My husband and I were craving authentic NY pizza and Manhattan Pie did not disappoint! The special supreme was excellent, just the right amount of crisp to the crust, very flavorful sauce and generous with the toppings! We learned that everything is made in house and ingredients are locally sourced. We had an opportunity to visit with Madhu, the owner. Madhu was quite charming and very hospitable. Don't skip dessert! The tiramisu was off the chain good! The restaurant is quaint and has murals painted by a COLA artist which adds a touch of local flair. We will absolutely be back and look forward to working our way through the menu.

Manhattan Pie was a cool little pizza place, and as somebody who's been to New York City a couple of times, the pizza did seem to be pretty authentic. The way the restaurant's set up, you can either walk in and place a to-go order, or sit down and be served like a regular customer, which is kind of a novel concept (at least for the area). There were several "we're hiring" signs outside of the joint, and I got the impression that they might be short-staffed, as they only had one lady working as a waitress, and servicing all of the tables. She did a fantastic job, but there's only so much that one (1) person can do. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza, mozzarella sticks, and a drink, which were pretty good, but nothing mind-blowing. I was also a little taken aback that this relatively small meal came out to about $20 after tipping my server, as it felt like a small meal, not something that was extremely filling. As for the ambiance, I did really like the artwork on the walls, in particular the large homage to the Manhattan skyline on one of them. All-in-all, Manhattan Pie was alright, but if I were to go again, I'd probably stop in, grab a slice, and go, rather than choosing the sit-down option. I will come back in the future to see if they've worked out some of the kinks, however!

My son found this place for us. Being from CA we were missing finding an authentic NY pizza shop. This place was amazing. Snall spot downtown, of course you pay for parking. Food came out fast. It was authentic and crust held up with the cheese. I have zero complaints. Service was alright, servers seemed young. Place gave like a bar kinda place. The art on the wall was nice.

One piece of supreme and one slice of meatball and ricotta - both tasty!

Great option for by-the-slice NY style pizza in Columbia. (They also have whole pizzas and lots of other options.) It appears to be family owned and operated, and they're very friendly and customer oriented. Got two slices of pizza for a quick lunch on a Sunday and the price was great: $13.43, before tip. I like that is a very casual, laid back place. Pizza was tasty, and I liked there were so many by the slice options. I will be back!

Customer service is great, family friendly with Delicious menu for kids as well. Slice of the BBQ Chicken, Bacon, Pepper is Sweet savory and the crust was crispy and delicious. Nothing running, cheesy good...!!! Must have ..! Great back ground music, peaceful outing to enjoy family and friends

Manhattan pie has been on my radar for a bit and I found the perfect opportunity to have a mommy and son lunch date here. Service was great and we were able to seat ourselves, menus came out shortly after. Being it was a lunch date I let my son figure out what we should order. We started with a basket of mozzarella sticks and then did a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was perfection- thin crust with a crunch but also still soft and chewy. Amazing pizza and staff, will def be back to try more.

Parking is beyond crazy. It is located on a super busy street. That is the ONLY reason why I am not giving it 5 stars. Now to the food. I had the stuffed all-meat pizza. Now, when I went into the restaurant, the garlic knots were staring at me, so I ended up grabbing an order of those as well. Normally, I pride myself on eating like 2-3 slices of pizza in one sitting. I was barely able to finish one. The toppings were amazing, the gnotts were divine, and I will 100% come back here again.

We ordered the 12 inch supreme, as well as the meat lovers and they were absolutely amazing in the picture that I posted that was the aftermath of the meat lovers and it was completely eaten. The owner of the place came up to us and asked how we were enjoying our meal and asked how we learned about this place and was very kind man. The overall vibe is nice good music playing the whole time as well as good paintings on the walls to look at while you eat.

    Buffalo sauce where....?

Pretty disappointed. Ordered the buffalo chicken pizza.... Wondering where the buffalo sauce is. It's just oily cheese with some chunks of chicken and the faintest essence of buffalo sauce on the crust..... Like the La Croix of Buffalo sauce.

This is a new spot in downtown Columbia that my NY born and raised coworker insisted we try for lunch. They are currently still on a soft opening so the entire menu isn't yet available, but we went for pizza and they had plenty of options on hand. My coworker was impressed with her pizza and was thrilled to see they also offered Zeppoles, which she ordered online as we sat in the restaurant and ate. This place is already very popular, as evidenced by the long line of patrons that came in during our time there. The pizza slices are definitely large and are of NY quality. Very delicious, and very meaty, were my meatlovers slices. The staff is still relatively new, so the lines move a bit slow, but it is definitely worth thae short wait. Highly recommend this spot for NY pizza lovers.

