Ra n over to Mangieri' for a quick sandwich. My wife had the baked ham sandwich and i had the meatball sandwich. Both were less than mediocre and we would have been better off going to Thundercloud. My meatball sandwich was slightly warm on the outside and cold on the inside. The salad had wilted lettuce and the tomato sauce was nothing more than a sickenly sweet read mixture. We ordered delivery from Mangieri's Pizza tonight (not the first time!). I cannot say enough about how good this place is! The pizzas arrived piping hot and on time! I had one of the specialty gourmet pizzas on regular thin crust with half Pipers; grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, and loads of fresh veggies. It was delicious! And the other half was something new; a specialty Pizza of the Week with spicy pepperoni and sautéed hatch chili peppers. OMG. To die for! I've been ordering from Mangieri's for a while now and they consistently produce fresh pizzas and pastas. And they never bat an eye when I ask for no cheese (dairy allergy)!! Every time I open the box, the pizza is just as I ordered, it's such a relief! MMMmmm... And do try dining in! Delicious pizza. Ambiance is alright, staff was a bit inattentive, but otherwise incredibly friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. It's nice for two people to knock off an entire extra large pizza and not have to roll out to the car. The pizza tasted like quality to me, and the fact we weren't stuffed after eating so much confirms this. Price is beyond reasonable. We pay more for the chain delivery garbage. read more

My husband and I visited Lakeway recently and decided to give this place a try since it was close and they delivered to the resort we were staying at. We ordered fried zucchini, a grilled chicken salad, and pizza. The fried zucchini was good and very enjoyable. The chicken salad was also good. The pizza we ordered had chicken, tomatoes, spinach, and mozzarella on it. The crust was thin which I like, but lacked a good amount of crunch. Whenever I eat such a thin crust, I expect a good amount of crunch. But it by no means ruined the pizza. The ingredients themselves were good and the pizza was only warm, but it's to be expected with delivery. All in all I'd say it was pretty average pizza. Not horrible, not amazing. Just regular run of the mill pizza. read more

Food is generally pretty good. Loved every pizza I have tried. The patio is a nice spot, just a great vibe, typically very comfortable even in moderate heat. . The waitstaff are wildly inconsistent from terribly lazy, sloppy and forgetful, to very attentive and helpful. Playground is a great bonus and helps make up for the wait-staff. Two years ago I would have easily given five stars. Unfortunately, they have not kept up with the growth in Lakeway. We used to order their pizza every Sunday. For the past several months, though, the pizza has arrived over cooked and lukewarm. The ingredient quality is excellent, it just seems they are not staffed to keep up with delivery demand. Don't get me wrong, the delivery drivers have all been excellent! It just seems to be a process/staffing issue, as the quoted lead time is one hour. We stopped ordering unless we have the time to go pick it up ourselves (which is very rare, with our busy schedules.) What can you do when you're hard up for a pizza delivery? My husband likes this pizza best...in the area. When we're hard up for a quick pizza delivered to our door, it's the best we can do. We order the Hot Pigg without the pig, it's spicy and and always arrives hot. I will say, the delivery people are great. We've eaten in the restaurant twice. Appetizers are really good, salads are good, but nothing really takes your breath away. There are very very young people that work here and I don't believe they have the customer service experience of a non-IHOP establishment. It's more like they are serving company at their parents house - not to motivated, kind of nice if your jokes are juvenile. So 3 stars for just being ok. read more

Went on a Friday with my husband and kids about 5:30 and found it to be rather empty. We were seated promptly, it was clean and nice for a pizza restaurant. We ordered zucchini as the appetizer and some garlic bread. Both were ok. We had three pizzas, BBQ chicken, Cheese and Margarita. All three were just OK. nothing special or especially good. It was like California Pizza Kitchen. The service was great, but unfortunately I don't think I will be back, there are better choices in Lakeway. read more

Pizza and pasta dishes were good. Stay away from the gluten free cheese ball whatever the hell appetizer. Corn meal wrapped around a piece of cheese for like $7. No thanks. Service was terrible. Laughable really as there was only one other person in there the entire time I was there. Good thing I wasn't thirsty or anything. Now maybe I know why. Only redeeming part of the place is the chef. I like how this restaurant has fans on their patio. I like their breadsticks there. I also like their different kind of pizzas.

So I've been ordering from here for 7-8 years. Solid stuff. I've never had anything that I don't like and I'd put everything that I've had in the 8-10 range. I really like this place. Today, for the first time in said 7-8 years, I got fries with my Chicago style beef sandwich instead of chips. I guess I never associate fries with sandwiches or with Italian so I never ordered the fries. I'm an idiot. Today was different and oh my lord. Instantly, my favorite fries. If you're like me and grew up in SoCal with the Carl's, Jr fries that were discontinued back in the early 80s and you always wanted to have them again...they're here! They're HERE!! They don't look like them but they taste like them and have the same texture, etc. Thank you for bringing me my fries that I've been missing for 30 years, even though you probably didn't know you were doing it. And if you change them, we're gonna have issues. Seriously. Never change you're fries! Ha. So good, so good read more

New to the area and wanted pasta. A friend recommended Mangieri's. It was probably a mistake to go somewhere that is a "pizza cafe" and expect them to have good Italian food. They have pasta on the menu, but it was mediocre at best. The bruschetta and the garlic bread were excellent, but the penne with meat sauce was watery and had no flavor. Plus, the service was AWFUL! Our waiter was very pleasant, but it took forever to get our entrees. I don't know what their pizza is like, but do not go there for pasta. read more

