I have visited this office twice now and no major complaints. They are quick and efficient. They get booked fairly quickly so you have to stay on top of your appointment time. I did take a star off because today I got hit with a $10 PPE fee after my appointment. I don't actually mind the fee and it is nominal however as many times as they send reminders they should mention the new fee. read more

I wouldn't return here or recommend to a friend. The dentist was nice, but I often felt rushed. I've been to other dental office that are a bit more warm-spirited... and that provide a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss after a cleaning-- this place doesn't. These guys are the most careless, jaded, and unprofessional dentists I've ever visited. In all fairness, I've had nice experiences with the hygienists, who are careful and attentive. My visits with the dentists themselves--I've seen both Dr. Kushner and Dr. Rifkin--always seemed very pro forma. They would take a quick look and a poke and pronounce me fine. Their examination would literally take less than thirty seconds. As I said, though, I tolerated them because it was a hassle to switch and the hygienists were fine. Then the BS started--first with my wife. I don't want to go into too many details, but I'll say that she went in for a sensitive operation while she was pregnant. They needed to give her a local anesthetic, but applied it poorly, so they had to give her more than they needed to, which of course stressed us out. (We didn't want the fetus to take that much medicine.) Later she came in with another problem--I don't want to say what--and they told her that she should just "see if it got worse," because it seemed that they didn't want to redo the work they'd already done. We had several other similar experiences with them. One other small note: I schedule appointments at their last available slot during the day, because like many people, I have a job, and want to miss as little work as possible. Every single time I have an appointment--every time!--they have their office manager call and ask me about moving the appointment earlier, probably because they want to leave earlier. I just don't understand why they give me appointments that they don't want to honor in the first place. Any one of our experiences is explicable in isolation, but together, they paint a picture of two dentists who really couldn't be bothered to advocate for or worry about their patients. read more

Horribly rude over the phone. I asked "Do you accept insurance X", and apparently to answer that question she needed all my info, my husbands info, everything repeated because she mistyped the id number, then after five minutes on the phone the dentist "just informed her they're not accepting new patients". It's a simple question yes or no question of whether your office accepts a certain insurance. I didn't need to waste my time, provide personal information, and have someone act condescending only to tell me, after FINALLY finding me in the insurance system, that they're not accepting new patients. For all I know their actual dentist might be great, but if it means dealing with this receptionist I certainly won't be trying them again ever. read more

