    breakfast served all day

This is my third visit to a Manhattan Bagel store in the past few weeks. They all look basically the same, both in substance and cleanliness. Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. The bagels were all decent, but not in the pantheon of great New York style rounders. So, it is somewhat surprising that they use the name of the city that made bagels famous, because they fall far short of that standard. Yet, they are good enough to satisfy my breakfast hunger, even if not epic. My onion bagel with veggie cream cheese was tasty and chewy, with a slightly crisp skin. The spread was ample, if not over the top generous. Their coffee was good, with a few alternatives between House Blend, Bold, fruity and decaf. Certainly, caffeinated to wake me up and keep me focused. The only real issue worth noting was the inconsistent experience offered by the three shops visited in this area. They looked the same, and the cream cheese was enjoyable across the board, but the freshness and texture alternated between right on target with crisp outer surface and softer texture within; and a chew that suggested the bagel was not as fresh (although purchased and eaten an approximately the same time), and may have been from a batch made earlier in the day. When it comes to out of the oven bagels, even a few hours more exposed to the environment can mean an aging that is noticeable. So it was with these samples. Today's was the least fresh, while smeared with the most cream cheese. Perhaps that was not an accident.

Order an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese and tomato. Instead I got a plain bagel not toasted with tomato. Called back to inform the gentleman my order was wrong and he asked me if I could make for them to remake it. Unfortunately I could not as I need to go to work so his response was my bad.

Love the service & bagels here. A little too much if you know what I mean. . . My husband almost always gets the Ranchero wrap. I enjoy all the varieties including the chocolate chip. They have just about any type of soft drink, juice or coffee you could want. I never liked cream cheese until I had their garlic & herb kind. Now I'm addicted. The ladies that work here in the morning work miracles when it's crowded. And they're super pleasant.

Is this where I scream, " Oh my gosh, I can not believe that I have not reviewed this place! I have been in here at least 67 times!" Or is this where I say, " Okay it's a chain..." when you already know that? Nah, I'm not going to say any of that, but what I will say is, short of driving to NYC to find an awesome bagel, Manhattan Bagels are pretty good and they do boil and bake them daily. Surely they have over a dozen and one half different varieties and although I have not tried them all I love the rye, garlic, jalapeno & cheddar, the onion, the everything is awesome and has most of the herbs, onions and peppers, the cinnamon raisin when I'm feeling sweet and topped with gobs of butter is so good. They also have a nice variety of cream cheese spreads and my faves are the garlic and herb, the strawberry is so good on a sesame or salted bagel, wash this down with a strawberry & cream frozen drink. And the Tijuana hot cream cheese on a jalapeno & cheddar bagel is amazing and probably my favorite at the moment. I often have the lox and lox cream cheese spread, a slice of tomato and more red onions please, they are always chintzy with the onions, this combo is also great on the salted bagel. I like the vegetable and the scallion spreads too. We may as well call Manhattan Bagel a restaurant since they have a breakfast menu with wraps, bagel breakfast sandwiches with eggs, cheese, ham, bacon, pork roll or sausage, they even have an egg white only option, you can opt out of the bagel in exchange for one of their toasted focaccia breads. Seeing we are here, they have a Philly egg sandwich with you guessed it grilled onion, shaved steak, cheese and egg... I need to try this one. You do know they have cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, fresh fruit cups and yogurt with granola and muffins, right? Their lunch menu has something for everyone from soups, many salad choices, and sandwiches made on fresh baked plain, cheddar, sesame or can you say Asiago rolls? Any sandwich can be made on a bagel or the focaccia as well or you can have a wrap. I'm not about to list all the sandwich choices but do try their grilled chicken salad one day either on top of a salad or on one of their awesome rolls. For drinks they serve hot or iced coffees, hot or iced teas, lemonade, juices, lattes galore, mochas, yogurt drinks and fruit smoothies. Check this out and I do love it although I wish they had a plain flour tortilla to wrap this all in as the honey wheat tortilla is good, but a bit sweet for my taste when it comes to being filled with three scrambled eggs, bacon, melted Monterey jack cheese, ancho salsa and the Tijuana hot cream cheese. Catch you later, I'm on my way to get one now along with a caramel latte! Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners? Can I bring you anything back?

