We were happy to get a table on memorial weekend and the servers were amazing considering the situation. There wasn't a manager in the building so it was just servers making the drinks, taking tables, and apologizing to the guests. Our drinks took 10+ minutes each time they were ordered. They were out of several things and our food took almost an hour to arrive. When it did we received cold shrimp on bunt cold chips and unmelted cheese. Whoever is responsible for this business owner/manager wise should apologize to the staff and be thankful they even have one anymore. This was our one night eating out on our vacation and we know for next year this will never be an option again. Management should be ashamed and apologize to their staff. read more

The nachos were missing tomatoes but Amanda hustled up stairs to get us some. She was hustling to serve everyone too. They are short staffed. Great service. We stay on the island. Going by the reviews, I thought we'd get slop in a bucket - if we were served at all. Luckily that was far from the case! My wife and I arrived about an hour before closing and were greeted/seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly and brought our drinks quickly. Food was ready 20-25mins after ordering. My fried shrimp were good. My wife's mahi tacos were excellent. It's a good beach bar that also serves food. Not sure what expectations or experiences led to the other bad reviews, I can only go by my personal experience - and that experience was unexpectedly good. read more

Disappointing Experience at Mango Mike's We walked into Mango Mike's hoping for a nice meal, but were met with nothing but rudeness. Our waitress barely acknowledged us and flat-out said, "We'll get to you when we can," before proceeding to serve three other tables that arrived after us. She kept walking past us without even a glance. After waiting with no service or explanation, we finally just got up and left. However there was a cool breeze inside on a hot day. There's a phenomenon called the "bystander effect" where after an accident no bystanders will call 911 because they all think someone else already did. Our party of 7 had a similar experience with "Mango Mikes." Someone off-handedly suggested we dine at this beach bar, another seconded the motion, and soon enough we've arrived, been seated, and ordered a starter of Gator Bites. "Someone else must have checked the reviews," we all thought. Then we heard my Girlfriend's Mom gasp at her phone. "Why are we here??" she exclaimed, "This is a 2-star establishment!" Panic ensued, but it was too late to back out now. The Gator Bites had been ordered and we could see the frozen margs in route to our queasy ensemble. After berating the member of our party who'd recommended this cursed location, the reality of our situation set in. The only way out was forward, so all 7 members of our party ordered the "Fried Shrimp Dinner" (It seemed less suspect than the Sports Bar Oysters) and hoped for the best. But when the Fried Shrimp Dinner arrived-- rather promptly too, and with great service-- we were surprised to see it looked pretty appetizing. And shoot, it tasted pretty appetizing too! What really sold us though was the servings. The 17 year old Franklin County High School chef is either very generous or failing his math class, because he gave all of us 14-18 shrimp when the menu called for 12. And for $18 it was a great deal! I wouldn't say the food was top-notch, but it was mighty good for a beach bar and we'll definitely be back next next year, 2-stars be damned. read more

First the waitress was wonderful! But from there everything else is on its last leg. Unfortunately, our first experience is our last.

I struggled with how many stars to give. Had I reviewed it after our first visit it would have been 1. We find seats at the bar, it's somewhat busy, but not packed by any means. We sat there for a long time (10ish minutes) and no one even acknowledged us. Finally someone asked if we'd been helped and after we told her no, she said she'd be right back. We waited at least another 10 minutes and finally left after no service. A couple of days later we decided to give it another shot. We pulled up around 2:00 and there were no cars there. We asked if they were opened and they were. They did let us know the gas company was there and that currently they couldn't really serve anything but a Cuban sandwich but it should be fixed soon. We decided to drink for a while and wait on the food. After a good hour or so we needed something to eat so I asked our waitress if we could get chips and salsa. Well...they make the tortilla chips fresh so that wasn't possible. Why am I still giving them 4 stars?? Because our waitress/bartender was great and then the cook came out and said he'd see if he could get some chips from The Beach Pit across the street (same owners I found out). I ordered the nachos with all the cheese on the side since I'm dairy free. They came with cheese on it and cheese on the side. They were supposed to come with avocados and jalapeños, but did not because they were out of them. We had to ask because the waitress did not volunteer that information. Go to the Blue Parrot or Paddy's. The food there is really good. This place was tolerable. We stopped in for a beer. Good location for an Island Tiki bar with a nice ambiance. Our Bartender was prompt... but the place was empty. They get a 1* because the beer was cold. But, it stops right there. This place is filthy, floors don't look like they've been power washed in 10+ yrs. The steps upstairs to the bathroom are black with dirt & grime. The kitchen is upstairs... what a mess. The doors were open and I could see the stainless steel table was filthy and had dirty wet rags on it. And, they had several flattened cardboard beer boxes laying on the floor absorbing water or some sort of liquid. Where is the Health Dept. Inspectors. !!?? After my bathroom trip... came downstairs and told my husband... "we are not eating here... not even an appetizer". There was also a small kid running around... chasing his Dad with the open mustard and ketchup squirt bottles with intent to squeeze them on his father. Not correcting his son to stop or calm down..... he playfully aimed the bar gun to spray the kid with water !! Then, as Dad stepped inside the back room, the kid put the mustard on the floor and ran into the back room after his father with the ketchup. Enough was enough..... we did not finish our drinks and left. An unruly child & parent is not a place I want to spend money. We will never be back. Down for vacation with my family and 2 small children. Saturday night is DJ/Karaoke night. While we don't mind music and singing the music was way too loud. Asked to have it turned down some and they did for a moment of time and the DJ turned it up so loud. thankfully my children didn't mind. Food was not good at all. We should've gotten the appetizers 10 minutes before the entrées. The gator bites were gross! Hamburger was about 3 stars lower than High School burgers. We were on vacation and decided to try this place. Let me start off saying that it's St. Patrick's Day so everywhere has been packed. That should have been our first sign to leave when no one was there. The bartenders was friendly and very sweet. First they were out of salad fixings. But then it took a long time for food to come. We were seated around 6:30 pm on. Wednesday and it took about 15-20 min before someone came by to say hit may I take your order. Food: Mahi sandwich tasted not great no flavor or sauce and had a fishy smell His burger was well done and we were told that is the only way they will cook burgers - Ha! Terrible to have well done - yuck! Sooo sad to say we wouldn't be back - but we won't be back. They should really learn from there comments here and on the SGI FB page - or they will be out of business soon. It's a great little spot, but you have to charge a couple bucks more and hire Better Staff and make better dishes - sauces and cooks meals matter!! read more

I got gator balls and Captain Mike's oysters to start with. The oysters were out of this world and had very generous portions of lobster on them.
