Just hosted my daughter's graduation luncheon here and am so happy we did. Everything was excellent and my guests are raving about what a beautiful party it was in a fun and unique space. Thank you Stephanie and Mangia Mi for helping us host a perfect party!

My husband and I had dinner here after a day at the Hot Springs. We made reservations online and planned to have dinner here due to the deal running on the InKind app. It was hard to choose what to eat as everything on my new looked delicious. We did think that most of the dishes were overpriced. We live in Marin County and still found this to be quite expensive for Italian food with a very casual ambience. However, everything we ordered was fantastic. My favorite was the peach and burrata salad, which was seasonal. The owner said she buys fresh ingredients at the farmers market each week. I would recommend dinner here if you were not on a budget and also if you are OK with smaller portions for Italian food. It's in a great spot downtown where you can walk to shops, restaurants, hotels, and spas.

We recently moved to Danville and we have been trying restaurants in the downtown area. Mangia Mi is amazing!! The patio is so cute and quaint. Our server Stephanie was excellent. I had the corn and asparagus risotto and I've never had better. I order risotto quite often at restaurants and I can honestly say the risotto tonight was the best. My husband had chicken parmesan and loved it. The portions are large but the food was so good we ate every bite. We will definitely be regulars at Mangia Mi.

I dined here with my mom last Friday night. Despite it being the weekend, there was virtually no wait around 6:30 PM, a pleasant surprise, and the hostess led us to our table almost immediately. Soon after getting seated, our waiter welcomed us with a complimentary bread basket, cups, and a bottle of water. I use the house bread as a litmus test for the quality of an Italian restaurant, and Mangia Mi's is pretty damn good. It's a baguette which comes warm, moist, and crusty: the holy trinity of baguette traits. To share, we had the spinach and butternut squash salad, the seared scallops, and the pasta con vongole. With all due candor, skip the butternut squash salad. The bacon bits came out a tad too burnt making it almost too brittle and difficult to chew. The butternut squash also had a weird marinade rendering it cloyingly sweet and masking its natural sweetness. The main dishes were pretty decent on the other hand. The pasta con vongole, immersed in a white wine sauce, was potent in garlic flavor yet a tad too salty than what I would have preferred. The seared scallops were served on a bed of risotto with corn kernels adorning the top. The corn kernels were an odd addition, adding a needless sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Overall, Mangia Mi was pretty good! Definitely a solid Italian spot for the Danville area.

    Rigatoni alla Carbonara

My family and I had a reasonable meal at Mangia Mi that was unfortunately marred by a pretty subpar experience. We walked in on a Friday evening and figured we'd try our luck without a reservation for a party of five. We felt quite lucky when we were actually able to be seated within a few minutes! They told us we would be seated in their "cottage" area... Unfortunately, this small room was clearly not originally intended to be used as a dining area, as it is very echoey. We were seated next to a loud family and the acoustics of the room made it extremely difficult to simply hold a conversation amongst ourselves. It also lacked any of the ambience of the rest of the restaurant (excessively brightly lit), and our table was right next to the restroom, which was... less than ideal. It took almost 15 minutes for our waiter to get to us (we thought they'd forgotten we'd been seated here). We ordered blood orange and pomegranate martinis, which were pretty tasty. They also brought out bread and dipping oil, which helped satiate us until our entrees. We ordered the rigatoni alla carbonara, lasagna di carne, and the gnocchi gorgonzola. All three entrees were pretty tasty (the lasagna was probably my favorite), and the portion sizes were ideal. The gnocchi was a little overly chewy, but still good. However, I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that a couple of us felt a bit queasy and unsettled when we got back home... The prices are a bit steep, particularly given the middling quality of the food and service. Overall, while the food is pretty decent, the inconsistency of the service, quality of the seating/ambience, and steep prices made this just an average dining experience. I might return if I have a strong craving for Italian, but I'd love to see some of these other issues addressed to elevate the experience.

We were served by the owner and a new waitress. Both were so friendly. The food was outrageously delicious and came out quickly. Best pizza I have had! The fresh pasta is so tasty, we couldn't stop eating it! We chose to eat outside and it was just a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will be back!

On the house birthday treat for my dear dad.