My dad's 80th birthday is coming up and he loves good olive oil, cheese, pasta, and prosciutto. If you do too - then Roma's is your spot! Service was very friendly and efficient. I walked out with soppressata from the Bronx - the type you'd see hanging in an old school deli. Also some Buffalo mozzarella, Aged prosciutto sliced nice and thin, house made sausage, Olive oil that was Sicilian and not Tuscan (but highly recommended by the deli guy), some house made ravioli, manicotti and stuffed shells, marinara and vodka sauce, impulse buy lamb chops and an Italian sub. Of course I also got the parmigano reggiano, asiago, AND they have scamorza cheese AKA "scamutz!" If you've never heard of scamutz, it's like a cross between mozzarella and provolone. There's a bar in hazleton, PA that makes pizza with it. Very good. Seems somewhat hard to find in my part of NJ but maybe I don't look hard enough. Only thing I forgot was bread. Hey I'm a 'medigan - forgive me. If you aren't sure what's good, just ask them. Staff is very kind and helpful. Sure I spent a couple Benjamin's and a Grant, but we can't take it with us and memories last forever. I'm glad Roma's is around to play a part in the memories we will make for my father's special day. Here's to many more for him, and for this fine purveyor of Italian delicacies!

Our not-so-great experience may have been a result of the choices we made, but I'm unsure. When you first enter you are in front of a nicely stocked meat counter, loaded with different deli meats. To the left is a dining area with a sign stating "seat yourself". The place is a bit dated with a nice casual vibe. We were greeted by a server who gave us menus and took our drink orders. Service was top notch. When it came time to order I asked how the pastrami was. Server replied "the best". Ok I'll take a pastrami sandwich, my wife a corned beef. The server also asked if we wanted pickles and tomatoes which I said yes. She quickly brought a little bowl, which I chopped up and we enjoyed. The sandwiches came out and these things could've come from a school cafeteria honestly. A minimal amount of cold, sliced meat along with a small bag of chips was unimpressive. What happened to the warm, thick cut, juicy meat sandwich you could barely get your mouth around that we expected? We looked at each other thinking WTF? No sooner did we notice a sign on the wall "NY style, thick cut pastrami and corned beef NOW AVAILABLE" Now maybe we just don't want to accept responsibility but shouldn't the server have asked if that's what we wanted? Anyway we left hungry and saddened by our $48 experience. Def not worth it.

I had a smaller of breakfast meats, omelet, Rueben for lunch and mozzarella sticks. Everything was cooked well. They have the nice and thin sausage patties. I was surprised at the size of the sausage links. Cooked well for the size. They have thick cut bacon, which is surprising. The potatoes were crisp and they do have the option for well done. The Rueben was stacked with corned beef. The coleslaw wasn't saturated with mayonnaise like a lot are. Overall recommend!

This place has me questioning, as if I hadn't already - the TikTok influencers, because this place really was not worthy of the praise TikTok has given it. We are headed over to Trevose on the advice of TikTok (hanging my head in shame) to grab a cheesesteak and a slice. The pizza is boasted to be baked on a stone. I'm not sure if that is what caused it to be what it was. It felt like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be.. too thin it to rise into that soft pillowy chew, yet not quite crisp enough to stand proudly on its own. It was the middle child of pizza doughs. Quiet, polite, and easy to over look. The sauce. It was sauce. Not quite to my palate. It was very sweet and reminiscent of Hunts canned sauce. Now the pepperoni, the pepperoni was on point the perfect crispy curly edges with just the right amount of grease puddled within. Onto the cheese steak. When you're talking about Philly steaks it really isn't hard to go wrong but sometimes you have to understand too much of a good thing - is too much of a good thing. There was way too much cheese to the ratio of meat, the meat was chopped way too much, and the gloppy mess was more than the roll could hold. As I'm writing this, I have a little bit of guilt because the guy behind the counter was a true gem super happy, proud and welcoming. If the food had half of his spirit of this guy, this could've easily been a 4 Star place. So next time you're scrolling the ol ticky-tocky. Try and think about why the influencers rave so high. Does it look staged and filmed? What do they have to gain by making that video? Would you really give a bad review to someone giving you a free lunch?
