The chicken was service quickly and was hot and fresh. I liked the twist on the batter, instead of being breaded, the tenders are tempura battered and fried. MMMMMM! I love everything about this place. I came in craving wings, and they did not disappoint. They told me it wasn't going to be the traditional Buffalo wings, but the mesquite fried wings they gave me scratched that same itch. The meat came right off the bone and it was spiced perfectly. I got the bang bang sauce and it was quite spicy, so I paired it with the blue cheese so that my nose wasn't constantly running I also got fries. Theyre small fries, narrow, which isn't my favorite cut of fry, but they're seasoned so perfectly, I didn't even mind. I'll always take a well seasoned fry over my favorite cut any day. First off I would like to say the owners are incredible. I did not know they even owned Maniacs until after visiting twice. They work with their team daily. Whether it's bussing tables or dropping chicken in a fryer. I've been in the food and hospitality industry for 10+ years and the overall team, cleanliness, and environment are very inviting. The chicken is hands down the best I have ever had. I'm bias to the battered tenders because they have the extra "crunchys" that fall on the plate. The broiled are also amazing as well if you're looking for a healthier option. Fries are hand cut and seasoned perfectly. NOW if you are a sauce person I highly recommend the "Cajun Love" it brings a great Louisiana flavor! Holy Moley. What an unexpected gem. My meal was $7 something and I was overly full. I got the battered chicken with fries and coleslaw. First the chicken is uber moist ... and the breading... wow. Super flaky yet light. Not heavy with grease. The breading is killer. And the coleslaw is some of the best I've had. It's homemade and doesn't have that faux dressing that most have. Also they let me have as many sauces as I wanted. I had the ranch, honey mustard and coyote sauce. Though the best I had was one that a server gave me to try which was a spicy honey mustard. So yesterday I learned why the restaurant is called "Maniacs"...because the owners ARE. I was driving for Uber Eats and got an order for Maniacs. It was an order where I had to go in and order and pay for the customer. The girls behind the register were super sweet. I ordered the food for the customer and paid by cc. I noticed that the pricing the customer had when they ordered was different from the price I paid....significantly different. When I noticed that the order was $13 more than the customer expected, I questioned the girl at the register and she let me know that the prices were recently increased. Chicken fingers went from $8.75 to $10.50, egg rolls went from $6 to $9. That's a pretty good price jump so I texted the customer to let them know that their order was going to be $13 more than they expected. The customer let me know that they no longer wanted the order. I told the girl at the register and she told the kitchen. She the. Tells me that she can't refund the cc because the owners don't train them on how to do it. She said she needed to call the owner. With that, I see her on the phone and the next thing I know, she's handing ME the phone. When I took the phone (weird) the owner, Nicole denied being signed up with any 3rd party delivery. She then told me that she would not refund my cc. She told me that she's not eating the loss and that I would have to. Mind you, the food wasn't even done. When I realized I was dealing with someone who had zero sense of customer service, I handed the phone back to the cashier. When she hung up, she said the owners were coming and that I should wait for them. I asked why they were coming and she said to refund the cc because they won't let anyone at the restaurant do it. Now I'm sitting there waiting in disbelief. I sat in my car and called Uber to see what I should do. As I'm on the phone with Uber who also couldn't believe the owners were refusing to reverse the charge, Nicole and I guess it was her husband, pull up. He goes into the restaurant and I see the girl at the register point to my car. He comes out walking with urgency and comes up to my window and , I kid u not, started yelling at me telling me that he's not signed up with 3rd party delivery and that he's not going to refund my cc. With that, Nicole comes over and I have the 2 of them in my car window telling me that I have to eat the mistake. She was leaning on my side mirror and with the two of them yelling in my window I felt threatened and asked her to back away from my car. Uber customer service was listening to the entire thing in disbelief and told me to roll up my window and drive away to safety. That's what I did. I've never in my life experienced anything so crazy! Been going here for years and have enjoyed, except for an episode over seating like reviewer Kris O. Wrote about. This week with out of town guests, we arrived at opening time. We ordered 6 meals with battered tenders, based on our recommendation. Every meal, the batter fell off the tenders. Every meal with French fries had soggy, grease soaked fries that tasted like leftovers cooked in old oil! Maybe getting there at opening time was a bad idea and the kitchen was not yet up to par. Whatever the reason, it was a major drop off from our prior experiences. A lot of the $90 for food and drinks was wasted and we felt bad for steering our guests to Maniacs. A quick lunch stop brought me here. The entire menu is chicken so don't come here if you don't want any good ol bird. I had the tenders and fries and I also managed to grab a piece eggroll and a hot wing. The tenders were pretty good they have a Very crispy lite batter and an array of sauces to dip them i to add extra flavor. I elected to have my sauce on the side... barbecue tasteo pretty decent. I would blame it on the fact that we got the