We absolutely love Maniac's! While we've been to the one in Brentwood several times, we typically go to the one in Mount Juliet that opened a few months ago! You cannot go wrong with this chicken! It always tastes fresh, and the batter is amazing! The chicken is always tender and comes out fresh and hot. Nothing is frozen here!! They recently added the Cajun Love Sandwich which is a Cajun seasoned grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, peppers, onions, tomato, and lettuce, and wow! What a great addition to the menu! I will 100% be getting that again. Be sure to try their H2 sauce which is a a blend of honey mustard and jalepeno! It's a bit on the spicy side, but nothing too spicy. I also love their fries! They remind me of fries I would get on the boardwalk back in Jersey! If you want a healthier option, they also do broiled tenders which I've had before. They're just as good! The Mount Juliet location has some seating, but not much. The owners of the Mt. Juliet location are the kindest and most hardworking folks out there! They are always welcoming and accommodating. I don't usually gush about chicken but if this place were to allow franchises I would buy one and set it up in Atlanta! First off this place only does chicken both fried and grilled. They have basket and salad options with this. I'll be honest and tell you I have only had the fried chicken because it's one of the best I've ever had! The staff is ridiculously nice and friendly and it's no frills atmosphere is perfect. It's a completely unassuming place in a small strip mall. Ok back to the food: the chicken was incredibly moist with an amazing batter crunch. The sauces are made in house and my go to are the honey mustard and the Cajun cause I'm crazy about horseradish. There is no comparison between Maniacs and Zaxby's tenders. Upon walking in I noticed there was plenty of seating and that it's a order and seat yourself type of restaurant. I got 5 tenders with fries and they gave me six (which I've heard they do for every order). The tenders have a seasoned thick and crispy batter with a fall apart chicken tender on the inside. I'm not sure why but the meat is unusually tender and moist. Without any sauce, these tenders are fantastic. The sauces I tried are the ranch and the H2 sauce (honey mustard type of sauce). I recommend the ranch but the H2 wasn't for me. The fries were delicious as well, they were nicely seasoned and crispy. They reminded me of a more crispy and flavorful five guy fries. Rude, horrible customer service. Today I was eating at Maniacs and an employee accidentally spilled several plates of food on me. I was covered in hot sauce and french fries. The employee quickly apologized acknowledged that I was covered in sauce. A nearby male employee saw the entire incident and quickly ran to get some napkins to clean up the floor, but didn't offer me a napkin to clean myself. No one went to get a manager to explain what happened or offer me any sort of compensation. No one came to check on me or help me get cleaned up, and the female who spilled everything on me just disappeared. On my way to get new clothing, I called the restaurant to speak to the manager/owner Myron Phillips. I told him I was going to be buying a new T-shirt and pair of shorts and I would bring them the bill. Myron quickly and emphatically told me that he would not be replacing my clothing, and that I was being unreasonable. He then proceeded many times to ask me what even happened, and as I tried to explain the story to him, he continually interrupted me to say that I was being extreme and unreasonable, and that I wouldn't be happy until I received my pound of flesh. He tried to downplay the situation by saying that the female employee "drizzled a little bit of sauce on me." He did briefly offer to have my clothing dry cleaned, but since Myron continued to yell and talk over me, I couldn't tell him that I had a meeting that afternoon and didn't have time to take my clothing to the dry cleaners. He made excuses for his employees, saying that one was only 15 and one had been with him for 10 years. As he continued to raise his voice to me, he claimed that his sauce would never stain clothing, aggressively told me he would not be accommodating my request and that I should just go blast him on social media. When I finally was able to speak, I decided that I'd had enough and told him "Myron, thank you for your time. You have a good day" I'm not normally a person who complains on social media. I try to work out my problems with other people like an adult. Since Myron asked that I " blast him on social media," I guess that's what I'm doing. I'm not even that upset that a bunch of hot sauce and french fries were spilled all over my clothing. However, I am VERY upset at the lack of response to correct the situation and the complete rudeness and disrespect that I was shown today. I had to cancel my appointment this afternoon and get some new clothing on my dime, but most importantly I've wasted my time trying to deal with this situation and writing this ridiculous review. I've been eating at Maniacs since they opened more than 15 years ago, but I am absolutely done eating here now, and I encourage everyone reading this to choose another restaurant as well. read more

Maniacs is located right behind Costco in the Cool Springs area of Franklin. It is easy to get in to and the line moves pretty fast. Most people come here for the fried chicken strips which are very lightly battered and probably the best you have ever had. This is the only location although the owner said that they are getting ready to do franchises. I always get their salad with added grilled onions and the grilled chicken cooked Cajun style. But twice now I've been scolded by the owners for treading on unwritten/situational rules. The first time was when was berated for not return a ketchup bottle to the front counter. My MIL arrived before us and was seated at a table, waiting for us to arrive. -- Now, I know the flow: it is a busy spot where you order at the counter and then sit. But she has never been here before. -- When we walked I stood in line and my wife retrieved her mom from the table... leaving their jackets behind at the table. Out from the kitchen the owner, Myron, came and called out "who left their jackets at this table?" My wife and MIL indicated it was then and we're then berated in broken concepts for occupying a table while the two customers in line in front of us paused for a moment to find one. (Mind you, their 8-seat bar/counter along the window was unoccupied.) it happened so fast that my wife and MIL were stunned at the rudeness. As I then ordered and paid, I processed what just happened. I proceeded to the food pickup window and asked to speak with the owner who was just so rude. When I called him out on his behavior, suggesting that if they want to enforce a "no seating until you've ordered" rule, that they post a sign, then he became VERY defensive and accused me of hurting all the other customers because I was addressing the issue. He accused me of not being nice to HIM! His wife halfway apologized, but in the end, it left such a bad impression that, as a local, it will be some time before I return to Maniacs. read more

If my meal had been about $2.00 less I would have give this place 5s. Shoestring fries are not everyone's cup of tea but they were tasty and hot. I find most people in the south prefer steak fries but I'm not that picky as long as the taste good.
