Mangoes is a lovely spot in Key West. We sat outside and enjoyed awesome live music, great food and drink and wonderful service. We got the salsa trio appetizer and it was the perfect snack. We shared the Caribbean Cobb Salad and Jerk Chicken Wrap. For dessert we had the key lime pie and it was to die for. Much, much better than I expected. Decided to go because I was supporting a business that helped out residents and responders after Irma, and was expecting a more Duval Street experience. Much better food than that. Had the shrimp wrap for lunch - flavors in it were great! Key Lime Pie, which I'm picky about, was good as well (got it without the drizzle, cause I'm more of a purist). I have 2 words for you: chicken nuggets and french fries. Ok, so I can't count. But let me tell you a story about chicken nuggets and french fries: They are really super hard to track down in Key West. You think I'm joking but I'm not. It's an American staple, a classic go-to, a fantastic hangover accruitrement and a preferred drunk food. So why is it so damn difficult to find a damn establishment that will throw some damn tenders in the frier?! And that's when, after blocks and blocks of hungrily searching, Scott called out like a siren in the night, beckoning me and my two hungry girlfriends towards Mangoes. I was skeptical. Mangoes certainly did not look as though it was going to supply us with anything short of mediocre tourist-trap food, and after reading the menu and finding it void of anything fried, I was ready to turn and keep on. But Scott assured us that Mangoes could provide some tenders and fries. Here's the caveat, it would be off the kid's menu. Still, and now for more obvious reasons, I was skeptical, and I accused poor Scott on trying to sell us on frozen dinosaur shaped nuggets of processed meat. However, he crossed his heart that Mangoes would not disappoint and convinced us to stay. So we did. The three of us were seated inside a large room with only one other table of diners. Not a great sign. Then, I saw the waiter who was serving that one table, strap on a backpack and head for the door. Even worse sign. After a few minutes of seeing waiters hustle and bustle on the outdoor patio and not one person stepping in to acknowledge us, we were 5 minutes shy of officially giving up and heading out. But then our waitress appeared, and with a basket of super yummy and warm coconut bread at that. Before she could turn and leave us to our munching, we aggressively demanded three orders of the chicken fingers. She didn't even flinch or protest. Seeing as the kid's meal was 6 bucks and the regular menu had dishes priced between $15-30, she could have easily been pissed, but not a peep was made. And when those chicken tenders and fries came out... . s'good. SO GOOD. Scott did not lead us wrong, those were some killers tenders. And such a huge portion! It was definitely an adult size serving with 6 large tenders and a big handful of crispy hot fries. In the end, we were not sure if it was the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of the capture, but in complete aggreence, it was determined that Mangoes served up the best chicken fingers and french fries we've ever had. read more

If I could rate negative stars or no stars I would. The service and hosts were extremely rude and discriminatory. We called over 20 times to make a reservation and the line was disconnected the whole time. I am sitting writing this review from another restaurant that we walked to immediately following our visit from Mangoes. Hands down, the worst food we have had among our visits in Key West and possibly the worse seafood I've ever tried to eat. The paella was not edible. You could not chew the shrimp, lobster, mussels, and sausage. The chicken nachos appetizers was the best of our experience (Comparable to nachos with cheese at a concession stand). Really impressed with this place. Walked in casually around 9:15 on a Saturday (they close at 10). Got a table quickly and waiter came by within a minute or two. Drinks came quickly as well. I ordered the "tuna tower" appetizer as my meal and BF got a shrimp salad. Both were fantastic. The appetizer size for a small person is more than enough as a meal-with crab, ahi tuna, tomato, cucumber, rice, avocado, and something else-I forget. It was fantastic. It's so tall and pretty you don't want to eat it. It's definitely an "Instagram food" and I never do that. It comes with a baby orchid on it for crying out loud! BF was raving about his shrimp salad and it was so big that he didn't even finish it-HE DIDNT FINISH A SALAD. It was enormous. And delicious. So colorful and fresh. The mango poppyseed dressing was out of this world! I really recommend this place, the service and the food were both excellent. The prices were also reasonable, and they weren't so busy hat we were forgotten. Keep in mind we also came late at night so it may be busier during normal dinner hours, but I would absolutely come here again. What a happy accident :) read more