food to go...but we live only 5 minutes away. 1 of 2 positive points of our visit was that the food was made once we ordered (fresh). The other positive was the lady working the counter...she was very nice, very good customer service. But after that, Maniacs went downhill fast & never recovered. The fries were some of the worse fries I've ever had. They were limp yet overcooked somehow. The tenders had so much breading on them, it was beyond ridiculous. On every tender, the ratio was about 33% chicken, 67% breading. What's worse is the breading had no seasoning...tasted like fried bland flour. The chicken was incredibly bland & rubbery. The sauces weren't good either (tried the coyote, ranch & honey mustard). I don't know if this the food was made to their standard or the cook messed up. Either way, it doesn't matter because Maniacs will not get a 2nd chance with us. I saw in 1 of the reviews, someone else said the food was inexpensive. However, 42 bucks (includes tip) was too much for that subpar meal. The cost of things have gone up, but I feel ripped off from that meal purchase. Never again. read more

I am giving Maniac's 3 stars because their staff is great! And their food is delicious! We have gone there once before and it was so delicious, we could not wait to go again. We ordered the Coyote and the Bang Bang wings the first time. Today, we phone ordered in and we wanted the Coyote and the habanero, and the H2. First of all, we were so confused because the sauces for the wings were on the side, they weren't tossed. We were told that they only were able to toss the coyote and the bang bang. We weren't asked this before, but it was strange to us that they would give us plain wings and the sauce on the side VS being tossed. Maybe that's how they do it there, but we weren't given that option the first time which is why we were confused. Anyways, they fixed it, and again the staff was great about it! The biggest issue that we had was that when we arrived back home to eat, it all tasted AMAZING as it did last time, BUT, my boyfriend and I came across wings that still had FEATHERS on them! We were mortified, and couldn't enjoy our food after that. Their food tastes great, but feathers on the chicken was disgusting. I do just want to point out again, that their flavors are great! I decided to try Manics after a Costco run. I was craving some fried chicken covered in sauce and this place seemed to fit the bill. We dinned in on a somewhat busy Saturday afternoon. The boy taking our order was friendly, however when I ordered the 4 tender tossed in the bang bang sauce (very spicy the menu board says), he said "ummm, that's going to be really hot." I felt like he was saying that people don't usually order that & therefore I shouldn't get it because it would be hot. After a moment of silence I said that I'd take it with the coyote sauce, a sauce that is spicy as the menu board says. I ordered the 4 tenders meal tossed in coyote with just fries. I'd read the reviews on hear about the coleslaw not being very good. I also ordered a side of blue cheese to dip my chicken in. I waited for a second at the counter after the transaction was over because I thought I was going to be given a cup, but one of the food runner ladies told me the cups were by the fountain machine. It didn't take us very long to get our food. The food runner lady/server was nice, but a little curt. I was impressed with the fries, they were salt-and-pepper and have a light seasoning on them. I also really enjoyed their blue cheese, I'm not for sure if they make it at the restaurant or not but it was great. The chicken was good, but I had an issue with the breading. It's a light tempura type of batter and it kept coming off. It wouldn't stay on the chicken at all. You'd have to cut off a piece & then get the chicken on the fork & then follow it up with the breading. I also wasn't crazy about the coyote sauce, it wasn't spicy at all. I wished I'd gotten the bang bang sauce. Overall I love the fries & the chicken was good. A little bit of a hassle to eat though, maybe if I are the tenders with my hands it would've been fine, but the breading falling off was a pain. One last note, the online menu has its prices off. Sweet cheesus they have the best chicken fingers ANYWHERE! I was a regular at Maniac's while I was working in Franklin, and I'd hit this place up at least once a week. They offer broiled and fried tenders, but you'd be crazy not to go with the fried. Each little tender somehow floats in midair while a savory breading holds it in. The breading is not just your ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill breading. No sir! It may not be the 11 herbs and spices the Colonel has, but then again, there really is no comparison. It's nice and herby, with maybe a hint of rosemary. They offer fries and slaw, but I usually just double-up on the fries. Three tenders is enough to fill me up, and they're perfectly paired with their BBQ and/or honey mustard dipping sauces. They offer many other sauces - habanero, ranch, Cajun love and a few others that escape me right now. The menu overall is pretty simple, which usually means they know how to do one thing well - and they certainly do. In addition to the tenders combos, you can also get a salad or their Cajun Love sandwich, as well as their Texas egg rolls (similar to a spicy, southwest-type egg roll with corn, black beans, cilantro, etc). Not sweet at all, just crispy, light, and keeps the chicken super juicy. The fries are heavenly. I'd suggest doing double fries rather than coleslaw. There are multiple sauces, but I'd stick with the ranch and super spicy one (I cant remember the name of it). The semi spicy one wasn't spicy at all and was waaaay too sweet from the molasses they use. Also steer clear from the lemon oil type sauce....all I tasted was olive oil. Those are my only criticisms!