I don't live or work around there anymore but will continue coming here because I love the service of the front desk staff and the hygienists. This is not one of those offices where the doctor is overbooked and you are waiting a half hour to be seen. You wait like 3 minutes and you are called in. One of the best dentist experiences I have had--the hygienist was very knowledgeable and gentle with my teeth, and the dentist took time to listen and respond to my concerns. They were pretty flexible about scheduling and called me to remind me of the appointment. And I thought the office was perfectly clean. Best of all, the entire staff was fair, honest, and understanding about dealing with insurance and payments. They conversed with me about everything--making sure I wouldn't be personally responsible for fillings or x-rays by pre-authorizing everything with my insurance. Everyone here is super helpful and knowledgeable. I never have to wait, even when I am a little early. I recently got my teeth cleaned and the hygienist was friendly and thorough. She took the time to explain every little thing to me. (Which is good because I tend to ask a lot of questions and she wasn't bothered with me at 7:45AM!) Dr. Kushner is so nice and caring. He takes the time to explain everything before he does anything. He's attentive to any pain I might experience and acts quickly. I highly recommend this practice. I'm so disheartened by my recent experience here. I had been a patient for 12 years, and the hygienists are consistently thorough, kind, and gentle. However, I recently had to have a filling replaced. The dentist must have hit a nerve when he administered the injection, because I couldn't blink my eye or move half of my face for 3 hours. While the assistant was very kind and reassuring, the dentist (whom I've known for years) was brusque and dismissive when I expressed my concerns. I'm writing this review because I absolutely feel so disrespected by one of the staff there name Christine. I got a call today to inform me I will have to pay $220 for a crown. I asked why do I have to pay Bc I had the same thing done at another dentist office with no fee. The young lady I 1st spoke with said that they take partial payment (she put me hold). Christine gets on and explained to me the $220 is for the temporary crown not the actual crown. Then she tells me if I don't want to pay I can go somewhere else. I explained to her that statement was very unprofessional and I do know I have other options. I wasn't rude I simply had a question on what I will be paying for. She continues on saying the same thing and I repeat to her she's very unprofessional. Christine tells me I don't understand your attitude so what you want to do. At this point I hung up on her and called back to cancel my appointment. The young lady I originally spoke apologized on Christine's behalf and explained she's New so she put her on the phone to better assist me. I asked her did she feel I was being rude or if my tone was rude. She said no you simply asked a question and again she's sorry. She shouldn't have to apologize for her coworkers rudeness. I had 2 visits here and I loved the dental hygienist and the Dentist but that rude young lady put a bad taste in my mouth with her attitude and disrespect. The money wasn't the issue I just wanted to know what I was paying for. I will not be going back here, the people at the front desk is a representation of you and the practice. As a person who fears the dentist, I can confidently assert that MDA is the most enjoyable medical practice I visit. My dental hygienist is lovely, light-hearted, gentle and thorough, and my dentist is always happy. Everything at MDA is clean, comfortable, and most importantly, reliable. The office is extremely organized, and has an amazing system of notifying you about upcoming appointments. I have referred family members and three friends to this practice, and each of them has continued to share MDA with people in search of a wonderful dental practice. My dental hygienist here is great. Very good at what she does, and great attitude. The front staff are friendly as well. The dentist is good too. Not so crazy about this practice. The office is OK and very convenient but kind of dirty. It was really difficult to get the doctor to explain anything to me or to take the time to answer my questions, which was frustrating since I had a pretty complicated case that resulted in a root canal. I made an appointment to see the dentist because my old dentist was incompetent. My chipped tooth needed to be refilled twice in two years. This is why I went to Dr. Kushner. I would recommend Manhattan Dental Associates to anyone looking for a new dentist. I was able to make an appointment without any delays. The receptionist was polite and courteous. I had a chipped tooth that needed filling which was done very professionally. Dr. Kushner even took a full set of X-rays since it had been about a year since I saw a dentist. He was very thorough in doing my intake and doing a medical history--something my previous dentist did not do. Upon finishing filling my tooth I was reminded that I should schedule a cleaning with the hygienist. The office was clean and the staff was very attentive to me and my questions. They explained everything to me as they were doing it. Overall great first impressions. Lets see if the filling stays In place longer than it did for my old dentist. read more

I've been going here for several years and am still very satisfied with it. The entire staff is the friendliest and most organized of any doctor's office I've been to. I've never waited more than a few minutes after arriving and never had a problem getting in on short notice for an unplanned visit. I have never had any health provider -- GP, internist, eye doctor, anyone -- be as professional, personable, and downright great at their job as Dr. Rifkin and his staff. They are always thorough and explain patiently what's going on with my gums, x-rays, possible future issues, etc. (My wisdom teeth are a mess, and I don't floss :( ). They are always personable. They always help me navigate insurance -- my personal version of hell. And they're always on time. How can you ask for anything more? And I speak from experience -- after my insurance temporarily changed, I had to go to a new dentist, who *showed up* 1 1/2 hours late and acted as if I was demanding (he wasn't very good, either). So I went to another, who diagnosed me with a cavity I DID NOT HAVE. So I called Dr. Rifkin and asked if I could come in for his second opinion, and he said "of course", and he didn't charge me for the visit. Please, don't be deterred by the jerks who appear to have left a few nasty, vindictive reviews. I'm confident they say more about the *patients* than the doctors, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Go see Dr. Rifkin. You'll never see anyone else ever again. read more
