli and since then I have been a regular customer. I have gotten haircuts from him more times than any other place I have been to in the city and I don't intend to explore any new hair salons anymore. I went here for the first time last week and (despite all the rave reviews on here about Eli) I had Kelly cut my hair. He's there on Sundays and Mondays. It was the best haircut I've gotten in a long time. He was very attentive to what I was looking for, took his time and paid attention to every detail, and obviously takes a lot of pride in his work.