Heard great things about this place and have been wanting to give it a try for a while because good pizza by the slice is hard to find in Columbia. Did not disappoint and I didn't even get the slices. My husband had a calzone, which is his go-to every time we head out for pizza. It came out much faster than they usually do and he said it was one of the best he's ever had. The vibe was great, didn't feel like a dive bar like some other pizza places in town do, and the service was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be back.

My experience was great getting some gourmet slices the other day. The slice it had were very flavorful and fresh tasting. Can't wait to try other traditional pizzas like the Sicilian soon !

Manhattan Pie just opened last week and our ROMEO group of 8 have been wanting to try some NY Pizza for some time. We were here today and arrived about 11:20. They had one waitress, the owner/manager, and I think two other workers in the back. They have tables and chairs set up around the walls and have a long counter where you can sit and eat. In the rear they have a counter for taking orders. The soft drinks are coke/diet coke and canned soda. They have only sweet or unsweetened tea and do not have half-and-half tea. The menu for pizza is quite a variety and they also have some sides and pasta dishes along with salads. The eight of us ordered a whole variety of pizzas. From basic cheese, margherita, and build your own. We mostly ordered small pizzas with a couple of medium. Our waitress had a tough time getting our 8 orders straight and went around the table several times checking to make sure she had it right. It was only her second day working there and I could see how our group with all of the different types and sizes would be an issue for her. I ordered small cheese, onion, sausage and pepperoni pizza plus I asked for a medium cheese, onion, mushroom and pepperoni pizza to be made for me to take home. My wife and I were planning on having that for dinner the following night. It took a while to make the pizzas but the owner brought out the first two. We all were totally surprised at the size of the pizzas. They told us they were small (12") but they looked more like a medium to us. When the mediums came out they almost looked like a large. All eight of us were surprised at how large the pizzas looked. Our problem started when the owner brought out the first two pizzas. The Margherita pizza was basically just a cheese pizza. Apparently they didn't have any basil. Then he brought out a couple of plain cheese pizzas. One of our members had left the table and he brought out a pizza that none of us ordered and he said "I'm sure it was for the guy that went to the restroom" and left it in front of him. I had ordered a small pizza and they brought out a medium pizza...with toppings I didn't order. I could go on and on but the bottom line is there was so much confusion with who got what that half of us were waiting or trying to tell them what we'd ordered. The waitress surely had it written down when she took the order...but somewhere between her, the cook and the manager things got screwed up. One guy orderded Ziti with Garlic knots. The ziti had very little sauce and he didn't care for it....had lots of cheese. The garlic knots were excellent. The pizza was good. Several of us liked it...good cheese, crust was lightly browned and crispy enough to eat "New Your Style" like a pie. Some didn't care much for the sauce, but the cheese was good. I was hesitant to go to this restaurant because they really haven't had much time to get things running smoothly. I don't think they had any salads, or at least the anti pasta salad. Food was good, just a bad day for them on the service end (not the waitress fault), but management. I must say they did correct every thing that went wrong. They even had a medium cheese only pizza that they brought out for us that nobody ordered. Hopefully in a month or so they can get it together. We'll probably go back later on in the year and see if they've improved. Our group rating for Manhattan Pie was a 3.3.

I visited the Gyromania Grill at 2558 Main Street in Elgin…read morefor lunch today (First Time) and I was totally enthralled & impressed with the restaurant, the food, and the staff. Having moved down to South Carolina six years ago, & given the hyper local establishments nearby my home that offer something I can only say somewhat passes for a gyro sandwich, Gyromania Grill far exceeded my expectations, and passion for an Authentic gyro, the kind I recall from up in New York yonder. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, and was greeted by Sheila, to receiving my Hummus appetizer with pita bread triangles, to receiving my Gyro pita sandwich, I couldn't believe how authentically tasty & delicious the food was. The food is prepared fresh on the spot, nothing laying around in heating hampers, from the french fries that are cut fresh daily, and fried when ordered, to the veggies that garnish the Gyro, to the freshly prepared tzatziki, my taste buds exploded with excitement at how delicious everything tasted. Honestly, I never expected to have that sensation of a well prepared Gyro the likes of what I recalled from NY, down here in S.C. but alas, I found *THE* spot for authentic, Great tasting Greek food. The restaurant itself is bright, open, VERY CLEAN! (I mean, Extreme Clean!) You can tell the employees take pride in presenting the establishment and the food they serve in the spotlight. Watching the staff behind the counter prepare the food, I noted how friendly and happy everyone was, no "fanny frowner /why am I here" faces, and compared to oh so many other food establishments I've been to, that impressed me a lot. I originally was going to order the lemon potatoes with my gyro, but they weren't prepared when I ordered, yet once they were, Sheila and her assistant surprised me by bringing by a little sample for me to taste, so next time I come in, I will absolutely enjoy them with my order, but the greek seasoned fries that came with my Gyro were trey`delicious just the same! The restaurant atmosphere is nice, I got there right before the lunch crowd, so it wasn't too crowded, I'm told sometimes the place can get really packed (no doubt, people enjoy eating delicious & tasty food, & Gyromania Grill delivers that!) The portions are decent, the prices very reasonable, the staff is friendly, and even if you have to drive a little out of the way to get there (as I did) it's well worth the effort. I Absolutely WILL BE Returning again in the very near future, and look forward to sharing the Gyromania Grill experience with folks I know will appreciate how authentic and well prepared this food is. ***** 5-STARS ***** For Cleanliness, Quality, Service & Value! Put Gyromania on your bucket list of places to visit for a great meal! You won't regret it. `JT

