We were starving by the time we decided to eat our late lunch early dinner. We were seated at the best seat on the front porch, right in the corner by the crosswalk. We ordered the salsa trio while we waited for our lunch. The perfect nibbles while people watching. The plantains were crisp and delightful dipped in the mango salsa especially combined with a dash of guacamole. The hummus was outstanding as well. Soon our meals arrived. The chicken rice bowl was amazing! Chicken cooked to perfection topped with chilled fresh mango salsa all together on top of rice prepared perfectly. Not many people have had the pleasure of enjoying bulgogi, but if not, Mangoes is a great place to give it a try. The beef was perfectly prepared and served over rice with matchstick carrots. Went to alonzos, blue heaven, firefly, a & b lobster house and mermaid oyster bar. This was hands down the worst experience and place. Being that it's on duval st is a bonus and the hostess was the only reason I'm giving 1 star. Had two bartenders with 6 people at the bar, maybe 10% occupied. Got awful service and rude responses upon asking for ranch dressing with my salad. Didn't know it was one of those restaurants you don't do that. Lady looked at me like I was crazy, asked me three times of ranch was what I said then went to put my order in. Came back, they didn't have ranch. No biggie, but don't be a ***** about it. I tip well and I don't like to dress up. Maybe they thought I was going to run out on my bill but I was with a married couple and bought two shots for some newlyweds down the bar. First vacation in Key west and stopped by Mangoes shortly after arriving. Easy walk up location on Duval which with nice outdoor eating areas. The inside is ok too but the outside looks way nicer. Bathrooms were well kept and all the staff were very nice. The drinks were fine, I had the Bloody Mary which was ok but had a bit of a sweet tamarind flavor I would ask them to hold next time, I also got the Banana Mojito which was also ok but very very light Banana flavor. If you like more of a banana Flavor I might ask for a bit extra of that or maybe double of the Banana Liquor. At lunch my fiancé had the chicken quesadillas which were very tasty especially with the Crema. I had the blackened fish tacos which were surprisingly bland, not bad by any means but the tacos and the side black beans/rice with cheese were pretty bland. I would have used salt and pepper or maybe some kind of sauce if it was supposed to have it but there wasn't any on the table or brought with the meal. I was having such a nice time enjoying the atmosphere and did enjoy the food enough that I didn't need to bother asking for salt or pepper. We also had the Key lime pie which was delicious and had what was a raspberry drizzle I believe. Came back again later for dinner and really enjoyed the drinks which were a blue island and watermelontini, great flavors on both with just the right amount of kick. This time we split the crab cakes which were amazing (especially the sauce and greens/beet garnish,) the conch fritters which were also delicious and the lobster Mac and cheese which I was a bit disappointing actually. The Mac and cheese part was fine but they used imitation lobster which was a big let down. I probably still would have ordered it if they had listed it as imitation lobster (because it wasn't bad,) but it was one of the most expensive appetizers on the menu and I was expecting fresh lobster. I'm not going to discourage anyone from going here and I'll likely go again if we are blessed enough to be able to return to Key West, but of this may be your only visit to Mangoes I'd recommend trying something other things. read more

Frankly, I have no idea what the food is like here. We stopped here for a piece of their Key Lime Pie, figuring it must be good at $5.50 a slice. The hostess was very nice and seated us immediately. However, we waited 10 minutes for a waiter, and decided that was long enough. They just weren't that busy at the time. We lost all confidence in their ability to take care of us and left. I wish I could give zero star because 1 is too many, I called to make a reservation about 12 times nobody answered the phone so we decided to head there to see if we can get a table long story short it took us 1 hour and half to get in even the whole restaurant was empty if that's not a problem it took our server 45 minutes to come to our table that would have made sense if there was any customer there other than us. We put in our order finally and after 30 minutes we got our food. To end my night I ended up in emergency room for food poisoning. Stopped in for a cocktail at the outdoor bar around 2 pm. Just wanted a key lime martini but instead was rudely greeted by the manager and told to mask up. I mask up everywhere but this silliness outside is a bit much and in 10 seconds when my drink is in front of me I'm unmasked? Try a better approach when greeting guests, we are here to enjoy your establishment! He then approaches us with a bottle of spray for our hands. Put sanitizer in the bar I'll gladly use I'm not a child I don't need a grown man spraying my hands. We decided to go to another establishment who wanted our business. Arrived around 1135 on a Saturday. They have options to sit inside or out. It was hot so we decided to sit inside and where immediately seated. I ordered the fish tacos, my spouse ordered the burger and my daughter ordered a Cuban sandwich. The fish tacos where excellent. My daughter loved the Cuban sandwich and Hubby enjoyed his burger. Mangoes, which I understand is a relatively new restaurant, was a great find on Duval Street. We didn't have a particular restaurant in mind when we started our stroll down Duval. We thought we would just walk and shop until we were hungry and then search out something with a good menu. Frankly, I did not have high expectations. I