My family and I have gone to this pizza cafe a few times now. We have had 3 different incredibly friendly waiter/waitresses, and 3 different fabulous pizzas. This isn't pizza, this is cardboard! Here's what I experienced here: called to order and young lady who took my order had a smart mouth on her. I was trying to read the menu at the same time as ordering and I started out by saying, "I'd like to order an x-large" and before I got to finish my sentence, she says, "an extra large what?" I thought to myself, "damn, another impatient jerk, once again." I finished ordering what I thought was going to be a pizza with mushrooms & black olives. The girl who took the order never asked what kind of crust I wanted or anything else. I didn't know the pizza came with a different crust. We waited about 45 minutes and finally the pizza was delivered to my house. I opened the box and to my complete & utter shock, the pizza was flatter than the actual pizza box. I busted out laughing, because it was the ugliest, most pathetic pizza I have ever seen. I was also angry. This flat, dry, dusty cardboard was over $20! I tried tasting it and it was dry and cold. Weird tasting, even. I can only describe that it tasted like cardboard. There wasn't even sauce on it hardly. Dry, ugly, flat, hideous! I called the manager immediately and he actually had the driver come back to my house and give me my money back. I let the driver keep the tip, though. He kept apologizing, but I told him, "son, it isn't your fault!" "You didn't cook it!" I don't know why anyone would take their aggression out on a kid, working a part time job anyway. Heck, I'm just happy to even see any young person having a job nowadays, instead of being self-entitled, spoiled brats. Stay far away from this nightmarish cardboard and save your money so you can go to HEB and buy a DiGiorno. read more

Well, sadly this place was a big disappointment! We moved in to the area a few months ago and have been trying our local eateries. When we didn't find the "Mom & Pop best Italian in the area right there next to the Home Depot in Lakeway" that a new friend recommended, we pulled in to Mangieri's a few miles away. The first thing we noticed was the Zagat plaque on the wall. We thought that was a good thing. Then only one table of patrons at 6:30 pm on a Thurs... We were handed menus plus a bar menu by the host who seated us. The menus show "Happy Hour 4-7 pm." When we asked our polite server what the Happy Hour drink specials were he told us the menus and sign on the door were outdated and that the manager had decided to end Happy Hour at 6:30 pm. Not a fan of sloppy menu corrections, especially in a "Zagat Rated" pizzeria, I still asked why they hadn't at least used a Sharpee to change the hours? Our server smiled and said, "Yeah people get pretty upset over that..." We asked what the place is known for and what folks order the most. He responded with "If you see an 'M' before the item it's a house specialty and there are several of those on the pizzas, if you see a 'V' it's Vegan. Next we asked, "You have quite a few dinner entree choices, is any of it frozen because we prefer fresh?" He said nothing was frozen (keep this in mind) then explained that they order in the pasta, cook it all al dente in one day each week then reheat! OMG that's wrong! Seeing the "M" next to the lasagna we asked if he liked it. He had never eaten it. I asked if it's homemade. He answered, "Well know actually the little lasagnas come in frozen" while showing the approximate size with his hands. I made a joke about what Gordon Ramsey would say... We moved on to pizzas and ordered, at his recommendation, a pizza that was half one type and half another. We chose two different ones. The pizza was "OK" but nothing THAT much better than delivery on football game day. The thin crust is nice as an option but it's all they make. For the money, just not worth it! Oh and I sprinkled a little parmesan cheese on my margherita from the shaker on the table. As soon as we began to eat, I noticed an off tasting something and soon isolated to the added cheese. I sprinkled some on a plate and darker older bits (undoubtedly from adding more to near empty shakers!) mixed in to the lighter, although all of it looked odd and on one's finger tip tasted awful! Our server said, as we asked what it was, "Yeah, let me bring you some real parmesan cheese from the kitchen and sorry about that, my customers don't eat that stuff, I'll be right back." It's that "no refrigeration necessary parmesan-like pizza topping." It's full of fillers and tastes awful! What's obvious about this place is that the outparcel location and overall look are weighing heavily in their overhead. Sadly, it's also very obvious that whoever is making the decisions cuts the wrong things first to lower costs! They cut food quality at every turn!!!! We won't return and were surprised to hear they have another location although our server did admit it's far better than this one... Just go somewhere else! There are far too many choices in Austin to waste a meal and your hard earned money on a place that seems to be on the downslope to closing... The one star was for the server who did the best he could. Otherwise this place would get none. read more

Being raised in the greater Chicago area, I know my pizza. The other night, we ordered a 14" pizza with three toppings. The moment it arrived, the pizza box was light as a feather and to my prediction the pizza virtually had little on it plus it was cold. I really felt ripped off being since we spent close to $35 that included a tiny salad. Skimping on the amount in order to pay the rent is what I figure. Never again! read more

My husband and I will not be returning. We went this evening, ordered greek salads and a pizza, I made a comment to my husband that I hoped this time they would actually put feta cheese in the salads because previously the salads were pretty much lacking any feta except a few granules. I asked the waitress to put our dressing on the side. When our bill came, we noticed we were charged for double dressings and double fetas. The salads had the exact skimpy amount of feta cheese as usual which is almost nothing. When we questioned the bill, she went to " talk" to the manager and told me the charges were correct because of the extra feta cheese. In my opinion, feta should not be listed even if it is suppose to be a "greek" salad. I cannot believe they would prefer to lose customers in Lakeway for a trivial amount of cheese. In retrospect, I should have carried my own personal chunck of feta to add to my salad, However, instead, we will not be returning. By the way, the pizza was very good. read more