However, I have found our family to be that of unconventional thinkers, so instead of finding a typical after-church dining locale, we went to the pinnacle of consumerism and capitalism--Haywood Mall. Mrs. W. and I had agreed that finding a place for Baby W. to play before or after eating was important, which also was a factor in where to go after learning about our friend and savior, Jesus Christ. The mall recently renovated its play place to include flashing lights, metal slides, and apparently, almost all of Greenville's population under 2. I had heard of Great Wraps and by that I mean I had briefly seen the sign above their food court booth on my way to the amply-hidden restrooms in the back corner of the food court, but I felt today was the day I would try their cuisine. After snapping Baby W.'s chair to a sturdy table, and after Mrs. W. returned with a plate of Thai food she paid $1.50 too much for (her words), I eagerly sprinted to the Great Wraps booth to give it a try. Great Wraps offers a large variety of wraps, although I wouldn't say their variety is great. Chicken something, chicken something else, and more chicken something. But then, there it was ... falafel hummus wrap. My love of falafel goes back to the Bush administration, enjoying those savory balls of chickpeas at the Pita House while avoiding returning to my paying job. I don't know what else is in falafel, but I can only assume it's addictive because I've always wanted more, but I am too lazy to use Google to learn to make my own. The falafel at Great Wraps is neither spherical nor likely fresh, but it is fried, which meets one of the requirements for it being falafel. During the construction of my wrap, I was asked by the helpful young chap who appeared to be knowledgable about wrap construction if I wanted my wrap "spicy." I've had some questionable experiences with spicy food (looking at you Dragon Den), but felt brave and ready to make the attempt again, so I let the young man know I would take him up on his generous offer to enhance my flavor journey. Several other identifiable ingredients later, my wrap was completed and distributed to me for immediate consumption. I added a little of the available shaker spices to my wrap for extra danger and begun consumption. I was pleased with the result. I let Mrs. W. know next time we ate post-religious ceremony Sunday lunch at our local indoor shopping center, I would likely give Great Wraps additional business. Her immediate response of, "OK," brought forth confidence I've not seen since the prior day when I committed to "spicy" over "non-spicy" at the local Dragon Den.

That is legitimately the simple truth of it all. There is not much along the route in general, and really your options for a food stop are limited to what you can find in the Rockingham or Laurinburg area. Getting something that is not fast food, takes a little bit of advanced planning and a significant roll of the dice. Thankfully we have Yelp to guide us. I found this simple lunch spot on the app before leaving Greensboro, and plugging it into our GPS, it simply required us taking one of the "old" routes through Rockingham and Hamlet. These days there is a highway bypass that totally avoids the traffic lights that cause delays in that area. We decided it was worth a 10 minute detour to get something else, and we chose Caleb's. A little hole in and old shopping center near the Wal-Mart. Honestly, wouldn't have it any other way. If a place can focus on the food and do it well, I don't need ambience. We started with some of their collard green egg rolls, and I like this choice for the menu. It's really not difficult to make an egg roll, and that crispy shell is one of life's most simple pleasures. The greens on the inside were tender and tasty, and we both enjoyed the sweet chili sauce dip. For lunch I went with their steak philly on texas toast with home chips. Given the price of the sandwich, I was happy with the size and the flavor, it was just enough to satiate me. The chips were nice and crispy, but both of us agreed they were exceptionally over-salted. The ranch dip helped (as did the remnants of the sweet chili sauce), but otherwise, it would have been too much salt. Price was very affordable, in reach for any local, and somewhat cheap by today's standard for those of us from out of town. Definitely a five star experience for what it is, where it is, and our time there. We'd stop on a future trip!