was expecting high prices and so-so food on Duval. Pleasantly surprised by Mangoes. We had a leisurely lunch on the pleasant patio. Good service. I had the Carribean Cobb Salad which was a delicious combination of greens, rum glazed bacon, hard-boiled egg, corn, black beans, and tiny heirloom tomatoes. Nice kick from cilantro and a key lime dressing. Excellent. I skipped my usual wine in favor of a Naked Mango Mojito. It seemed to be a little light on the rum, but a good cocktail for lunch. DH ordered a Cuban sandwich and surprised himself by ordering the yucca frites rather than the standard fries. (I don't see the Cuban on the menu now. Maybe it was a special of the day.) A beer was the ideal drink. We splurged on a shared dessert. I was surprised by the size of the Key Lime Marscapone Pie on a ginger crust. It was like a cheesecake but lighter. With all of the great places we had been to on our trip we were bound to hit a place that we will remember as OK. We were seated outside in a weird awkward table, facing the hostess podium. Just a little awkward at times when your just wanting to take in the surrounding area and do some people watching but you don't want to be rude and make her think you are staring directly at her. Our server wasn't on top her game. She seemed bored and distracted, she didn't come check on us very often. We were left without drinks for some time and trying to get the check at the end of the night, we actually had to ask the hostess if our server was going to come back at all. As if that isn't disappointment enough the food was good but did little to really impress us. My husbands lobster was a bit on the chewy side. My pink shrimp were not as plump or delicious as I had recently had, The vegetables on my plate were okay but my broccoli was under cooked and I didn't understand the two sauces provided they did not do much if at all to enhance the meal. It was like they just stuck them on there for no real reason. The fried portion was fish and crab but for some reason they both taste very similar. Was in Key West for the day and asked locals what they would recommend and everyone mentioned Mangoes. I am not 100% what the hype was all about because it was just average and expensive for no reason. Simple entrees and starters were pricey for the portions received. However if you do go between 4-7 the starters are half off. I had the conch sampler and it was a tadd to spicy for my taste. We also ordered the tuna salad which was extremely small portioned for the cost and also spicy for me. I have had both of these items before from other places and never experienced this issue. The service was not bad but was nothing to write home about. My friend asked for extra chips for starter and the server never came with them. I feel like if you're in key west there has to be a better place to spend money and fulfill your cravings. read more

The guy was playing and singing some of the best hits, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and those that are popular now. Came here 3pm for a late lunch, and since it's a Wednesday, only a few tables were hanging around even though it is located at a touristy area. Ordered a mango salad with grilled shrimp because I don't wanna eat anything hot under the hot weather, and the portion is pretty big. Nothing really beats the combo nicely grilled shrimp and mangoes. Salad is a great choice, as you lost your appetite under the sun, the salad dressing really pick up your lost appetite. The shrimp poboy is also very good, but it is not as enjoyable as a cold dish , so I would suggest ordering it at night when the temperature goes down. We were with 2 kids, one infant.. one waiter assigned us an outside seat but soon we were told we had to seat elsewhere.. we waited there for 20 minutes to order food and another one hour to get our food on table.. not until kids started making noise as they obviously became fussy and everyone could notice they served us.. not sure what's the deal but folks who came after us got the outside table and food served well before us.. The sushi roll we ordered were one of their specialty roll, rainbow and dragon roll. They were ok and was not bad as the service. However I ended up paying parking fine as I exceeded well over 1 hour due to the exorbitant wait time at the restaurant. Mangoes is a wonderful environment, wonderful servers, and there was no wait for dinner. However, that is all that I can say was good about this place. My family had the cheese nachos, Caesar salad, the kids chicken parmesan, and shrimp scampi. The nachos as an appetizer came out with speed and were good except there was barely any chips for all of the stuff that came on top, there was only liquid cheese on the bottom rather than all over, and there was shredded cheese on top that only resulted in a mess. Then the Cesar salad and entrees came out at the same time, which would have left our food cold if the server wasn't nice enough to put it in the back while we ate our salad. The Caesar salad was good except the lettuce came as though they took the leaves of lettuce and snapped it in half and called it a day, which was not preferable for me. When we were done with our salads our server brought us our entrees; however, when our server brought us our food it was only slightly warm, which made it unpleasant. My family took a few bites of our food to then pay and promptly leave. The shrimp cold did not tastes good, and the sauce was also not that great. My family did not enjoy the sauce was spicy and cold, which did not tasted good. Finally, the chicken was not good and tasted old. I recommend this place to go to the bar and have a drink to experience the environment. However, I do not recommend Mangoes to have dinner. I am very disappointed that my family used one of our few vacation nights here, rather than one of the other many places at Key West. read more
