Stopped in for Lunch on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon. The outdoor seating was mostly on in use, but we were seated very quickly. Service was quick and very friendly. Wife and I come in at 11:15. Only ones here. Each order a Cuban sandwich. Takes 20 minutes to get them and they're ice cold in the middle. We pay an extra $3 for the sweet potato waffle fries and there's literally five fries that come for $3. Place is terribly slow, food is meh and overpriced. Not a good experience for lunch and I do not reccomend it at all. Sent the Cuban sandwiches back because both were cold. It's 11:46 and I can't wait to see how long it takes to get them back! Also my favorite part of this lunch is the completely oblivious manager at a table two over from us going through business issues that should be done in an office and not even realizing how bad of an experience we're having. Stopped by here for Dinner during the Christmas parade, great place to view anything that's going on at the street. Slightly upscale, good live music and great service, 3 stars comes from a couple of very specific things. 1. There was a lady with two dogs walking around the dinning area, at one point they weren't on a leash. The lady was stopping at every table and talking to the guest about other customers that "took her table". At one point the dogs were very close to other patrons food, one of the servers/mangers pulled the dog away, but they persisted. 2. The bloody Mary...at that price make your own mix, the brand your using is not that great and compared to some of the other drinks we had, your bartenders could definitely make a better mix. We will be back because the pasta, fish and service from our waiter was the best on the street, our experience was just less than expected because of other patrons. read more

Food presentation was excellent but the food itself was not good. Spouse ordered hogfish special and the hogfish and shrimp risotto was not fresh at all; very rubbery and did not taste fresh. Worst mahi mahi sandwich I've ever tasted. I took one bite and was completely overwhelmed by the fishy taste! I didn't eat anymore after one little bite. Our waitress didn't seem to care and didn't offer to make it right. She even charged us for it. My husband who doesn't research restaurants wanted to go here on a whim. Here's a full recap, play by play of what happened. Then you can decide if you want to tempt the fates and eat at this terrible establishment... My wife and I chose Mangoes as our dinner spot on OpenTable on our trip down to Key West. Lots of good reviews and comments about the atmosphere, so we figured it would be perfect. We were greeted at the hostess stand and immediately seated at a table inside, after being given the option for outdoors or indoors. Since it was pretty warm and we had been out and about all day, we figured some AC inside would be nice. We were seated and given menus, waiting and watching as server after server kept passing the inside area to wait tables in other parts of the restaurant outdoors. We waited for nearly 15 minutes before I decided to get up and move us to an outdoor table, hoping we would get some service. When the hostess asked why we wanted to move, we said it was because no one had even come to greet us while we were inside and it seemed our best chance for getting our dinner started would be to move outside. She immediately apologized and assured us that our waiter/waitress was on the way over... Fast forward to another 10 minutes later, where we were still seated with no greeting from a waiter/waitress and didn't even have water! My wife ended up getting up from the table and stopping one of the waiters coming to and from the outdoor seating to ASK HIM if he was the one to be serving us. He apologized (kind of half heartedly) that he hadn't come by and said he would come over to take our orders. At this point, we weren't convinced we wanted to even stay for dinner but wanted to test out the service by just ordering a drink. My wife and I point blank asked him why it took him so long to come over and his only answer was a complaint about being understaffed. No real apology or "Hey, how can I fix it?"...just complaining about his job. At that point, he began to be really rude to us for not being satisfied with his excuses but did get us some cocktails. We immediately requested that a manager come to our table. Carlos, the manager on duty, came by the table and was quick to also lay down excuses as to why the service was so poor. We explained that we were 35 minutes into being at the restaurant and didn't even have drinks, and were treated very rudely by our server. He agreed to comp our drinks, and it is a good thing, because we didn't last much longer there. After our server got us the drinks (dropping them onto the table and leaving without saying a word to us), he proceeded to go by our table 3 times without ever coming back to see if we wanted food. At that point, one of the hostesses asked "Is everything ok?" and that was the very end. We told her that our server was ignoring us, she made excuses as to why he was "so busy" and we proceeded to get up and leave. One cocktail - 45 minutes at the restaurant! To boil it all down, Mangoes is one of those tourist restaurants that knows its going to make money regardless of good service because of its location on Duval St. They don't care whether you are taken care of because they know someone else will come in off the street right behind you and take your spot. It's the sad truth, but wasn't worth our time or experience. We ended up going to another place down the road and had a great time! So I wish I could tell you more about the food but I never got around to eating it. And we had just about enough excuses... read more

What a nightmare of an experience. Went last night, had to return glass water twice because it had lipstick from somebody else. Ordered our food, sushi, kale salad with blackened fish, waited for over an hour and then the waiter returns surprised we don't have our meals yet, he's excusing himself saying that it's a kitchen problem, we said that we where leaving and he agrees with us! Although he said it was a kitchen problem, they only had 2 tables us and the table behind us that where upset because they'd been waiting on their bill. Basically the only party waiting on food was us. Horrible and dirty place!!!! The bathrooms where also dirty. read more

Food was pretty delicious. Ordered the Churrasco Steak which was delicious other than the fact that it was over cooked. Ordered medium and got well done. Service was meh. Family never got refills on the drinks and when we finished the server stood over my shoulder while I submitted the tip/payment. I can say the server next to us serving another table was amazing and very attentive. We have been coming back to the Keys for years and Mangoes used to be one of our go to places. We had not been there for at least four years and we decided to stop for lunch. I had the taco salad and my husband had the Baja tacos. The ropa vieja had no flavor, the creamy chipotle dressing tasted like sour cream and it was just blah. My husband said his fish was over cooked and didn't really have any flavor. We did not have any drinks and it came out to around $45 for an average at best meal. The location is perfect. Seating is indoor and out with a nice view of the street. Food is bland with no flavor. Fish tacos were cold, fish was dry, and flavorless. The Caesar salad dressing had no flavor. Chicken on the salad was not dry, but tasted like it had not been seasoned. The white sangria was fair. read more