Then they were out of the bottle of wine we selected. We were thrilled when the waitress recommended a replacement bottle at 2x the price! The food was amazing. The service was horrible. It all started when we called asking if we were able to bring the filleted fish we caught for a cook & catch, they asked us to wait on the phone to confirm and they finally said yes. We arrived and we believe it was a manager that said that they couldn't do it because they had a large unexpected party come in. He went to the back, supposedly call his general manager, he came back saying that they will be able to do it as long as the fish was filleted. He even handed me a hook to cook menu, and the cost was $35 per person. We decided not to do it and ordered from their regular menu. Their food was amazing, but again, the service was horrible. We received our appetizers and our entrées all at once and it barely fit on the table. The plates piled up on the table as we finished, they never picked up the plates, even as we tried to wave someone down. They never refilled our water. Finally the same manager came and we asked him if he could pick up the plates for us because we have no space on the table. We waited a while longer and ask someone for the check, we had to waive them down, they never came to ask us if we were OK. When it was time to check out, the waitress hovered over my shoulder for a tip. The customer service is ridiculous and it stems from the top down. They need a lot of help. read more

Mangoes is a regular stop when we are in Key West. The atmosphere is great, food is very good and the service is usually good also. Simon was our server and was very good. My one issue with this lunch was that I ordered a Mangorita (too sweet - I have them in the past and they were better) for myself and a virgin Mangorita for my daughter. I paid $12 for mine and $12 for the virgin drink. How is that equitable? Any other places we ate or drank charged half of the price for virgin cocktails. Came here tonight for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the calamari which is a MUST some of the best I have ever had!!! Then we ordered the bruschetta which blew us away both incredible. This Restaurant is super cute and has a great patio right on Duvall street! We will definitely be back. There was an elderly man wearing nothing but a tiny thong at the bar and after seeing that I lost my appetite. Ordered anyway because we were exhausted and starving. Drinks horribly watered down. Food not good at all. I realize it is key West but it wasn't during a parade or festival of any kind and he was just all elderly and hanging out. It didn't seem busy (maybe it was between shift or maybe the guy was having a bad day) but there were plenty of other servers and they were all very nice. LOVED this place. Dominica is awesome, awesome, awesome!! She totally got me and didn't blink an eye when I asked her for a glass of ice and a glass of tea with no ice after she told me they only had unsweetened tea. That way I could put sugar in my tea to dissolve before pouring over ice. I had the sirloin, shrimp, rice & plantain special. Steak was perfectly medium, as u requested. Shrimp was a little tough, rice, beans and plantain quite tasty. My partner had the mahi mahi that he said was great. You have to try the mango-colada. I usually don't like writing bad reviews but didn't like the attention the our server gave us. The restaurant was not busy at all at the time we got there. The waiter seemed zoned out. We were excited to go for a romantic dinner. The hostess was really friendly. The waiter took our app order and the apps arrived before he decided to bring the app plates so we just ate our apps from the same plate. No big deal rather not dirty thise plates anyways but at least be more aware. We werent done with the apps and the main course arrived so we felt rushed. Again it wasnt busy at that time. We were enjoying our meal till my wife found a long hair in her fish. Very upsetting. The small bars were better. read more

Strolled into Mangoes for an early, pre-booze-cruise dinner (vacation is tough) and had a pretty tasty time. We sat down around 4pm, so Mangoes was still serving lunch. That was no problem, though the shorter lunch menu did make things a bit trickier for the vegetarian in the group. We had the crab cake sandwich, cheeseburger, snapper sandwich, and the island wrap (with most items substituted for our resident veg). The crab cake sandwich was very good, as was the snapper sandwich. And while I didn't try the burger or the wrap, I heard they were pretty tasty as well. The service was doting and the outdoor seating was a major plus; gotta love people-watching on vacation. Overall, Mangoes is a decent option if you're looking for a casual dinner on Duval. read more

