Lil 's Maniac's (2 Tenders)
Lauren C.

Maniac's has a simple menu of mainly chicken tenders and fries. It's a casual and inexpensive spot that is good for a quick meal. It was after 12 on a Saturday and the whole family was starving. We pulled up to find plenty of parking and no line to order. It was already a win. The dining room has quite a few tables. There were always tables available during our meal. The food came out without a long wait, maybe 5-10 minutes. Employees bring the food to the table and clear the table at the end. Find silverware and napkins near the counters to order. We ordered two meals with chicken tenders and fries, the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, and the Egg Rolls. The Egg Rolls were very tasty, a fun fusion food. My husband didn't love the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, but said it wasn't bad either. The Chicken Tenders were yummy. The breading wasn't super thick and the chicken was really juicy. The fries had a crisp and a tasty seasoning. This is a good choice if you're looking for a casual meal in the area.

We absolutely love Maniac's! While we've been to the one in Brentwood several times, we typically go to the one in Mount Juliet that opened a few months ago! You cannot go wrong with this chicken! It always tastes fresh, and the batter is amazing! The chicken is always tender and comes out fresh and hot. Nothing is frozen here!! They recently added the Cajun Love Sandwich which is a Cajun seasoned grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, peppers, onions, tomato, and lettuce, and wow! What a great addition to the menu! I will 100% be getting that again. Be sure to try their H2 sauce which is a a blend of honey mustard and jalepeno! It's a bit on the spicy side, but nothing too spicy. I also love their fries! They remind me of fries I would get on the boardwalk back in Jersey! If you want a healthier option, they also do broiled tenders which I've had before. They're just as good! The Mount Juliet location has some seating, but not much. The owners of the Mt. Juliet location are the kindest and most hardworking folks out there! They are always welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend this place if you want some amazing chicken.

Battered Chicken Tenders w/ hand cut fries

Upon entering we were greeted by a smiling face, I believe her name was Brittany. Brittany was friendly and seemed to enjoy telling my buddy & I all about the menu. It was our first time but we seemed to be right at home. We both ordered the hand battered chicken tenders with hand cut fries. The fries were seasoned well. The chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Whatever they marinate it with makes it almost melt in your mouth. We both agreed that we'd return for another visit. Order at the counter, take a number and grab a seat. They will bring your food, sauces and utensils right to you.

Maniac's is tucked in a storefront behind the Costco, parking seems adequate. Very clean and neat interior. Their "thing" is chicken, so if you are interested in Chicken, good choice. Staff is extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. We got the 3 tenders with fries. I like the way Maniac's prepares their chicken, nice crispy crunchy exterior and tender chicken within. The tenders were on the smaller side, but they did give us 4 instead of 3 in recognition of such. Good solid chicken tender place.

Definitely recommend giving maniacs a try. Food is always hot and fresh. Great tenders and various delicious sauces to try... Im not a big fan of the batter of the tenders as I prefer a more crispy texture but definitely still delicious and probably healthier! I did try the egg rolls however i was not a big fan, as I love bold flavors and they were a little bland, however i loved their fries very well seasoned! The ambiance is bright and family friendly. During lunch it tends to be very very busy! So i highly suggest ordering a head of time otherwise the wait can be a little long! Definitely will be back to try more menu items...

Chicken tendies 3 pieces with honey mustard sauces

This place is awesome. Honestly pretty solid tendies with lots of sauce options. The workers were very kind and helpful. They were willing to give descriptions of the sauces that were actually helpful. The Mt Juliet location is lacking space but this one is not. Only gave 4 stars because unsure of if this is the recipe but it's kinda soggy and we like our foods super crispy. I'll still be back though cuz the fries were to die for

Great food! I forget how great their fries are here. Everything is cooked fresh and we love the sauce options. It's been a few years since the last time I was here and I took my husband on Saturday while running errands in Cool Springs. He loved it and their chipotle sauce was a hit. Definitely a hidden gem in the area!

Cajun Love Sandwich had plenty of flavor as well as good fries. I almost ordered something to take home. Perfect portion sizes. Actually fast service as well, faster than some other big name places, and you get tremendous freshness here.

Delicious food. Only recently visited though it's been on my list a long time. Tenders were fresh and cooked very well, with a light batter. Came during lunch and the place was hopping! Love the sauce choices. Lots of seating as well.