A clean and bright restaurant on Duval Street. Outdoor brick patio partially covered by tent. We ordered the sweet chili shrimp wrap. The wrap was loaded with shrimp and the small pineapple chunks, cherry tomatoes and avocado in a sweet chili sauce was a great fusion. This came with a choice of side. I would like to post some photos of our food...but I can't! It was never served. We arrived via RCL Rhapsody of the Seas on 12/23/18 about 230PM. The hostess seated us to an empty house. We waited....waited....and finally waved down a server. They told us they would find Jimmy, who was working our empty section. He showed up and took our order. Delivered our drinks and headed to the kitchen. We waited....waited....and finally he came to our table to apologize for the delay but the kitchen was changing over from the lunch menu to the dinner menu. I found that excuse rather flimsy since the other two tables had received their food. We drank half our sodas and after 30 minutes decided that is was time to leave...which we did. read more

The restaurant is really deserving of 3 1/2 stars; however, our server was excellent, very pleasant, professional and engaging. The conch fritters and empanadas were both really good, and the desserts were also very good, including the Keylime pie. The crabcakes were just OK, and the mussels were some of the worst I've ever had, at least in terms of the cooking sauce. It tasted just like soy sauce had been poured over them - our server explained that the cooks don't always pay enough attention to what they do. Cocktails were good. We ordered 2 mojitos and some apps. The Mojitos were horrible....mint was black and spotty - we know because it was not muddled. They tasted like ice water. Not worth a dollar, much less $12.00. For food, we ordered conch fritters -cold and pasty, and the smoked fish dip - which was very much like a can of tuna mixed with mayonnaise. I get it's a tourist trap, I get it's covid. I made the egregious error of coming to Mangoes at the beginning of my week at the Keys... this was a huge mistake, because there are a lot of restaurants I want to check out nearby. But after sampling the conch trio, double lobster sushi roll, and that delicious, delicious steak quesadilla with ghost pepper cheese, I'm having a lot of trouble tearing myself away. We were starving by the time we decided to eat our late lunch early dinner. We were seated at the best seat on the front porch, right in the corner by the crosswalk. We ordered the salsa trio while we waited for our lunch. The perfect nibbles while people watching. The plantains were crisp and delightful dipped in the mango salsa especially combined with a dash of guacamole. The hummus was outstanding as well. Soon our meals arrived. The chicken rice bowl was amazing! Chicken cooked to perfection topped with chilled fresh mango salsa all together on top of rice prepared perfectly. Not many people have had the pleasure of enjoying bulgogi, but if not, Mangoes is a great place to give it a try. The beef was perfectly prepared and served over rice with matchstick carrots. Went to alonzos, blue heaven, firefly, a & b lobster house and mermaid oyster bar. This was hands down the worst experience and place. Being that it's on duval st is a bonus and the hostess was the only reason I'm giving 1 star. Had two bartenders with 6 people at the bar, maybe 10% occupied. Got awful service and rude responses upon asking for ranch dressing with my salad. Didn't know it was one of those restaurants you don't do that. Lady looked at me like I was crazy, asked me three times of ranch was what I said then went to put my order in. Came back, they didn't have ranch. No biggie, but don't be a ***** about it. I tip well and I don't like to dress up. Maybe they thought I was going to run out on my bill but I was with a married couple and bought two shots for some newlyweds down the bar. First vacation in Key west and stopped by Mangoes shortly after arriving. Easy walk up location on Duval which with nice outdoor eating areas. The inside is ok too but the outside looks way nicer. Bathrooms were well kept and all the staff were very nice. The drinks were fine, I had the Bloody Mary which was ok but had a bit of a sweet tamarind flavor I would ask them to hold next time, I also got the Banana Mojito which was also ok but very very light Banana flavor. If you like more of a banana Flavor I might ask for a bit extra of that or maybe double of the Banana Liquor. At lunch my fiancé had the chicken quesadillas which were very tasty especially with the Crema. I had the blackened fish tacos which were surprisingly bland, not bad by any means but the tacos and the side black beans/rice with cheese were pretty bland. I would have used salt and pepper or maybe some kind of sauce if it was supposed to have it but there wasn't any on the table or brought with the meal. I was having such a nice time enjoying the atmosphere and did enjoy the food enough that I didn't need to bother asking for salt or pepper. We also had the Key lime pie which was delicious and had what was a raspberry drizzle I believe. Came back again later for dinner and really enjoyed the drinks which were a blue island and watermelontini, great flavors on both with just the right amount of kick. This time we split the crab cakes which were amazing (especially the sauce and greens/beet garnish,) the conch fritters which were also delicious and the lobster Mac and cheese which I was a bit disappointing actually. The Mac and cheese part was fine but they used imitation lobster which was a big let down. I probably still would have ordered it if they had listed it as imitation lobster (because it wasn't bad,) but it was one of the most expensive appetizers on the menu and I was expecting fresh lobster. I'm not going to discourage anyone from going here and I'll likely go again if we are blessed enough to be able to return to Key West, but of this may be your only visit to Mangoes I'd recommend trying something other things. read more