Stopped in for the first time for lunch today. Our first time in Key West. Liked what they had on the menu, so gave it a try. I had the Cuban and my husband had the blackened fish tacos. I have been here on 2 separate occasions. First time, food was ok. service was slow but they were busy so I took that in consideration. 2nd time i was here they were not busy it was 2-3 in the afternoon hostess sat us. we waited 15 minutes for a server. We had several servers walk by and look at us and say nothing. While some were standing on side chatting. It took the hostess that long to finally say something as we were getting up to leave. Bottom line first: Great place, great food, great setting. We have been here twice now. Both time the food was fantastic. Key west is a place that is filled with all kinds of places to get good food. Mangoes sits near the top of the pile. The food is clasic and inventive, well prepared, and oh so good. The service we had this last visit was not that good, but I think it was a case of the wrong waiter on the wrong night. Service at other tables seemed to be just fine. If you are walking down Duval Street and just need a place to pull over for a drink or quick eats, this is the right place to go. Menu is decent though nothing I would go out of my way for while in Key West. Appetizers did not disappoint, including their spring rolls and edamame coated with sesame oil, lemon and sea salt! 8 girls at dinner and no one was disappointed in their entree. The lamb was excellent and highly recommended. It is also recommended that you order and fresh fih/seafood of the day. The bar is big enough to hold a large party (we were a party of 8 and never had problems finding seats) and there are fans overhead to cool you down. Service is excellent. Staff is on top of things. Friendliness helps too. Pros: easy place to pull over to drink and eat outdoors. Well shaded. Good staff. Clean bathroom. Cons: mixed drinks were hit or miss. Some drinks were made strong while others were made too weak, as made from the same bartender. I ordered a dirty martini with gorgonzola stuffed olives, as described in the cocktail list, but didn't get the it. You have to ask the bartender to make the olives. read more

I ordered the seared tuna appetizer. for $14 you get two small pieces of tuna on a gigantic plate filled with starchy crispy rice noodles that taste like packing peanuts. i wish i just had a bowl of gazpacho, the only good thing anyone got at this place. the server took forever to get to us and when he did, he brought us everything in the wrong order. we got our drinks after we got our entrees. nobody ever came over to see how we were doing while we waited or ate. i only give the place two stars because the waiter was kind enough to recognize what a terrible job he was doing and offer us free dessert, which we declined because we couldnt imagine enjoying it. its also a nice spot. outdoor seating right on duval street where you can watch the crazies go by. read more

We stopped at Mangoe's on our first day in Key West...and boy, was this a fabulous place! My family and I came here for lunch & all got something different, but equally yummy :) I got the Ham & Cheese sandwich...which was probably the best sandwich I've ever had! It had a delicious sweet sauce, and it came with fries and a salad. My husband got a burger, and my mom got bruschetta. All looked amazing! Great outdoor dining space with a fun atmosphere. We didn't have the best experience. There was no line/it wasn't full, but we had to wait about 10 minutes before a waiter noticed we were standing there and came over to seat us. It took another 10 minutes for the waitress to come over. The drinks and food were good. Two of us ordered rice bowls and a third ordered the chimichurri steak. The steak was ordered medium but was served well done. Prices were the norm for Duval St. read more

3.5 Stars Dear Mangoes, On a spontaneous whim, in celebration of a few events, the bf and I ended up taking a leisurely drive all the way down to Key West. Famished from the drive, we checked into the hotel only to find that their restaurant was already closing for the day. What to do, we pondered? I think at that point, our stomachs were speaking louder than our voices! So off we went, back in the car, on an adventure to find some grub. I figured our best bet was Duval Street, so we headed directly that way. We found some metered parking right off the strip and began our walk to find food and sight-see in the process. We passed a few places but none of them really caught our attention until we found you, Mangoes. :) The restaurant seemed to be mostly outdoors with some awnings covering up around the side. The tables all had umbrellas and the feel was very tropical and yet casual. They had some nice music playing and there were just a couple of tables. Perfect! The hostess sat us at a table basically on Duval Street which was fantastic for people watching and entertainment. Once seated we started with a bottle of wine before the waiter even had a chance to say his name. We chose a nice bottle of Estancia Pinot Noir, which we asked them to chill since it was rather warm out (red wine should be at room temperature in France, which is about 60 degrees Fahrenheit). We were also served some nice warm bread and crackers, with oil to dip, which was really tasty. Wanting to get straight to dinner, we went ahead and ordered. I chose a snapper dish that had mango and passion fruit on it. It was so tasty and delicious that I wanted to lick the plate clean. The bf chose a Crab Cake sandwich that was very tasty. There was nice amounts of crab in each cake, and not too much of the bread filling. We were rather satisfied with our meal and enjoyed the experience of dining on Duval.