There is no comparison between Maniacs and Zaxby's tenders. Upon walking in I noticed there was plenty of seating and that it's a order and seat yourself type of restaurant. I got 5 tenders with fries and they gave me six (which I've heard they do for every order). The tenders have a seasoned thick and crispy batter with a fall apart chicken tender on the inside. I'm not sure why but the meat is unusually tender and moist. Without any sauce, these tenders are fantastic. The sauces I tried are the ranch and the H2 sauce (honey mustard type of sauce). I recommend the ranch but the H2 wasn't for me. The fries were delicious as well, they were nicely seasoned and crispy. They reminded me of a more crispy and flavorful five guy fries. The service was great and the food came out very quick. I am returning! 5/5 for me!

Service is great! Food was good. We were greeted kindly and the staff took their time explaining to us their options. We even tried their sauces! Food was good but didn't hold well taking out the food. Would recommend if your eating in!

Broiled chicken salad

Great chicken spot! My friend kept talking about this place. It was super good!! The dressings are AMAZING! Fresh and made with love. So yummy. The broiled chicken was an excellent twist. I would have like some more veggies on the salad but the dressings were really the star. The egg rolls were also good and could be a meal on their own. Also tried the battered chicken good crunch not to heavy!

This is another one of the meat + 3 places that show up on all the places to try when in the area. My wife had the mild chicken tenders with black eyed peas and mac & cheese. I didn't like the dressing as it was bland and mushy. Not flavorful at all. The green beans were decent. Our counter server was surly and didn't seem happy to be there so they lose a star for that. This spot was busy, even around 11am on a weekday! The staff was hustling to get through the line and we didn't wait long to order. The employees here were friendly and welcoming. We chose to take our food home, but there are tables if you prefer to dine in. Normally, I'd be a little worried about food safety with a cafeteria line. This spot is so busy and fresh food was constantly being put out on the line. It didn't look like any of the food was sitting for long. The meats and sides rotate by the day. The offerings by day are listed on their website. Plates can be ordered as meat only or meat plus one, two, or three sides. Veggies plates are an option. They even have a family meal option. Cobblers and pies are available for dessert. I would rate the food quality and taste at 3/5. The portions are generous for the price which is why I bumped to a 4/5. It's decent enough for a large, cheap meal. The Fried Chicken was good. It's not the best I've had, but good if you want something quick. The Chicken and Dumplings was good, a little on the soupier side. The sides were my favorite part. The Carrot Soufflé was my favorite with a sugary topping. The Squash Casserole had a nice taste. The Mashed Potatoes were creamy and buttery. The Green Beans had a nice texture and taste. Nothing here is going to be heavily seasoned, just simple flavors. The Pecan Pie was really good. I liked the crust and the flavor of the filling. The Banana Pudding was good, but not the best we've had. This is one of the few spots you'll still be able to get inexpensive takeout. A basic meal without breaking the bank!

The dining area was noticeably dirty, with multiple tables covered in visible crumbs, food, and trash, even though it wasn't busy. It made the whole experience feel uncomfortable and honestly pretty off-putting while trying to eat. This hasn't been the cleanest location on past visits but because we've been in hospitality we've tried to give some grace and have come back again, but it was especially noticeable this time. Food was mixed - the tenders were fine, but the nachos were much lighter on toppings than usual and the jalapeños, onion, and lettuce were very roughly chopped to the point I ended up picking a lot of it out. I also found a bone in my chicken, which was concerning because it was a good size. Hoping this was just an off day, but the cleanliness is something that really needs attention. For now, we might be changing up locations if we're craving Waldo's chicken.

I was really not happy with the total lack of space to exist between competing the order and th bringing it out. There was just a mob of us taking up the aisles between the bar and cashier and tables. Tables were all full, so we just stood there being in everyone else's way. As I stood there studying the menu, I realized they really only serve about five things: chicken fingers, fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and dipping sauce. That's it. No 14-page Cheesecake Factory novel to sort through. No stress. No panic. No "what are you getting?" discussions. I thought about my order for exactly 6.4 seconds and went with the 3 Finger Combo, which included four of the five menu items. Honestly, this place is perfect for kids, exhausted parents, and anyone who gets anxiety trying to order at restaurants with more than six options. After ordering, we grabbed our iced tea and headed for the condiment station, where I discovered the true MVP of the experience... ketchup ON TAP. I don't know why this impressed me so much, but it did. It felt oddly luxurious. Like a soda fountain, but for fries. The food took a few minutes, but when it arrived, it was straight-out-of-the-fryer hot. I have to admit the chicken was really good. Crispy, juicy, and worth the hype. The fries were average, the one-and-only chicken sauce was decent, and the Texas toast was surprisingly solid. Overall, I'm glad we tried it. If you have kids, love simplicity, or just want a restaurant where making a decision doesn't require a committee meeting, this place is definitely for you.