This restaurant does a lot of things so, so right! And a couple of things oh so wrong..... Positive: the food is fantastic. Probably the freshest salmon I've ever had in a restaurant. Everything was delicious, portions were large, and my very picky mother actually liked it! Literally every single dish and appetizer was a hit. A large menu of exciting dishes, probably one of the best restaurants in Danville. Now the negative: Literally the very first bite of thr clam appetizer, crrrrrooonch!!!! I bit into a rock. ‍ I was in pain for five minutes and really scared that I had broken my tooth. Everyone makes mistakes.... Spit it out and kept going. Two clams later, crrrrrroooonch!!!! Another rock.... Not sand, A FREAKING ROCK. On to the seafood pasta. Tasted lovely, very fresh and good portion siz-CRRRRRRRROOOOOONCH!!!! ......another freaking rock. My poor elderly dad quietly told me (on his birthday btw) that he had bit into several rocks and sand as well. We told the waiter (who was excellent) but what can they do?

I was the first to walk in around 4ish in the afternoon (they have happy hour!) and I was offered a seat and water quickly. I decided to order the smoked salmon crudo and the gentleman (I think one of the owners?) gave me some pairing suggestions. While that was getting prepared in the kitchen, he offered me a tasting of another white wine on the house, which was so kind! In the picture below... it's most drunk haha but it was a nice amount to taste and sip on. That smoked salmon crudo is SO GOOD. The citrus adds a nice brightness, and I think there was a hint of honey used in the vinaigrette. I was pleasantly surprised and it's easily the best smoked salmon dish I've had in a while! The wine was excellent as well. I was only in for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half before I moved on, but I got to hear regulars come in and greet the owner like old friends. There's a really cool vibe here, with great music and decor, so I really wished I lived closer to visit more often! As I was leaving, I did chat with the gentleman again (complimented him/the wine bar) and he said he hoped that I would come again as he is trying to work with his partners to add more to the menu (the regulars that came in were asking after the gumbo and the brunch, which they were not serving at the time). I definitely hope to visit again and try those other menu items!

The décor was cohesive--the theme is akin to…read moredark academia with rich paint colors on the walls, animal skulls and of course, tons of books. The seating options were disappointing as the benches along the wall had no cushioning and the couch we selected instead had flat, sinking cushions. The music was too loud for reasonable discussion with my friend, though the server did lower the volume at my request. I had a tasty flight of sparkling wines and the server gave a speedy, short introduction to the pours. My largest disappointment came with the arrival of the check. Despite signage outside the establishment that implied the opposite, I was informed that wine flights were *not* included in happy hour pricing. I found the messaging exceedingly unclear, and of course, there's no mention of happy hour on the menu nor did the server share the happy hour options when we were seated. It was a disheartening end to a midling experience up until that point. It's not that this place is terrible, it's just not that good and in this economy, that is a must. I will not be returning.

Interior is interesting, it's like you're dining at someone's home? Street parking or there are lots nearby with the first hours or so free. Service was good  The Valentines prix consisted of an app, entree, and dessert, some of which are not on their regular menu!!  -bread and marinara (4/5): bread was great, thick slices and nice crust. Marinara was standard -potato-leek puree (4/5): came in a cute little cup to drink out of, good flavor -gamberoni (5/5): prawns were a good size and perfectly grilled. The sauce was a good addition -polette (4/5): meatballs were juicy and the pesto was flavorful and creamy. Interesting thing to have as an appetizer though -fettuccini carne (5/5): I always have an internal struggle about getting a red sauce or a cream sauce, so this was the perfect option as a creamy red sauce pasta. Serving size was good, and there was also plenty of meat and mushrooms, which I loved! Flavor was great! -lamp chop (4/5): good grilled flavor, but one was slightly too raw for our liking so we had to send it back to the kitchen to cook it some more. Our waitress was very understanding though! The mashed potatoes and veggies were also good. -tiramisu (3.5/5): good flavor, but there was wayyy more cream than ladyfinger, so the textural balance was off. And I love cream! -peanut butter chocolate brownie (4/5): really good but also pretty sweet. Loved how thick the whipped cream was, but didn't taste as much peanut butter as I would've liked Overall, I had a great experience for their valentines day prix menu. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service.
